My boyfriend loved his old fashioned. Delicious desserts! I loved the Mississippi Mud Pie, which is a vegan chocolate mousse and cake dessert with fresh raspberries. Every bite was perfection. My boyfriend really enjoyed his strawberry shortcake cheesecake too. Fantastic and attentive service. Plates are cleared promptly, waters refilled, and plenty of check ins. There is a 90 minute time limit for reservations. There was a paper on our table letting us know when time would be up. With a reservation, each person must order a beverage and food item. Disappointing Service, Aggressive Management, and Double Standards at LH Rooftop We hosted a celebration at the LH Rooftop VIP Lounge on August 3rd, and unfortunately, what should have been a high-end experience turned into a deeply frustrating one. We spent over $3,000 on our reservation alone and were hotel guests staying on-site, yet we were left disappointed. We had a minor setback with the food coming out later than expected, which left us with a lot of food to eat at the very end. However, the real issues were the service and management. Early on, our server Ellie made an uncomfortable comment implying we hadn't paid for our event in full weeks prior. We had paid in full, and while we were over by $137 due to a few extra shots, we were well aware of it and settled it immediately. Later, I purchased two additional bottles of champagne on my personal tab for over $450. Despite full gratuity being automatically included, the bottles were simply dropped off on our table with zero flutes. I had to explicitly request flutes just to drink the champagne I had just bought. The biggest issue was the manager, Chase. Around 10:30 PM--30 minutes before the rooftop closed at 11:00 PM--my brother was preparing to order a bottle of Patrón so we could enjoy our remaining time. Instead of welcoming the business, Chase came over and abruptly told us we needed to "wrap it up," claiming our section ended at 9:30 PM and that he had already given us a "free hour." When I pointed out that we were currently drinking $450+ in newly purchased champagne and actively trying to order more, Chase became hostile, dismissive, and facetious. He claimed he didn't know how much a bottle of Patrón cost, but insisted that staying in the section required $500 every 30 minutes. I was shocked because it's just for the last 20 minutes of the night before closing and no one else could get in the section once we left because they were closing. When I explained that we were hotel guests, had spent thousands of dollars, and were trying to continue spending, he completely brushed us off. His attitude was extremely off-putting I literally had to tell him to check his heart because of how cold and confrontational he was being. Bottom Line: We were the only prominently Black group on the rooftop, and the aggressive pressure put on us during the final 20 minutes while trying to spend more money felt targeted. It was hard not to feel like a white group in the same position, spending thousands of dollars, would have been treated with far more respect and flexibility. LH Rooftop completely ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place for private events or VIP lounge bookings. read more

We tried to make reservations for brunch here but couldn't get them for the time that we were visiting Chicago. We were staying next door at the Royal Sonesta and decided to try our luck as walk-ins. That didn't work out very well for us. We went up to the Rooftop and gave our names and sat in the hot sun for at least half an hour waiting. There were some empty tables but we weren't called. Finally we were shown to a table by the big screen TV. Our server was Holly, who seemed in a rush. She pointed out the Purple Rain Sangria ($20) as the drink to get, so we decided to try it. It was ok but we've had better elsewhere. We also ordered 2 breakfasts and a Lolli-Waffle to share. They tasted ok, nothing special. As we ate, we noticed that Holly seemed to get a little impatient and was trying to hurry us up. I thought I was imagining things. We had to remind her that we were waiting for the waffle. She forgot about it and rushed off to make sure it was being made. The view was stunning and it was so nice there. We were enjoying our vacation until Holly came back and said that our time was up and we had 10 minutes to leave. We said "What?". She said since we were walk-ins, we only get 1 hour to eat and it was almost up! No one told us that and we were shocked! She brought us a to go box so we could eat our waffle somewhere else. Unbelievable! There were empty tables around us. This really upset us and we couldn't wait to leave this low class place by now. She brought us the waffle box, and I paid our bill and we left. We walked back to our hotel and when we opened the box to eat our waffle before it was cold, we saw that it had crumbled into pieces already. So that was our experience here. My wife ordered the Pineapple Paloma and the Wagyu Beef Ribs. The Paloma was $20, but it tasted weak. No one asked if we wanted water, and since I noticed a water pitcher at the bar, I assumed it was self-service. It wasn't until about 10 minutes after my wife received her drink that we were finally brought glasses of ice water. The Wagyu beef ribs were tender, and my wife liked that the sauce wasn't overly sweet. They were advertised as spicy, but they didn't have much of a kick. The onion rings that came with the meal were extremely hard. When I cut into one my wife gave me, half of it shot right off the plate. I ordered the Ribeye Steak Frites. It was interesting, I never had steak and fries slathered in gravy before. The dish had good flavor, but it just wasn't my personal preference. I did appreciate that they provided chopsticks. We ordered truffle fries and sticky toffee pudding a round of cocktails. I ordered the Smoke Show, because they were out of Bad Bunny. The drinks are so good, super flavorful and had the right amount of booze to keep us warm. Okay now the food, we were full from dinner so our light bites were perfect. The crips were crisp and salty and had the right amount of truffle that black garlic aioli is insane and the sticky toffee pudding reminded me of London. One star for the service. When I went to the rooftop bar I ordered a drink that tasted pretty good. However, after I ordered my drink and looked at the view, I went back to the bar to ask for a few napkins because my drink spilled all over me... there were about four bartenders at the bar and not one of them stopped, turned their head or payed any attention to my existence RIGHT in front of them. It took about two or three minutes trying to get their help until someone came up to me and brought me napkins. Mind you, there was no other customer at the bar at the time either. Just me. The server struggled at taking my drink order, she came back twice to inform me they no longer had the beer I wanted and I updated my order and she brought a different beer than I ordered. There were seats at the bar so we grabbed two and I ordered a mocktail. The mocktail was good but a tad bit too sweet. I wish it was made from scratch but I could tell it was all syrup. Cocktails are $20 each and come in a small glass, I had two and they weren't strong either. The scenery really carries the weight of this review. The view was incredible and you can get a good taste of it even from the standing room only area. We waited about 30 minutes for a table of 6 on a Saturday during brunch. The total was $200 for 6 people not including all of the drinks. I ordered the tiramisu French toast and definitely should have passed on that and ordered something different. It was way too indulgent, with too much chocolate and mascarpone. This rooftop is simply awesome. Beautiful view of downtown Chicago skyline. You're able to take great photos and listen to nice music. The inside of the hotel is really gorgeous too. Very classy and spacious. The dining area definitely is perfect for a weekend brunch event or simply just grab a cocktail. I do think $20/ a cocktail is steep but I guess that's the cost of living downtown. I choose to partake in the loco moco Hawaiian grind dish and it was incredibly salty and greasy. After a couple of bites, it looses it Spark. It just becomes bland. The jalapeño popper drip was tasty. I'd order that again. I get the whole "don't throw it off the roof" thing, but when you're paying around $25 for a cocktail, you kind of expect it to come in an actual glass, and it wasn't even a big pour.
