Server/Bartender Scotti is the GOAT! My friend's truffle fries were missing truffle and parm but Miss Scotti got 'em together in the kitchen. Fun positive energy and a poppin playlist make this happy hour venue a true delight! My friend and I enjoyed 4 cocktails, chicken wings with fries, and fried chicken tacos. Then green tea shots with the birthday girls (someone and I). The porn star cocktail was thee best! The caramel apple french 75 was good too, and the peaches & cream cocktail was also yummy. My girls and I came here for Saturday Brunch! Parking was easy to find right around the corner in a lot. The inside was so much smaller than expected and to top it off, they were oh so crowded! Super cutesy spot! I believe the place has two levels. I was with a larger group, and we were seated upstairs. We had a reservation, but we ended up split between two side-by-side booths. It was a bit of a weird setup -- it felt like we could've all fit at one table, but we made it work and got over it pretty quickly! This place has such a lively vibe. They play great music, have a full bar, and the menu is huge. Plus, tons of neon signs -- love that. Our server was super sweet and patient with us as we figured out what we wanted. She also was extremely busy, and was even the bartender! She answered all of our questions and made the whole experience really pleasant. Since the energy was so fun, a couple of us decided to kick things off with a shot ski -- yep, a shot taken off a ski. It was such a fun way to start brunch. I split the chicken and waffles, which came with whipped cream and berries on top. The chicken was wings which were fried to perfection, and the waffle was way better than I expected. I stopped by for happy hour on Thursday with no reservation, and there were no spots for us. But the host was extremely nice and was able to squeeze us in. The burgers were good, but I had requested no peppers on mine but it still came on it. My boyfriend had requested his with no sauce and it also came with it. One of the members of my party got there on time, and they told her they would not start our 90 minute reservation until the rest of the party arrived. The service was mediocre besides that. They do not check on you often, but they did come back to the table a few times. Be warned that they do include gratuity in your check regardless of the party size. The ambiance was nice. Chalet is indeed a beautiful establishment with a fun vibe. When you walk in there is a DJ playing on each of the two floors. They have an all day menu, but I came for the brunch. I ordered the carmel french toast, turkey sausage and eggs scrambled with cheese. The carmel toast was exceptional. It was my favorite of everything I ordered. However, the turkey sausage was dry and the eggs were just okay. My guest had the truffle mac and cheese. Now the mac and cheese blew my mind. It was perfectly made. I visited on Saturday with a party of 4 and as much as I loved the ambiance-music, decor, and warmth of the establishment, the service and food was severely lacking. Our waitress visited the table about 5 minutes after our initial sit down. The hostess brought us water while we waited to order. Our waitress took our order, drink and food, and we didn't see her anymore. The busboy and food runners are who helped us get silverware and order additional items. We saw our waitress, who was sitting at the bar, eating her lunch but she never checked to make sure we were good. The food was mediocre-I found that most items lacked salt. The Mac and cheese was flavorful and had great consistency but again lacked salt. I ordered the truffle Parmesan fries with my entree and had to salt them. We had to get someone to get our waitress to check out. When we received our tickets, we realized we had a service charge along with a 20% gratuity. Had a fun time hanging out at this River North establishment. It was a very nice day out and saw that they were having a day party at this venue so decided to venture on over there. plenty of paid street parking nearby. for this establishment you you can book a table on the OpenTable app in case you want to secure a spot for eating. Upon arrival, we did have to go through security, so that aspect is nice to a certain extent. We were promptly seated at the bar after getting through security to have a couple cocktails. For cocktails we ordered the porn star martini, and the sidecar cognac cocktail. We enjoyed our cocktails and they were priced appropriately for river north which is still too damn expensive. Downstairs the music vibe was good and chill. After enjoying our cocktails downstairs, we ventured upstairs where pretty much you're gonna get your cocktail in a plastic cup. The vibe upstairs was not really chill and the music was pumping the DJ was doing a good job of trying to play to the crowd. There was no seating upstairs unless you paid for VIP and dance floor was pretty small. Not that many people were dancing anyway. My Best Friend took me out to Chalet to celebrate my birthday. This was our 1st time at Chalet, and the experience was not the greatest. Ambiance/Vibe: Though the place was packed, it had a small, lively crowd. They also played decent music. Around 7:30pm, they dimmed the lights and turned up the music. I'm sure the place has a nice late night crowd/experience. Service: While we didn't have the most attentive server, I can't say that service was bad... just average. Dinner: We started with Chips & Guac. The guacamole was good - nice and creamy. The chips were stale! They had that hard crunch like the bag had been left open for a few days. For dinner, I had the Crab Cakes and a Caesar Salad. My bestie had a Caesar Salad with Chicken. Our girl had BBQ Wings and a side of Fries. I'll start with the positive: my girl said the wings and fries were good. They were so good that we ended up getting another order of Buffalo wings and fries. The value isn't the best, though - $16 for 6 wingettes is kinda crazy (yeah, you read that right - they weren't full wings)! The salads were soaked, drenched, drowned, etc. in Caesar dressing. The salads come already dressed (well over-dressed) - big mistake! It was too the point where they weren't even enjoyable. We asked for another bowl of lettuce to mix with the salad - another big mistake. How the chef allowed the bowl of lettuce in the picture to come out of his kitchen is beyond comprehension. The concerning thing is if your undressed lettuce is this brown, that probably means that the lettuce dressed in the salad is this brown, too. The crab cakes were charred on one the side, which gave them a nice crust, but when I turned them over, I could see that they were burnt, not just charred. The crab meat that wasn't burnt had a decent flavor, though the sauce on them and on the accompanying lettuce was super sweet. I will say that we brought the lettuce to the attention of the manager after the meal, and she was very understanding and accommodating. She offered us a complimentary cocktail to rectify the issue, but we were already ready to go. We'd already paid the tab, but she did adjust it and remove the salads. I was thankful for that gesture. I LOVE supporting Black-owned businesses, so I really wanted to like this place. While I probably won't return, I encourage you to check it out for yourself. The service was good until someone assumed that I was going to get cut off. They made a perceived notion of me and if it's a club it's supposed to be a dancing atmosphere. We spoke with the Kent who was understanding and advised that we will receive another shot but did not get that shot. I was overall disappointed because breaking a glass while having fun is something that is expected but definitely something that did not happen.
