Due to deciding to have a spontaneous Chicago trip, my partner came across Headquarters Beercade after having dinner. He called beforehand to ask how much is the entry fee and how much is it to play - however, to our surprise, there was NO entry fee and it was FREE to play all the arcade games. This was a shock to us as coming from California, there is nothing quite like this. It was super fun, definitely a great place to hangout at!

SUCH a fun experience!! I cannot believe there is NO cover charge to play the many retro games and skee ball machines. You can order food and drinks at the bar, grab a table (or reserve it in advance, all of them were reserved by the time we got there on a Friday night at 7pm), and just have fun! They play old sci fi movies on the screens, and there's a literal fake car hanging from the ceiling. It did get super crowded around 8pm, but the vibes were immaculate! The truffle fries were so flavorful with a nice crispy texture. They accidentally gave us an extra portion, which was so kind of them! The chicken quesadillas were really stuffed and came with a yummy garlic aioli! Overall, a really fun and eclectic hang out space!

The drinks here are amazing! I came for my friend's birthday party, and the vibe was perfect. There were tons of vintage games to play, and with her 90s theme, it felt like a blast from my childhood. The bartender was super helpful--after I told them my drink preferences, they gave me great recommendations, and every cocktail I tried was top-tier. We had pizza and salad, but the pizza was definitely the downside--it didn't taste great, which, to be fair, was on brand with classic school lunch pizza! Despite that, the atmosphere, great drinks, and nostalgic feel made it a fun experience. I'd definitely come back for the drinks and the overall vibe!

A very fun bar with an arcade. They have pinball machines and old arcade games from my younger days. You order your drinks/cocktails from the bar area. I had a blast here and would definitely go back. Its a fun atmosphere and we went early enough that it wasn't too busy yet.

I always have a great time when I go to Headquarters Beercade. They're open everyday, often pretty late, and I've never been charged cover to go in here. They always have 15-20 unique taps that rotate at the bar, and all different kinds of liquor if you don't want beer/cider/etc. I always try to order 2-3 drinks, as there's no cover charge. It's a great stop late at night if you're looking for something to do! Never had the food here before, but it looks really good. The ambiance is so cute. It's an arcade that has tons of pinball and classic arcade games - Many of which you might have seen in your local pizza parlor growing up if you are a 90s child. All of the games are well maintained, and most importantly, free (aside from 2-3 specific games, like the money crane game and pop-a-shot). My favorite games are Tapper, the Crusin' World Tour racing game, and Madden Football games from the 90s. The clientele at times can be a little sketchy (depending on the evening), so I'd just keep an eye out and make sure you watch all of your possessions. They ID everyone at the door, 21+ at all times, so no kiddos. Street parking is available outside of the bar.

two words: free!!! play !!! for that reason, this place will always be a 10/10 in my book. a good selection of retro games (you only have to pay for basketball and i believe the claw machine ??) and the drinks and fun and inventive (froot loops and oreo shot in particular), though not cheap ($15 cocktails). a comfortable vibe appropriate for most occasions and the staff are pretty hands off (in a good way!)

We've been to quite a few Headquarters locations, but this one had some awesome decor along with a slick cocktail menu. I ordered a " Blue kids on the Block" cocktail and was wowed by the flavor. The blue Redbull ice cube was top notch! Great spot to play some games and enjoy some great crafted cocktails.

I saw a pic of this place in some sort of article about places to visit in Chicago and immediately texted my friend that we should go the next time I visit her in Chicago. Any place with a sign that says "don't grow up it's a trap" is my vibe. We found street parking about a block away and it wasn't overly crowded on a Friday around 5. We got drinks at the bar and wandered around. To our pleasant surprise, 99% of the games are just free to play. I am terrible at games but I was laughing so hard. They had lots of pinball machines, retro arcade games, and, my favorite, skee ball. They happened to be playing Labyrinth on the tvs, which is coincidentally my friends favorite movie of all time, and so random. The staff were all pretty friendly too.

A picture perfect cheeseburger and fries enjoyed by this sweet gentleman.

Best arcade for happy hour! We went around 5pm and enjoyed the variety of beers they had. Shout out to the bartender who served us well and gave great recommendations. If you're hungry, get the hurricane fries. I was blown away by how good they were (Japanese-inspired with bonito flakes and sweet soy sauce). The games were well-curated and I especially loved playing the different themed pinball machines they had. This is the perfect place for a friend gathering, date or even birthday. I'll be going again soon! -AT

Great beer at this place. I came here for funky brunch Justin Martin and the venue didn't disappoint. I love pinball, and there's plenty of it here. The food is not that great, I'd recommend eating elsewhere. But the beers were great, full bar, a few signature cocktails that were ok, and the pinball was on point. Walk up bar service, the food is what you'd expect for bar food.

    Is there pool tables?

No. At least, not on the main floor. Not sure if private rooms have them.

No. At least not regularly. Not that I have seen at least.

When I was here yesterday, I found that almost all of them were a buck, a few were 75, and a fewer were 50, and maybe on for 25. Now that said, Logan Arcade does have a tremendous selection of different pinball machines. Many of them are modern Sterns, some are older Bally's, a few old school, and one being the mechanical type with no computers within. There is also a fair selection of other arcade games, some vintage, others a bit newer, which I did not partake in. I have to say though, one of them was Dance Dance Revolution, which I haven't seen for at least 15 years! On the modern side, they have a totally awesome motion + VR-based game, which is a lot of fun to play. Though I am a bit embarrassed because I think you can see how I'm playing right behind me on a massive screen. Still well worth the five bucks for the experience, if for nothing else. Another thing I really like that they do is that instead of operating based on tokens, it's quarters. The one advantage to token is you're able to buy them with a credit card (though usually in $5 increments). Quarters, meanwhile, don't lock you into playing a certain amount of games - get as many quarters as you need and then leave with what you don't- it's US currency, use it anywhere you'd like. Where it comes to their bar service, I can't really comment as I didn't buy anything this time around (the photo is from a few months ago). However, looking at the menu, it seems they are more about cheap options as opposed to anything worthy of writing home about. So we are left with an arcade that is good fun to kill a couple of hours. It's one that has market rates for modern arcade games, cheap classics, and cheap booze. Likely more funs with friends if you are competitive.

I thought the food was good (not excellent but not bland like other reviews stated). The best part of the experience is the vibe in the space. There were also protests in the area earlier in the day so many of the non-hotel guests in the Game Room were from that (as we could tell from the signs they had with them). It can be a lot to take in but once you get some tokens or a playing card and play your first game, you should be quickly acclimated to your new setting. My friend and my favorites for the night ended up being Skeeball, the milk jug toss, the largest Pac-Man game ever, some of the pinball machines, and the large Connect 4. Honestly, the milk jug toss was a sleeper hit. Don't sleep on it. You can buy a card and add money to it instead of buying tokens. We found that was most convenient and easy for us. You win tickets for each game you play, and there's a cute store where you can claim prizes. The whole place is supposed to have a Steampunk theme. It's not outright obvious, but you can tell by looking at the ceilings or going to the bathroom (there are many stalls and they're very clean!) You can buy food and drinks at the bar and also watch sports. Overall, FTW Chicago would make a great girls' night out or date night, or I could even see coming by myself. Stop by if you're in town.

Liked - Over 900+ games. I mean, just by sheer numbers, that is impressive as hell! Every game you can think of, and then some. So many games I had never heard of before. - Unlimited play with entry. - Its like an interactive video game museum, pretty much. Didn't Like - $25.00 to get in. Wish they had a "by the hour" type pricing. I was there for about 3 hours, and I probably just broke even, money wise, on the games I actually played. - Almost TOO MANY games if there is a such a thing. I spent half my time walking around looking at the different games instead of just sitting down playing them. - Hot inside. Little bit stuffy in there, and it wasn't even that crowded. Couldn't imagine if the place was packed during the Summer months. - Some broken/unplayable games. Most of them I tried worked, but there were a few where the controller was jacked, or certain buttons didn't respond/work well. Would I come back? Yeah, maybe. I'm glad I got to see it, and was impressed by the sheer number of games they have. I just didn't have as much "fun" as I thought I would for the $25.00 entry fee.

This is to say nothing of the games where the goal is to win tickets to exchange for prizes - don't get me started on the shenanigans at play. Galloping Ghost has arcade games where a simple joystick and a couple buttons is all you need. There are some older shoot the screen games, and other retro games as well. Let's say that none have a modern, flat-screen, and all are old enough to use CRT (Tube) Screens. Given their age, the games are kept in very good shape! I also love that Galloping Ghost is about the love of the games, and not about the love of liquor with games being an excuse to drink. There are bottled sodas available for sale, but not cup-holders, alcohol, or food. Even gum is forbidden. This also has the effect of being a community icon! When I visited, there was a gathering of furries (not something I engage in, but power to you!) I haven't even gotten to the best part: $25 for all day, all-you-can-play access. Open from 11am to midnight (or 2am Friday & Saturday night). The ticket allows you access throughout the day, so you can come and go as you please. Better still, an extra $5 gets you access to all-you-can-play pinball a couple blocks down the street. Also a good selection of fun machines somewhere between retro and modern Stern. Final verdict: While Chicagoland has some arcades with free-play, and some even don't require an entrance fee, these, despite a modest selection revolve around booze. Galloping Ghost is a dying breed that exists to test your skills, maybe set a record if you're that good, and hang out. All this, for a very reasonable entrance fee.
