This place is dirty. The bar stools need replaced, the booth seating is dirty as well as the condiment bottles sitting on the table. The finish on the wooden bar is peeling off. Not very appetizing. We went here because our hotel clerk suggested it when we were hungry at midnight and wanted a bar that served food. It was just down the street from our hotel and in such a lively location! There were always people walking by. We went every night of our trip, and it was packed every single night! Including a Wednesday! The food was delicious. We were addicted to ordering the soft pretzel and Reuben every single night. The drinks were fast and strong. I continued to order a gin & tonic and then tried an Irish coffee on our last night. Both great! The best part of this place was our server. He consistently took care of us (and started to remember us) and despite the insane crowds in there every night, he provided the best bar service we've ever received. On 3/28, my friends and I came in around 4 PM. While bringing our drinks, the server spilled two full beers on my jeans. I had to spend about an hour in the bathroom trying to dry them. What made the experience worse was how it was handled. The server never came back to apologize, and we were still given the full check, including the automatic gratuity. We had to ask the manager to remove it, and instead of apologizing, she said, "These things happen." Accidents happen, but how a restaurant responds says everything. The total lack of apology or basic customer service was disrespectful, and I would avoid dining here. read more

It's nearly impossible to find somewhere casual in Gold Coast, but Dublins is perfect if you don't feel like dressing to the nines for dinner and/or drinks. Perfect place to watch sporting events too. They had high quality bar food from my experience. I got their spicy chicken caesar wrap, which I was only slightly disappointed with because it tasted more like a buffalo wrap than caesar. I loved that it came on a little bed of caesar salad though and I also loved that the chicken was breaded inside. Wanted to show my friends a Chicago dive bar and were hoping for good food and it exceeded our expectations! Ruben and Lucas took great care of us and made us feel so welcome!!! My friends and I enjoy people watching and being in the industry, we look to see how other restaurants/bars run their place.. I will say that guy Ruben at the door (green sweater greeting everyone), we saw him hosting/seating tables, bussing/cleaning tables, signing tickets that other workers brought to him, and saw him kick 2 ppl out that were over served. We were like holy crap this guy does a little bit of everything and he was sooooo nice!!! Hope Dublins is taking care of him wish we had a Ruben at our place too that would multitask like that!! Even saw him combine some tables for a big party when it looked like there was literally no room for them to sit! We tried to steal him to come work at our place but he respectfully said he's happy with Dublins.. I moved out of the area a few years ago and was very disappointed on my recent visit. Although this place ain't exactly cheap, if you compare it to other restaurants in this area.....it's a lot better than paying $90 for a steak or $55 for a plate of pasta. There are many eateries doing that in this neighborhood. It was a late Sunday afternoon. Place was packed, but I found a lone stool at the bar. Music was loud. Bartender was coy, but friendly. One thing I was asked to do before ordering, was to let the bar hold on to my credit card! This is a first for me. Perhaps prevents dine & dash? I ordered a corn beef sandwich ($15) and a bottle of beer ($5.50). As I sat there waiting for my food, there was a heated discussion between a server and a manager. Another manager had to get involved as well. Despite the loud music, I could hear it. I was surprised they even discussed their problems right in front of a customer, but it is a very small and cramped joint. I could watch the kitchen do its thing from my bar stool. If cooks handling food without gloves is a deal breaker for you.....don't order anything to eat here. Sandwich arrived promptly, mediocre at best....along with a generous portion of French fries.
