My husband and I were staying at the Courtyard Marriott Magnificent Mile and we walked over one night. I was so excited to try their turkey burger and hand cut sweet potato fries, and they did NOT disappoint. My husband and I wanted to split the Brussels sprout salad, and the team split it for us! It was such a courteous and thoughtful touch; and it was absolutely phenomenal!!! So flavorful and filling... I barely got my turkey burger down. :) I never nabbed a photo of the turkey burger because I ATE IT! I got it on a gluten free bun (GF foodie here) and it was still great. The fries warmed me from the inside out: imperfectly cut, delicious, and quickly became my new comfort or food. The staff was absolutely out of sight; kind, attentive and took care of very detail. The ambiance of the bar opening to the street on the perfect night was the perfect touch; family-friendly but still open enough for everyone to enjoy their meal. I'd definitely go back.
Ordered three dishes for three adults, simply grilled salmon $33, West Coast steak sandwich $30, Chinese chicken salad $20. Grilled salmon was quite impressive, very delicious. Steak sandwich was good too. The Chinese chicken salad came with sliced chicken cutlet, I was surprised that chicken cutlet was at room temperature instead of temperature hot. It was crowded, we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. And it was noisy, needed to raise voices for conversation.
I wasn't very impressed with Doc B's. We came in for a group outing, and for the price point I expected both faster service and better execution. The food took a while to come out, and when it arrived it just did not have the flavor or energy I was hoping for. We did try the candied bacon, and while it was an interesting take, it ended up being pretty forgettable compared to similar versions at other restaurants. It felt like it needed a stronger glaze or a better balance of sweet and savory to really stand out. I ordered the Dragon Burger, which sounded great on the menu, but it was underwhelming. The seasoning was mild, the heat was almost nonexistent, and the toppings never really came together. It felt like a dish that could be spiced up and pushed a lot further, especially at this price point. The space itself is nice with that polished River North vibe, and the staff was friendly, but overall the experience didn't match the cost or the hype. Might give it another chance someday, but this visit was just okay.
I came here with husband for dinner and a great time! Alayna was our server and gave awesome suggestions. I had the chimichurri steak and my husband had the filet mignon. We finished it off with a slice of key lime pie and chocolate cake. For my first time in Chicago this was a great meal to start with. Thanks Alayna!
Went to lunch here. The GPS sent us through the mall. We were lost for a bit. We finally found it and I'm so glad we did. There were 3 of us and we all ordered a different salad. We ordered the knife and fork, tuna, and the Caesar. We also do a smash cheese burger. Everything was really good. The service was good. The place was nice and in a good area for lunch while shopping. I will be coming back for sure.
Stopped by for late dinner at downtown Chicago and found this casual restaurant located near Nordstrom. The food was pretty good, I didn't love it but it was ok. Just not something I would want regularly but occasionally it is fine. The service was prompt and friendly, restaurant was lively and full.
I was in Chicago for the ace hardware show. This is my first trip here. One of salesman suggested this place for our first dinner. I started with a lemon drop martini with vanilla vodka. It was delicious The truffle fries were very good. I ended up getting the chicken kabobs which were tasty. Our server Arianna was very attentive. She kept our drinks full. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch cheesecake was ok. The bathrooms were clean too.
Comparing to other spots downtown with the similar bar and burger menu I would say this spot would be a skip for me next time. We got the candied bacon as our appetizer. It looks good but after having 1 piece it's a bit overwhelmingly sweet with nothing to cut the sweetness. The burger was not good. The patties were slightly overcooked and dry. The sweet potato fries were very limp and were not crunchy at all. The service was fine. She only really took our orders and gave us our food. Payment we had to do ourselves at our table via QR code. The ambiance is okay. They were pretty busy on Saturday. The bathroom was low on toilet paper and the line was pretty long.
Service was nice, menu looks amazing. I only wanted a light bite, and this was amazing. Would definitely go back
Stopped by for a quick dinner on a recent Chicago trip. We were able to get seated immediately as a party of 3 on Saturday night, around 8pm. The vibe of this restaurant is definitely a bit more casual than some of the other restaurants in River North - there's a bar section, and a mix of table/booth seating. I think it would be a great spot to watch sporting events. I opted to try the wedge burger with sweet potato fries as a side (for the burger you can choose your own side, and there are various other options such as onion rings, salad, regular fries, etc). Burger was decent size, and cooked well temperature wise (medium). Sweet potato fries were crispy. However a common theme I noticed across the food was that everything seemed a bit underseasoned - burger patty, sweet potato fries, and even the bit of salmon which I tried from someone else's dish. Could have done with a bit more salt for my taste. Service was decent, our waiter was friendly but you could also tell they were pretty busy in here. Even so we were checked up on multiple times throughout the meal, which was great. I don't think the food was anything special but not a bad spot to drop in for a burger.
This is a good casual spot for dinner. They have a menu that can easily please everyone's tastes from appetizers to salads to pasta to rice bowls to burgers, and more. I ordered the CA salad with chicken and salmon and the Thai sesame vinaigrette. Everything was great except the chicken was really dry. The chicken parma was probably the best dish. The rice bowl was a bit soggy. The best thing about this is the check out system where we can all scan a QR and pay for our individual meals. I've never seen this before and it makes it a great hang out spot as a result. Happy Hour and drink menu available also. Casual. Please come and create your own adventure.
This was a perfect spot for a casual sit down meal with good food and service. My husband loved the turkey burger. I really enjoyed the chicken number six sandwich (basically fried chicken sandwich with pickles and sauce) with a loaded baked potato. Nice atmosphere and loved the convenience of paying at the table with a QR code when we were ready to go. Would recommend.
Fine Dining crossed with your Favorite Sports Bar. The exposed kitchen just demands excellence. Look at the rest of my reviews, no one gets above 9.5 rating, Doc B's takes the gold. Bold, flavorful, memorable. Urging you to try

Travel is hell when you have celiac. I am sensitive to the parts per million level and one bad bite of food can keep me up all night, or send me to bed or the hotel bathroom for days. I will spare the details. I am not a gluten free trendy who has a pastry for desert; this is an issue that's followed me my whole life. Usually when trveling, I end up eating carrots, rotisserie chicken and coldcuts when my supply of hard boiled eggs runs out. Every now and then I hit the jackpot. I arrived in Chicago on a Thrusday afternoon in September and first thing, set out around the neighborhood to find a restaurant where I might be able to eat. All the usual kinds of places (naerly all of them corporate) were out of the discussion when I spotted Doc Bs at 55 E. Grand Ave. The exterior was low-key but for some reason I was drawn to it. I went in to check the place out. Usually this part of the discussion goes like a legal deposition. "What do you know, and how do you know it?" I asked for a menu; I was handed one and began to read carefully. Among other things, they offered a kind of rice bowl dish, a bit like hot poke (the Wok Out Bowl). It came with a diversity of sauces -- Curry, Sesame Teriyaki , Sweet & Spicy Thai, etc. I said, "Which of these sauces has no gluten?" "All of them," said someone named Cassandra, responding in a confident voice. She was the general manager. "Our company takes food sensitivity very seriously. We also have gluten free deep fryers." I pushed a little harder: Cassanda said she could account for every ingredient in every dish on the menu. Right away I was having a 1 in 1000 expeience. Even in the top tier of places aware of the gluten issue (which is no longer vogue), I am often saved by a server who has a clue what goes into the food. Cross-contamination is an issue; as is ignorance about product. Gluten-safe dining is usually based on a stripped down menu; and some places commit outright fraud by neglecting to mention known issues in the kitchen but still saying GF on the menu. My theory of keeping gluten out of restaurant food is **start with none, and add it only where you need it**, which is nearly in nothing. She said that's exactly what we do. My second theory of gluten free is **parity of experience**. That means that everyone at the table has an equivalent experience. The whole table does not enjoy sumptuous deserts while the GF person gets canned pears. At Doc B's I could eat anything on the menu, including French fries and chips and salsa (small, taken-for-granted pleasures by most diners). My third theory of gluten free dining is **no gluen free upcharge.** It's tacky, and adds insult to injury (especially when a GF bun or bread is subpar, as was NOT the case at Doc B's). Doc B's got 100% on all counts. That and the food was consistently excellent. I ate there seven times over five days trying many things (but having a lot of Wok Out bowls). I sent several people and brought four different friends, one of whom had such such extreme dietary restrictions he could usually order an apple. They accommodated him perfectly, with a positive attitude. And there you have it. This gets the highest possible rating from the Gluten Avenver -- seven stars. -- Eric F Coppolino read more
Great experience all around! We arrived for lunch on a Saturday around 12:15p and didn't think to make reservations in advance. It was packed! Luckily the window high top bar-seats were available. Not great for catching up in conversation over a meal, but it was better than the a fast food place nearby. The food was great! We had the guacamole as an appetizer - if you don't like cilantro - you will want to avoid it. It was an interesting appetizer, as it came with sweet potato chips. Both were good...not sure it pairs well. (I saved the guacamole for my burger) I had the wedge burger, primarily for the egg. It was great! The burger was perfectly cooked as was the sunny side up egg. I ordered it with a side of fries. Perfectly cooked fries. They give huge portions. I was able to share with my friends. I ordered a cranberry and tonic for a beverage. It was great, however, they served it in a "bar" glass, so it was not a lot of liquid. I had to order two. I prefer pint glasses for non-alcohol beverages. Tasted great, just needed more. Prices are reasonable for a city restaurant. Without tip for 4 adults, 4 entrees and 1 appetizer and soda-water beverages. It came to about $130. Parking...If you can walk or take a ride share. It's the city and parking options aren't great. read more
Popped in here for lunch once we arrived in town. I've never tried any Doc B's so was excited to try it. The staff was friendly, the server did a good job of managing the bar and the tables surrounding the bar. They were busy. The food was good. They make their own dressings but they don't make ranch. I had a salad and it was pretty good. read more

First of all, if I'm ever in Chicago, Doc B's will be seeing me! Food, drinks ambiance and service were all A+. Came here for happy hour on my girlfriend's birthday and we were not disappointed. The Candied bacon... they should call it bacon candy because that's what it tasted like and I'm not mad at it. Most original candied bacon I can say that I've had. The Oven Roasted Teriyaki Chicken Wings were delicious as well and came with a very healthy portion. That's how wings should be served in my opinion . The drinks were also delicious and came out fairly quickly. As my lady was looking down at her phone, I mouthed "it's her birthday" to the waiter and he understood the assignment and brought us a HUGE slice of cake (for free.99). Amazing service (closed some of the door in to make sure we wouldn't get cold) Ambiance is great for a date or group link up! read more
i got the number six sandwich with sweet potato fries and my husband got a burger. we also got a side of sautéed broccoli for our baby. he has several allergies and they were able to kindly account for those. i didn't love the sandwich - the chicken was a little sour. the fries were okay though with the honey mustard sauce - just wish there were more. overall service was good but not sure if we'll be back because everything was pretty pricy and the portions were small but glad we tried. read more

We had a great experience, largely thanks to Marco's kindness and attentiveness throughout our visit. He was welcoming, helpful, and made sure everything was taken care of seamlessly. The chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked, flavorful, and satisfying. Service was quick, and the overall vibe was relaxed and enjoyable, especially since it wasn't crowded. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back!!!! read more
This was one of the best places we ate at while visiting. The ambiance was relaxed but still very nice. Our server was great I didn't catch her name but everyone that helped us was so kind and knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly suggest the chimichurri wings! Omg I still think about these. I had never tried this flavor but I would order them again and again. The drinks were good and strong and they give you warm towels for your hands which was such a cute touch! read more

This was the first place that we visited during the weekend of Juneteenth and we were offered to pay for our items separately. More businesses should offer this option especially when you're with a large group. The food was DELICIOUS and Tonya was a gem. I highly recommend this establishment. The hot towels were a bonus! read more

This was amazing hidden Gem right off State street during a afternoon stroll. I ordered the Mediterranean Shrimp salad with blacken shrimp and when I say everything was fresh and amazing seemed to be picked right out of the garden. 10/10 would return the service was amazing and Brenden was an excellent server. Stopped in for the first time on a Monday evening in January to grab a quick drink and a small bite. Not crowded at all. We sat at the bar. Ambiance is cool and the service was attentive. We ordered the "Oven Roasted Chicken Wings (pic attached). The wings are 700 degree baked, with chimichurri and regianno for $19. It was really tasty. A bit pricey for what you get but I enjoyed. So glad we stopped by Doc B's for dinner! Exceptional service (we had a large party of 8 and had 3 strollers). All of our meals came out at the same time and everything was hot. The Cajun chicken club sandwich was great and the fries were to die for! The garlic aioli was absolutely delicious. They have a happy hour and have such a variety of meal options, so there is something for everyone. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back! read more

Any parking suggestions?
Use ParkWhiz or a similar app to find cheap parking nearby. I usually am able to find something around $10 bucks within 5 min walking distance. Saves a lot of aggravation searching for metered parking
