My sons and I wanted to get something that was close to our hotel and good. Hothouse was on the hotel so we couldn't have found anything closer but the question remains... was it good? The resounding answer is YES! My oldest son opted for finger foods so he got the pretzel bites and fries. He was delightfully surprised. It was just enough food where he was not stuffed and highly satisfied! My youngest son chose to go with the turkey BLT. He also added the side Caesar salad because he was calling himself trying to be healthy. He loved the bread choice for the BLT and also adored the turkey. The side Caesar salad was enough to feed two people. I know this because he had to share half of it with me. I opted for the burger and believe me when I say that this is one of the best burgers that I have ever eaten. I'm not a huge fan of cheddar on a burger but this one had me second guessing that notion. The bacon was to die for and the burger was cooked to my exact temperature. The food was served extremely fast. High quality food served fast is a formula for success! They also had multiple TVs and a bar. It was late. I was desperate for something that was quick and simple for my fiancé who hadn't eaten all day. I did quick google search for places that were still open at this time and relatively close by to me (10:00pm on Saturday), coming from the Sheraton Grand down the street. Walked in, greeted promptly by the bartender. Offered me water while I waited and was super nice. I ordered the chicken tenders and fries and they came out fresh and delicious for my order to go. I came here for breakfast during a quick business trip, and really liked it. Service was absolutely wonderful. My very own pot of fresh and delicious coffee was brought to my table as soon as I was seated. I had the caprese bededicts and let me tell you! What a treat! The tomatoes were grilled and the mozzarela had the perfect texture on top of the English muffin! Perfectly prepared hollandaise sauce and the eggs were also masterly poached. Hothouse is located in the Doubletree Hilton on Ohio Street in downtown Chicago. It has the typical hotel restaurant offerings on their menu. I ordered a mushroom Swiss cheeseburger and it was very good. It came with a large serving of fries. Sadly, the restaurant did not have iced tea available at the time I was there. We stayed at the HGV Chicago Magnificent Mile for our first visit to the Windy City. The hotel has an in-house restaurant (Hothouse). We decided to order off the menu for breakfast and I chose the chopsteak & eggs. It was tasty and came out super quick. Service was a little bit lacking as they seemed to be short handed and the hostess' nerves seemed frazzled by the number of patrons. Our server Ericka really turned it around for us with her desire to serve. She checked in on us and redeemed our experience. We stayed at the Doubletree and ended up eating at Hothouse on our last night in Chicago! They had a good selection of drinks and food, and the service was absolutely exceptional! (Shout-out to Gustavo!) My prime steak was medium rare as requested and the fries were perfectly crispy but soft on the inside. The mashed potatoes had a great consistency and were nice and garlicy, and the pork chop was really juicy. It's located in the back of the lobby, but it was nice and cozy. Enjoyed breakfast at Hothouse where the Hothouse Omelette was hot and tasty! I chose mine with pork sausage and all the veggies! It came with potatoes and a choice of toast. The Bears game was on and despite everyone being very into it, it wasn't loud or overwhelming. The place is nicely appointed with comfortable seating options. The staff was the true highlight. My son and I came in on a Friday night around 6 PM to grab a quick bite to eat. When we arrived at the hotel to check in a couple hours earlier, we were greeted by Gustavo, who was full of energy and such a pleasant person. I mentioned my son had a severe peanut and tree nut allergy and inquired if the restaurant could accommodate us. He assured us that they could, and we would enjoy our food as it would be safe. Boy was he right! The server we had at dinner was Jose G and he gave the best service. My son ordered the steak and frites and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries, both were absolutely delicious. Portions were very large and reasonably priced! I especially loved that the steak was served with asparagus and then there was an additional plate of fries. It was a great deal at only $35! Knocking the classics out of the park which I did not expect for a hotel restaurant. You can sit and dine in the restaurant or take food (and drinks) up to your room which we did. The pizza was a nice thin crust that was perfectly crunchy with fresh tasting cheese and tomatoes. The burger was SO good and was stacked with fresh ingredients on a thick and well cooked patty. Finally the French onion soup was classically good. Jose was the best bartender in the business. All service was personal and chatty if desired but not over the top. read more

You choose between ordering basic foods from the menu, or for about the same price, $24, you can have the buffet, which is a good American breakfast. Got in later on a Friday night and planned on eating at the hotel restaurant. It did not disappoint! We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and all of the staff were hustling as it was busy but they were very attentive. My husband saw others ordering the burger and decided to try it. He was very pleased with the burger and fries. I tried the fish and chips and was happy with my order. It had the perfect amount of breading (I was worried they'd be over breaded) and the garlic aioli was delicious served with it. My husband enjoyed a non alcoholic IPA and although I didn't order one tonight we were happy to see a zero proof section on their drink menu. We sat in a corner and asked for a high chair. we told them that we wanted to feed our son baby food. First a very aggressive gentlemen came and told us we were not allowed and we had to leave. I asked where w could feed our baby while we stayed in the hotel. He brought the manager and she said she would put us in a closed room in the back (after she removed some carts and other Junk stored back there) They obviously just did not want a baby in the hotel restaurant. The Hothouse is the in-house hotel restaurant at the DoubleTree by Hilton Magnificent Mile. The dining room was the typical hotel lobby restaurant, partially divided from the lobby by a decorative wall. The menu was not very daring, with your typical breakfast options, including a buffet. We opted for the breakfast sandwich and the avocado toast. The breakfast sandwich was a decent size made with "Texas Toast" sliced sourdough bread, bacon, cheese, and egg, and then served with a side of breakfast potatoes. The sandwich had good flavor and was adequately filling. I was very pleased with the flavor, size and ingredients. However, I was disappointed by the boring breakfast potatoes. Besides being boring and cliche, they didn't appear to be seasoned and didn't have much flavor. They were accompanied with a side of ketchup. I left them on the plate mostly untouched. My wife had the avocado toast. Again, this was on a thick cut slice of sourdough toast with two poached eggs on top, and was served with a side of arugula salad. My wife thoroughly enjoyed both the avocado toast and the salad. In fact, I would have really liked the option for the arugula salad in lieu of the breakfast potatoes with my sandwich. Maybe it was an option and I just didn't ask, but it would have been nice to have this option up front. All in all, the food was pretty good except for the potatoes. The service was also pretty good. I dined at the HotHouse with a friend on my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. The first thing that stood out to us were the prices. I couldn't believe how cheap the food was for a hotel. I'm used to hotel food being pricier. We were even more shocked once you tried the food and saw what high quality it was. We tried a bit of everything, but our favorites would be Emo's meatballs, the dry rub wings (sweet rub), and the pistachio salad. The flavors of the food really came through and the service staff was really sweet. We went on a Friday and decided to get a couple of margaritas and those were made good as well! I plan on stopping by HotHouse even if I'm not staying at the Hotel. You can't beat the quality of food for those prices. :) read more

I normally only post on Yelp when I find a surprise or have a great experience - but in light of the other reviews here I am giving an updated experience. Maybe this place was great when it first opened, but clearly it is not the place it was. We should have known better when we came in at 7 on a Saturday and it was empty. We were the only table the whole time we were there. It has a nice look and feel, but it is close to the lobby so it didn't seem that we were in a nice restaurant. Most reviews mentioned the dry rub wings, so we waited on those as an appetizer - tasty but not that flavorful. We shared and enjoyed a well prepared Caesar salad. My wife's flatbread was a little too heavy for on the basalmic for me. My garlic shrimp Mac and Cheese was good, not fantastic. A solid three or four star meal. The bad part - with tax and tip it was nearly $100 for two people. I am not sure if that seems reasonable to you - but this meal and experience was not worth it. read more

This was such a wonderful surprise! Do sweet potato tater tots are an absolute must. They have aioli mayonnaise and some type of scallion with cheddar cheese and we're absolutely fantastic. We also got the barbecue chicken sliders the barbecue chicken flatbread and the Sicilian bruschetta... Everything was wonderful. The best part about our visit today was the service.
