I haven't been to Harry Caray's on Navy Pier in ages but stopped in before a meeting I was attending. We sat on the patio and it was perfect. We had a table in the shade and enjoyed a nice breeze. Our server was so sweet and helpful. She had such a great attitude and was so attentive. We enjoyed a nice glass of Chardonnay and a Lavender Gin Collins. We shared the spinach dip that was delicious. It was light yet full of flavor. I look forward to returning for lunch or dinner. read more

I received the wrong order; even though the waiter pointed out that the side salad would be an extra $2, I was given a full-size one. The waiter explained later that side salads are only house salads. Although I mentioned California, they brought me a Cobb salad. The waiter made me feel like I should have known the restaurant's rules about salads. The salad wasn't fresh, with wilted lettuce. The burger was a jalapeño version topped with a whole jalapeño; the jalapeño was undercooked, and the burger meat lacked seasoning. The beer was warm. It seemed the waiter focused more on tables ordering cocktails, and what really ruined my experience was the hostess telling someone it was okay to smoke near the restaurant. I chose the outside table because of the warm evening, but it seems they don't know smoking isn't allowed anywhere on the pier. I left my partially eaten food and paid for all the items even though I didn't order them. Overall, if you want cocktails and appetizers, this is a good spot, but for a complete meal and cold beer, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

Our lovely friends from Los Angeles are in town and immediately wanted to hit the ground running; and running they / we did. The Navy Pier was stop #1 with Harry Caray's Bar and restaurant being stop #2. This lovely restaurant has so much sports memorabilia on every wall, door, nook and cranny everywhere, you need an audio tour headset to understand the history of the iconic Mr. Harry Caray. The menu was sports bar centric and us two people ordered (of course) a Chicago footlong Hot Dog with all of the fixings. I must admit, it was pretty good! Since I moved here (Chicago) four years ago, The Wiener Circle was my hotdog place. But with our guests in town they jumped all over Harry Caray's and of course, I politely dove in also. It was very busy here on this warm and beautiful day and the service here was very good and the ambiance a terrific show for tourists not familiar to Chicago and its love of sports. Such a perfect location at the start of Navy Pier! Tons of sports memorabilia from Harry Carry's reining era! This is a family sports bar and restaurant is how I'm describing it. There is an outdoor bar on the patio with a lot of seating. Tons of seating inside as well. The food was decent and worth it for a touristy spot. Because of its location, there is a slight breeze from the lake. Combined with umbrellas for table shade, it was the perfect afternoon pit stop experience before making our way further on the pier. The service started off a bit slow, but once our server got going, she was perfectly fine and attentive for the rest of the meal. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. The dish itself was good, but not anything that truly stood out. I did add crumbled sausage for an extra $5, which felt a bit disappointing since there was barely any sausage noticeable in the dish, definitely not worth the upcharge. For an appetizer, I tried the toasted ravioli. It was tasty, but the portion was very small for the price. Good flavor, just not very filling. Overall, the food was good but not amazing. After walking 6.5 miles from Grant Park to the Navy Pier, finding this restaurant was like finding an oasis. On a warm Friday afternoon in September, sitting outside here with a cold Goose Island was perfect! Since we were visiting from NJ, my wife and I wanted to try the Chicago hot dogs. The foot longs here were fantastic! I ordered mine with Onion rings which were also very good. Inside the place is very cool with so many photos of celebrities everywhere. Crystal was our server. She was friendly and attentive. Reservation are recommended but walk ins are welcome. Patio dining and inside restaurant is very spacious. Memorabilia and pictures are scattered throughout the building. Walk up bar in patio section very busy. Scenery on patio is great for people watching, water views, and live music. Had lunch this past week and enjoyed the food and ambience. We sat outside and people watched as we enjoyed our lunch. Food was very good and pretty much as expected. Not a fancy restaurant but a fun place to have lunch. The inside was a treat to see with all of the old Chicago Cubs and White Sox baseball memorabilia featured throughout the restaurant in a museum like atmosphere. She set me up with a great bar tender and server (I unfortunately forgot their names). I was pleasantly surprised when Ksenia emailed me about a updated even menu, regular menu, and catering menu and I VERY HAPPILY changed up my menu for the party Everyone raved about the food. I did a cocktail type party so open bar and hearty apps! It was so fun. they decorate so beautifully for Christmas so I did not have to decorate for my birthday. Everyone had a blast. Although it looked crowded my party was able to walk right up without a reservation and get a choice of inside or patio seating, we chose outside to people watch and listen to a live band that was at the Navy Pier for the evening. The patio was well lit even as the sun went down so we were still able to enjoy our meal as the night fell. I felt like I was eating a high priced fast food burger except I'd argue the burger was worse than most fast food burgers I've tried. I like to come here before attending a play at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. The service at the bar was attentive. I tried the blueberry cider which was too sweet for me. The spinach artichoke dip had too much spinach that got caught in my teeth. Maybe it would have been better if chopped up more or less of it and more dip. The foot long hot dog came with a dill pickle and fries. The bun had sesame seeds which I could have done without.
