We just got in town yesterday and went to the location on South Wabash. Between last night and tonight we tried several different places and some of them were hit or miss and my son was starting to get hangry so I said "do you wanna go back to Elephant & Castle where we know it's gonna be good?" He said yes! So this location was actually the one closest to us this time. Just like the other location we were greeted quickly, the place was rowdy and lively, in a good way. It's the NBA finals so they're packed with jovial people. Of course it's clean. We got our appetizers within 10 minutes and our food came five minutes later. Everything was piping hot and fresh and our waitress was amazing. This is now a staple for us when we visit Chicago.
Had breakfast here prior to a conference. Service was quick and friendly and fast. Coffee was great and they were able to do a substitute for ther eggs hollandaise (avocado and tomato instead of ham) to make it vegetarian for a slight upcharge. Prices are super affordable and quality is great! Love the English pub theme vibes.
I was stayin at the Central Loop hotel on a Monday night. This cool restaurant is attached to it. I went in and got sat at a table. Decor was cool. I ordered the fish and chips. It took a good while to get my order taken, the waitress was nice but took a while to get checked on at my table haha. Anyway, it was delicious fish and chips. I ordered the bread pudding to go, I didn't get the custard sauce with it unfortunately but it was still warm and nice.
The ranch and burger sauce were very tasty. My teens loved their burger and Caesar wrap. The fries were crispy, needed a little salt. The English pub atmosphere is fun, lots of soccer on the TVs. I got the leek and potato pie. Really delicious. Crispy top, well seasoned, could taste the leeks. The service was friendly and quick since we were on the way to the theater.
I saw that this place was opened late so my friends and I went to get a quick bite after a night out. It wasn't too busy at 10 PM. Pretzel bites (4/5): These were so salty but in a good way. The bacon and beer cheese dip was hot and thick which paired well with the pretzels. Chicken wings (2/5): We did half buffalo sauce and half honey garlic. It was pretty basic. Definitely just bar food so it wasn't that great. A bit tough. The wee pie flight (3.5/5): This was small portions of each of their 4 signature savory pies. My ranking would be chicken pot pie, shepherd's pie, cheesy leek potato pie, and then the steak and mushroom pie. I expected them to be hotter? The puff pastry was okay. It is a fun way to try all their pies though. If you are just looking to drink and have a snack, probably a good spot. Service was okay. Seemed like they had a lot of people training so everything was a bit slow but no problem.
A good option for a late night snack. Their kitchen closes at 1AM (if I remembered correctly). The servers were nice and it was a cute place.
What a glorious experience I had here! I would give them ten stars if I could and that's not just the Old Fashioned talking. I had the best fish and chips of my life. it as served with two lemons, fries and delicious Cole slaw. I was so glad they had malt vinegar on hand. That gave it the perfect finishing touch. Tony had the pie flight and I sampled them all. I think my favorite was the potato and leek, which tasted like potato soup in a pot pie. You also get a Shepherd's pie, steak pie and chicken pot pie. Our server, Omar, was a dream come true. Excellent dinner and service. I highly recommend!
Very cool and stylish English Gastropub with cool posters, art and other relics of UK culture on the walls - very nice pies as well as cheesecakes. Their NA beverages are also off the hook, like the Apple Fizz and the other fruit flavored one. The server also made an amazing Arnold Palmer. Check it out, especially if you are staying at the Central Loop / Club Quarters Hotel on Adams.
Just got back from Dublin and Liverpool, had fish and chips all over Chicago, this is and will always be #1. The rest of the menu is ok, but if you're craving a proper UK/Irish style fish & chips, this is the one, trust me, I've done the research. Get a pint of Old Speckled Hen or Guinness to par with, and I usually get the double portions, amazing!
A classic pub spot with food that gives you a warm and cosy feeling. Came here for breakfast and dinner - service was great both times. The English breakfast was good - would've loved some English bacon or blood sausage but solid nonetheless. The bread pudding French toast was DELISH. For dinner we ordered the mini pie flight - they were nothing special but still fun to have. The fish and chips were quite good, the chips having a nice crunch.
I stopped in here at about 11 PM on a Tuesday night in mid November. It was moderately busy. They have a late night food menu. I had a flatbread and it was good. The service was very attentive. Decent selection of craft beer on tap. I was staying at the hotel so this was very convenient for me. Nice British Pub sort of feel to the place.
If I lived in Chicago this would be my weekly go to! The atmosphere is laidback, staff friendly and efficient and the food is delicious at great prices! Highly recommend.
A solid happy hour option. The interior is festively decorated, with lots of British decor. It's a fun atmosphere, with a bustling crowd. There is plenty of seating, even for large parties. The service was quite slow - it felt like there weren't enough waiters for the number of customers. The happy hour deals are really good. I highly recommend the fried pickles, which are freshly fried and served piping hot. The sweet potato fries were crispy and also freshly fried. They have some delicious dessert options. The bread pudding was still warm and paired well with whipped cream. The cheesecake was dense and sweet. They had a good variety of drinks as well. read more

Another great addition to our favorite places list! Cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service. I tried the fish and chips, and it was honestly the best I've had in Illinois. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great comfort food and a nice vibe and especially fish&chips!:) read more

Lunch on Saturday. Started with the mini sausage rolls and curry ketchup. 8 pieces wrapped in flaky crust. Good, but dipping into the curry ketchup was the game changer ...great appetizer $11,95. Ale and onion soup $8, I consider myself a French onion soup connoisseur and give 5 out of 10 stars because it lacked a strong beef or onion flavor, but the melted cheese was great. Citrus chicken salad $17 grilled chicken prepared nice tasty peanut based dressing and mandarin oranges. Enjoyed drayght beers, Eliot ness and Smithwick. All staff very pleasant. Reasonable priced menu. English pub vibe. They also were offering a brunch menu. read more

Always on the hunt for late night bites. I bookmarked them about a month ago and went Friday night at like 1230a. We we greeted and promptly seated. We ordered drinks and food, which came out hot and fresh. Service was chill and cool. Pot pies were just ok, the fish and chips were pretty good. Drinks ok. For late night vibes its a cool spot. Kitchen open until 1am on the weekends, love it! I'd return. read more

Melt in your mouth buttery flavor with a nice light crunchy crisp. Service was quick and friendly. Nicely seasoned fries as well. Coleslaw was a nice surprise, very tasty! I'll be back again, hopefully a soccer game will be on next time. read more

On the walk back to our hotel one night we happened upon Elephant & Castle and decided to grab dinner and I'm glad we did as it did not disappoint. Party of 3, we grabbed appetizers, entrees, desert and cocktails. Our server was fantastic; checking in on us at perfect intervals and offering recommendations. We started with the pretzel bites and hummus platter. Both were excellent and great sized portions. The only negative I'll say about it is that the cheese sauce for the pretzels was runny but had good flavor. For entrees we had the chicken pot pie and the shephard's pie, which each came with a salad. the portion size was perfect for the pie and the salad was large. For dessert we had the bread pudding and big ben brownie. Both were large portions and very tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy, the dining room split by a a fireplace that made it feel intimate and the english decor was charming. The price of everything was very fair and the quickness that our food came out was fantastic as well. We would recommend this restaurant and will return during future stays in Chicago. read more

My husband and I went to an Elephant and Castle in Chicago while we were still dating. I was trying to find that location but I don't think it exist anymore. I remember going down a few steps to get to it off the street. We ended up here for dinner this was not the right location, but the staff was fabulous and I had the best fish and chips I've ever had. My husband had chicken tenders and chips and he said they were good. Loved seeing the Pride shirts on the staff too. read more
A classic English pub in the loop with lots of TV's to watch any game you want. Pretty attentive service, but it can get a bit loud and hard to hear. Unfortunately, the shepherds pie wasn't up to their normal standard. More mashed potatoes than meat and vegetable substance. But the side salad is always a nice compliment. read more

We were staying at the hotel next door and stopped in here for a bite after we landed. The bar is awesome. We loved the amount of tvs that were on to watch all the football games. The restaurant is clean. They are open 7am-2am everyday and the kitchen is open late so perfect if you are grabbing a late dinner. The staff were really nice but I will say the service is a tad slow, make sure when you come you have plenty of time. We ate here several times and everything we ate we liked. I would really recommend this place if you are in town around the area. read more

Why 4 stars? Because it was 4-star comfort (aka drunk) food. --- --- --- For the record, I was not drunk, I was just nursing a 12 hour hangover because I'm old and had 3 drinks the day before. So this still qualifies as a greasy hangover meal for me and it was exactly what I needed. I will admit, I was not excited about patronizing a 3.5 star establishment. I have standards! But future Community Manager, Ines M, berated me and the rest of our group until we complied. I reluctantly walked over as she stood nearby, threatening us both with weapons and promises to sabotage our future marketing emails if we dared to stray away for an alternate dining destination. While waiting in line for the bathroom, she yelled at me again that there were other bathrooms downstairs, and then mouthed the words, "If you even consider sneaking out of here while I'm in the bathroom, you will live to regret it." I mouthed "I have family" and assured her that I was staying put. I arrived to the table and took a look at the menu. Suddenly, I didn't feel like I was only here because of the countless threats. I was actually intrigued with several of the options. But once my eyes were laid upon the "Cheese Toastie" -- a grilled cheese with prosciutto, I realized I was done scanning the menu. I love grilled cheese, I love prosciutto and I love not being sabotaged at work by a spurned colleague. It turns out, the cheese toastie was quite enjoyable. It wasn't at the level of a high-end grilled cheese, but I really dug it and was sad when it was gone. Most importantly, it was like hangover medicine and made me feel much better, so I'll round up from 3-stars to 4 for that alone. The moral of the story here is: when someone threatens you, do exactly what they say and don't get hurt. Especially when prosciutto is involved. (For those concerned, there were no actual threats involved in this experience, only encouraging persuasion.) read more
I'm always up for a good pub. I just feel at home there. This has the right look and the ability to seem like it's in the basement when it's at street level. They have most of the beers you'd expect at a British pub plus some really good local craft beers. They also have wine, cider and spirits. My wife went with the chicken pot pie for dinner and was very pleased. I went with the butter chicken and it was a respectable take on the Indian classic. Good and friendly service. read more

I came to this neat little pub for a group event. This is a traditional English pub, with a slight soccer theme. They have a huge dining area with a full bar with seating. The bar offers signature cocktails, beer, wine and spirits. They have televisions above the bar that usually has sports, namely soccer. There is limited metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance. The staff there was very friendly and courteous. The pub runs a daily happy hour with beer and sharable discounts. They also have daily specials. They serve burgers, soups, salads, pot pies, sandwiches, wraps, chicken and fish. You will find traditional English dishes such as Shepards pie, bangers and mash, and Yorkshire. I kept it traditional and ordered the fish and chips. It took about 12 minutes for them to have ready and it was a lot of food. It tasted average at best though. All I remember is telling my friends how my meal was and them asking me what did I expect from pub food. The consensus of most everyone at my table about their food. They all got different items from the menu and concluded that their food was "Just ok". I like the pub's vibe. It is is chill spot Their food is reasonably priced, but not that good. If you are at the pub drinking and need a little something to nibble on, i guess it will do. I just would probably find somewhere to eat, if my primary objective was to fill my belly. read more
