    Traditional afternoon tea
    Ariana G.

Had 2 vouchers from Travelzoo for traditional afternoon tea. Honestly, I think this was a lovely experience to have on a Sunday afternoon with family or friends to sit back and relax. I brought my boyfriend and his parents and they loved it! Once you walk into the hotel, you'll see the sign "Martini Bar" and the location is just to your right. It's a small section right next to the bar designated for afternoon tea. I thought it would be busy, but it wasn't and I went at 1PM on a Sunday. My experience was nice and quiet so other experiences may have been different. You're given a wide variety of teas to choose from and everyone in my party received their own tea pot with hot water. Since I had 2 vouchers, they gave me the big tower of finger sandwiches and pastries to accommodate 4 ppl. The snacks were good but not the best. This was my first time doing this so I can say I had a good time and others should experience it too!

My first time. Went on a Thurs at 2 pm for high tea. Went alone for some "me time." I didn't use Groupon, since it was only me. Reserved thru Yelp. I requested thru the reservation for no pork products. There was great old school jazz -big band music on. There were 3 tables at 2 pm. I was by myself by 3pm. Service was quick, attentive. I had the whole place to myself!!! Went with traditional tea set; will try to return for the Asian tea set later. Started with the finger sandwiches (6): roasted veggies, egg salad, cucumber) and worked my way up the the 2nd tier: the blueberry scones and macarons. Sandwiches weren't bad. Couldn't get to the 3rd tier desserts and had to ask for takeaway. Enjoyed the high quality Rishi teas. Tried the jade cloud green tea--- will never go back to regular green tea --- it was so smooth! And no after taste! Next, tried the tangerine ginger (hibiscus, ginger, citrus), which was fruity and zingy. There were other flavors: mango chili, peppermint, earl grey, chamomile, strawberry mint. Stayed for a good 1.5 hrs unwinding and catching up on the internet. My bill was $25.09. Actually better than Groupon! ($60 for 2). Will compare to Palmer House tea time next.

I made a reservations weeks before Mother's Day. I was told by the manager that I didn't need to purchase the Groupon Deal. That since the prices were the same I could get it for that same amount. I was looking forward to having a nice tea party with my mom. Nice welcoming and attentive doormen. A nice relaxing and cozy atmosphere to enjoy a nice weekend getaway with family or friends. However, when we arrived it just seemed like the staff was unorganized. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The window seating area gives you a better view and better lighting. We selected our flavor of tea and the waiter came over with our tea pots. I was a bit disappointed with the food selections. Not very attentive. I had to keep asking the staff for more hot water for our tea. After, we were done the bill came and it wasn't upon what was agreed. Ambience 9/10 Food 5/10 Staff & Serving 5/10 Prices 4/10

Egg salad, tuna salad and vegetable sandwich. Cinnamon scone with real Clotted cream - very important and appreciated. Hair in vegetable sandwich, waiter asked to bring another which I declined and kinda lost appetite. Also, Staff did not engage at all or ask how it was or if we needed more hot water or anything and asked to bring me another. Comfortable, cozy and intimate but would not return.

    The tea party!

It was great! The overall vibe and feel is cosy and cute and definitely would recommend it for a fun different experience. The tea selections were amazing and the little snacks were a hit! It's tucked away to a small place but definitely worth it. You have to make reservations though but it's worth it!

    Asian tea experience was delicious

Yes, it was no problem! Our server brought us containers and plastic bags.

I scanned the QR code and went to the bathroom. As I walked back there, I noticed there were 4 open spots at the bar and there were 6 2-top tables set up, which was confusing because there was a 45 minutes wait. Walking back from the bathroom I thought I would ask the bartender if the seating at the bar was also reserved by through the waitlist. I walked up ( did not attempt to sit down as that part of the bar was not clean) and the bartender started rudely saying "have you spoken to the host " I said yes but I had a question, and she continuously said " you have to speak to the host." I told her that I just had a question for her then she rudely said again "sometimes we use this as seating so-rry." My partner and I decided to leave after that. I had never been treated that way in my life. I open my mouth to say something and I couldn't because I was rudely interrupted. I felt like I was hurried out of the area. After being here countless times before and exploring the menu with friends and family, I don't think I will ever come back as this left a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard to go back when you feel you were discriminated against. My partner and I felt like we were that night as the attitudes and behaviors from the bartender and hostess were rude.

After leaving the symphony, we wanted somewhere nearby to grab a meal and have a good conversation, so we ended up at Miller's Pub at 134 S. Wabash. My colleague had made a reservation, but honestly, it didn't seem necessary, you can easily walk in. Miller's Pub is a longtime Chicago staple, and we were seated quickly. The space is much larger than it appears, with a classic Irish pub feel and an antique charm that gives it a lot of character. Our server was enthusiastic, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the night, which we appreciated. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of dishes. I kept it simple with a salad topped with carrots and chicken, it was just okay, nothing particularly memorable. One of my colleagues ordered a chicken sandwich, and another got what might have been the most massive fish tender I've ever seen. If I ate fish, I definitely would've tried it, and she said it was really good. Unfortunately, what really impacted our experience was the atmosphere. There was a choir conference happening nearby, and a large group of attendees came into the pub and started singing, loudly and continuously, throughout the evening. While it was entertaining for the first couple of songs, it quickly became overwhelming and disruptive. It didn't seem like other patrons were enjoying it either, there was little to no engagement or applause, and I found myself wishing the staff had stepped in to tone things down a bit. I understand that a bar environment can bring in all kinds of energy, but this went on far too long and really took away from the experience we were hoping to have. Based on the food alone, I'd give Miller's Pub 3 out of 5 stars. But factoring in the overall experience, it's closer to a 2.5 out of 5 for me.

I had been wanting to try Industry Ales when it opened and was glad to have had the opportunity to finally check it out! I was slightly thrown off, as the dining tables are at the front of this space, and the bar is all the way at the back. In fact, my friend at first glance thought it was a sit-down dining establishment sans bar seating. We found our way to the bar and posted up at two seats. We were offered menus right away and found the bartender extremely knowledgeable. This was super helpful when facing down an encyclopedia of ales. He offered samples when we explained what we were looking for. That is service above and beyond, especially on a bustling Friday early evening. The brews were tasty, but I couldn't really discern what I was drinking apart to say it was a lighter Belgian Ale. Wine is more in my wheelhouse, but always good to change things up, especially when a person has the opportunity to be guided by an expert. The people seated nearby had ordered the tuna tartare which looked delicious. In fact, all of the menu is globally influenced (think: pizza samosas, pierogis, Korean BBQ) in addition to the classic brewpub favorites. In addition to the Brewpub, this location features the Millroom, a speakeasy-style lounge. I did not have a chance to check that out on this visit. Definitely a cut above the usual sports bar and a place to expand one's knowledge of brews.
