My husband and I came here for our 26 year anniversary. It was my first time in Chicago. A local friend of ours recommended NoMi. It was a great recommendation. We were so happy with everything! Our server was wonderful! The entire staff was so friendly and on top of their game! We never waited for anything. They were immediately refilling our waters, offering more bread, removing dirty plates, replacing silverware, and offering the next course. It was perfect! The views!!! I think there's not a table in NoMi that doesn't have an amazing view. The main, large window faces the lake (East). Arriving just at 7, you get the full affect of the city, and lake, and then the sunset and lights of the buildings. It was absolutely magical. I couldn't get enough of it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean, but honestly it could have been a pit and I wouldn't have noticed. You'll be focused on the views for the entire evening. The food!!! Everything is very fresh. It's all well-prepared. Everything was delicious. There's a good variety of dishes to choose from. Plenty of healthy, low-carb options. We each ordered our own appetizers. I had the crispy Maitake mushrooms and my husband had the mussels. We both loved our food and left nothing on our plates. Excellent choices, that we highly recommend. As our main course we shared the sushi platter. The seafood was fresh and the sushi didn't have too much rice. It was the perfect amount of food with our appetizers. They have an extensive wine and drink menu. For drinks I had a glass of the Sauvignon blanc and my husband had a red blend. For dessert we weren't really hungry enough to eat anything else but my husband wanted a pallet cleanser. They have a few sorbets. My husband settled on the cherry cola sorbet. They brought it out with a little chocolate that said "Happy Anniversary" in French. They did not add it to our bill. Very sweet of them. It was probably one of the best anniversaries we've ever had. My husband and I popped in here to escape the cold and found that NoMI was doing a hot coco experience! It was SO awesome! We were able to choose between an alcoholic or non hot coco and load it up so many different toppings. It warmed us up and was decorated so beautiful! This place is clearly not intended for children, but I took my 6 year old here anyway for a fancy mommy baby date. Service was super nice, and I'm pretty sure they put her milk in a Swarovski crystal (or something else equally elegant) glass. While other patrons didn't love us being there, the server treated her as important as I was, which I loved. And I got a fancy cocktail with elderflower liqueur in it, so we really felt out on the town with the rooftop city skyline views. This is an expensive place for sure, but it was quiet and we felt totally luxurious being there. We'll probably return for another fancy date in the future. read more

We stayed 2 nights at the park hyatt and heard great things about Nomi so we had to make time to stop by. Unfortunately, the Nomi restaurant is closed on Monday during lunch time, but they serve a similar menu in the lounge. After a weekend of midwest dining, I was craving vegetables and something lighter. Luckily, compared to our other options they had some salads here. I was able to get the fish sandwhich (it was delicious), a blueberry smoothie with oat milk, and a salad. All the dishes were presented very beautifully. It was a birthday event that we decided to have dinner here. Of course the city view, the lights, the skyscrapers are one of the best parts of this rooftop. The service needs to improve. There is not much attendance from your waiter, and you have to wait a while to get their attention. Nomi is elegant and legere. But dont let that fool you about the prices, this place is expensive even for table white wines. Honestly, I didnt like the view- mostly cos I dont like to look at buildings. But its a nice evening place for a drink with the girls or maybe before dinner. I dont think the place is trying too hard, and Ive never seen a hick there- the mentality of people who choose this place is very defined. If you get lucky on one of the warmer summer days, they have an open air area as well. Sat at the bar this time rather than at the chairs near the window. The bar was buzzing on a Saturday night and the vibe, although casual, still felt sophisticated. I knew that I needed a libation to wet my whistle before going across the street to the Lookingglass to attend a performance. Usually when partaking of drinks, I prefer to go the cocktail route. In this instance I went with wine as I was blown away by the robust selection of wines by the glass. I chose a glass of the chenin blanc as I was intrigued by the name and the fact that it was a biodynamic and organic. The featured red wine, Retirement@65, sounded interesting as well. The bartender mentioned these selections are switched out on a regular basis to keep things fresh. I will definitely be back here to try more of the wines and creative cocktails. This place gets an extra star for the efficient service on my visit and the bartenders/servers who made it all appear effortless. read more

I'd say this is less than a 4 star but will up it anyway because of the seats we had during our experience which showed us a view our beautiful downtown Chicago. My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day and got their 4 course meal with wine pairing. Service and everything were great but we just didn't think the price we paid for the food matched. Of the four courses, I'd say our desserts were the best. The passion fruit dessert was very creative with so many different flavors in one. We started off with the surf and turf which had braised oxtail and tiny bay scallops (over cooked-would be better with large scallops). Then I got the roasted carrots salad and he got the mushroom soup. Both were great and delicious. He then got the steak and I got the trout. Steak was good but trout was ok. Popped into the patio at the lounge for pre-dinner drinks-- it was beautiful! Great views, comfortable tables and chairs, and lots of umbrellas for shade (if you want it!). I had the cobblestone cocktail, which was nice and fruity. It was refreshing but strong, which is nice given its price tag ($16 per cocktail). Our table of 4 also shared some apps: edamame, salt and vinegar popcorn, and the hand cut fries. All of them were tasty, but the real star was the popcorn. It had a great tang from the vinegar, with saltiness from the salt and Parmesan cheese on top to balance it out. Overall, this is a beautiful spot with great views. When you want to have a drink and reconnect with a friend you haven't seen in a while AND it's winter in Chicago, it doesn't come much better than Nomi Lounge. Classy, comfortable, luxurious, 7 stories above Michigan Avenue, it's also a great people-watching scene (spotted that afternoon: three fur coats, an awkward first date, a gal and her sugar daddy indulging in cocktails and the future cast of The Real Housewives of Chicago). When you exit the elevator, take a few seconds to stop in the first room lined with bottles; there's a wonderful cheese cave on your left from which emanates the most glorious of whiffs (word of caution: don't expect a full-blown cave complete with stone walls and stalagmites; it's only a temperature-controlled box, a.k.a a fridge) The reason we came in can be summed up in three words: boozy hot chocolate. They have a selection of 5 or 6, each one better sounding than the next, and billed at $17 a pop. Aficionados of the depressingly pedestrian mint-chocolate combo can indulge with a peppermint schnapps option (seriously though, it's time to move ON) but you can also choose a shot of bourbon and cask-aged maple syrup, vanilla vodka & Amaretto, Jameson & Baileys or Grand Marnier & Laphroaig. Tantalizing or what? Don't forget to take a trip to the candy bar, and pack on home-made marshmallows, chocolate cigars and orangettes. (And I wonder how I gained 6 pounds during the holidays....) On a balmy afternoon in Chicago early this September, I was walking accross the city looking for a place to eat that was open in the afternoon on a weekday. I really wanted to try NoMi but the main restaurant was closed. Someone wisely escorted me to the lounge... Open up scene to a beautiful rooftop patio, views of nearby architecture (my fav), and me in a sundress soaking up the sun. The menu was limited. But it did have some good options especially for my crazy diet. My bf brought me here for lunch on Sunday. He bought Gilt City tickets for us, but since NoMI Kitchen was reserved for Sunday brunch, we ate lunch in NoMI Lounge instead. Overall, it was a great meal and the service was wonderful (although maybe a tad slow), and there was an incredible amount of food. We didn't eat breakfast that morning and I was starving before my meal, but we were barely able to finish half of our food. We were given the option to choose between the mushroom soup or black bean soup, the reuben or the 800 burger, and a tart for dessert. We both opted for the mushroom soup and the burger, which were delicious. The soup was lovely but it was incredibly rich - I didn't realize how heavy it was until I finished my bowl, and by then I could barely touch my burger, which I only ate 1/3 of. The tart dessert was filled with pistachio mousse, and that was probably my favorite part of my meal. We split one and I took the other one home (can't wait to eat it whoo). read more

I really love Nomi's lounge because it's swanky, rich, gorgeous & sexy. It also screams 'you are paying easily 80% more for this glass of alcohol than it cost us' but you don't even care. Well, you do, but hopefully by then the wine has eased the pain... I like to come here when I want to wander around michigan avenue when the christmas lights are up, and cozy up to the super tall, thick wood bar & have a giant glass of red wine. It's a special occasion place, and I think it's most special during that magical christmas-time. Also, in another life I would live in the Park Hyatt like Eloise in the Plaza. Love this place. It's one of the places I'll take visitors. Consistently serves up courteous service, a great glass of wine and some delicious bites in a beautiful setting. Stopped in for a drink with some friends who were staying in the hotel. The my have a beautiful and sunny patio that has plenty of umbrella coverage. It was a perfect summer day to have a rooftop drink. I had an old fashioned which was delicious and the table shared appetizers of popcorn, edamame, and French fries. I don't ever order popcorn at restaurants but I am glad we did. The flavor they picked on the corn was really really good. The French fries were thick cut and crispy on the outside just how I like it. All that said but you pay for the view. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks and the place wasn't even half full. It was apparent that the servers were focused on certain tables and not others - perhaps the fact that we only ordered drinks made them want to focus on people ordered food. I understand that. We're not high maintenance and don't like to be bothered much anyways but I could see how a different guest might feel ignored. I'd go back. I was bummed we didn't get to try anything on the menu because it looked very good. Popped in here for a late night drink and couldn't have been more impressed. First off it's popular so plenty of action going on but secondly it's one of the best roof top bars in the city. Our waitress was on point assisting with chairs for our group and suggesting our wine. The seating and tables are made of wood and give the whole place a shabby chic type feel in my opinion. Came here for drinks last night and hung out on the terrace. The bartender seemed burdened by his job and he gave no smile, greeting, or a thank you. The drinks were decent though. They have a lot of furniture there so if you don't get a table, then standing space is tight. That also doesn't make a good scene for networking as everyone is in their groups. But it is a place mostly for hotel guests I guess. FYI, like other outdoor bars, you need to go inside around midnight. read more

I've been a fan of NoMi since it opened, have dined there numerous times, and always felt that the lounge was one best hotel bars in the city. I hadn't been since the renovation, but was happy to see that all was pretty much the same. Good vibe, with a handful of chic folks amongst the tourists. We nibbled on goat cheese with candied pecans, quince jelly, and toast, and devoured the rich veal meatballs, sopping up the tasty sauce. Cocktails were great and packed a nice punch (you are warned: NoMI is not for the bargain hunter). My only complaint is that the bar was slow, and the wait for drinks was a bit long, but this was tempered by the follow up from Hector, the dashing manager. Nice to know that one of my favorite spots continues to deliver. After all, a boy needs a place to wear his snappy duds. read more

The setting here, both indoor and out, is total opulence. We were initially seated outdoors at a high-table (in the sun) with our drinks, and after a breezy couple hours, we took to indoors for some bites and drinks in the narrow, yet comfortable, layout. We had the bone marrow (it would have been perfect if it were a bit less salty), skirt steak (excellent), Diver scallops (delicious), fries paired with truffle aioli sauce (very good), and the bittersweet chocolate mousse (yum)! For drinks, I had something semi-sweet and weak (as asked for) with grapefruit, which was very refreshing. My date liked his strong, spiked drink, as well. This lounge is pretty classy, not too loud and the ambiance is nice. The drinks are a bit expensive but they're good and pretty unique. I had this chamomile infused gin drink that was smoother than gin and tonic, but tasted similar to gin and tonic. The fries here are sooo good! And it comes with excellent truffle aioli sauce! If you walk along Michigan Avenue, towards Water Tower and the Hancock Building, it's hard not to notice the building just behind the historic Pump House. Housed in a cream-yellow-colored high-rise, you'll note that there's a restaurant that floats above the bustling pedestrians below. The place juts out in an exaggerated bow window, roughly 7 stories above the plaza with the Pump House down below. In there, you'll find the sumptuous Nomi Restaurant and Lounge Bar of the 5-star Park Hyatt Hotel. The Lounge is perhaps one of my favorite places for an intimate cocktail gathering or special date. Regardless of the occasion, come appropriately dressed for the best experience and you'll have excellent service. We stopped by without reservations and managed to score the communal table in the Wine Cellar / Room -- which was perfect. It's candlelit and you still feel a part of the lively ambience in the restaurant next door, but it's less about holding hands (not exactly something I care to do in a 6-member party where we're just friends and prefer not to sing koom-buy-yah and have daisies in our hair), and more about enjoying great conversation and perhaps meeting new people, if the table space is filled up with other patrons, as ours was. Drinks are excellent and the food is outstanding. We grabbed several dishes which were perfect to share, including the mini-burgers, cheese platter, the divine mac & cheese, and spicy tuna roll. This is a place of elegant decadence and a place where you can avoid overly drunk / obnoxious binge drinkers which can be found a few blocks away in the dive bars and parts of the Gold Coast (like Division Street especially). There's a reason why Nomi, despite its 'hidden', off-street entrance, has survived the recession and continues to draw patrons near and far. It's outstanding, personable, and simply fantastic. Walking in Chicago, the place of uneven pavement and potholes, you can grow accustomed to looking down so as to avoid tripping. But next time you find yourself in this part of the Mag Mile, don't be afraid to look up. You won't want to miss this place. read more

Besides that and a great view, I wasn't impressed. The worst part was the bartender. The service is slow and just kind of awkward, I am not sure if it was just because the server was too busy or what but she just didn't provide the level of service I expected and experienced in other outlets of the hotel.
