We had reservations for Saturday night. I highly recommend having a reservations. Your reservation is confirmed downstairs before getting access. FYI, a deposit is required while booking the reservation. The service was great, our waitress was super pleasant and she recommended a few of her favs from the menu. The vibe was very chill. There was no actual DJ but the playlist was decent. The views of the city skyline at night were beautiful. It definitely had a lounge feel. I just know brunch time is a good time. We kept our food order light because it was late. I had the octopus and my friend ordered the tempura roll. We also ordered the truffle fries. Please keep in mind it's a small menu (you can checkout the menu on their website). Everything we ordered was so good! I would for sure return when I'm back in Chicago.

I've had a lot of friends visit this rooftop for brunch and I finally got the chance! The rooftop is very clean with plentiful seating and beautiful chicago views! There's plenty of street parking in the area, no need to valet. Our waitress was Emma and she was great! Checked on us just enough, knew the menu very well, and had a good spirit. All of our food was delicious and filling! Don't let the small plates fool you. The surprising highlight of my brunch were the macrons. DELICIOUS!! I think our tab was fair for a party of 4.

Proof that the best nights always start on a rooftop Throwing it back to one of my favorite Chicago nights -- drinks and bites on the Godfrey Hotel rooftop before heading out to a show. The city views, the cocktails, the energy... it was the perfect pre-night-out stop. There's just something about starting an evening above the skyline with good food, good drinks, and even better company. And now? The rooftop glow-up for winter is everything. The Godfrey has transformed the space into cozy holiday igloos, making it the ultimate cold-weather hangout without giving up those iconic rooftop vibes. Think warm drinks, seasonal bites, twinkly lights, and skyline views -- all bundled up and festive. Whether you're planning a holiday date night, a girls' night, or a pre-show stop this month, the Godfrey rooftop igloos are an absolute must-check-out. Same vibes, new season, even better reason to go. Trust me... add this one to your December plans. What we ordered at the Godfrey rooftop - Fresh veggie crudité with creamy hummus - Warm pita + dips - Juicy slider trio with toasted buns - Crispy fries with ketchup - A refreshing mojito - A berry-forward cocktail (light, fruity, and perfect for rooftop sipping)

The rooftop is beautiful and has a great view of the city. I love seating layout and the seats are comfy. Our appetizers and cocktails were delicious. Server was helpful with providing suggestions for appetizers.

Stopped by Up at The Godfrey and had such a great time! The drinks were definitely the highlight--super refreshing and well-made. I had the Frozen Rosé and the Watermelon Spritz, and both were perfect for a summer evening. Their happy hour deals are solid too--great value for the quality. I also ordered a few bites: the flatbread, shishito peppers, and shrimp tempura. All three were tasty, especially the shrimp tempura--crispy and flavorful without being too heavy. Our waitress was amazing, she always come and check up on us. The rooftop vibe is fun, with great views and a chill atmosphere. Definitely a spot I'd come back to for drinks with friends or a casual night out!

My neighbor suggested going to happy hour at io Godfrey rooftop. This my first time here, and we enjoyed sunshine, beach club vibes and great service. There's a good variety for happy hour; drinks and select bites are 50% off! I enjoyed the FROSE ALL DAY, which was an elevated version of a frose. It was a sweet balance of bitter and sweet. My neighbor enjoyed her Prosecco, as she prefers wines. We both shared the flat bread, which is very large to share with heaps of prosciutto. We also enjoyed the slider. The jam and pickles combined into such a tasty flavor. The fries were crispy and warm with the aioli on the side. My second drink was mango daiquiri; very sweet and somewhat sour, packed with the bright mango taste. We wanted to enjoy the rooftop more, so we gad another round of frosé and prosecco. I'll need to bring my husband next time!

A really nice spot to grab a drink and just vibe. Good views and the bartenders were all super nice. I wish I had ordered food but just came to grab a cold one before heading to the airport for my flight.

Super fun experience! This was the first spot that caught our attention when we arrived in Chicago. The place was decked out with amazing Halloween decorations for a party they were hosting the next night, and the vibes were great. It's a covered rooftop patio bar with awesome drinks and food. The Wagyu burgers were cheap and delicious during happy hour, especially with the truffle fries. The pizza was a bit of a letdown, though. I tried the frozen rosé, a mule, and a few other drinks--all solid. The service was pretty good overall, and I'd definitely come back again.

Came to Chicago for a visit and saw that the Godfrey had openings for Saturday morning. I love that it's an outside bar but It can be converted to indoor. Unfortunately for me, it began to rain so we had to move inside. I ordered a peach Bellini and it was great, mostly prosesseco with a splash of peach, which is how I like it. However it seems that the drinks were taking a little longer than usual. For brunch we started with the truffle fries which were good but also took a while to come out. We ordered the brunch fried rice, with extra bacon and it was very flavorful however the bacon did have some burnt taste to it. The staff was nice and accommodating! I recommend this place and they have great views of the city . Only a 13 minute walk from the magnificent mile!

Such a great rooftop for the summer! A great "bougie" rooftop to go with coworkers or friends. It is on the pricey side but I expected it. All the drinks were yummy! Again, expensive, but expected for the Godfrey. They have a good amount of cocktails and shareables. I definitely will come back next summer!

We came for happy hour because we saw it on many lists as one of the best rooftop bars in Chicago. The man checking our reservation and IDs was indeed cold like many other reviews suggest, but service was much friendlier inside. However, service was very slow and could have been much more attentive. Happy hour food was pretty alright. We got the wagyu beef sliders and truffle fries. The sliders were good. The truffle fries were large, but the truffle dip was very bland in my opinion. There is only a hint of truffle in the dip. I did like how the fries were cooked though; they're perfect for those who like softer fries. Unfortunately, we also found a hair fried into one of them... The drinks left a lot to be desired. I got the happy hour house red, which was super dry and not tasty. My boyfriend got the mango daiquiri, which was sour. It was blended excellently though so we enjoyed the texture. We were informed about the strict dress code, but it didn't seem adhered to. We saw people in t-shirts and athletic wear. Maybe it's because we came too early and they're just trying to fill seats? If that's the case, then it would make sense to just have the dress code after a certain time? I don't know... The view is fine though I suppose. However, I don't recommend coming here.

Went here for new year lunch with the gals. We caught up had great fellowship. The hotel itself is really nice they have pockets and nooks of seating areas that are cute. They even had the igloos on the patio. Service was fast and prompt. Food was fresh and good. I watched Texas beat Arizona in the Cotton bowl . The only downside is I love fries and had to order a shareable which does nothing for my start of eating healthy for the new year. Also no split checks. Outside of that everything was cool.

Best truffle fries I've ever had. They were so crisp and seasoned perfectly. Huge portion and great happy hour price. The outside was decorated so cute for Christmas and the service was great, very relaxing place to go after work or if you're in town.

Do you still have the winter wonderland igloos in april?

Do they still have happy hour?

Thanks for your question, Sophie. We do! Every weekday from 2-5pm.

To reserve a igloo it states that you have to buy a bottle, can I just buy a bottle of wine or do I gave to buy a more expensive bottle?

    A High end bottle.

What are NYEs at the Godfrey rooftop bar like? Average ages of attendees? Music genre? Party vibe? Would love any feedback if you have attended or heard of the NYE event at this hotel. Thanks so much!

Did you end up going? Id like to know how it was!

On average How long is the wait on a Saturday night around 930?

If you're doing bottle service you can call ahead. But just to get drinks and food on a nice summer night... just forget about sitting down. At least a 2hour wait

It was dimly lit inside and there was a guitarist playing music. We decided to do the 3 course Prince Geja's combination. The first course included swiss Gruyère cheese fondue with assorted breads, vegetables and fruits. After that they brought out Prince Geja's combination which was beef, lobster tail, shrimp, chicken breast, and sea scallops which you were able to cook in the boiling hot broth. I really liked how there was 8 different side sauces brought out so you could add some more flavor to the meat and seafood. The last course was chocolate fondue served with marshmellows and a side of fire. It was as if you were making smores because it also came with some graham cracker sprinkles. It also came with some fruits to dip into the chocolate fondue as well. The service was great. It was nice they had a coat check. A guitarist sits somewhere against a brick wall and plays music lightly but energetically. Service is friendly from start to finish and smiles are on everyone's faces. The menu is pretty easy to understand. You can get a three-course meal, or you can get each entree à la carte. You have two fondue candles in front of you, one for the cheese and dessert, and the other for the oil. We chose the three-course meal, and it was delightful. We started with the cheese appetizer. You get a basket of bread and fruit and we chose the seasonal cheese to dip. The oil for our meat was then left to heat, and we received a massive platter of veggies and meats for our main course. We chose the option for all selections of meat and seafood. After trying all the meats, I would opt for the lobster and shrimp. You can also substitute the oil for a broth. I would like to try the broth for next time. In one of the shakers, Gejas makes their own meat spice mix. It's recommended to put on the meats and even the desserts. It's a mix of tangy and savory and was a great compliment to the meal. We then chose the seasonal dessert, a white chocolate with vanilla cookies. Fruit, marshmallows, and churros to dip. We were so full by the time dessert came, but we enjoyed a few bites and took it home. The three-course meal, with five types of meat, came with about 10 pieces of meat. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but it truly is, with the apps, veggies, etc, your stomach will be full when you walk out of here. They also start the entire course with a mixed salad (so technically it's a four-course meal). It was very fairly priced, as well. Initially looking at the prices, you may think it's expensive, but it truly is a value with the amount of food they serve. This was rated as most romatic restaurant in Chicago. Its ambiance gives you the romantic feel, the guitarist adds to the atmosphere, and the staff is professional and friendly. This really was a great place and we enjoyed our time and meal.

Esmé, consistently One of Our Favorites in Chicago…read more We went to Esmé last night on a Monday and were pleasantly surprised to see both an event happening in the bar and a solid number of diners in the dining room. Not many Michelin starred restaurants can pull that off on a Monday, but Esmé always seems to have energy. This place has become one of our most reliable favorites. They change the menu a few times a year in conjunction with rotating local artists, and the restaurant itself feels more like a refined art gallery than a traditional dining room with white walls, clean lines, simple and elegant. Last night was no exception to their usual excellence. The experience is really anchored by Chris Gerber, a longtime Chicago hospitality pro, and his team. They are flawless. This is true hospitality in every sense of the word. They usually keep two signature dishes, and for good reason. The caviar supplement sounds odd on paper, but in your mouth it is absolute perfection. The cod sounds simple, but it is anything but, rich, decadent, and always one of the highlights. Everything new on this menu was also outstanding. Every course had beautifully balanced sauces that made sense with the dish, and the presentations were creative without being gimmicky or over the top. The plating always ties in with the featured artist in a way that feels thoughtful, not forced. One tip. Be careful when choosing your beverage pairing. We did not read closely enough and ended up with the more inventive pairing that included cocktails and a beer. It was fun, but afterward we wished we had gone with the higher end wine pairing instead. Bottom line. Esmé remains one of the most consistent Michelin starred experiences in Chicago. It is not just very good. It is reliably excellent every single time.

To echo several of the reviews below, the salad was awkward to share and scanty, the soup was good but the bread served with it felt like an afterthought, the sturgeon wasn't anything special though the sauce was quite good, and we are pretty sure the cut of beef was not wagyu or if it was it was not cooked the right way. The beef was the most disappointing part, I couldn't even chew through all of it. The add-ons were the best part - pasta was great and our dessert was delicious. I'd never been to Willow Room and liked that they had a four course dinner menu, with items I liked. I was able to make a reservation for a Saturday night at 8:15pm. PARKING Parking on Halsted on a Saturday night can be a nightmare, and it did take a minute to find street parking. North of the 1800 block is busier because there are several restaurants within a two block radius. Side streets are permit parking after 6pm. Meters on Halsted are $2.50/hr. ATMOSPHERE Willow Room was pretty packed. We had a reservation for 8:15pm and my party of two was seated right away. The restaurant features a full bar, dim lighting and is nice and roomy. They have banquette seating around the perimeter, in addition to tables in the middle. SERVICE Our server, who was very nice and accommodating during our dining experience, came by and gave us our menu's. I had already decided on the RW menu and after review, my friend was interested in the Beef Wellington (not on RW menu). Our server informed us that normally the whole table had to order off of the RW menu if one person does, but said she would check with the kitchen since this was the last day of RW. Luckily, we were able to proceed with ordering from different menu's. FOOD I ordered a raspberry Cosmopolitan. I'm a Riesling/Moscato girlie, but I tasted the Riesling and didn't like it. RW dinner was priced at $60. I ordered: First Course: Caesar Salad (Typical salad, was good) Second Course: Mussels (Tasted fine, came with a baguette) Third Course: Short Rib (Could've been slightly more tender and better seasoned. I've definitely had better. Wouldn't order again.) Fourth Course: Orange Ricotta Donuts (Donuts were very good. Three were served, a few more would have been more filling.) My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and: Truffle Fries (Fries were very tasty. I would order again if I went back.) Beef Wellington (The breading was buttery and very good. The beef could've been more seasoned. I wouldn't order.) Key Lime Pie (Was not sweet and had no taste. When our server came back and saw it was uneaten, she offered to take it off the bill. It should be removed from the menu altogether.) The busboys and server were very attentive. Our water glasses were always filled. OVERALL The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. Of all the food we ordered, I would order the truffle fries and Cosmopolitan again. I did leave full and did take my leftover Short Rib to go. Main dishes needed more seasoning. I would dine here again and try a different menu (brunch/lunch), or Happy Hour if they offer it.
