I love this place so much! I discovered this fabulous Irish pub place almost a year ago while I was on vacation and now I live here and I was so excited to return. I was thrilled to see Juliana still worked here!! And she remembered me too! She has the most positive, amazing energy and provides exceptional service. Excellent cocktails. I enjoyed my Paper Plane and the Black Currant Mule knocked my socks off. Wow! So good! The Crispy Brussel Sprouts are incredible! I've lived in the Streeterville area for almost 6 years and this was my first visit to this gem? It was epic! Met my friends here. Juliana was our server. She was friendly, attentive and on point! It was a special occasion and she brought it. We all ordered the fish and chips. They are famous for it, as I'm told. I can see why. Huge cod filets in perfect batter. Crispy exterior and moist fresh & tender filet of cod on inside. Fries were more than perfect. Coleslaw was good but cut back on the carrots. Also, not crazy about their version of tartar sauce. Another case of an establishment being hidden-in-plain sight. D4 is located adjacent to a condo building in Streeterville, with several businesses nearby. Although the entrance was somewhat tucked away, I followed the person in front of me who appeared headed in the same direction- ha! Once inside, I was met with a convivial, bustling environment. For a midweek evening, sans any major sporting event (to the best of my knowledge) the bar area was pleasantly packed. Fortunately, I did not have to try to situate myself, as I was attending an event as part of a group in D4's event space. The room, termed the Library and Lounge, is a cozy and convivial setting that invited mingling. Even though we came in with a group, the happy hour (4pm-6pm when I visited) was in effect, with wine and beer deals. I decided to splash out and order a Martini which was prepared to perfection. In addition, there was a bountiful buffet of select appetizers. I usually don't go for fried food, but the chicken on this occasion made for a delicious exception. Other standouts included the sliders and vegetables with various dips. Overall this place is good! Great service and pretty clean. I'm not sure about parking as I walked here. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. They have great drink options that mix beers and liquor or mix ciders with liquor. Love when places offer that on the menu! The Brussel sprouts were good but could've been a little crispier. The fries/curry chips we got were loaded fries and had coconut curry, cilantro, sour cream etc. they could've been really good but they lacked toppings. Had brunch here this morning with my friends, and when we walked in the place was empty. I was a little bit nervous, knowing that this is Chicago and there were not many people in the restaurant. By the time we left, the restaurant was packed and I can see why. I had the huevos rancheros and oh my God they were so good. The eggs were cooked perfectly and I save every bite I had until my meal was complete. When I was finished, I wish I had more. If you get the fish and chips, it is a huge portion so you could easily split it with two people. It was crispy in outside with flaky inside. Definitely too must have for brunch. We made reservations, so it was nice to have. In the summer I can see this place being packed and their bar seemed to be a popular spot as we walked out after brunch. read more

D4 was such a gem not far from the river and we were pleasantly surprised that there was a lunch special! For $14 we all good half a sandwich and our choice of soup, fries or a salad. I chose the Caesar salad and Turkey BLT which were both spectacular. I loved the sourdough bread that came with the sandwich. Always enjoy our local Irish pub/restaurant. The food is always delicious and they have several gluten free options. Two of us had salads. I loved my chicken chopped salad. The guys had chicken sandwiches that they enjoyed. We started with regular and sweet potato fries. So good and piping hot! Servers are always attentive and friendly. Ambiance is warm and cozy. Well this was a pleasant surprise! March '25 - after walking through some sleet and snow I entered D4 and grabbed a spot at the bar. I was immediately greeted by Marco and poured a nice drink. Within minutes, I was served some incredible chicken noodle soup! You can tell this was homemade - it absolutely hit the spot on a chilly night. After some pleasant conversation I opted to take a sandwich back to my hotel. Marco advised me to swap the bun for a pretzel roll. Boy am I glad he did! Hadn't been to D4 in years, but we were in the neighborhood and went back. Still a great, solid place! Now we need kids menus and the chicken tenders and fries were really good. The fruit bowls were amazing- really fresh and large in size. Plus our waiter brought our kids a vanilla ice cream cone for dessert- huge hit! Stopped in here for a lunch meeting with a partner during a recent work trip. The place was very cute and one of the rooms was set like a library with book shelves filled with books along the walls. I felt myself staring off at the to read all the titles a few times. There was a fireplace next to our table too which was perfect for the 32 degree rainy weather. Our server was great and attentive. The meals were delicious too. I do wish they had a couple more lunch options, they do have some soup and sandwich items (which one of my friends got and said was great) but I wanted one of the other sandwiches that wasn't on that menu. Some of the best chicken tenders you will ever have! Every time I visit Chicago for work or pleasure, I make sure to swing by D4 for a Black Velvet and order or chicken tenders! Our latest visit in found us here on a Saturday afternoon in September, which was perfect patio sitting weather. We sat on the small patio and enjoyed the weather and our tendies. In addition, we ordered the short rib nachos. While the tenders were phenomenal as usual, the nachos were lacking a bit. The meat, while shredded nicely, was kind of dry and nachos themselves needed more sauce or sour cream. They were decent, but a bit dry all around. Service was good. It did take about 10 minutes from the time we were sat to get served, but once he got us, he had us. Inside is a beautiful, bright, but also dark wooded grandiose space that gives off the true Irish pub feel. It is at the base of a residential area with minimal signage, none that is flashy, so you got to search for it on your first visit in. But after that, you'll know exactly where those tenders are! Overall, love me some D4! I now know I need to stick with my go-to's only, which I am good with! read more

The only thing I ordered here was the chicken pot pie, so my review is just for the pie. The way the pie is served here is different from most pies I've had. The pie stuffing/filling is served in the pan and a round puff pastry sits on top. The puff pastry itself is pretty good. The texture is flaky and crispy. It's a bit on the dry side but still good. I unfortunately didn't like the pie filling though. The chicken was shredded breast meat and it was overcooked and a bit dry. The potatoes and carrots were "diced" but the diced chunks were huge. A chunk of potato would literally be bigger than the head of the dinner spoon. Thankfully they were cooked through and the texture was nice and soft, but the flavor and seasoning was lacking because the potato and carrot chunks were so big. This is somewhat redeemed by the cream base of the filling, which was quite tasty. The atmosphere was really homey and cozy. Service was fine but they were a bit understaffed so wait times were long. Neither factor into my rating, my rating is only for the food. read more

This is not your typical "Irish Pub." D4 is absolutely beautiful inside. We were seated in the fireplace area and it was us just lovely. We came for breakfast and the food was delicious. We were served free three bite chive scones with butter that were tender and delicious. The French toast is two large slices of thick cut bread served with berries and syrup. The Irish sausage is delicious. The Irish coffee is properly made and quite tasty. It is pretty upscale for an Irish Pub, but not in a snooty or pretentious way. I highly recommend it! read more

CATERING!!! I cannot say enough good things about the food we catered for a St. Patrick's Day party for 200 people. The chicken tenders were SO FLAVORFUL and SO CRUNCY, despite being in a hotel pan - we were absolutely shocked. The irish cheddar sliders had beautiful soft slider buns and the burger was so juicy, I couldn't believe it. The mac and cheese was delicious and perfectly seasoned, and the freshly fried chips and french onion dip were the star of the show - they arrived WARM and our guests absolutely loved them.
