We stumbled upon this little gem on Dearborn while attending a concert, and what a great find! I think that downtown sometimes fun, chic places can be hard to find in certain areas. The space is on the smaller side, but that's part of its charm. Solid joint in my old stomping ground, the South Loop! They have a pretty decent happy hour that starts at 4pm on weekdays. The cheeseburger is very good at $14 and comes along with fries. The small charcuterie is really good as well for $10. They have properly priced skewers as well in which I will try on my next trip. Most of the HH cocktails are $12-$13 and beer is $6. I can vouch for the daiquiri and aviation. House red is decent also...$12 price point for it should probably go down for HH. I have been 3x thus far and the bar team has been different each time. I believe I was told by one of the guys that they rotate out every day with a different crew. I wonder whats that about? Decor in the joint is pretty cool and has a wooden bar. I love that South Loop has a joint like this in Printers Row as it is very much needed. If I still lived there, this would be my spot. I have to update my review because I've been here a lot over the past year and tried many more drinks, and the food! They have a great variety of cocktails. The food is excellent! The charcuterie board is delicious and the cheeseburger is one of my favorite cheeseburgers ever!! I love the pickles and gooey cheese, and double patty. I was wandering around on our last night in Chicago and feeling very wishy-washy about where to stop somewhere for a drink. I found myself on this very cool little stretch with a bunch of promising joints, but I was drawn to Vitalogy on Dearborn. I love that Pearl Jam album and the place had the dimly-lit atmosphere I crave in a bar, so it seemed like a no-brainer. After sitting down, I perused the menu and immediately noticed the Manhattan, which happens to be one of my favorite drinks. It's also a really good test to see if a bartender knows their stuff. My bartender knew her stuff, because this was one of the best Manhattans I can remember consuming. I must have looked like I was enjoying it because she pointed out one of the specials, the Hey Puddin! ("Stranahan's single malt whiskey, Dolin blanc vermouth, banana liqueur, walnut bitters"), and said it was her spin on a Manhattan. Obviously I'm not going to say no to that, and boy was she ever right. It has the flavor profile of a top-notch Manhattan but it's enhanced with the banana liqueur and the walnut bitters. It's so, so good. At this point, I completely trusted my bartender so I put myself in her hands for my final beverage. She made me a drink without telling me what it was and I was blown away. It was exactly the sort of cocktail I'm generally drawn to, and the depth of flavor bowled me over with every sip. (It turns out it was The Nocturnalist ("Wolf Point Rye, Campari, Amaro Nonino, Giffard Cacao, Walnut Bitters, Salt") and I would heartily recommend it to anyone.) Vitalogy on Dearborn is a seriously special little place, and easily one of the coolest, most inviting bars I've ever been to. It makes me sad that I'll probably never go again. Stopped in for a drink on a Tuesday night. There is a step up to get in but otherwise pretty accessible with 2 unisex bathrooms in the back. The bar is lovely, new with the business, and the staff were friendly. Talynn made a wonderful cosmo and it was pretty. According to the regulars, she is fantastic at craft cocktails. Vitalogy on Dearborn is probably my favorite and go-to spot in all of Chicago right now. Let me get the best part out of the way first: their steak skewers during happy hour are the best-kept secret in the city. They've singlehandedly brought me back for happy hour more than 10 times in the past year--and I don't even live in Chicago. Every time I'm in town, this is a must-stop, and those skewers are the driving force. They're marinated in what tastes like a Korean-style marinade and finished with a spicy aioli drizzle. They are absolutely unbelievable--and I eat a lot of meat at a lot of places. The vibes are just as strong as the food. It's like a speakeasy meets a fancy dive bar meets a neighborhood hangout, with smooth jazz and piano-bar energy layered in. It just works. I recently went during their Christmas special, which was especially cool because each drink on the special menu was crafted by a different bartender. It really shows how much effort they put into connecting with their guests. For both happy hour and regular drinks, I usually go with an Old Fashioned. If you're a fan, they make a great one--and it fits the vibe perfectly. My advice: start with happy hour (they'll hook you), and go from there. read more

I had a Dante's Inferno, because I love mezcal and my husband had an old fashion. We both really enjoyed our drinks. The cocktails are $18. Which I think may be on the pricier side but most bars in Chicago have their cocktails priced like this. There are a lot of tables and a long bar for ample seating. Came here with some friends on opening night! The owner (James) and our bartender (Austin) as well as everyone else behind the bar were very nice. I thought it all went very smoothly for having just opened. James had Austin make me a complimentary off-menu drink with brandy (not normally my go-to) and surprisingly I loved it!! Their cin cin martini was good and the second city milk punch was beautiful. I think Dante's Inferno might have been one of my favorites. I'm struggling here: new Printers Row location / you want them to do well for the neighborhood. Because they are new - let's cut them some slack. While the space is cozy, and the staff are friendly (wish they didn't vape while on-the-clock), the flatbread was "flat"; however the charcuterie board is a good option ($28/large); cocktails start at $18 (gulp), and wine pours are weak (under 4 oz pour. At $18/glass a an extra ounce or two would make a difference (neighborhood). My guest decided that she would not return; as she reminded me: it's $18 plus tax & tip or $23.50 for a small glass of wine. Because I'm in the neighborhood I'll continue to support it.
