Great vibe, was fairly quiet which was nice and overall the staff was friendly. The Parker rolls are a must, 12/10! As well as the fish and chips, I see why this beat Bobby flay, the fish breading was light but still crispy and the chips were amazing. Could live without the gnocchi, the texture was tough and shaped not like traditional gnocchi, sauce was light but lacked salt. Would highly recommend and we will be back!
Met a friend for a drink and dinner. Great vibe! Place was hopping. She arrived earlier and got the last table next to the bar. Our waiter, Patrick, provided perfect service with a smile. The menu bragged that the fish and chips beat Bobby Flay. When I went to the restroom, I saw nearly every table had at least one order. And it really looked good. I had to order it. It did NOT disappoint! It was delicious. I highly recommend. Flaky hot freshly fried fish. Perfection! It is the fish and chips all future fish and chips will be judged. We started wi the a side salad to ease any guilt. It was good and everything in it was fresh. She had the gnocchi and like it. We split some ice cream. Would Definately return!

My friends and I all ordered different things-- I personally got the fish and chips. As basic as that was, I really enjoyed it. The batter was crispy, light, and flavorful. The cod was also pretty fresh, soft, and piping hot. The chips were great. I really enjoyed the fish and chips and highly recommend it to anyone that likes fish! 10/10 would come again.
I've decided that this will officially be a staple lunch spot for me! I was on a break from class when I stumbled across this little gem. Think of the quintessential restaurant scene in a movie where a business executive grabs a quick power lunch, surrounded by other professionals, before heading back to the office for that BIG meeting. It was exactly that! Meanwhile, I walked in wearing my school clothes, just looking for a good lunch. The atmosphere was great, the Wi-Fi was a plus, the food was delicious, and the cocktail menu was intriguing! I ordered the Dearborn Burger based on my waiter's recommendation, and it did not disappoint! It was cooked exactly to my liking and was SO juicy. The fries were perfectly crisp, just how I like them. And the MAN-LET'S-GO! cocktail? Exactly what I needed! It satisfied my mango craving and gave me that little boost I needed to get through the rest of my day. Between the atmosphere, the food, and the service, I can already tell this is going to become one of my regular spots. I will definitely be back frequently!
Was happy to meet a friend for dinner on 7/9/26. Once again, we had a great server named Jose who was very engaging. I had to get the fish again and we got the Parker House Rolls. Also got the Hot Honey and Pepperoni Pizza -everything was DIVINE!! The fries were addictive good! The manager came around again dressed dapper to ask us how everything was. Of course we told him AMAZING! This place exceeds my expectations once again. Can't wait for my third visit!
A quality - quality establishment through and through. Vibe is very much, tavern meets upscale modern American dining experience. Service was great. Attentive, explained the menu well. Lunch - we all got burgers and we all thought they were absolutely fantastic. It wouldn't be fair to compare to another well known for their burger establishment in town wink wink; but the Dearborn burger was very very respectable and...came with fries which were perfectly fried and salted. My son loved them. The burger, cooked incredibly well for a medium. Still juicy. The bread, pickles, sunny side up egg and bacon all lent itself to a well balanced burger. Does it reach the heights of some other spots? Not as much - BUT This would be the best burger in most large American cities. Would highly recommend for a good lunch. The basque cheesecake was also solid!

Of course we came here specifically for the fish and chips, but we also split a huge order of Parker house rolls, which were amazing. Those rolls are perfect. The disappointment was the fish itself. While the crunch and flavor were perfect, the texture of the fish itself was watery and mushy. It didn't hold up at all against the crunchy coating. I would not order it again, but I would go back to try something else. I'm hoping I just had an anomaly. The tartar sauce and fries were good. Clean place in a good location, too.

The most delicious soup I've ever had; I will literally be back to Chicago simply for their Spicy Chicken & Mushroom Soup. I can see why these fish and chips beat Bobby Flay! And the pizza was great. I'll be thinking about my experience at The Dearborn for a long time! This past Sunday morning, I had wanted to grab a quick coffee before seeing some sights. As it happened, the cafe I wanted to check out was mobbed with a line down the street, and my boyfriend expressed wanting a full meal. A quick look at the map confirmed we were close to The Dearborn, and they were opening in about 10 minutes. Perfect. We detoured to view the Chicago Picasso and waited until open to walk in. Upon arrival, there were already several parties waiting to be seated, which is a clear indicator of the restaurant's popularity. We were seated not long after along the row of seated half booths in the room behind the bar. Our server, Melissa, was soooo friendly and lovely. She gave us some suggestions on other spots to visit too. We were both planning on starting with the horchata carajillo cocktail, but Melissa sold me with their brunch punch of the day - pineapple gin, yuzu, raspberry syrup, lemon, and soda water. Both cocktails were incredible, and my boyfriend and I were both buzzing before 11 am haha. *We did also order coffees - their cappuccino was delightful. In terms of food, we decided to start with the croissant monkey bread. As you can see, I took a bite before we even put the sauce on top - it was that irresistible. For potentially the first time ever, my boyfriend and I equally shared a dish. Typically, he eats faster and more than me, but I made sure to keep up - it was way too good to miss out. For my meal, I ordered the four cheese tavern-style pizza (fontina, gruyere, gouda, mozzarella, chives, garlic butter), and my boyfriend selected the fried perch benedict. I tried a bite of his, and it was lovely, but I was more focused on my pizza. To be clear, the pizza is 14 inches and easily could have been shared by both of us. In fact, he did indeed eat all of the leftovers later that night. This was hands down our favorite dining experience during our long weekend in Chicago, and I need to revisit on a future trip to try their famous fish & chips.
OMG! Walk, run, sprint here to get the FISH N CHIPS THAT ACTUALLY BEAT BOBBY FLAY. The executive chef and now chef partner, Aaron Cuschieri, is absolutely amazingly talented. I am used to really good fish and chips... I've never had better fish and chips than Tom Douglas's Mr. Fish in Seattle, UNTIL NOW!!!! Wow, wow wow wow! Do not pass GO, do not read the menu, just order the darn fish and chips! It might be a whole heart attack on a plate... But it doesn't matter... You can walk all of Chicago and burn it off. I decided to work out before I came here for this big splurge and I'm so glad I did. I can see that this is the theater district... And you could come here before a show fish and chips and have the best night of your entire life! I can't wait to try more of this chef's food! I'm BEYOND INSPIRED! ps great beers here toooooi!
My coworker and I went for lunch. It's a very upscale looking restaurant but some people were causally dressed and others professionally dressed. The hostess advised without reservations we could sit near the bar. So we did. The service was great. The food was great. I will return for sure!
Came here on a Tuesday night and the ambiance was wonderful. They had the patio open but we chose to sat inside. I was there catching up with my aunt so it was so nice the server was attentive but we didn't feel rushed to leave. We started off with the ham & cheese croquettes, they were delicious. Then we had the spring caesar. That was such a flavorful salad and I loved how they had white anchovies on top. We then had the pepperoni & hot honey pizza. It was tavern style and had the perfect amount of honey, it wasn't too sweet and it didn't make the pizza soggy. I had a great experience at The Dearborn and will definitely be back!

The Dearborn was the perfect first meal on my first day in Chicago. I love that they're open for lunch, since a lot of spots in the Loop only get going at dinner. We grabbed seats at the bar, and the cocktail list is a highlight, with a nice mix of classic and seasonal drinks. The 4 cheese tavern pizza was fantastic: super thin crust, cut into squares, and perfectly crisp. The ham and cheese croquettes were also very tasty and a great starter to share. My friend ordered the fish and chips, one of their signature dishes, which famously beat Bobby Flay on his show (a rare feat!). Based on how quickly it disappeared, it lives up to the hype. The only downside is that the bar seats are pretty uncomfortable, so you may want a table if you plan to linger. Still, the food and drinks more than make up for it. Highly recommend! read more

We came here on a Wednesday night and it was super busy...so yes. Make reservations! We started with the Crispy Brussel Sprouts which were wonderfully cooked with a touch of parmesan and pepitas. And then because they "beat Bobby Flay", we tried the fish and chips. I was expecting something more wow, but still was very good. I appreciated that the fish, which was tempura batter, wasn't super greasy which it often can be. The serving size was huge as well...depending on your appetite may want to consider splitting. They gave us a delicious chocolate chip cookie as a birthday treat which was fun...it was warm and gooey... super tasty. read more

As a long-time Chicago diner who was through the doors when The Dearborn first opened, I've watched its menu evolve over the years. Very few people are as deeply familiar with the Chicago dining scene as I am fortunate to be--a gift and a curse that makes me hold local institutions to a high standard. Unfortunately, The Dearborn's execution hasn't kept pace. The underlying issue is consistent visit after visit: the kitchen continuously delivers dishes that are underseasoned and devoid of depth. I appreciate high-quality ingredients and subtle flavor profiles, but the plates here routinely leave me wanting. During a recent visit, we ordered two staples: the celebrated Fish & Chips and the Shrimp & Grits. Though advertised by our server as authentic New Orleans style, both the shrimp and the grits were remarkably bland. The flavors were so muted that we ended up asking for extra seasoning or hot sauce just to give the dish some life. The ingredients were undeniably fresh, the cooking was technically sound, and the service was fine. However, as a high-traffic spot catering heavily to tourists, the kitchen seems focused on playing it safe for mass appeal. It works for a broad audience, but for anyone who truly knows Chicago food, it falls short, and I can't say I look forward to returning. 2.51 stars all things considered. read more
Stopped in for lunch midweek and the place was jumping! The hostess let us know it would be a bit of a wait since we requested a booth. The wait was shorter than expected and we were fortunate to get Carson as our server. Carson was personable, informative and professional. The food was excellent and the prices were commensurate with the excellent quality. All of the staff worked well together. A highlight was when we passed on dessert but, Carson knowing we were celebrating a birthday surprised us with a cookie and candle and card from the restaurant. Whike this may seem like a small gesture, it was greatly appreciated and certainly a reason we will highly suggest to friends, family and colleagues to go to the Dearborn and ask for Carson! read more

WOW! We had such a great dinner at The Dearborn. The restaurant is lively, cheery with a fun atmosphere. Our server Melissa was great and checked on us regularly. We ordered a variety of dishes to share among 5 people. Do not miss the Parker House rolls! Holy warm baked buttery deliciousness. We also loved the Japanese curry poutine (which was a surprise!), the market salad and the gnocchi. We also tried several cocktails, including the Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches and the Spanish G&T. read more
The next brunch spot you have to try in Chicago is The Dearborn! The aesthetic here is upscale Irish tavern, with amazing vibes and service! I came here for brunch & most definitely need to come back for dinner! Their fish & chips beat Bobby Flay, & it's no surprise they did! This dish is perfection! The cod is fresh & flaky, and the batter has just the right crisp. The dish itself is huge & all the accompaniments are exactly what you want. The beignets are so fluffy and great for sharing a sweet treat to start or end your meal. The corned beef hash is packed with traditional Irish flavors and tastes delicious! Absolutely incredible from start to finish! Every dish was outstanding. The burger was perfectly cooked--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The handmade gnocchi was phenomenal, with a delicious smoky flavor that made it unforgettable. The croquettes were unbelievably mouthwatering and absolutely delicious, and the burrata was simply to die for. On top of the amazing food, the restaurant had great music, a wonderful atmosphere, and a staff that was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. A memorable meal! We had long conversations with two two different staff members about cocktail ingredients and tasted three different spirits. The room is large and comfortable. It is also across the street from The Goodman Theater. After the server greated us and asked us if we had show tickets to know what time we had to leave. The cocktails were creative. Service was great! I sat outside which was a risk with it being 4 pm and lots of cars and walkers but overall was pleasant. Fish & Chips were very good but I wouldn't say the best I've ever had. Given the claim I had really high expectations, but again very very good. The batter was light, crisp and not soggy. The flavor and lightness of the slaw was my favorite part; not soggy from sitting in dressing. Curry sauce was tasty but I mainly used it to dip my fries in. The cocktail was smoky (in a good way) but I did want it to be more tequila forward (personal preference). read more

It wouldn't be a visit to Chicago without a visit to the Dearborn! Truly my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Service always on point and friendly. The best fish in chips you will likely ever have. The Creole Shrimp and Grits were otherworldly. Shrimp cooked perfectly, not a millisecond over or under cooked. The sauce...the grits... amazing. Until my next visit...rock on Dearborn. This was our first lunch during our epic trip to Chicago. They set the bar very high! Annsling was our server and she was great! She made excellent recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The chef beat Bobby Flay with their Fish and Chips! I couldn't try it due to my allergy. But my momma did and loved it! Their burger was voted Best in Chicago! I totally agree! It was the perfect mix of meat, Gouda, and toppings! The Moscato was perfectly sweet and tasty! I will definitely visit again ! read more
(Kari's Rating 8.75/10) Came with three friends on a Sunday evening around 7:30 PM. My party was already seated so I was able to walk in and just meet them. They were already ordering drinks so I chimed in very last minute and ordered an amaretto sour which was absolutely delicious. I wanted a second, but it was a Sunday evening. Yes-it was that good! We started with the rolls, which were really fluffy and warm, came in a set of four with a special seasoned butter. We also got the artichoke cheese appetizer, which I thought was a dip, but it actually came out on a very flat plate as seasoned artichoke with cheese, it was actually pretty delicious. For entrées, we ordered the scallops, the Cesar Salad, the Dearborn burger, and the Parmesan gnocchi. My (3) scallops were absolutely amazing, they were crispy and heated to perfection in the middle, they were not rubbery or fishy. I did think they gave a little too much beurre blanc is it almost overpowered the dish. We decided we did not need to get dessert as the dinner was already filling as it is. I would definitely come back and order the scallops again, but only for a special occasion as they were relatively expensive clocking in at $45. read more
Stopped by The Dearborn for a meal before a show at the Chicago Theatre and sat in the bar area since there was no wait -- always a win. The ambiance is lovely and modern, making it a great pre-theater spot. Drinks were solid. I ordered the lychee martini, which oddly didn't come with a lychee at first, but once I asked, they quickly brought me two. Not a big deal, but fresh lychee should really already come with a lychee drink. The fish and chips were hands down the best I've had. They claim to be the best, award winning, and it clearly isn't just smoke. It's a bit pricey for a single filet, but it was a good size and cooked perfectly. I'd happily pay a little more if they offered two filets because the fish itself was that good. The fish comes with fries and coleslaw, which were typical, nothing to write home about. Service was fair -- nothing bad, nothing standout. One small downside: the bathroom situation. It's tucked away down some stairs, which felt like a strange layout choice. Overall, a solid choice for drinks and a great meal before a show. I'd definitely come back, especially for those fish and chips. Wish I had a genie to pop me in there for lunch today! read more

Therefore we continue to have a pleasant dine-in experience and The Dearborn remains one of our rotating choices. Taking in dinner bf going to musical. Loved the vibe of the restaurant. It was very busy but they had plenty of employees taking care of customers. Be careful here. Fries are cooked in the same oil as the chicken and the brussel sprouts are cooked on the same grill as the meat. Unless you want a salad my answer would be "none".
