So I might be the unpopular opinion... Here are my pros and and not so pros... Starting with the pros: Prive is more of a vibe than the dining area. Prive is the downstairs speakeasy, cute vibe, nice date night and more intimate setting. On the night I went they had live music which was fun to experience. Definitely enjoyed that. Loved the Salmon egg rolls. The waitress was lovely, a little slow towards the end in which after 30 mins to get the check thw bartender noticed and helped but she apologized after seeing her later at the end of her shift. I appreciated her for that. Drinks were good. Not so Pros: The spinach dip and lamb chops was just okay. I like the elote corn and lamb was cooked well (medium) but they were over salted which left me disappointed. Also they charge a 20% service charge which is not considered the tip. I thought this was a thing with large group, meanwhileit was just me. I was annoyed but I was more annoyed to be told it is a "new Chicago thing" only to find out at other restaurants that actually is not true. Just say you are charging people an extra 20%. And frankly this place is so hyped that it is not going to matter because you will get business, but yea dont pretend it is a "Chicago thing." That left a bad taste in my mouth. The vibe is cool but I was underwhelmed by the food. I think to say I did it, it was good but it is not a must visit for me again. Maybe just to listen to music and grab a drink. Maybe.
It's a nice din lit roomy place. You only have 90 minutes for seating. The waitress was very attentive. Well they kind of have to be since you are limited to only 90 minutes. The food is outstanding. The Salmon egg rolls were the best I have ever had. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked, tender and very tasty. The Ribeye Steak was really good. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Don't skip the butter cake for desert even if you are stuffed. It's decadent! So moist, full of flavor, it's delicious! Overall great experience.
I was a party of 1, and sat in between parties with several reasons to celebrate. That being said, the host, staff, and even fellow guests dining there as well, made me feel welcomed. I received exceptional service from CiCi (hope I am spelling that right). Pretty, spacious, and an esthetically beautiful restaurant. I made the mistake of eating a late lunch, but I didn't want to cancel my reservation because I don't know when my next trip to Chicago will be. I ordered the seafood trio 5/5! And the butter cake 4.6/5! There are so many reviews, so I'll keep mine simple and straight to the point. If I'm ever in Chicago again, I'd definitely return!
We had an amazing time at Provare! Even though we arrived a few minutes late, they were very accommodating and seated us while the rest of our group arrived. The ambiance is a 10/10--beautiful space, especially the downstairs Privé section. The Stoney Island was a hit with our group (some even ordered seconds!). The calamari was slightly overcooked but still tasty. My boyfriend and I shared the steak frites (medium well), and it was cooked perfectly--I'd order it again. The DJ was also a 10/10 and really made the night. Highly recommend--we'll definitely be back!
THE FOOD, SERVICE, AMBIANCE, AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN WERE A 10/10! Provaré has the best crab cakes! Although, the fried calamari was decent compared to everything else I tried. The star of the show was definitely the cognac scampi, which was out of this world! It comes with shrimp normally, but I ordered mine with chicken instead. No lie, this was the best pasta I've had in my life. The music was good & the service was spectacular! Overall, this was an amazing experience.
I've been dying to try Provare since it opened, but I just hadn't had the opportunity until this past Saturday when we went with friends. From the moment we walked in, I got this modern Neo-soul, chill vibe that immediately set the tone for the evening. The hostesses were incredibly hospitable, and we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress came by and, after finding out it was our first time dining there, offered us Chicago Avenue shots -- such a thoughtful and welcoming touch. I can truly understand why people rave about this place on social media because the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the crab cake eggrolls and fried lobster as appetizers, and both were amazing. I ordered the Randolph Ave drink, which was sweet and strong -- exactly what I was hoping for. For our entrées, we ordered the seafood trio, and it was superb. It's a creamy Cajun pasta with lobster, crab, and shrimp, with the perfect amount of spice. My husband ordered the lamb chops with Cajun street food corn, and let me tell you -- he got five of the fattest, juiciest lamb chops cooked to perfection! My friend ordered the pasta alla vodka with grilled chicken, and we all shared the butter cake for dessert. Everything from the drinks to the appetizers to the entrées was incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience and will definitely be back!
We had a great time! Tik Tok did not disappoint. We were looking for a place with great food, excellent service, and plenty of swag, and this spot checked every box. What we ordered: * Seafood Trio - 10/10. Spicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. * Lamb Chops- 100/10- juicy, tender and flavorful * Shrimp Cognac - 9/10. Fantastic flavor; I just wish there had been a little more shrimp. * Crab Egg Rolls - 10/10. A must-order. * Butter Cake - 100/10. Easily the star of the night. * MLK - 10/10. The service was wonderful. They do include a 20% gratuity, which is clearly disclosed, and our waitress explained that it is shared among the team. Any additional tip goes directly to the server. I appreciated her honesty and transparency, and she absolutely deserved extra. We had reservations for 5:30 PM, but you could tell that between 6:00 and 8:00 PM this place really comes alive. By the time we were leaving, there was a huge line forming outside. People were dressed like they were heading to a club, and for good reason--there's a speakeasy downstairs that adds to the experience. From the Southern-inspired flavors to the stylish, swaggish ambiance, this place is a hit. I highly recommend giving this establishment a try. We'll definitely be back.
The roasted Brussels sprouts were outstanding--topped with Parmesan cheese and finished with the perfect char. Every bite was packed with flavor. The Caesar salad was dressed flawlessly; as someone who usually asks for extra dressing, I was pleasantly surprised that it needed absolutely nothing. We shared the Nduja pasta, and it was a generous, hearty portion loaded with chicken and sausage. The spice level was spot-on, adding just enough heat to elevate the dish without overpowering it. Again the service is so extremely on point. They do not miss! The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with a classy, upscale atmosphere. The hidden speakeasy adds an element of intrigue that immediately makes you wonder what's behind the door. Once inside, the experience continues with a vibrant DJ, a stylish bar, and an energetic ambiance that turns a great dinner into a memorable night out. It's an entire vibe from start to finish.
Be aware that this restaurant adds a mandatory 20% service charge to takeout orders. We ordered two pasta dishes for pickup with a subtotal of $52. When we received the receipt, an additional $10.40 service charge had been added, bringing the total to nearly $70 after tax. What was frustrating is that this was a small takeout order. We picked up the food ourselves and did not receive table service, yet a mandatory 20% service charge was still added to the bill. When I called to ask about it, I was told it was company policy. The staff member I spoke with said they would contact the manager about removing the charge. My purpose in leaving this review is simply to make other customers aware of the policy before ordering so there are no surprises when the bill arrives. I have yet to receive a call back and it has been 5 days.
I visited Pravare with my best friend to celebrate our anniversary, and overall we had a great experience. We did arrive about 30 minutes late for our reservation, which meant we had to wait roughly an hour to be seated...totally fair. While waiting, we grabbed drinks at a nearby bar. Unfortunately, that delay meant we didn't get to check out the speakeasy this time, but it's definitely on the list for our next visit. Once seated, service started quickly. Our server, Narnica, was fantastic and guided us through the menu with great recommendations. Food Highlights: * Artichoke dip + garlic bread: Excellent. It already comes with shrimp and crawfish, and the flavor was rich and satisfying. * Salmon egg rolls: Texture was perfect...crispy and juicy...but flavor-wise they were just okay for us. * Trio pasta: Delicious overall. The pasta and sauce alone were good, but adding shrimp and crawfish really elevated the dish and made it memorable. Drinks: We received complimentary mango welcome shots (always appreciated!) and a celebratory sparkling rosé for our occasion, which was a really thoughtful touch. I ordered a cocktail similar to a sidecar that leaned sweeter, and it was excellent. THE STAR OF THE NIGHT: The butter cake dessert. Hands down one of the best desserts I've ever had! Warm, moist, decadent, and perfectly paired with ice cream. Honestly, I understand why it's the only dessert on the menu. Service: Outstanding. Staff checked in consistently, bussers cleared plates quickly, replaced dropped napkins immediately. We truly felt taken care of all evening. Things to Know: You must arrive within 5 minutes of your reservation text. There's a 90-minute table limit (though it didn't feel rushed). Definitely make a reservation. There was a long waitlist when we left. Be mindful of add ons: we kept the crab meat on a burger to go and later realized it added about $15 extra. The fries that came with the burgers were amazing...seasoned with Parmesan and full of flavor. Overall: Great ambiance, perfect for dressing up, celebrating, or a fun night out. The energy was lively, and we saw lots of guests heading into the speakeasy entrance throughout the night. I absolutely recommend Provare and will definitely be returning...especially for that butter cake.
10/10! We were here from out of town, coming off a delayed flight and Chi-town traffic (ugh)...we had no time to check-in to our hotel before our reservation (make sure to RSVP). With bags in tow we had to pivot directly to dinner and we were a lil worried about our bags. Worried for what?! We were met outside by staff asking for our luggage and escorted to the hostess. Every detail and accommodation was made from entrance to exit Food??? AMAZING. The drinks were even better and if you're wanting more head to the bar or downstairs to the speakeasy (serving same menu) this does require a separate reservation. I will be back every time I'm in the city! Bravo Provaré. Bravo
My sweetie brought me here last night for a pre-Valentines day date night. It was the first time eating here for both of us and my goodness- this food did NOT disappoint!!! We started off with crab cakes and the salmon egg rolls!! (My sweetie had the crab cakes I'm allergic) he said they were absolutely amazing. The avocado and pico topping set them off right. The salmon egg rolls almost took me out they were so good. They melt in your mouth! The flavor is amazing. (Don't tell anyone but I literally drooled on the table while eating them ) The main courses were the lamb chops and brussel sprouts for the mister, and I had the lemon pepper chicken Alfredo. The lamb chops were well prepared, tender, and delicious, the brussel sprouts were also well prepared and a nice balance between a soft bite and a little crisp. The lemon pepper Alfredo is very filling, but delicious! Flavorful and rich! To top it off we finished with the butter cake! Served warm with cold vanilla ice cream on top and drizzled with caramel- perfection! So so good! Unfortunately the speak easy area was full so we didn't get to enjoy the live music, but the dinner and service was amazing and we had a wonderful evening! Will definitely be back!
Went here for a birthday dinner, and hit up the speakeasy in the basement afterwards. Our waitress was awesome and definitely on top of things. We didn't get a picture of everything, but we had the: - Spinach and Artichoke Dip - dip has a lot of potential, I would've just added more seasoning salt to it, but it was very good - Mardi Gras Pasta - my friend loved her dish - Seafood Trio - good, and had a slight heat to it, but was good, - Salmon Eggrolls: BOMB! Fantastic Saturday night dinner at Povare! The atmosphere was on point for a weekend night, and the drinks were both delicious and strong. Huge shoutout to Devante for the exceptional service and top-tier recommendations--he really made the evening. The appetizers were absolutely perfect. My entree was full of flavor, though just a hair on the salty side. Overall, a phenomenal experience. Great job, Povare team! read more

Provare was such a great experience! The ambiance was classy yet inviting, and the service was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. For appetizers, we started with the fried Brussels sprouts with house aioli. They were good, though not fried the way I was expecting. The real standout was the spinach dip with crawfish and shrimp--absolutely divine. Paired with the garlic bread, it was rich, flavorful, and hard to stop eating. For my entrée, I ordered the lobster bisque pasta and it was so delicious. It came with two lobster tails, and they definitely didn't skimp on the lobster mixed throughout the pasta. The portion size was amazing and worth every bite. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in Chicago! read more
First I will give the ambiance and service 5 stars! Our server Ci Ci was attentive and knowledgeable. I have to say the menu is small and to the point. The food was good the pasta needed something to accompany it with so you have to purchase garlic bread as the pasta is rich! The welcome courtesy shot was nice. I didn't care for the salmon egg rolls very fishy they need a bold sauce. Otherwise it was okay it may be a while before I go again...try for yourself! read more
Truly enjoyed our food, it was excellent, amazing , scrumptious, etc ! This is a must try if you're into seafood. My fav part was dipping the shrimp in the pasta sauce, Provare COOKED with this dish. The service was also amazing, we were well taken care of and we'll always appreciate and love that. Ambiance is nice too, I wish it was more spacious. I had a chance to visit again and the second experience was as good as the first. On a busy Friday evening, my party received our food in less than 30 minutes, everything piping hot and delicious. My friends also tried the butter cake and it lived up to all expectations. This is really my go to every time I visit! read more
While visiting Chicago during an impromptu visit we decided to come here at this Black owned business to celebrate Hubby's birthday. We arrived and quickly found out that we needed to make reservations because this place was packed. We were able to snag two seats at the bar after waiting for a bit. The bartender was great with making sure all of our drinks were on point. He was super accommodating for our birthday plans. The lamb chops and creamy pasta were the star of the show. We were able to get a personal tour of the Speakeasy located downstairs by one of owners. Drinks were flowing and definitely a good vibe. Will definitely be back when in town along with checking out some of the other locations. Reservations are recommended. read more

Provare! Ok, where do I begin?!?!? Well, first, this place is a vibe! From lights to the bar and down to the exclusive VIP Lounge downstairs! I'll tell you about that in a few. I first went with some associates and we of course had to have a reservation. It gets busy quickly! Our waiter was not only knowledgeable but amazing at asking open ended questions around our palettes. I ordered the lobster pasta and added a lamb chop...whew!!! The seafood pasta and the lamb chop had me in a frenzy! They were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection! I'm no longer a huge fan of shrimp and the shrimp were cooked perfectly also. I ate th entire lamb chop and half the plate of pasta. I just couldn't stop eating! I sampled my friend girl's Salmon egg roles and those are a meal all by themselves!! Definitely order these!! Now, back to the exclusive lounge. If you have a Capital One card, use your app to book a reservation. The restaurant has a relationship with Capital One and the relationship gives access/entry to those cardholders with a reservation. It's live downstairs and reminds me of an underground speakeasy. provare was an interesting experience. im giving two stars because the food was great - we ordered the lemon pepper chicken alfredo, smashburger and spinach dip. everything came out fast and hot. taking off two stars mostly bc of the subpar service we received from our waiter, Darius and the odd policies/pricing at provare. darius took a minute to greet us but did bring over welcome shots which were tasty. he was very quick but somewhat friendly. he did not ask if there were any allergies in our party which i did overhear other waiters asking their tables. my mother is extremely allergic to shellfish. our food was brought over and we honestly never heard from darius again until he briefly stopped by and checked on us. i also witnessed the table next to us who also had darius as a waiter receiving subpar service. they were checked on once and received their food after us even though we were sat long after they were. again, i am comparing darius to other waiters and i witnessed several others check on their tables including a party of two ladies next to us who had an EXCELLENT waitress that made me slightly jealous that we did not have her. we finished our food and was brought over our bill which included a 20% tip. which made sense considering darius' service because he knew he would collect an undeserved 20% tip without providing 20% tip service. the bill did NOT include the $5 ridiculous reservation charge taken off. on the website it states that the charge would come off the bill. i asked darius about this and he said we had to check in with the hostess to get the charge removed. huh??? so if we never asked or forgot they would've never taken off the charge and pocketed $5. seems extremely predatory. the cherry on top was when i was signing my name on the check on the payment device, darius said "have a great Sunday" and literally walked away and left his device and never came back for it LMAO. (picture included) we did check in with the hostess about the fee. she was friendly from jump, but took a minute to look up my name and tell me that the charge would come off within 2-3 business days. literally anyone who paid the fee and showed up to their reservation should AUTOMATICALLY have the charge taken off without having to inquire about it. finally, for anyone ordering the smashburger you can have the lobster removed because they are charging $8 for it, something i didn't realize you could at the time of ordering. i don't need lobster on a burger. i hope provare looks to improve it's policies and darius' service as it is a sore spot for a restaurant serving excellent food. we were visiting chicago but if we return to the city we most likely will not return to provare. read more
Family dinner at Provare to celebrate my mom's birthday. I have been trying to bring my parents here for the longest time cause I keep seeing pictures of this place all over social media. This place exceeded my expectations! I loved every dish we ordered here. We were immediately greeted by the host and waited a few minutes before we got seated. Our server was super helpful and nice since it was our first time. We started off with the spinach & artichoke dip which came with 3 jumbo shrimps that were super juicy. The dip was so rich and creamy that you needed the garlic bread! We ordered 2 seafood pasta dishes, a vegan bolognese, and a lamb chop. I do have to warn people that this place is VERY VERY HEAVY! Only I finished my entree and we had 3 to go boxes. If you're not a huge fan of heavy food then I suggest you to split with someone. The entree itself doesn't seem to be a huge portion, but the food is just very rich and heavy cause of all the sauce/butter they use here. Even though it was on the heavier side, I did not mind it at all cause I did bring my mom here as a treat! The music is spot on and inside is fairly spacious with tables for all party sizes. I love how you can kind of customize each entree a bit so that you're able to try everything. For example, I could've gotten a seafood pasta and add one lamb chop as a side item just so I can have extra protein. Overall, I enjoyed the food a lot and hope to return with some friends in the near future. read more

This is another place that's been on my list and I'm so glad I finally came! They have absolutely great customer service and always checked on our table. I love their drinks; great variety and wasn't watered down. The appetizers were delicious; the server recommended some and they were all amazing. The main entrées were huge. One friend got the lamb chops and another pasta and they definitely have leftovers. I do like the low lights and the vibe of the bar/restaurant. It's all black but comforting and great for drinks, date night or meeting up with friends. I'll definitely be back especially for the drinks. First time patronizing. First time in Chicago. Loved the food great music and vybez. Service was courteous as well. *Salmon Egg Rolls * 5/5 Salmon, herbs mozzarella but the chipotle aioli stole the show *Lobster Bisque Pasta* 5/5 Packed with Lobster, sun dried tomatoes and lobster bisque sauce with Fettuccine noodles. *Seafood Trio* 5/5 Shrimp, Lobster, Crab Meat (real crab meat) Fettuccine sauce mixed with their signature Cajun trio (which I got on the side but wasn't overly spicy) read more
Service was okay here, but the ambiance is not exactly what ld expect to be honest. For the food we had the following: Salmon egg rolls 3 of 5: I'd say this was ok tasting, and incredibly greasy because it's fish and a fried dish. By the end of the meal here you may regret this lol. For the seafood Trio 4 of 5: This is a comfort food, and if you want this don't order much else. It's heavy to finish, but the Cajun flavor is there and super buttery. Good if you like that flavor combo, but again limit yourself on how much you order here lol. Lamb chops 5 of 5: probably the most balanced and needed break with our meal. If you want this to ahead, but with the other dishes may have a bit less flavor in comparison to the butteriness of the other dishes. The corn it comes with is very buttery and a little light on that Cajun zing in comparison to the seafood Trio. Butter Cake 2 of 5: Don't get it after everything else. It's just to much butta! Or get it if it's never to much butta. Regardless, I wasn't a fan of this desert during my meal. Flavors didn't seem to mix for the overall complete meal. I'd say give this place a try once, but for me, it's a place lower on my revisit list. Not bad by any means if you get a few things. read more
Definitely 10 out 10! Some of the best pasta I ever had. The food here is remarkable, my favorite is the Cajun shrimp pasta with the fried lobster tail. It's to die for, JK! But service was great as well. They provided welcome shots of a rum type alcohol beverage on arrival . The dessert was also delicious, we order the butter cake. Ohh, I can't forget about the salmon eggrolls (Oh My God ) the best I ever had . This place didn't miss. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. They even have a hidden speakeasy room downstairs. If you can find the door , LOL! But I definitely had a great time here for our anniversary. Wow, what a treat. We were visiting family in Chicago and decided to treat ourselves to a night out. Initially we saw this place on social media and decided to make a reservation, highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. We were celebrating and the staff was on point, they were friendly, explained the menu to us, and made some awesome recommendations. The food is rich, perfect for a cheat day. It was lively inside, dark, sexy but very energetic. We had the spinach dip, the steak and frites. Everything was superb. read more

I love this place! Absolutely amazing food and customer service! I have been a few times and their food and service has never failed! Treat yourself and order the seafood tower, it comes with perfectly cooked shrimp, lobster tails and king crab with an amazing butter sauce that they pour on top at the table! So good! read more

I have visited Chicago a few times now and this was one of my favorite places I've eaten in all of my Chicago trips so far. My only wish is that I had been hungrier and able to eat more, because the portions were massive and so so good. We had a party of four and planned to eat right when they opened at 3pm. I'm glad we made a reservation about a week in advance, because it did actually seem decently busy for an off-hour meal. The sample cocktail they give you at the beginning is tasty and a fun way to kick off the meal! We ordered the crabby fries and salmon egg rolls to start and I have not stopped thinking about the egg rolls -- I probably could have eaten another plate of them by myself. My main dish was the shrimp cognac scampi and it was everything I expected -- creamy, flavorful, delicious. The shrimp and noodles were perfectly cooked. I think this place lives up to the hype and I hope to be back someday. read more

Came to this dinner. I've been waiting on for a year or so to get reservations finally had opportunity to take a look at it. It was a great experience. Great ambience great staff parking was easy surprisingly came in. We had reservations, family of four. Everybody a good drink good actually got to the point where I got full nice space come check it out and have your own experience. Definitely worth the visit. The food was amazing instead of adding things to it. Take the dishes as they come out and get any additions on the side trust me it'll be worth it the garlic butter, the spicy get it on the side instead of ask for extra. read more
I've heard so many great things about this black owned restaurant and I've been more than eager to visit here! The decor is really well done; it's a smaller spot, but not too over cramped or at least me and my friends didn't feel very cramped. I also learned that they have a speakeasy cocktail lounge downstairs, but unfortunately it wasn't open the day that we showed up so I'll certainly return again to give it a try. Our server was really attentive and kind. I really appreciated it, because despite how semi-crowded it was I didn't feel like we had had to wait a long time for our food or drinks. The food was simply amazing! I would order my shrimp scampi dish over and over again. They also give you that option to add a little spice. I highly recommend that especially if you are in to Cajun and spicy foods. The drinks were very well made, and the dessert, which I don't often get while out at dinner was really really good. We had an excellent experience at Provare. Food was delicious. I started with the fried lobster tails which was amazing. For my entree I got the Seafood trio and added two lamb chops. Most tender lamb chops I've ever had, pasta was 10/10. My husband got their shrimp scampi and really enjoyed it as well. read more

Amazing amazing service at Provaré. My friend was unable to enjoy the meal and she was really hoping for some tea help with her stomach and although it was not on the menu the waitress found a way to brew her up some tea. The food came out fast and the overall vibes of the restaurant were amazing. I got the alla vodka and my friend got the Alfredo dip. We got Cajun seasoning on the side but it was soo good we ended up incorporating it all in. The butter cake was extremely delicious and a must have. Our meals were very cheese forward, so I may try one of the protein dishes beExcellent experience. Will be back again. I took an Uber but my friend took the bus and it dropped her off right infront of the restaurant. Very easy to get to read more
We had the best experience here! We made a reservation so as soon as we walked in, we were seated. Our server Cat T was amazing. We asked her questions about the things that we liked, and she walked us through how to make it better (as if that was possible) because the food was already delicious. We had the salmon eggrolls for an appetizer, paired with some really cute cocktails. They do welcome you with a shot of rum punch! For our main course, we had the seafood trio with the sauce and noodles from the scampi topped with broiled lobster on top. For dessert, we had the butter cake AND you didn't need the ice cream. The butter cake was amazing! For a Tuesday, The place was really full. You can tell that people go there for date nights and special occasions. it's a little dark, but the vibe is definitely set for you to enjoy yourself and have a romantic evening. read more

We go to Provare frequently as we live one block away on Superior Street. It is PAID street parking IN FRONT of the restaurant on Chicago Ave., however, just a parallel block away on Superior St it is not paid parking. One can usually find parking…

What is appropriate attire for women?
Honestly anything that isn't gym clothes. I have seen people dressed up like on a date and people in jeans and a shirt. I would check out the IG for examples.
Does the $5 reservation fee go towards your meal?
Yes, I went with a party of 3, $15.00 at the time of my reservation. When we were ready we pay, $10.00 was taken off. We spoke with our waitstaff and pointed out the discrepancy and the $15.00 was subtracted.…
Do they offer any gluten free breading or pasta options?
I'm dining there tomorrow evening and just called and asked and was told they do not offer GF pasta
