Y'all... oh my gosh I finally tried Doc B's Restaurant + Bar in the Gold Coast and BABYYYY... the food was AMAZING--and honestly, pretty affordable too I'm lowkey mad I didn't get pictures, but listen... it was so good I couldn't even pause to take one I ordered the Cajun chicken club sandwich with sweet potato fries, and let me tell you... those fries? 10/10. No notes. The sandwich had candied bacon on it with this perfect sweet flavor, and it normally comes with honey Dijon--but I don't do Dijon, so I swapped it for this garlic sauce ‍ And when I say that garlic tanginess mixed with the sweet candied bacon... whew. Chef's kiss. Absolute perfection. My boyfriend got the steak wok bowl with corn, broccoli, brown rice, and some other veggies--and I definitely stole a few bites It was SO good. Like... flavorful, fresh, just everything. The whole vibe? Perfect for a lunch date. The ambiance was cute, relaxed, and just right And I loved that they serve room temperature water (because ice? not my thing ‍) But let's talk about the real star--our waiter Eli He was AMAZING. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. We were in Chicago for a conference and we asked a local for a good restaurant recommendation for dinner. Our friend said one of her favorite places to suggest to visitors was Doc B's Restaurant. So, we gave it a try. The menu includes a wide variety of salads, wings, wraps, sandwiches and, my favorite, burgers. I was with a group of 4 and we all ordered burgers - and none of us opted for the same burger. So, our little group got to try 4 different burgers. And all four were delicious. Three of us ordered with a side of fries - also delicious. Great place for dinner in the Windy City. read more

If it's located right off magnificent mile, it has to be magnificent right ? Yes. This place is quite magnificent. I'm a huge turkey burger fan and regularly seek them out on the road. It is wonderful. We also had a Cesar salad which is standard but really good. It says make reservations but we just walked in. Good place to watch a game right after a shopping spree. Awesome! The food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic! The 3 of us ordered Filet & fries, Chicken kabobs, plus a ginger salad w/ grilled chicken and drinks. My colleague kept mentioning how the steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were the best he's had. Seasoned perfectly. I loved my ginger salad with chicken. We were all very happy! We had an excellent casual dinner at Doc B's. We had been in town all week staying at the Sofitel and just wanted a good meal and good service without the bloated price tag and within walking distance. We chose well. Our server (Chris) was excellent; knowledgeable and willing to offer suggestions. Thankfully we listened to our server; the Tangled Noodle Bowl was outstanding. We would have preferred without the radish (not mentioned on the menu) but otherwise, just tremendous. My chicken wok out bowl was perfect. Pair these with the Slo Down Red Blend (slightly overpriced @$72) which was great and you have a fine meal. No room for dessert but they sounded delicious. Next time. Doc Bs was pretty good! Very easy to get a reservation which makes it convenient for last minute dinner plans. The inside is a mix between a nice restaurant and a sports bar so you can either dress up or down when coming here. I liked my salad but thought it was overpriced for the mediocre quality. Our server was polite albeit not very friendly until I really started chatting him up and asking about the menu. (Service is a grind, I get it.) I had the beet cocktail and my partner had the bramble. Both were delicious. For lunch, we shared the artichoke and he had the chicken Caesar wrap and I had the Cajun chicken club on pretzel bun which was amazing! Walked past a table that had ordered the chimichurri wings and knew we HAD to get them. They were the best wings we've had ever!! Insane seasoning and crunch!! We walked to Doc B's from our hotel and while we did not have reservations, we were able to get a table outside. Our server was extremely helpful and made sure we always had whatever we needed. For an app, we had the Housemade Guac with sweet potato chips and it had great flavor. Our entrees were the Chimichurri Steak, Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Cucumber & Feta Salad, and the Marinated Steak Wok Out Bowl with Sweet & Spicy Thai Sauce on the side. It's hard to say whose was the best, but we all tried each other's entrees. The fried chicken was juicy and satisfying, the chimichurri steak was extremely tender and addictive, and the wok out bowl had flavor in every bite and the steak was supremely succulent. Great food and attentive service. The street side seating at night on a weekday was calm and peaceful, perfect for a date night. I ordered the petite filet with the jalapeño potatoes. The jalapeño potato's came in an interesting presentation piled up with the sauce on top but it was delicious. They're smashed crispy potatoes with a creamy jalapeño sauce, not spicy just flavorful. The filet was the perfect size for me and the garnish of the tomatoes is a nice touch. I'm not sure what sauce was on the tomatoes but it was great. I paired my meal with a Riesling, my favorite. It was sweet and crisp. I loved the experience and will eagerly visit again. read more

We decided to have dinner here during our last night in Downtown Chicago. Ordered red wine (Pinot Noir/Oregon) and my husband had a nice, cold beer. Doing some Yelp searching and found this little diamond in a rough. The atmosphere is great and very welcoming. Started with the matzo ball soup, which was amazing - from one Jew to another. Not salty, great consistency and the matzo balls had the perfect consistency. The meal was the marinated kebabs which were also outstanding. Still trying to figure out the marinade so I can recreate it, but it's too complex. The Greek salad side was a perfect compliment, along with the cilantro rice underneath. Total transparency, not a big cilantro fan, but it had the perfect "spice" to it, but didn't overwhelm the flavor of everything else. Ran in for a quick lunch when we arrived to Chicago. The food was so good we desperately tried to find time to come back. It has a typical all-American city restaurant vibe. The service was stellar!! Our waitress made several recommendations and definitely pointed us in the right direction! We had the wings with Chimichurri sauce and the Chicken Littles and fries (which came with several dipping sauces- sweet BBQ/chili sauce, honey mustard). We also asked for a side of garlic aioli. We were very overwhelmed here. Didn't walk in with any expectations, but came out wanting to go back! My son and I both had their Wok Out bowl which allows you to choose your protein, rice and sauce. We only differed in getting salmon and beef. Both had brown rice and sesame teriyaki...a delicious and healthy mix. My son had a sweet tooth craving for the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cheesecake, which he loved. The remainder of the menu had a great deal of interesting choices that I'd love to try. We had chicken littles and fries and the chimichurri wings (on the waitstaff's recommendation) with a side of fries and garlic aioli. Both were excellent. We had a great experience here while on summer vacation. Upon arrival it was extremely busy. I let them know that we had a reservation, but they couldn't find it. Turns out that I completely messed up and made a reservation at the wrong location. The hostess, Jada, took care of us anyway despite the restaurant being sold out. We only had to wait 15, minutes, and Jada came through with a table. Once seated, our server, Gabe, did a great job. The artichoke, burger and salad that I had was wonderful. 1/2 off bottle of wine Wednesday...awesome! It was about time we gave Doc B's a try since our friends in Ft. Lauderdale visit that one all the time. We were looking for an easy, early Sunday dinner a short walk from our hotel and were very happy to find this place nearby. The restaurant was just picking up and we were fortunate to grab a sit at a high top in the bar ovelooking the outside patio. The bartender attentive and efficient as she waited on us while also preparing drinks for the dining room servers. We each had the chicken sandwich that had nice flavor, though the breast was smaller than expected. The chocolate cake was AWESOME! A relaxing and friendly atmosphere is the first thing we noted at Doc B's on Walton in the Gold Coast area. We sat at the bar as we wanted to watch the NBA playoff game that was on TV. They changed channels for us, which we were very grateful for. We started with a wonderful dish of guacamole with sweet potato chips. The tasty guac was a little different than usual as it had corn in it, but still very good. My wife opted for the Knife and Fork Cobb salad with a nice piece of crispy chicken next to it. The salad itself was very good and the chicken was excellent. My Buffalo Chicken sandwich was good. Accompanying the sandwich was an excellent homemade coleslaw, one of the best I have ever had. The service was good, our food came out quickly. While the bar service was good, as a former bar manager at a large establishment, we always asked if somebody was finished with their drink if there was anything at all left in it before we would take it. My Bloody Mary and a glass of wine both had small amounts still in the glass when they were snatched from us. We do look forward to coming back and trying some other menu items. read more

Came as a party of 6 for a work dinner. Really nice spot for a fun place with colleagues. It's lively but not overly loud. It feels fun, and it is a fun spot. I enjoyed the cherry old fashioned drinks, and everyone else enjoyed their beverages as well. We ordered their chips and guac, and I'd never had guacamole with sweet potato chips before. It was a unique pairing that was pretty satsifying. The jalapeno crispy potatoes were amazing. Definitely give those a try. But the must-have appetizer is the candied bacon. If you see it on a menu, definitely get it. Our server was friendly and had perfect timing. Our waters never ran out, we ordered our next round just in time, the food was spaced out perfectly. Well done! Everyone just happened to order burgers, and this is where I'm knocking them down from 5 to 4 stars. I realize serving 6 burgers at different temperatures is probably quite a challenge, but I ordered my burger medium and received well-done. It was still moist and flavorful, but it's a pet peeve of mine when they ask how you want your burger cooked, and it comes out as something else. It was still really nice--just don't' ask me how I want it if you can't deliver that! Public transit is nearby, and there is a parking lot immediately east of the restaurant.
