Neat setup with another full bar upstairs and tons of booths. I would like to see what it's like as a social spot on a Saturday night. There are TVs but it's not quite a sports bar. We piped in here for a quick drink. Our local coworkers took us here since she's been here before. They have two levels of bars and seating so lots of space to come and grab a quick drink. They had great bar seats and a good drink selection. They had TV's so you can check out the game and tons of tables. read more

My husband I came here for dinner on a beautiful Sunday night! We got to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the sights and sounds of our amazing city. For an appetizer we shared the giant pretzel. The service here is prompt and friendly, and the restaurant is a nice dimly lit, cozy place. The live Irish music on Sundays 5-7pm is incredible, and I want to go back for more. The food is also amazing. The soft pretzel is so high quality and definitely not at all like a microwave one, and the cheese sauce it comes with is insane, and not spicy. The ambiance is an Irish pub. We were there around 4pm on a Wednesday and the place was lively. There was a huge group soon as you walked in having a drink together. They also had the big soccer game on. Most of the booths were taken. We got one of the last booths and we were greeted soon as we sat down and our order was taken. Soon as our order was taken someone else brought us waters. My honey ordered an Irish Coffee. He thought it was really good and loved the shaved nutmeg on the top. Stopped in Saturday night for some football and beers. This is our second stop of the evening. The upstairs was packed, but were you able to get a small table in the downstairs bar area. Service was very good and the beers were cold and fresh. For food, we just ordered a pretzel with some dips with it. The bacon jam was fantastic. We highly enjoyed our experience at the kerryman! Made a reservation for a group of six in advanced online and added on the toddler when we arrived. The entire building is very beautiful with multiple floors differentiating bar from restaurant area. Our Sunday server was super sweet and she was incredibly attentive with us and accommodating with the toddler. Better yet the food was delicious! 1. Food was tasty and quantity was good. It came in big trays. 2. We had 15-20 mins waiting on weekday. We opted to sit outside, it was a good weather so it was quite pleasant. However, I felt that if you are ordering dinner, the table is quite small. We were just 3 people on 4 ppl table but still we had diffculty. The server cannot walk through lane if carrying food so usually they walk by roadside and then enter near the table. Inside restaurant there is bar and dinning area too. 3. Finally an Irish owned Pub with Irish staff!! We cozied up to the bar in The Kerryman and immediately felt right at home. What a great spot and so lovely to hear the accents of home from behind the bar. It's a beautifully decorated space and the outdoor view is very enticing. It's a gorgeous building. They claim to have gluten-free but they do not. They have a gluten-free menu, but they also say pretty much 100% cross contamination. This is not how gluten-free works! I ended up with one option - tomato soup. This would have been fine but it was the worst attempt at soup ever. No tomato flavor and odd white chunks throughout. I had 3 bites and was done, yuck! We ended up here on Cinco De Mayo after every Mexican place in Chicago was closing early. The Kerryman has potential however the food was a waste of calories. The servers were all nice and very helpful but the food is over priced and bland at best. The cheese for the pretzel tasted as if it were a prepackaged cheese soup from the grocery store. The bacon jam was disappointing and the mustard was a bit much. The French fries looked delicious but after biting in them I quickly learned they were undercooked. I know some of the other reviews speak highly about this place. We were visiting from out of state and never been to Chicago before. Maybe the food is better on other days. The food here was DELICIOUS!!! We tried the Irish cheddar burger and the bacon jam burger. Both were amazing, but the bacon jam burger was better!! We paid about $20 per person with tax and tip included, which isn't bad for downtown Chicago. Ambiance was nice, we sat outside and enjoyed the weather. The servers were also great, and although it was a busy Saturday night, they still catered to our needs and made sure we had full water glasses and anything we requested. Kerryman is a decent neighborhood staple. The food is pretty good but not great and pretty overpriced for what you get. What the food lacks the atmosphere makes up for, however.
