Fun place in the hotel. Good happy hour but ask which wines are included as they change daily. Loved the chicken pita sandwich And the Caesar salad with shrimp (lots of shrimp) and the one with chicken was also delicious. read more

Le Bar - Old fashioned - Bars Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I recently stayed at Sofitel and loved Le Bar!Their happy hour was pretty chill, with late night being a bit more lively - both times were enjoyable. I really liked the flatbread that I had during happy hour (BBQ chicken is on the menu, however the staff and kitchen were gracious enough to accommodate due to my dietary preferences). The drinks were strong and the bar staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The only downside was quite a few drinks on their menu couldn't be made (due to a pending seasonal change) so there weren't many options to choose from. Other than that, still a quality experience. read more

Cool little cocktail bar within a hotel. We ordered the oak street beach margs ($20 bucks a piece) and while they were pretty good, they tasted more like a paloma. I was missing that lime flavor I want in every margarita. Service was good until it wasn't. I think a lot of times the staff assumes it's just hotel guests dining there, so they didn't come to pick up our credit cards for a good 15 minutes when we were ready to go. We ended up asking the bar, and they were apologetic and kind. 20 isn't even out of the ordinary for a chicago cocktail, but it's still pretty pricey for the small amount of drink you get. Cute setup and lovely little patio area. read more

For a hotel bar, the food was pretty good! I had analysis paralysis of places to go and try and defaulted here after a long day. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. They also let me be my introverted self and didn't get too chatty which was appreciated! The space is nice and open and cozy all at the same time. read more

Le Bar - Chicken pita (side of house b+b pickles) - Bars Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I am a huge fan of hotel bars when they are good and Le Bar is up there for me. Of course I am bias as I will love a place on principle if they are serving bubbles. Le Bar is not like most hotel bars, it feels more like someone's living room or den. Unlike a lot of hotel bars, Le Bar is situated in an area where there is lots of windows and natural light. When the weather is nice, you have the option to sit outside and people watch. I myself like to watch traffic go by, don't ask why, I just do. Doing it with bubbles makes it even nicer. Seating is comfy and again, I always feel like I am sitting in someone's living room or den. Service has never been a problem when I have been there, the servers have always been attentive. As far as the food goes, I can only speak on the lamb meatballs, charcuterie board and the burger, as it is the only thing I eat when I am there and I love all three. My BFF and The Doctor split a strawberry rhubarb dessert....the plate was clean so I am guessing they liked it. Be warned, cocktail prices are in the $14-18 range, but that is the going price for drinks these days, even at places that are not downtown. read more

To quote Lady Gaga, "talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before." Le Bar might just be a hotel bar to you, but it is live, laugh, love to me. Their spicy margarita restored my faith in humanity and their lemon drops are as god intended, with a sugar rim. The hosts, servers, and bartenders were a joy to be around. Wish we could come back soon!! read more

My daughter & I popped into LeBar recently while shopping in the area. It was super hot outside, so we decided to stop and split a bottle of wine before heading home. Nice interior vibe, and we were seated quickly. The place was pretty busy, but our wine was delivered to the table relatively quickly. Only issue was that by the time we were ready to leave, the place had gotten super crowded, and we had to chase down our server to get our check. read more

I had the crab cakes which were really good, and they did not have any fillers in them just all me, the crab cakes are not frozen. I also had a Manhattan on the rocks which was really good. The drinks are amazing, the service is cool, it's not amazing service but just cool service. read more

Busy place throughout the week. Lots of business conference traffic. Chicken sliders are excellent and I can also recommend the charcuterie. Service is very good and ambiance is nice. Excellent wines by the glass. Summertime seating outside in comfy chairs on the patio was lovely. read more

Service, ambience, posh accommodations and amazing french fries make Le Bar an amazing bar. Wether you stop in for happy hour, an after drink or a night cap on the way back to your room, make sure stop in, sit at the bar on the couch or in front of the fire. Back to the fries. My husband and I stopped in for a glass of wine before heading to dinner. The couple sitting by the fire each had a bowl of fries, I was instantly intrigued. Le Bar didn't exactly strike me as a french fry kind of place, but after an initial whiff it was clear we had to order them. We sat at the bar placed a drink order and an order of fries. Hot crispy and the perfect amount of sea salt, these fries were amazing. So good, we came back down the next night for drinks, but this time two orders of fries. The bar staff were knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The drinks are priced perfectly so stop on in when visiting Michigan Avenue. read more

Great bartenders & ambience. Good drink selection. Nice easy stop on way up to room. Good location in Chicago.

I've been coming here since the hotel opened, and have watched as the food for both the bar and hotel have declined due to outsourcing of the cooks to non-unionized cooks from Mexico, who can follow a recipe, but can NOT understand what the end product of food, other than native Mexican food, should taste like. The current bar menu is literally INEDIBLE and an embarrassment for a major hotel in the Gold Coast of Chicago!! Go to Le Bar for a drink, the wait staff is outstanding; however, be prepared to eat before/after because the food is inedible. read more

No. Not good at all. Unnecessarily loud music. Food was just not good. No one serves steak Frits at a French restaurant with steak fries. Steak was half fat. Other entries were minuscule. What was not minuscule was the bill. At half the price, the experience would have been bad. Wish I did not have to give the place one star. read more

Situated inside Sofitel Chicago, Le Bar lived up to my expectations. My party of four started with drinks and we're delighted by the amount of cocktail choices on the menu. I bounced from gin to mezcal and back. We chose to sit inside for dinner but there is a beautiful outdoor dining option. The best part of the entire experience was dinner. Chef Daniel prepared a 6 course dinner for our party with two additional courses for dessert. Not only is he talented ...but he is an artist. Course 1: Foie gras with blueberry compote and Salt Course 2: Heirloom tomato salad with honey ricotta dressing and candied kumquat Course 3: Salmon croquet with butternut squash purée and pickled red onions Course 4: steak tartare with mustard sauce and saffron aïoli Course 5: scallops with new potatoes and endive Course 6: Beef tenderloin an octopus drizzled with the duck confit Course 7: Açai with fennel lavender foam and a candied orange slice Course 8: Macarons on a bed of cocoa with dehydrated berries. I originally heard about the chef on a trip to Dubai. When I returned to Chicago I dined with him in his previous restaurant. Having an opportunity to dine with him with my friends at Le Bar was the highlight of the weekend. If you don't come for anything else come for the food. Chef Daniel and his team actually make You want to "kiss the chef". On the plus side...he's not a bad looking dude! Not so humbly submitted, Michael C. read more

I stopped to Le Bar for a cocktail before I went to a meeting upstairs. I was wow'd by the snazzy ambiance and beautiful aesthetics. The room is big but feels warm and cozy. The bar has a ton of seats. The room also offers a variety of seating. The floor to ceiling windows offer natural light before sundown and a view of city lights. No matter the time of day, there's always a view of city life. The bartender was polite and helpful. We ordered a glass of wine which was very tasty and ice cold club soda. They also offer a dish with a variety of snacks to go with your beverage. Le Bar is in a beautiful location for visitors and locals alike. I can't wait to stop in again. I'm looking forward to their lovely outdoor patio. I heard that there is sometimes live music out there. What could be better than a nice cocktail with a bit of live jazz?! read more

When people weren't staring it was a nice time. The lighting was dim & the couches were comfy. It's definitely the Karen after work place to be. Seems like a lot of people who work in the area come after for a drink. The espresso martini was delicious as was the charcuterie deff both good. The service was meh. The server was nice but it took about 25 mins to order and about 30 mins to get the check. read more

We had a wonderful time at the pretty and modern Le Bar prior to our celebratory dinner in a restaurant nearby. Clayton the attentive bartender made sure our glasses were always full and that we were well looked after. We'll definitely return. Thank you, Clayton! read more

This is the bar at the Sofitel Hotel Chicago. After checking in to the very comfortable and dimly lit rooms, it was a shock shock how bright and garish the lights are at Le Bar. One can see everything undecthose lights including the cracked mirror trim and the cracked black wood; It's time to take out the black Sharpie to hide the wood cracks. Anyway the burger was fair. I ordered it medium and the temperature was somewhat cool. The bun is not remarkable and they do not toast it. Thus between this, the pickles, tomatoes and lettuce, the burger was almost room temperature. As this is a French company, the frites were a pure disappointment. They were thicker French fries with a freezer taste. The cocktails were perfect and the help was very friendly. But the overall equation is not equal. I would suggest stopping for a cocktail and perhaps an appetizer but go elsewhere for the burger. This review is based solely on my personal opinion. read more

It was beyond awful, service was slow and not courteous at all. The oysters went bad and they still served it to me, with a bunch of fish eggs covering up the fact they went bad. And made me sick the next day. Recommend to Avoid like the plague. read more

I guess you could say that I am a huge fan of hotel bars. I dont stay at the sofitel because I live in the gold coast but you have to give credit where credit is due because they make everyone feel hospitable from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you get a seat at the bar. This is not something that every hotel in the area accomplishes. They have a rather decent outdoor area geared towards shmoozing with people you know and just leading to you have more cocktails that are in the $14-$16 range. Two years ago I brought a ex gf( we were going out at the time) of mine who got unruly after 3 root beer martinis...These bartenders are not cheating you our of any alcohol when they make these drinks for you. They are pretty lethal. Sometimes I'll just come in and read the NY times on Sunday while drinking a cup of coffee. The staff does not seem to mind. Late at night they a good "scene" that mixes with locals, Travelers from France, Switzerland, Italy and other places in Europe and US business travelers...i e people who speak english. While they do not have a DJ, they do play good lounge beats in the back round to give it that feel like it is a lounge you should stay at for a few hours. read more

Elegant little lounge. Quaint and cute Le Bar in the magnificent mile Sofitel. One thing spoiled our evening his name was James. We ordered cocktails, dirty martinis to be exact. They came out in wine glasses. We asked James for the proper glassware since 6 beverages was $102.81 and we assumed wine glasses weren't the greatest option. James told us and I quote " due to the industry and the shortage, you get what you get" I'm assuming this means covid yet I'm unsure why when there's 8 guests in the entire establishment why a glass couldn't be washed. The larger question is why does James need to be so rude and disrespectful at his place of employment. He works here, I do not, I'm a patron. Therefore you could of explained "hey guys unfortunately we're having an issue with finding glassware blah blah blah". Give us the courteous heads up and life would of went on, it's still alcohol that's what we came for. We just did not come for all the attitude and disrespect. James needs an attitude adjustment and a lesson on how the service industry works and how to perhaps be polite to customers. The place is great, but James is not. read more

I don't mind paying top dollar for a cocktail, but 25 for a mediocre Old fashion is laughable. You can get one for less at real top hotels like Four seasons, trump, peninsula. Sofitel you're neither nor do you live in Dubai , NYC , Miami stop the nonsense! read more

Le Bar is a very chill-easy lounge. Amish S and I ordered the martini flight paired with amuse-gueule. [Added pix] The martini flight included Lady Sage (my fave out of bunch), Anejo Manhattan, and Mango Bella cocktails. The amuse-gueules were bruschetta, wonton taco, and smoked salmon on toast, which were all tasty. These delightful pairings came out to $18, which I thought was not bad considering most cocktails run at $12. To be honest though, I still think the cocktails at Violet Hour are better crafted and balanced. However, Le Bar is my bar of choice when around the magnificent mile. read more

A nice place to grab a afternoon cocktail. The outdoor seating was the main draw, but we learned there was a little bit more in store. Le Bar has a pretty nice assortment of wines by the glass ($8-$24) and a few flights ($18-$22). There are several interesting cocktails and mocktails too. If you need a light snack, Le Bar offers that as well. read more

Lively hotel spot to stop in for a few drinks. Cost to worth it ratio: 2.5 ($12 for specialty drinks) Highlights: - Atmosphere: trendy, loungey with low lighting, but not too crowded - Drink menu: some fun options like a blackberry margarita that was featured in Glamour magazine as well as that champagne with the painted flower on the bottle by the glass. - Comfy seating: big chairs Lowlights: - Small: might at times be hard to get a seat - Run of the mill hotel bar: nothing super special Standard spot. We went cause it was late and close to our hotel. With all the other great options in the city, not sure if we'll be back. read more

Le Bar is tres sexy and for those who don't know, I like sexy. I met a couple of friends there the other night and was impressed from start to finish. I had the backyard blackberry margarita, (actually 3) and it was perhaps the best cocktail I've had in a long time. It was a tastebud-shocking combination of blackberries, fresh thyme, tequila and champagne. I also had the delicious So French cheese plate which included three different kinds of cheeses. I would have preferred crackers instead of the heavy rolls which came with it (only for waistline purposes) but they were tasty, nonetheless. The music, decor and ambiance were perfect, super sexy and our server was very friendly. I'm not sure what a typical crowd is like, but this particular night there were A LOT of businessmen in the bar which made for a fun night of flirting for a coquette like myself! Tres fun and I'll be back. read more

Some friends and I came to celebrate a friends 21st birthday and was immediately 'greeted' by a rude rude waiter. He didn't even say hello and immediately said 'I'll need to see some ID.' I went to Le bar and I sat outside. Am not sure if that is Le bar or le hotel. Anyhoo, here's my review. The drinks were well made, and came in decent sized quantities. We tried the balckberry martini, which was sweet, with an edge of lime to cut the sweet- well done. The place is tres chic, so dress for it. It's much nicer to sit outside, of course, and because it is in a quieter area, there is not that much traffic to disturb one. Nice to go here for a drink before a date. read more

I really wanted to love this place - especially since it was in my fave: the Sofitel. The plush couch in front of the fireplace - divine. The rancid mango juice in my martini - disgusting. They are expensive drinks but the servings are huge so it all evens out. I will stick to my Grey Goose cosmo here - a bit hard to screw that up. I also didn't care for the actualy furniture in here - everything seemed a bit "sticky" and dilapidated - maybe a face lift will do the trick ... read more

We were looking for a place to have a drink and dessert after our heavy steak dinner. The concierge suggested the hotel bar, Le Bar. We went and were very happy with the recommendation. We both had some port and the chocolate pistachio bomb. The bomb was very good. The chocolate and the pistachio went together really well and the contrasting textures appeased the palette.
