Gorgeous views, but could use a lot of improvements. Our table was directly next to the open bar area and we constantly had to deal with people reaching over our tables and getting in our personal space to take photos. The check in experience could be improved too because despite having a reservation, I was had to wait 15 minutes in the lobby to be allowed upstairs. The burger was decent and the birthday dessert was a nice touch. Additionally, the overall decor could use improvements. The neon lights clashed with the building (in my opinion) and the football game in the background was distracting. I'd recommend for the view and a cocktail, but wouldn't suggest being there more than an hour.
Made a reservation to LH rooftop for brunch several weeks in advance as we heard good things about the rooftop. It was a hot saturday afternoon and was very disappointed by the lack of covering/shade for the tables. I understand that weather is not something the business can control, but covering is certainly something that can be. The sun was beaming down on us and within minutes I started sweating. I asked our waitress if we'd be able to have an umbrella to cover our table and some of the other surrounding tables, and they refused. We asked the hostess if we could be seated inside to which they gave a bit of attitude and said we'd have to wait about 20 minutes. After patiently waiting to be seated inside, we waited at least another 30 minutes before someone came to take our order. Then came a long waiting period of 45 minutes to actually receive our food and we were then told that the kitchen is closed. Once received, the food was okay. The mango salad barely had any mango, the lobster biscuits and gravy were overcooked and the huevos rancheros were just okay.
Only came here for apps and drinks and a great view of the city. Only downside is right in front of the T tower which can ruin your pics. Come during sunset if you get a chance to. Was seated pretty quickly for a party of 2 no reservations and staff were very attentive. Got the lamb chops and bulgogi beef bao buns to get a quick bite. Make sure you dip the lambs chops in the purée!
Disappointing Service, Aggressive Management, and Double Standards at LH Rooftop We hosted a celebration at the LH Rooftop VIP Lounge on August 3rd, and unfortunately, what should have been a high-end experience turned into a deeply frustrating one. We spent over $3,000 on our reservation alone and were hotel guests staying on-site, yet we were left disappointed. We had a minor setback with the food coming out later than expected, which left us with a lot of food to eat at the very end. However, the real issues were the service and management. Early on, our server Ellie made an uncomfortable comment implying we hadn't paid for our event in full weeks prior. We had paid in full, and while we were over by $137 due to a few extra shots, we were well aware of it and settled it immediately. Later, I purchased two additional bottles of champagne on my personal tab for over $450. Despite full gratuity being automatically included, the bottles were simply dropped off on our table with zero flutes. I had to explicitly request flutes just to drink the champagne I had just bought. The biggest issue was the manager, Chase. Around 10:30 PM--30 minutes before the rooftop closed at 11:00 PM--my brother was preparing to order a bottle of Patrón so we could enjoy our remaining time. Instead of welcoming the business, Chase came over and abruptly told us we needed to "wrap it up," claiming our section ended at 9:30 PM and that he had already given us a "free hour." When I pointed out that we were currently drinking $450+ in newly purchased champagne and actively trying to order more, Chase became hostile, dismissive, and facetious. He claimed he didn't know how much a bottle of Patrón cost, but insisted that staying in the section required $500 every 30 minutes. I was shocked because it's just for the last 20 minutes of the night before closing and no one else could get in the section once we left because they were closing. When I explained that we were hotel guests, had spent thousands of dollars, and were trying to continue spending, he completely brushed us off. His attitude was extremely off-putting I literally had to tell him to check his heart because of how cold and confrontational he was being. Bottom Line: We were the only prominently Black group on the rooftop, and the aggressive pressure put on us during the final 20 minutes while trying to spend more money felt targeted. It was hard not to feel like a white group in the same position, spending thousands of dollars, would have been treated with far more respect and flexibility. LH Rooftop completely ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place for private events or VIP lounge bookings.
I loved my date night here! Gorgeous rooftop views! I'm so happy I had a reservation. They keep the reserved table area blocked off to give people privacy, which is nice. I definitely recommend a reservation or else you'll most likely be standing and it gets crowded. Excellent cocktails. I loved the Purple Rain Sangria and espresso martini. My boyfriend loved his old fashioned. Delicious desserts! I loved the Mississippi Mud Pie, which is a vegan chocolate mousse and cake dessert with fresh raspberries. Every bite was perfection. My boyfriend really enjoyed his strawberry shortcake cheesecake too. Fantastic and attentive service. Plates are cleared promptly, waters refilled, and plenty of check ins. There is a 90 minute time limit for reservations. There was a paper on our table letting us know when time would be up. With a reservation, each person must order a beverage and food item. Really lovely ambiance. Great tunes playing and it was wonderful to enjoy a night outside and take in the city lights and all the beauty.
We tried to make reservations for brunch here but couldn't get them for the time that we were visiting Chicago. We were staying next door at the Royal Sonesta and decided to try our luck as walk-ins. That didn't work out very well for us. We went up to the Rooftop and gave our names and sat in the hot sun for at least half an hour waiting. There were some empty tables but we weren't called. Finally we were shown to a table by the big screen TV. Our server was Holly, who seemed in a rush. She pointed out the Purple Rain Sangria ($20) as the drink to get, so we decided to try it. It was ok but we've had better elsewhere. We also ordered 2 breakfasts and a Lolli-Waffle to share. They tasted ok, nothing special. As we ate, we noticed that Holly seemed to get a little impatient and was trying to hurry us up. I thought I was imagining things. We had to remind her that we were waiting for the waffle. She forgot about it and rushed off to make sure it was being made. The view was stunning and it was so nice there. We were enjoying our vacation until Holly came back and said that our time was up and we had 10 minutes to leave. We said "What?". She said since we were walk-ins, we only get 1 hour to eat and it was almost up! No one told us that and we were shocked! She brought us a to go box so we could eat our waffle somewhere else. Unbelievable! There were empty tables around us. This really upset us and we couldn't wait to leave this low class place by now. She brought us the waffle box, and I paid our bill and we left. We walked back to our hotel and when we opened the box to eat our waffle before it was cold, we saw that it had crumbled into pieces already. So that was our experience here. I notice in the reviews about this place that their customer service was lacking. Hopefully, they do something about it.
Perfect day - hard to come by in spring Chicago but we got lucky. Sun came out as soon as we sat down for lunch and some light wind made it hard to navigate some food items but really cool place to try with great views. People make me nervous near the edge as well as loud groups. Yes were outside but we dont need the entire skyline of Chicago to hear you as well. Maybe I am just getting old. Our lunch was just enough - the bacon dip was great but the chips could be better. I take it they were baked but they just fell apart. I might rather have potato skins or even just sliced baguette. This place would be cool to come back to at night on a summer night or even a special party for a small group of girlfriends or something. Our server got lost for a second but the secondary staff was very attentive in clearing dishes.
Made a reservation here for lunch. Located on top of the LondonHouse - this was situated outside on the terrace. Really cool views and we had a nice day of weather. There was some delays in service despite a ton of staff running around. We started with the jalapeno popper dip which was good and came with tortilla chips. I just scooped the dip with a fork - had some nice kick to it and the flavor was good. For my meal I went with the burger - cooked medium. It came with a sauce on top of it and two large strips of bacon. This was really good, and I substituted the fries for a side Caesar salad. Overall really good - the old fashioned I started with was standard as well.
My girl friends and I came from San Diego to Chicago to meet our favorite author, one of the must to-dos for our trip was to check out a Rooftop Bar. I found LH online and booked us a reservation, after a quick dinner and a walk at Navy Pier, we walked over to LH Rooftop. The hotel itself is stunning it's at a prime location right next to the water so we were all really excited to go. We took the elevator which is directly in front of the host stand, I will say this, the hostess was so rude and really didn't make us feel welcomed, she told us that in order for us to sit at the bar we'd need to fill a food quota? Not told when I made a reservation but we had walked a good distance so of course we stayed. Our server was nice and accommodating, we were sat a cute low top. We ordered truffle fries and sticky toffee pudding a round of cocktails. I ordered the Smoke Show, because they were out of Bad Bunny. The drinks are so good, super flavorful and had the right amount of booze to keep us warm. Okay now the food, we were full from dinner so our light bites were perfect. The crips were crisp and salty and had the right amount of truffle that black garlic aioli is insane and the sticky toffee pudding reminded me of London. After our meal we went to the rooftop and took a ton of photos, because we came in the beginning of March there weren't any bartenders upstairs but it was just as fun and beautiful. Minus our earlier interaction we had a great time and would definitely recommend LH Rooftop to others.
Services are great friendly and super nice to be honest the drinks are great super good just right. Food ehhh it's mixed emotions to be honest the burger was good but way too much sauce and onions over kill bacon was super good. Steak fries ehhh that sauce the put on the fries not a fan of it it was just a bit weird to be honest and too much of it also kills the taste of the fries. The short ribs are not that good and not enough meat on them but more fat on them. The shrimp cocktail was good though not bad. Price for the taste way too much to be honest needs to be a bit cheaper for the taste but come and try it for your self like I always tell everyone but great views for sure.
One star for the service. When I went to the rooftop bar I ordered a drink that tasted pretty good. However, after I ordered my drink and looked at the view, I went back to the bar to ask for a few napkins because my drink spilled all over me... there were about four bartenders at the bar and not one of them stopped, turned their head or payed any attention to my existence RIGHT in front of them. It took about two or three minutes trying to get their help until someone came up to me and brought me napkins. Mind you, there was no other customer at the bar at the time either. Just me. The additional star is for the view. I would recommend this place to everyone I know because it's so nice however I have not been able to get past the poor manners and treatment that I received. I'm writing this review now after some time has passed simply because the service was so outrageous and unprofessional.
The views of the city are amazing and the drinks were tasty! The bad bunny is a great drink it's not too sweet and not too bitter. The area is however rather small and fills up pretty quickly even during the weekday when I went. If you have reservations for the rooftop that would be a better not option but I wouldn't suggest popping in just to go to the bar.
My wife ordered the Pineapple Paloma and the Wagyu Beef Ribs. The Paloma was $20, but it tasted weak. No one asked if we wanted water, and since I noticed a water pitcher at the bar, I assumed it was self-service. It wasn't until about 10 minutes after my wife received her drink that we were finally brought glasses of ice water. The Wagyu beef ribs were tender, and my wife liked that the sauce wasn't overly sweet. They were advertised as spicy, but they didn't have much of a kick. The onion rings that came with the meal were extremely hard. When I cut into one my wife gave me, half of it shot right off the plate. I ordered the Ribeye Steak Frites. It was interesting, I never had steak and fries slathered in gravy before. The dish had good flavor, but it just wasn't my personal preference. I did appreciate that they provided chopsticks. Overall, the food was average, but the view was wonderful. The service, however, felt lacking. I can't say for sure, but I couldn't help wondering if we didn't receive the best service because we didn't "look the part." We were driving home from Electric Forest, so I was wearing a Demon Slayer Hawaiian shirt, and my wife was dressed comfortably in a T-shirt and slacks. She wanted to order another drink, but our waitress didn't return until after we had finished eating. By then, we were ready to leave. Because of the slow and inattentive service, we ended up leaving a 10% tip.
We were bopping around Chicago and had to stop by Londonhouse since so many people recommended it. We had been to Cindy's right before and I do think I prefer it but LH was still good! It was quite crowded but we were lucky enough to get a table which helped prevent us from being slightly over stimulated by the crowd. We got some drinks which were good but tbh what we enjoyed more were the light apps. Their Mumbai fries were delicious. Such a fun idea and well executed. Great views and I think its worth coming up here but be prepared for the crowd! read more

The view is incredible--if you're looking for a chicago experience, this is a show-stopping one. The drinks themselves are good but pricy, which I expected in context of the experience. We ordered the frozen margs, the spicy hibiscus marg, and the forever summer. The margaritas were all good, not tooooo strong. The forever summer was very refreshing and easy to drink. We also ordered the truffle fries which were very crispy and the truffle flavor was not too overwhelming which we liked. Service was prompt and attentive. They are very strict about the time limit in place for reservations for tables, but you could move to the standing room only space. The only downside is there is absolutely no shade, so on these 90+ degree days, the heat was a factor! Overall great experience, will be bringing out of town guests back here. read more

When seeing the reviews before going I was surprised and expected higher ratings but after going I can understand why it's just 3 stars. Cocktails are $20 each and come in a small glass, I had two and they weren't strong either. I ordered the pineapple Paloma and the espresso martini, both were good but relatively small and like I said not strong. For $20 each those were not worth the cost. The scenery really carries the weight of this review. The view was incredible and you can get a good taste of it even from the standing room only area. We waited about 30 minutes for a table of 6 on a Saturday during brunch. The total was $200 for 6 people not including all of the drinks. I ordered the tiramisu French toast and definitely should have passed on that and ordered something different. It was way too indulgent, with too much chocolate and mascarpone. I could only enjoy 1 piece of 3 before feeling icky in my stomach. It was a $20 dish too. Pretty to look at but not enjoyable to eat. read more
We went to celebrate a birthday and started the evening on the rooftop, which offers an amazing view of the Riverwalk and the surrounding skyscrapers. The scenery was definitely a highlight. However, despite it being a Monday night, the rooftop was extremely crowded--there was barely any space to stand comfortably and enjoy a drink while taking in the view. We had dinner reservations at the restaurant downstairs, so after one drink, we headed there. The service was average, and the food was just okay. It seems like this place is better suited for drinks and light bites rather than a full meal. We tried the Bombay fries, which were tasty and came in a generous portion. Unfortunately, the crab Rangoon was disappointing--the crab meat didn't taste fresh, and the outer layer lacked the expected crispiness. read more

I expected more from this place. The drinks and food were okay and the outdoor rooftop space gets uncomfortably crowded especially on a Saturday night. read more

This rooftop is simply awesome. Beautiful view of downtown Chicago skyline. You're able to take great photos and listen to nice music. The inside of the hotel is really gorgeous too. Very classy and spacious. The dining area definitely is perfect for a weekend brunch event or simply just grab a cocktail. I do think $20/ a cocktail is steep but I guess that's the cost of living downtown. I choose to partake in the loco moco Hawaiian grind dish and it was incredibly salty and greasy. After a couple of bites, it looses it Spark. It just becomes bland. The jalapeño popper drip was tasty. I'd order that again. I think the hotel and rooftop are pretty if you're interested in being outside and you're interested in good photos. For food and drinks - I would think again if you're willing to spend the money. I'd return but maybe for one drink and nothing more. read more

A great place to watch the sunset! The views are amazing, and that was the reason we came. Our drinks were pretty good and priced to fit the rooftop view. Service was pretty quick and attentive even though it was busy. read more

Extremely hard to get a reservation after 4:30pm for the rooftop once the pop up starts. Holiday White Russian is delicious but drinks and food are typically overpriced. The holiday rooftop is adorable and you don't have to rent an igloo to experience it. You don't need a reservation to see the holiday rooftop but expect a line if you don't. read more

Immaculate views with the utmost respect and quality was served effortlessly here at the LH Rooftop. The servers graced the rooftop with such decorum while their etiquette was clearly normalized in such an environment. The vibe was spectacular! I honestly couldn't wait to be seated in our reserved seating. Which we were seated immediately upon arrival. Reservations are definitely recommended but not required. My daughter and I attended LH Rooftop on a Sunday Afternoon with reservations for 11am. It was a gorgeous afternoon while being graced with such outstanding hospitality from the LH Rooftop staff. We were seated smack dab in the middle with views from either sides. My kid was speechless of the views and blown away from being so high up while eating. Hahah! It seemed impossible for her. Definitely a time and memory to remember! We ordered the London House breakfast, along with the Sky High Cinnamon Bun. Also, I ordered the purple rain martini. It was pretty good! Something I wouldn't mind ordering again. The breakfast was great and the cinnamon bun put the sweetness on top. The portions were more than enough! Kid and I shared everything and still leftovers. Phenomenal service and food while being sun-kissed by the sun was amazing afternoon! You honestly can't beat it! Check em out! read more
Of course we came for the unbeatable view of the city. It's actually the best there is to offer! Had a few cocktails at the bar. We were not hotel guests but we went through the line to obtain access. The staff were so friendly and had great, positive attitudes. We will be back for the food soon! read more

Visiting from Texas and this spot was highly recommended for the stunning views. It definitely had stunning views, however seating is extremely limited and you def have to make a reservation. Drinks start at like $20 as well. The bartender was nice and friendly and added a flower to my drink because I wanted something girly so I'd say they had pretty good service. Not much else to write about though, I'd maybe come back read more
Had friends in town staying at the London house and met them for drinks and a light bite. Great view of river and ambiance! Service rather quickly, would recommend a reservation or going as a hotel guest. Cesar salad was phenomenal had an amazing homemade dressing. Would definitely come back read more
Some of the best brunch food I've ever had! I'm surprised they don't have a higher rating. First of all we were lucky enough to get the last cinnamon roll and I'm so glad we did. Our whole table crushed it! It's big enough for 4-5 easily. I kept it simple with the biscuit egg sandwich and biscuit was light and fluffy and bacon was crisp. Will definitely be back soon! read more

Very nice experience the rooftop was amazing and I tried the spicy hibiscus margarita which was super good and spicy. I did have the whole rooftop to myself, which was amazing especially since it was nighttime and I could see the skyscrapers. Beautiful experience and very pleasant management. Next time I will make sure to reserve a igloo, especially if I know it's gonna rain. read more

We were very excited to try this beautiful rooftop bar. We were seated with a PERFECT view for sunset. We ordered a round of drinks and everyone enjoyed their drinks while I had mine remade because there was a bug in it. I understand we're on a rooftop bar, no big deal. Another one was remade for me in an adequate time. We received our food and began digging in to only find out there was a hair inside of our jalapeño dip. The bite we took before we realized there was a hair in it was amazing. We also received the beef skewers and those were FANTASTIC. We told our server we found a hair inside of our food and instead of just politely taking the item back to the kitchen to inspect she made us point out where the hair was. She asked if we wanted another one and said "just so you guys know it's going to take about 20 minutes" not necessarily rude but we deemed it an inappropriate response. She did apologize about the bug but we didn't receive one about the dip. We waited for a manager to come over to our table at some point alas they did not. The view is great, the food was awesome too but maybe just taking an extra few seconds to look over food or drink before serving it to a guest would go a long way. read more

When I lucked up and got a last minute 1pm Sunday brunch reservation for two at LondonHouse the night before, I didn't really know what to expect. I just thought the view was pretty in pictures. Pictures don't do this place justice. Expect a breathtaking beautiful city view, great service, delicious food, and mindfully crafted cocktails. You might have to swat away a bee, especially if you get the Peach Dream cocktail. Apparently bees like bourbon too! read more
I am really skeptical of rooftops' quality of food and drinks, but LH really impressed me! The cocktails were well-made and strong with attention to detail. I got the espresso martini and it was delicious with a nice ratio of foam!! Not to mention the view is one of the best in the city. There's an indoor bar one level below the rooftop which is a nice spot to pop in when the unplanned rainfalls hit. The rooftop doesn't have much coverage other than over the bar area. Great views and a decent amount of space on both. Definitely will be back! read more

Do yourself a favor and book a reservation. Don't try to walk in. We reserved the day before, all the people for check in were kind of grumpy which was sad. Once we got to our table, they give you a card with what time you need to be done. Drinks were good, food we got was good and the view is beautiful. Pretzel board was delicious and the pumpkin basque cheesecake was sooooo good. We sat under the pergola on the left side if you're facing the view. Someone else mentioned this but I counted 12 spiders above/beside us. One almost dropped on me but my husband caught it and moved it. For us, not a big deal since these were normal autumn spiders that aren't a problem to us but for others I can see how that's off putting. read more

Always a good time!! During summer I make sure to check for reservations a month or two in advance if I want an optimal evening time, especially on a weekend. It's hard to get reservations otherwise. You could definitely walk in but I wouldn't recommend unless you are okay with standing room only next to the bar, and not really being able to be close to the side of the building to see the view. I recommend reserving around sunset so you can see the sunset glow and then the city light up! Make sure to reserve the rooftop and not the indoor area. There is no view in the indoor area, which is a floor below the rooftop. There's no windows so it doesn't matter that you're high up! Just feels like you're inside a hotel restaurant. I've been here a couple of times now and I always appreciate that the reserved table seating on the rooftop is next to the edge of the building so you can see the river, bridges, everything! Sometimes the people who are walk-ins don't stay in the standing area and they move to the space in between the reserved tables and the side of the building to get photos. I super super appreciate that the security and staff are diligent about asking those people to move back to the bar area, because that space is so small and they are basically hovering over your table and blocking the view! If the security wasn't on top of it, we would not have had as good an experience because it really changes the vibe when strangers are crowded around your table. The food is so good! I've tried a lot of different apps and mains here, and the menu has changed a little each time, so some things I had aren't on the menu anymore. I was surprised at how delicious everything is! Especially anything with wagyu or steak, and anything that is Asian-inspired cuisine. It's a high price point but it makes a lot of sense considering you are paying for good quality food with a great ambience. Cocktails are always great too! Some are pretty unique and all have been tasty. Definitely recommend this spot, especially when showing out-of-town folks around Chicago! read more

If you're looking for an attainable rooftop experience in Chicago, look no further! On a Friday/ Saturday night, you can expect a line to get on the elevator up to the rooftop, but the line moves quickly. We ended up waiting around 20 minutes on a Friday night at 8pm. Once you're at the top, the view is the real draw -- the bar itself is OK, but be prepared to spend $$$$ on drinks. A basic Gin & Tonic costs what a fancy drink would cost at a normal bar, but you're paying for the view. I'd definitely recommend stopping by around sunset; the view is spectacular and absolutely worth it. That said, I'd definitely recommend getting a reservation if possible. Most of the reserved tables take up the railing area, and the two small spots at the railing that are open to standing room fill up quickly (for good reason!) Overall, if you're visiting Chicago or showing folks around, it's absolutely worth a visit once! read more
Who can miss the opportunity to visit a rooftop in Chicago in the month of March when the weather is in 70s? Not me!? LH Rooftop is my go-to place to get a couple of drinks and soak in the majestic river and skyline views. We recently visited the rooftop to try their early St. Patty drinks. My friends got a Leprechaun Mimosa and Irish Luck drinks and I got an Espresso Martini. Irish luck was a bit sweet for my taste! I always get my out of towner friends to this place because of convenience as it's in the heart of the city and they offer good views. They also serve food and I've probably tried only once, it was OK! I prefer to get drinks at this place usually. read more

This is hands down my favorite rooftop spot in Chicago! I had a friend visiting from out of town, and I just had to bring him here. The place offers absolutely stunning views that give a holistic picture of how beautiful Chicago truly is. We arrived around 10 PM on a Monday night, and luckily, due to it being a weekday, there was no queue. We ordered the Bad Bunny and Forever Summer cocktails. Lately, I've been enjoying cocktails with refreshing flavors, so the Forever Summer was perfect for me. My friend, on the other hand, was looking for a stronger drink with more spirit, and he loved the Bad Bunny. Since we walked in late, there wasn't much seating available, but there are plenty of standing spots which worked just fine for us. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Great views, with decent food (on the pricier side). There are no shaded areas on the rooftop but that wasn't an issue for us, the hostess made sure everyone knew this info prior to being seated. Also worth noting it's standing room only unless you order food. Food portions/prices were typical of a higher end restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed hangin on the rooftop and soaking up the sun! read more
Came here for drinks on a Friday night. The rooftop area was smaller than I thought and it was too cold to actually hang around outside. I wish they had heat lamps or a covered area. It felt like a waste for them to not have something like that. I saw they did have those clear igloos but it didn't seem like they were in use. Idk might come back in the summer months... read more

Do I need reservations or is walk in fine?
Reservations are not accepted for the outdoor rooftop area, but you can make for the restaurant.
How do I make a reservation for the Rooftop (for brunch)? The reservations link only shows an option for indoor reservations
You can make the reservation on Tock. You should get an option for indoor or outdoor depending on the dates available. I had the option when I booked, however, outdoors was booked for weeks.
