    Brunch charcuterie board
    Mariah B.

First time having brunch at Chalet. I had a reservation and we were seated right away, which was nice. The restaurant had a nice vibe with music playing, but it wasn't too loud, which made for a chill atmosphere. I ordered the charcuterie brunch board, and the food came out hot and pretty quickly. The boneless wings were well seasoned and flavorful, but the regular wings lacked seasoning and were completely flavorless. The eggs were cooked well but definitely needed salt and pepper. The potatoes were a little hard and didn't seem freshly prepared. The pancakes and waffles were just okay, nothing standout but fine. The portion was big enough for two people, and we even had leftovers to take home. Our server was great, super friendly and attentive the whole time. Overall, the service and vibe were great, but the food just didn't match the price.

Came here on a Saturday for brunch without a reservation , and was able to get seating at the bar upstairs. I recommend making reservations. The inside was cozy and the vibe was perfect for brunch. Courtney was our bartender and she was super sweet!!! As for the food...shrimp and grits, i'd give a 5/10. It was cooked well, it was just too spicy for my liking (and i love spicy foods). We also tried their wings, with the housemade peach sauce on them...9/10! They were delicious. We started and ended the brunch with a mimosa tower. Worth every penny. Overall, i would come back for the vibe and the wings, but would def try a different entree!

Amazing service and the food was delicious! I'm so glad they offer a breakfast board filled with a variety of brunch foods because that was perfect for me and my friends to share. I love how they bring out shots in a cute airplane as well & offer mimosa towers as well. It looks small from the outside but Chalet is actually very spacious and has upstairs seating as well.

This place is always packed, the venue is on the smaller side so make sure to get a reservation. The food is honestly bar food, nothing to write home about. I think most people come for the vibes and music, there's usually a Dj playing hip hop and R&B.

My girls and I came here for Saturday Brunch! Parking was easy to find right around the corner in a lot. The inside was so much smaller than expected and to top it off, they were oh so crowded! Wait times were ridiculously long. We waited approx 1.5 hours for a table since reservations were booked out. The music was banging! The food was fantastic! We enjoyed the brunch board and half mimosa tower! It was perfect for the 3 of us; we even had some leftovers. Although we had a good time, I wouldn't recommend coming here for brunch without reservations.

We came here one weekend for brunch to celebrate my friends graduation. She saw this place on Tik-Tok and wanted to come here. We arrived for our reservation and was seated near the bar. The place wasn't that busy maybe five to six people. There was only one server the whole time we were at Chalet. Which prolong in taking our order and longer wait time to pay. The food was just ok. The drinks were pretty good. The music was super loud and the inside of this place needs to be remodeled. This place looks nothing like what is shown on Tik Tok. The upstairs looks old and creepy. There were people finally coming in and was seated upstairs. Five minutes later they were leaving out the door.

Super cutesy spot! I believe the place has two levels. I was with a larger group, and we were seated upstairs. We had a reservation, but we ended up split between two side-by-side booths. It was a bit of a weird setup -- it felt like we could've all fit at one table, but we made it work and got over it pretty quickly! This place has such a lively vibe. They play great music, have a full bar, and the menu is huge. Plus, tons of neon signs -- love that. Our server was super sweet and patient with us as we figured out what we wanted. She also was extremely busy, and was even the bartender! She answered all of our questions and made the whole experience really pleasant. Since the energy was so fun, a couple of us decided to kick things off with a shot ski -- yep, a shot taken off a ski. It was such a fun way to start brunch. I split the chicken and waffles, which came with whipped cream and berries on top. The chicken was wings which were fried to perfection, and the waffle was way better than I expected. Like, surprisingly good. One of my friends got the chicken sliders, which came with fries and (I think) on pretzel buns -- either way, that dish was very good. And the shrimp and grits? I didn't try it myself, but a few folks at the table gave it a solid 10/10. All in all, this place is perfect for groups and a great spot to grab dinner or brunch and drinks before a night out!

I stopped by for happy hour on Thursday with no reservation, and there were no spots for us. But the host was extremely nice and was able to squeeze us in. The burgers were good, but I had requested no peppers on mine but it still came on it. My boyfriend had requested his with no sauce and it also came with it. This kinda dampened the experience, and would've been so much better if we had gotten what we requested. Other than that, the fries and drinks were amazing. There was also an automatic gratuity of 20% added to the check, which is kinda annoying. Make sure you're not double tipping.

Had a 6:30 reservation (happy hour until 7). We ended up getting there early, no spots. No biggie. We got a text our table was ready but the line was so lobo and they were so backed up at the front that we didn't get seated until 15 mins past our reservation, which only left 15 mins for happy hour. I'd say it was disappointing, but the HH drinks were terrible. The place must've gotten a deal on lemon juice because everything was so extra lemony. All shooters, lemon drops, etc. The only redeeming factor was the food. The wings were amazing!! I had Korean bbq, my friend had buffalo. Both sauces were delicious. Boneless wings were so crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside. They were absolutely perfect, but you only get a 1/3 container of ranch with them. I'd come back just for wings and skip the happy hour drinks. Service wasn't great either. We had to aggressively flag our waitress down. They were seriously short staffed for how busy it was. Our waitress wasn't friendly at all either and never refilled our waters or voluntarily asked us if we wanted anything else. Overall the hype is way overstated.

Chalet is indeed a beautiful establishment with a fun vibe. When you walk in there is a DJ playing on each of the two floors. They have an all day menu, but I came for the brunch. I ordered the carmel french toast, turkey sausage and eggs scrambled with cheese. The carmel toast was exceptional. It was my favorite of everything I ordered. However, the turkey sausage was dry and the eggs were just okay. My guest had the truffle mac and cheese. Now the mac and cheese blew my mind. It was perfectly made. It wasn't too cheesy and had great flavors. The mimosas were good as well. I recommend giving this restaurant a try for the food and fun vibe with the DJs on both floors. The music may be loud at times so that's something to consider.

The food was good honestly. The vibe in the space as pretty good and they played good music throughout. I was torn between the chicken and the burger. The burger was just kind of okay but the chicken was good. Fries were very good though. I would go again maybe to try different things to see if anything knocks my socks off. They also did card when we got in so not sure if it's only a 21+ place just to be mindful

How is the parking at Chalet?

There is street parking and a paid parking lot but it was small. I would recommend carpooling or rideshare if you want to get close. You may be able to find parking on an adjacent street or a few blocks down.

I loved the subtle yet not overpowering smokiness of the mezcal in the Oaxaca. Neither were too sweet and you could really taste the high quality bourbon. We ordered the Korean fried chicken and coconut shrimp to eat from the happy hour menu. The shrimp was super crispy with a delicious ginger-orange compote and rice vinegar pickled onions. Taylor for a lower price. Sold! I made a reservation and stopped in that week (if not that very day). The Old Fashioned was fantastic! It had strong whiskey notes without hitting you with a wall of spirit the way a Manhattan, for example, does. The other additions of bitters and syrup did a perfect job rounding the cocktail out, adding sweet and savory notes. As much as I love variety, I loved it so much, I ordered two! I can't lie and say this wasn't at least in part due to the reduced price, that notwithstanding, me ordering two of the same is some of the highest, non-verbal praise one could get from me. For a main, I had the opportunity to try the burger, a special only available 5:00 - 6:30, and mind you I eked in by the skin of my teeth. Before I attempt to break this down, though, I need to take a slight tangent: Do any of you remember the quote from The Menu where Anya Taylor-Joy says: "A real cheeseburger. Not some fancy, deconstructed, affluent b***s***, a *real* cheeseburger."? I am pleased to report the burger here was somewhere between Chef Slowik's "very traditional cheeseburger" and the one Taylor Joy describes! In other words, just fancy enough to feel like I am getting a unique, creative, well thought out dish, but without all the pomp and circumstance! There's just one little problem: as soon as I bit into it, the juices erupting from within soaked the bottom bun, and turned it into a fork and knife affair with an unseen level of precision and speed. Very regrettably, this was the burger's undoing. That first, heavenly bite that had angels singing showed what the burger was really made of (and I mean this figuratively and literally). The beef was of the highest quality, well-seasoned, cooked medium and juicy, with a perfect sear that would have Louis Camille Maillard crying tears of joy. Two types of cheese (one being crisp and airy, the other thoroughly gooey and savory), the perfect amount of bacon, moisture and flavor from a tempura tomato, and divine sauces! One of them was a little sweet, which elevated the flavor like no one's business. Together, all these flavors were a symphony that could give Beethoven a run for his money. However, that unfortunate fact that the thing fell apart so quickly meant that symphony was limited to one bite, the rest being encountered piecemeal. I would rather skip fries than skip dessert (which I did), and ordered the Mango cheesecake. Such velvety perfection! Neither the sweetness nor the mango notes were overpowering, and while it didn't have the crust of a traditional cheesecake, the more gentle variant here absolutely works. I also appreciated the tart sorbet to offer some contrast in flavor, temperature, and texture. Now, let me talk about the service. Given that the restaurant was at capacity, the bar service and speed to get my items was reasonable. Could it hypothetically have been just a touch faster/more attentive? Yes, but in practice, when you have a full house, this is as good as it can get before robots take over. Finally, there is the matter of prices. There is no doubt in my mind that the quality is up there, at the same time, the reason I skipped the side of fries was it would have set me back $11. I suppose the real question is whether or not the quality equals the price, and after some reflection, I think the answer is yes, but one must be prepared for the sticker shock ahead of time. That said, the final verdict: The Franklin Room absolutely delivers on an all-around fantastic meal. I think whatever you order will be in the 90th percentile, at worst! However, this comes at a cost. Therefore, I would love to return to the Franklin Room, but it would likely be more a very occasional treat than a place where I'd be a regular.

This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant.
