We're back, because we love the craft beer at Kasey's Tavern At first glance Kasey's presents a bit like a dive, but it's end-to-end craft beer and great people! It was nearly full mid-afternoon on a Saturday (Feb 2026) and we were lucky to find an open table! Service was quick and friendly. We had two frosty-cold craft beers: a Half Acre Daisy Cutter and a Deschutes Patagonia. The Daisy Cutter was dark orange, dry and hoppy, a "new" pale ale that is now a classic. This bar offers a lot of different types of brews and has been around for a long time. I find myself frequently coming back because they're usually the first place open when I'm looking for an afternoon after work drink. You'll run into regular people here from the neighborhood and depending what's going on close by you'll run into people visiting from wherever for whatever here. Great bar, they serve frozen pizzas too. Service is always good, older feeling bar with plenty of TVs to catch some sports. read more

Kasey's Tavern proclaims itself as "Chicago's Second Oldest Tavern" - its website says a bar has been at this Printers Row location for over 130 years! My lovely wife and I met up with friends here for beers on a Friday afternoon and enjoyed our visit here. They have a terrific beer selection, and our table by the front window allowed for fine people and dog watching. Our friends enjoyed their thin crust pizza, which looked AOK. read more

Krazy thing about Kasey's is that I lived a block away from it for 4.5 years. Whenever I walked past, during evening hours it always looked overly packed and Im not a packed dive bar guy anymore lol. I was hanging around in my old hood Printers Row on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm, visiting a friend who lives nearby and thought it would be a good time to experience Kasey's as everyone I know thats been have always had great things to say about it. Walked in and maybe 7 people was there. A very cool woman by the name of Kelsey was working the bar. Its your normal neighborhood dive with all the good liquor, decent beer selection, TVs with games on and its daytime regulars. They had Hubbards Cave Coffee n Cakes so I had to partake...love that beer!!! They serve pizza but its a frozen pizza they throw in a pizza toaster I believe and its pretty good actually. Kelsey told me she doesnt recall the brand but they have it specially given to the bar. Not bad! Had a crown and ginger to round out the visit. As I left, I felt terrible that I never stopped in during my time living in the area. I like this place. read more

We stopped into Kasey's for a Friday afternoon beer. They had lots of different sports on TV. I enjoyed watching some track and gymnastics. We got an amber ale and a German wheat beer. Both were solid! The service was a little slow, but no big deal. We had a good time hanging out here. read more

Super charming place. Great selection of beer, both craft and big beer and spirits. Great Lakes Brewing's Nosferatu was on tap, so, of course I got it. Found this bar with a good atmosphere and prices, where getting both is rare around here. It's in Printer's Row close to a few hip and more expensive places. Kasey's Tavern only has drinks, but they have tons of these. Get something for almost any preference, hard or light. There's lots of local beers, many versions from famous and less famous liquor brands, and wines. A good place if looking for just a drink. I've been here a few times and have gotten quite a few things that other places have but sell them a lot more expensive. This is certainly one of the cheapest bars around here. Especially for its location that's quite an achievement. It's about $6 for the cheapest liquors. Most others are only a buck or so more expensive than that. Find something for almost anyone. Lots of local beers on tap. They even have lots of wines. Be divey or fancy. There's also lots of TVs so it's a good place to watch shows and games. Better when it's not as crowded. It's one of the few bars around this area that are open very late. They have pretty much just drinks and not really any food except maybe having some frozen pizzas. read more

It's a neighborhood spot that we had frequented multiple times. You won't be rushed, but you'll have to be persistent if you want a drink at the patio. There's signs to order from your table but it depends on the staff that day. We tried multiple times to flag a bartender to order a drink. Even after they acknowledge you and confirm they'll be back for your order, you'll have to just be persistent and go to the bar. When you go to the bar, they're too busy to acknowledge you or take an order. You can stand there for a while while they chat up customers or their co-workers. read more

I'm a huge history buff and nostalgia fan. Kasey's was on my radar long before I arrived. I couldn't wait to visit and was so happy I did. Probably the oldest bar I've ever visited. My creative imagination could just see the patrons of long ago chugging pints and shots of whiskey. It was quiet and quaint. Can't stand a bar where the music is so loud that you can't hear yourself speak. This place was perfect for conversation with another. Definitely add this to your list when in town. Came back Thursday and it was during the afternoon. Lot better experience. When Jeopardy came on they turned the sound on the TVs on and people played along. When Jeopardy wasn't on they have a touchtunes machine so people can choose music!! Liked the bartender she was personable. Had a few different beers on special can and drafts. Have like over 15+ drafts which is good for variety but not Soo many where it takes you forever to decide. They still upcharge for neat pours but I don't normally drink liquor when the sun is shining so normally problem there. It's hard to find low key places in Chicago - but this is my perfect haven. No frills, you get a great selection of beers for a cheap price. Pours are . Service is good and the atmosphere is incredibly relaxed (slight more crowded as the night goes on). I'm from Boston, and was missing the blue collar, chill pub feel. Also there are tons of tv screens for game days. Definitely making this my go to for beers. FYI - not much as far as food goes, some tiny frozen pizzas. You can bring your own food though. read more

This is my favorite local bar. Located in the heart of Printers Row, this no-frills bar is iconic Chicago sports and locals. At this time they are maintaining all precautions for COVID-19 such as temp checks at the door, limited capacity and outdoor sidewalk seating at 6-ft distances. The bartenders and bar backs here are amazing and take care of you. They have a rotating and extensive on tap local, regional and hard-to-find beers. They make heavy handed cocktails (but you'll find no fruity margs or wine list here) - which is a good thing! It's Chicago neighborhood pub at its best with the tin ceilings, high tops and wood panel walls that have soaked up local history. Cash for tabs under $10 but don't worry, you'll definitely cozy up for a few here. In "normal/pre-pandemic" times, this place was packed before Bears home games (proximity to Soldier Field), the place to start your St.Patricks Day drinking, and the warm hole-in-the-wall while you and your fellow Blackhawks loyal took shots watching the OT games...It's a place to throw some back with your co-workers and in the summer, to meet for beers after 16" softball at Grant Park...It's a staple to the South Loop. Stumbled across this place and I'm glad I did. Drinks were affordable $6.75 for a Jameson & ginger! Just paid $9 down the street. Score! Bartenders were really friendly and social.. on a busy Friday night that says something about how good the bartenders really are! They have TV's all over with a variety of different things to watch. Seems like a locals place with a few tourists like myself. Digital jukebox.. a variety of music plays depending on clientele. I come here from time to time as I live in the area. I wouldn't say it's one of my favorite bars in the neighborhood, but it is a convenient location and they have some good drink prices. One of the main reasons to come here is because there are plenty of TVs for watching sports. You can sit at the bar or at a number of small tables along the opposite side wall. Anywhere you sit will have a good view of the TVs. Some of the best reasons to come here are the $3 tallboys of Hamm's, $3 pints of PBR, and the special beer tappings they do from time to time. The main reason I don't come here very often is the lack of food. They do offer little pizzas that are probably microwaved, but that's about it. I wish this bar had daily food specials like some others in the area. That would definitely bring me in more. Overall, this is a nice small neighborhood bar that's worth stopping by if you're in the area. read more

Fantastic hidden gem in Printer's Row. This place has one of the oldest liquor licenses in Chicago I believe. It hasn't always been Kasey's, but a bar of sorts has occupied the space for over 100 years. There's a small outdoor patio on the sidewalk if you like to sit outside. Inside is a great mixture of classic Chicago dive/Irish/historic bar. It's just one of those bars where you walk in an instantly feel at ease. A place where you will have no problem hanging with friends for a few hours to watch a game. Highly recommend. read more
