Absolutely incredible from start to finish! Every dish was outstanding. The burger was perfectly cooked--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The handmade gnocchi was phenomenal, with a delicious smoky flavor that made it unforgettable. The croquettes were unbelievably mouthwatering and absolutely delicious, and the burrata was simply to die for. On top of the amazing food, the restaurant had great music, a wonderful atmosphere, and a staff that was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. My partner booked a table so we could unwind and enjoy a nice dinner before heading to a Broadway show. We arrived early and spotted an open bar table, so we grabbed it. Perfect timing because it gave us a great view of a FIFA match while we informed the hotess and settle in. We ordered the hamachi collars, the Midwest salad, and the Amish curry chicken. We forgot to snap a picture of the hamachi collars, but they were a huge, delicious portion. The sauce leaned a bit sweet, but thankfully it wasn't poured directly over the fish. Last night my wife and I stepped into The Dearborn and had an amazing dinning experience. It was an atmosphere of comfort and charm. The service was outstanding. Our dinner guide, Nicholas, was superb. Very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested two perfect spirits from the bar. My wife had the Irish old fashion which was excellent. I had a vodka Gimlet, which also was superb. Palate pleasing! The meal was absolutely enjoyable. I enjoyed the Curry Chicken. The thigh meat was tender and succulent. The curry was sweet and creamy. It came with pita bread which added to the dinning experience. Just wonderfully enjoyable. My wife enjoyed the Fish and Chips which beat Bobby Flay. True words from the menu. Wife said if was the best fish and chips she has ever had. Then came the dessert. Now I asked Nicolas and he suggested Pavlova and Blood Orange. Which lead me to survey Margaret and she suggested Sticky toffee date cake. After a friendly jostling back and forth of desert knowledge Greg the Maitre-d made also suggested the Sticky toffee. They were already ordering drinks so I chimed in very last minute and ordered an amaretto sour which was absolutely delicious. I wanted a second, but it was a Sunday evening. Yes-it was that good! We started with the rolls, which were really fluffy and warm, came in a set of four with a special seasoned butter. We also got the artichoke cheese appetizer, which I thought was a dip, but it actually came out on a very flat plate as seasoned artichoke with cheese, it was actually pretty delicious. For entrées, we ordered the scallops, the Cesar Salad, the Dearborn burger, and the Parmesan gnocchi. My (3) scallops were absolutely amazing, they were crispy and heated to perfection in the middle, they were not rubbery or fishy. I did think they gave a little too much beurre blanc is it almost overpowered the dish. We decided we did not need to get dessert as the dinner was already filling as it is. I would definitely come back and order the scallops again, but only for a special occasion as they were relatively expensive clocking in at $45. read more

I went to lunch here solo & was very underwhelmed by the food & experience. I got the Peruvian-Style Ceviche & the Fish & Chips. The ceviche was bland to me & didn't taste that great to be honest. The fish & chips which comes with fries actually surprised me at the giant size of the serving and the fries were hot, fresh, and delicious. The fish itself although hot and fresh had no flavor at all. Very filling, but tasteless. Overhyped & I could not recommend. I also originally ordered a root beer which the waitress confirmed upon repeating my order back to me, but I never recieved. It seemed as though service since I was dining solo was also very slow as well as I watched my waitress go to other tables and not mine when I kept looking to ask where was my drink. Being a California boy (born and raised) my only way to get a Fish & Chip meal was at a fast food franchise called H. Salts Fish & Chips; and it was fairly good. Several golf trips to the U.K. (Britain, Scotland, Wales) I got my fair share of excellent Fish & Chips; the best being in Ullapool, Scotland at The Seafood Shack I have never had better! But, leave it to Chicago to deliver some of the best fish and chips I've ever had in the USA, here at The Dearborn restaurant in the Chicago loop. Everything about The Dearborn's signature dish just worked in every way: The fish was fried perfectly The fish itself was moist and delicious The chips (fries) were excellent The coleslaw was the perfect side dish The tartar sauce was scrumptious My Krobacher Pilsner paired perfectly with my dinner The service was spot on And sitting at the bar watching the NBA playoffs didn't hurt either. I did have a scoop of delicious salted caramel gelato that finished this meal perfectly. Stopped by The Dearborn for a meal before a show at the Chicago Theatre and sat in the bar area since there was no wait -- always a win. The ambiance is lovely and modern, making it a great pre-theater spot. Drinks were solid. I ordered the lychee martini, which oddly didn't come with a lychee at first, but once I asked, they quickly brought me two. Not a big deal, but fresh lychee should really already come with a lychee drink. The fish and chips were hands down the best I've had. They claim to be the best, award winning, and it clearly isn't just smoke. It's a bit pricey for a single filet, but it was a good size and cooked perfectly. I'd happily pay a little more if they offered two filets because the fish itself was that good. The fish comes with fries and coleslaw, which were typical, nothing to write home about. Service was fair -- nothing bad, nothing standout. One small downside: the bathroom situation. It's tucked away down some stairs, which felt like a strange layout choice. I try to eat here right before I take off or as soon as I land, quality of food AND quality of service is so reliable, I love eating here to get into the groove of the windy city. The mac n cheese is to die for, but I think they took it off their menu permanently because I couldnt find it on the menu when I was in town earlier this month :/ I always sit at the bar and have a good time finding a single seat, they have hooks for purses and jackets, comfortable plush barstools and lots of outlets to charge your phone. The fries had good flavor but could have been a little crispier. We also tried the prosciutto tavern-style pizza, which was the biggest letdown. It really needed more crispiness. The coat racks next to the tables were super convenient for storing our bulky winter gear and diaper bag. The service was outstanding; our server was friendly and always on top of things. They didn't have a physical kids' menu, but offered plenty of kid-friendly choices like grilled cheese, buttered noodles, cheeseburger, chicken fingers, and pizza, which all come with fries. My husband and I split the corned beef and the PB&J French toast, while the boys shared a grilled cheese and shrimp with grits. We also upgraded their fries to truffle fries. The Dearborn is a very nice restaurant for a nice meal downtown. The food was tasty, particularly the fried perch Benedict, which is a nice variation of the classic dish. I enjoyed their tea presentation with little clear pots for you to steep your tea to your liking. The ambiance is very relaxing, though nice with the TVs to stream football games on a Sunday afternoon. There was a live band when we went that sounded great. The staff was alright - greeted nicely at the front. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because nothing particularly "wowed" me for a nicer restaurant in downtown. Regardless of the time of day and especially during peak hours, I would definitely recommend making a reservation to air on the safe side. The staff prepared our table super quickly and was very attentive- they really went above and beyond throughout the meal. I do not recommend skipping the drinks! I ordered the seasonal Si Se Puede, Tia mezcal cocktail, which was quite spicy and perfectly sweet. For appetizers, we shared the parkerhouse rolls. The rolls were soft and buttery with a delicious whipped butter spread. For the main dish, I ordered the Dearborn Burger. It was solid overall and the portion size was very generous. I tried the fish and chips as well which were excellent. Would definitely order this next time! For dessert, we tried the sticky toffee date cake. I liked that it was not too heavy, and the Heath bar crumbles added a nice crunch. My only wishlist would be to have more of that delicious sauce to scoop up! What a stunning spot to rest our exhausted feet after a day of sightseeing. The whole decor and vibe was so relaxing, chic, modern and just felt upscale but not so much you feel you have to sit 90 degrees straight in your seat or risk looking like a slob in a fancy restaurant.
