Bowling balls are showing signs of wear and tear, and the scoring technology is definitely old school. I wish they had booths for all bowling lanes - instead most had small high top tables which were crowded, awkwardly placed and uncomfortable. I arrived around 6:30pm on Thursday evening with my son and sister. We had the Go City All inclusive pass and this was one of the attractions. I reached out to reservation person that morning via email to schedule. The lady was very responsive and I was quickly booked. It was noted that it is 21+ after 8pm, daily. The pass allowed for 90 minutes, so I scheduled for perfect timing. With the pass, we each got 2 slices of pizza and a drink. We also got 20% off any additional food. he prices were high. My sister got another lemonade and it was $5... My sister thought it was a free refill but it wasn't. The waitress didn't made it know that it would be a charge. it was a small cup too. I didn't feel the prices were reasonable, so I didn't get anything, even though I wanted some food. We decided to hold off and ate after we left. For me, the pizza was mediocre. At the same time, my expectations for bowling alley pizza isn't that high. They advertise to have "luxury dining" and to be upscale. I would say the bowling alleys back in NC where I'm from are more "upscale" than this was. The location is premier but a bar in a bowling alley is becoming more typically now. The menu was typically bowling alley stuff with the except of filet mignon sliders and a NY strip. Had an awesome experience here from start to finish. Booking was simple, and everything was ready for us the moment we walked in. The team working that day went out of their way to make sure we were all set and comfortable before we even hit the lanes. What really stood out was how clearly everything was explained -- super organized, no confusion, and they made the whole process feel easy. Your shoes are included with the GoCity pass and drinks as well though not refills from my understanding. The location is close to the river walk so very convenient. I am in town visiting friends and met up with a few who had a hankering to go bowling. I lived here in Chicago for 20 years but only knew of a couple places. This one came up on my Yelp search and open table allowed me to make a reservation for 20 minutes from when I was looking! This spot is right near House of Blues. Not here (as far as I know) when I left in March 2020 before the Covid lockdowns. It's beautiful in here! Walk in the door, up the stairs (or use the elevator if you need to), and go check in. RJ was working the desk when we checked in. Very helpful, friendly and got us situated with our shoes. Everything was clearly explained when we got here. You're on a clock so get started quickly. The balls are so cool, they mimic pool (billiards) balls with weight and color exactly matching lbs and what you'd expect. Holes are drilled super nicely so it's not difficult to find a ball you like to throw. Tori was our server tonight, she was working so hard and I think for the entire place (4:30 PM) they only had two walking all of the lanes. We never wanted anything because she was on top of it, friendly, professional, and super kind. I wasn't drinking alcohol so at one point to avoid asking Tori for refills every five minutes I went to the bar and got a pitcher from Brian. No judgment from him- just a pitcher with cups and straws and off I went back to bowl. Once you type in names and start- it's so easy to just have fun....or just be terrible at bowling. I literally was the worst bowler there for game one. As our time wound down and we were almost finished with game two (one frame to go) we asked for an extension of a couple minutes so we could finish the game. Tori helped us out there and I hope she doesn't get in trouble for that. She could've easily said no, I'd have been disappointed- but instead we finished in less than 4 minutes and got our competition finished. It's not inexpensive to bowl here, but it's in a nice area, the layout is nice, and you can get alcohol and food if you like. There was a big birthday party happening two lanes away so it was good we finished up when we did. Bathrooms were clean and I couldn't have been more pleased with the results of the visit. The decor is nothing striking, typical bowling alley, and the lanes have high top tables and stools, which doesn't leave much room to spare for food. The website has a Yelp deal that 4 or more players will get a free pizza. We also ordered another pizza, sliders, nachos and drinks. We were into the 4th or 5th frame when the food was delivered, which was right up our alley. The food is casual bar fare, and didn't bowl us over, but was perfectly fine. The table was cramped (as I mentioned, no room to spare). I also saw that a check-in on Yelp yields a free cookie skillet, which we were too full to split. Our lane was good; we did not experience any technical difficulties. It was us that caused the gutter balls. The staff was friendly and quick to assist us. The staff here is just great. We were there this past Saturday 5/29 and the bartender and front desk gentleman and the woman who was serving/bussing the lanes were all just so helpful and positive. There was an issue with our gift card we had but the bartender (forgot his name but has been there 15 years) got it resolved and handled a frustrating situation wonderfully! maybe could be improved: a LITTLE more lights on the lane itself, I was struggling to see the lines on the lane with the tv reflections. We did the 90 min pizza and bowling thru the Go City pass. It was a fun experience. 90 minutes was enough to get through 3-4 games with 2 people. Pizza was decent, and staff were nice. The ambiance is nice and they had some old 2000s upbeat music playing. I did have some issues there though with the ball returning thing breaking and we had to call someone to fix it mid game, and our score board went out of sync with the pins too, but the workers were helpful in fixing the issues and added the extra time that was lost when dealing with the issues. Their system controlling the computers in each lane was also down when we arrived and had to come back later in the day which was thankfully okay since we had a pretty open day. read more

Originally, the person letting people in told us that there was no space and that we had to make a reservation before coming. He said he had a choice whether to make a reservation in person or on the phone. It was really odd because it seemed like he was pushing us to go and just make the reservation over the phone. Anyways, we decided to head inside and make a reservation in person. Good thing we did because they had an open lane available! Last resort bowling spot. This place is crazy expensive ($25/person/hour) and an additional $5 for rental shoes. We had three people in our group and asked for two lanes, and they said no. Honestly, we should've just come separately. We were only able to get through 2 full games and 9 frames of a third even though we were rushing. The place is also very dark so you can't even see the arrows on the lanes unless the TV brightness hits the floor at the right angle. Only giving two stars because of the free cookie skillet when you check in. Also, I had tried to order this at the front desk when paying for the bowling but the guy said to order with the bartender. There was literally no bartender. Half an hour in, a lady started standing there in the dark on her phone. Finally got the skillet which was tasty but wowee, this place sucks. The bowling alley itself definitely has more of a sports bar vibe with giant tv screens and a large bar. Each lane has a high top table instead of your traditional seating. This a typical bowling alley right in the middle of downtown Chicago. First off, they do NOT allow for outside drinks in which try are strict. So either you finish it, toss it, or they will hold it in front in the security area in the entrance. I think it's a bit excessive considering most places at least allow bottled water. Now once inside, the staff was nice and friendly. The biggest issue I had was that there was oversight lost on my food. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes for 2 slices of pizza to come out. I was done with bowling long before the food came out. Lastly the bowling balls...they definitely need to get new balls. A few of them had jagged or sharp edges. I had to bounce between different bowling ball sizes to try to find one that worked. Needless to say I just ended up using whichever. Overall an average experience. read more

July 2021 - COVID Review: My husband chose this as one of our stops with our GO City Pass since the Chicago heat was getting to us and the deal was great - 2 hours of bowling with shoe rental and slices of pizza. Had it not been for the pass, I wouldn't be caught spending $25 per person per hour plus $5 for shoe rental??? You have to call a separate line to reserve your spot if you have the pass and the personI spoke with was very nice. When we arrived for our reservation, we were told to order our pizza (which is just two slices per person) at the bar. The female bartender that we spoke to was extra rude. She didn't care to explain what was included in the deal for the pass and when we ordered our pizza toppings from the menu, that was only when she finally told us that we could only choose from cheese or pepperoni. She also made it seem like we were asking for something so outrageous when all we asked for was two glasses of ice water. Remember how I mentioned trying to escape the heat outside? We didn't want to "burden" her further by asking for a refill on our waters. We would've ordered some alcoholic drinks had the service been nicer. But I don't recommend actually spending any money here on your own. If you have the City Pass, it's worth a visit though. read more

I came here because it was included in a Go Chicago package I'd purchased, and my MY, I don't think I'd have ever stepped foot in otherwise. To keep things general, I paid just shy of $300 for two people to have access to the Field, the Shedd, Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago History Museum, Children's Museum, Skydeck and 360 Chicago, a river tour, rides at Navy Pier, plenty more we didn't get to, AND the deal here: 2 hours of bowling, plus shoe rental, two sodas, and two slices of pizza apiece at 10pin. They normally charge $25 per person per hour, plus $5 for shoes, and let's say $15 for pizza and a drink. For two people (and two hours) that's $140. Almost half of what I paid to get into ALL those other things. So yeah, it's pricy here. Granted, it's River North. It's Marina City (the corn cob buildings). So it's right in the heart of "that's where I want to be in Chicago." But still. Can't say I'll be back at those prices. All that said, bowling was great. Balls were all already in the ball returns, so we didn't need to hunt high and low before getting started. The shoes were velcro, too, so we got to the actual act of bowling in record time. While the animations aren't quite as fun and hokey as some alleys, there is a touch of whimsy, plus screens with sports and music videos lined the walls above the pins. Checking in on Yelp netted me a free dessert, so be sure to check if that's still active. And while the service was pleasant, the front counter practically turned into a bar while we waited to speak to someone, and the one poor guy trying to get separate payment and shoe sizes for about a dozen young imbibers, he really could've used some backup. read more

This is a decent bowling alley, but I'd say there are better ones in city. It's located on the second floor and they have ID check at the door. We came after dinner so I didn't try any of their food items. They offer a free skillet cookie with ice cream with Yelp check-in, which I asked our server for but it was eventually forgotten. Our bowling balls got stuck inside the conveyer belt half way through the night and the staff were quick to respond and very professional. The issue was fixed almost immediately. The technician who worked here that night appeared totally top notch in his skills. A huge plus about this place is that their bowling shoes all appear very clean and in good shape. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of is that their bowling lanes are not lighted so it does appear quite dark, but that's just my personal preference. read more

Since everyone didn't arrive at the same time, we we're offered the flexibility to order food first, and then when more people in our party arrived...to start the 2 hours of bowling. Offered...didn't have to ask (like I said... Great Service). So, we ordered cheese, sausage, pepperoni pizzas, barbecue/parmesean wings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and nachos. Everything was delightful and presented well. They stored my daughter ColdStone ice cream cake until we were ready to sing ... Happy Birthday! Very disappointed in the management at this company. We (and other customers there) booked through open table which stated the cost would be $55 per lane for an hour. Once we got there, we were charged $150 for a lane for 1 hour. We spoke with the manager to explain our frustrations and she was very rude and didn't seem to care. We even showed her the open table description and all she said was "well that was precovid pricing" (Let's not forgot covid started almost a year ago). Although I understand businesses are still struggling due to covid, I consider it bad business to falsely advertise your pricing on one of your vendors site. She then proceeded to tell us to call the owner because she can't do anything but shockingly the owner was not there and she couldn't give us the contact info. Highly recommend they make updates to all of the places they advertise on because I wouldn't have agreed to pay that had I known it was this price. read more

Well, you can tell this place is pretty old as soon as you walk in. It's small, dimly lit, and the hand fans on the ball racks don't work. We came at 6pm on a Thursday night and were told the next opening wasn't until 7:30. We waited around for a while at some lonely table in the corner, since half of the bar area was blocked off for some party. When we finally got our lane, we were told we could do 1 hour of unlimited bowling for $65, or pay $7 per game, per person with no time limit. Since we had four people in our group, we chose the latter because the games would take longer. We ended up playing two games in two hours, which cost $56, so that was a much better choice. The service was good and the waitress kept us well-hydrated. The cocktails were all $11 so I went with PBR tall boys, which were $4.50 each. The turkey burger came with fries and was filling, but was a little bland. We also got the free skillet cookie for checking in, which was LOADED with ice cream! After we were done, we were able to split our check evenly four ways, which was convenient for us. Not a bad place to come if you're in the neighborhood, but with the long wait times you might be better off finding somewhere bigger. read more

Last weekend we stopped by to play some ball. Reservation was made thru Open table so we had no issues getting in, but an hour later there was quite a big line formed, so make sure to secure a reservation before coming. Everything was going great up until a pin got into an area to bring balls back so we never received our balls after the shot. We notified front desk and it took about 10 minutes for engineer to arrive. He ended up opening up all the hardwood floor to get a pin out. Then he came back because he forgot his radio somewhere. At the end we lost about 20 minutes of play time and by the time the line was fixed the momentum was lost and we were not super eager to continue playing. read more

We were here for a group event and given that this place specializes in group events and corporate events, they should be well staffed to take drink orders and serve drinks. It was a hassle finding our server, we were constantly looking for her, and really long waits to get drinks. The food was greasy and very disappointing. The sliders and mini hot dogs were the best things out of the choices we had. Baked potato had a ton of cheese on it and thoroughly dried out, the artichoke dip was greasy, the fried ravioli was gross. They had several different event groups right next to each other so it felt cramped. The actual bowling was good though. Lanes were nice and we played a full round. The floors were a bit slick though as two of our team members slipped. I guess I'd say it's an ok place for a work event, not sure I'd go here for bowling just for fun. We were good customers and would have taken care of her. This evening started out great!! It is my birthday and my best friend had a gift card so we decided to come here for my 40th bday. Daniel at the front counter was very nice yet promised things he could not offer apparently. Never argue with a customer!! We asked for a manager twice, yet the server Danielle came back and argued with us three times over the bill. This is NOT the servers job, it is the manager's. What a short coming for this establishment that the management would allow the server to do their job!!! We were offered 30 minutes free time and then we were charged for it. I am not a person that likes to complain unless I have too. This was a HUGE buzz kill for my BIG birthday and my friends and I have no plans on returning because of this situation.
