Dinner for 4
Matt W.

Fabulous, absolutely fabulous !! Spectacular place to have dinner - drinks wine food desert service. What a wonderful experience on a rainy Th night. Reservation at 615 - promptly seated in the large space (really cool 2 level bar). While the space is big, it felt "small" and we were able to have conversation as the place filled. The cocktails were excellent - the old fashioned made table side were special "can't Tate the bourbon" and the mixmaster was engaging. Dinner was fabulous- I couldn't finish the NY Strip - it was cooked to perfection as were the side - mashed, Mac & cheese & green beans. Wine was wonderful and the dessert....gone even after that huge meal. Service was exceptional- always there but never a bother. Can't wait to return

We live in New York, but my wife was in Chicago for a conference and had Swift & Sons on her list. She was going by herself, which she doesn't really love doing, so before dinner I shot the restaurant a quick message. Just said she had recently become a doctor and was a little nervous about eating alone. Didn't ask for anything, honestly I just figured it was worth mentioning. Well...they completely caught her off guard. She walked in and there was a menu waiting for her with a congratulations message on it. A little later they brought over a card that the staff had signed. She texted me right away because she couldn't believe it. I was surprised too. Nobody had to do any of that. The funny part is when we talked later, she barely started with the food. She kept talking about the people. How nice everyone was, how nobody rushed her, how comfortable she felt sitting there by herself. That's what stuck with her. The steak and sides were great (she already told me I have to go next time), but the hospitality is what I'll remember. It's easy to have a good meal. Making someone feel welcome is a different thing. Really appreciate everyone at Swift & Sons. You probably thought it was a small gesture, but it meant a lot to both of us.

This place was absolutely amazing. I went with some coworkers and I can truly say we ALL enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately we didn't take too many pictures. We got some seafood as apps and it was great. Bread was fantastic. Sides were great, the mushrooms especially were absolutely fantastic. Funny enough, I got the normal bone in rib eye and one of my coworkers got the dry aged. Both were amazing but I preferred the normal rib eye. We did medium rare and BOTH were so nice and juicy. Absolutely amazing. I would 100% come back here and recommend it. We had drinks, old fashion was great. Dessert espresso martini was fantastic and a true dessert version since it tasted sweeter. Great when having a conversation with company. Ambiance was top tier. Very fancy but also didn't feel the need to wear a suit. Staff was awesome and kept us well informed the entire time!

Celebrated my birthday at Swift & Sons Steakhouse, and it was the perfect choice for a special night out. The ambiance set the tone with it being elegant, warm, and inviting. The service was attentive and consistent throughout the evening, which made the experience even better! The lobster bisque stood out to me with its flavor and the presentation while the wedge salad was crisp and refreshing, it gave balance to the richer dishes. My favorite was definitely the scallops paired with potatoes and a flavorful sauce! They were cooked perfectly and seasoned!

Classic steakhouse with an urban feel. The music is lively and the staff is amazing. It deemed like everyone in the house knew it was our anniversary and the manager not only greeted us but engaged us in conversation several times. The food was decent but not perfect. We enjoyed the complimentary bread and salmon tartare to start and those were both great. We also enjoyed a delicious and large bowl of piping hot French onion soup. The filet mignon was average and could have used a lot more seasoning. They were cooked perfectly though. I made mine a surf & turf and the 3 lonely scallops were tasty but abysmally small for a restaurant of this caliber. Dessert was so-so. We ordered ice cream and the Banoffee, which wasn't apie but more like a tart. They were definitely not the highlight but they weren't terrible. The cocktails were very good. We had the Gin & Jam, Rico Rico, and the watermelon taxi. If I venture back here I'd definitely try some different items but it's a solid steakhouse in a city full of stellar options.

Came here for a girl's night out and the ambience was on point. A great place to go to when you are all dolled up, makes you feel fancy! The food was good not spectacular for the prices. I've always wanted to try a beef Wellington; they had it on the menu and it was good. The tomahawk steak was very good and juicy. Good non alcoholic selections and good service!! I wouldn't return for the food but I would return for the vibes

Stunning restaurant, amazing food. Tough to judge the service because we were a table of 14 ordering off a set menu for our size. My only complaint for our dedicated server was I had to track him down when the entire party was seated and we were ready to place drink orders. Started with some excellent cocktails and a punchy Caesar salad - big fan. Entrees were a choice between the filet and a fish dish. Filet is one of the best I've ever had - perfectly cooked, buttery soft. I was very impressed. Sides were shared creamy mashed potatoes and green beans for every 3-4 people. Standard but good. Dessert was the Tavern cookie - a little too sweet for my liking but everyone seemed to enjoy it. Best part of the meal was requesting the magician to stop by and perform a few tricks - it was a little loud and hard to hear but his magic was very impressive! I'd go again and sit in the main dining room with a smaller group of people. Excited to try the rest of the menu. One last thing - order an Old Fashioned if that is your drink of choice. It's $20 but they will make them tableside on a cart and it's very high brow.

Swift & Sons looks and feels like a high-end steakhouse. The ambiance is genuinely beautiful and classy, warm lighting, spacious, great layout. The staff were also super friendly and professional throughout the night. No complaints on the service side. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the setting or the price tag. My steak was cooked to temp but it was totally bland. It didn't even have salt or nothing it was very weird. The sides were fine but unremarkable and didn't make up for the lack of the main dish. For the cost, I was expecting something more memorable, but instead it tasted like a generic steakhouse experience dressed up in lighting and good service. Would've preferred to spend my money anywhere else. If you're going for the vibes that's fine. However, the food was disappointing.

6oz Australian waygu (chefs cut). Melt in your mouth good.

I love this place. Great food. Awesome drinks. Ambience is just special. We had Rick the magician come to the table and I'd recommend for anyone who enjoys a laugh.

Salmon tartare cone. Delicious!

Here we go again.... After about a dozen more visits since my last review, swift and sons is still holding it down. Steaks are consistent. I cannot think of a bad item I've had or even slightly disliked. Filet Mignon great! New York strip GREAT! Mushrooms are great. Also, my go to happy hour. My most recent visit I couldn't believe how great the happy hour menu for food was. Loved all of it. The devil eggs were amazing, salmon tartare was delicious and the lobster eclair was a powerful bite. Oysters are always great here! And let's not overlook the mini shell fish tower. Happy hour is from 4:30-6:00. Ample bar seating. Service is always great and beyond attentive and not overly attentive. Swift and sons is the one place I recommend to friends whom are in the Fulton market area or lower west loop.

Watermelon salad. Sooooooo good.
Jess D.

Incredibly friendly and attentive service. I had a crab cake and watermelon salad. The watermelon salad will live in my memory forever. My partner had the wagyu burger and fries. The burger was as good as one would expect. The motif and ambiance were mid century with an industrial flair. Very relaxing, cozy and charming.

Double Baked Potato

Had reservations for a weekday evening. We were greeted and seated promptly. This was indicative of the service to come. Everyone was fantastic! I'd say some of the best service I've had in the area. The ambiance was also pretty great. The food, unfortunately, fell a bit flat for the price. There are plenty of steakhouses in the area that I'd go to again before returning here for steak. Nothing was explicitly wrong with the food, except the salad, but nothing was spectacular either. We started with the Caesar salad to share. It came out room temp and tasted off--like the egg had broken/separated. The lettuce also didn't look very fresh. We ended up not eating this dish. The bread basket was great! I got the 8oz filet with a side of the double baked potato. My friend also got an 8oz filet and she got the Mac and cheese. The steak was cooked to temp perfectly, but lacked seasoning. There wasn't any salt or pepper on it. The 3 sauces they served on the side definitely helped. The twist baked potato was amazing. I'd definitely get this again. My friend agreed on my assessment of the steak, but her Mac and cheese was a bit dry but overall "not bad". In the end, I'm curious about their seafood and whiskey hour so might return for those but probably wouldn't for a steak dinner.

Ambiance

We visited Swift and Sons for our anniversary dinner! We were quite impressed with the special touches and level of service. After making the reservation, the restaurant reached out to my partner to ask for details so they could make it extra special. This included customized menus to take home, a signed card, and a "happy 4th anniversary" message written on our dessert. It's the little things that really elevated the experience! Now the food -- we are big steak eaters and we were very happy with our steaks. We both did New York Strips. Our server let us know that the menu was organized from most tender, which was super helpful. It was, in fact, super tender and perfectly cooked with a great crust. Great flavor and plenty juicy. We went with two sides to share but we probably would've been fine with just one -- we ended up taking half of each home. I thought the mushrooms especially paired very well with the meat. We did the deep dish cookie for dessert and it was a smaller dessert than some of the others (the cheesecake slice that our neighboring table got was HUGE) but we were honestly so full that it was a good size for us. It was warm and extra choclate-y, super good. In the future I'd be interested in the sweets cart, and I'm intrigued by the magic show option, but wasn't something we wanted to do based on our table location. Maybe next time! I also enjoyed the decor, overall vibe, and volume level. It was definitely busy but not too loud and still felt intimate. I was very happy with my partner's selection to spend our special evening here! Overall a great evening!

I decided to check out this place for a weekday dinner WITHOUT reservations. I knew that having…read morereservations would make dining easier but I didn't plan in advance. I arrived around 6PM for a table, I was told I could go to the bar for bar seating or get my name on the list and wait. So I went to the bar but surprisingly, there were couple other parties waiting at the bar for a seating too. We actually waited about 45 minutes at the bar for seating, and then I received a text an hour later that a table would be ready. Since I was already seated at the bar, I kept my bar seating and forgo the table. So you might be able to get a table seating if you get your name on the list for a weekday dinner. I have to admit this place felt very dim, it feels darker - I supposed that tis the ambiance of a nicer, upscale restaurant. However, I have to admit they are laxed on the dress code. I don't actually know if there's a dress code although a lot of people are in more business casual/dressy attire. I wasn't in anything dressy though and no one said anything. As for the food, I think it is delicious. So we ordered 2 different steak dishes - the bone in aged rib eye and the steak & frites. I love the pairing salt that comes with it, it really tops it off for the steaks. We also ordered sides -- sides do not come with the steaks, they are purchased separately. However, the creamed spinach and the truffle mac and cheese were amazingly delicious. I still remembered the deliciousness as I am writing this review. The sides definitely tops it off. I think they do an excellent job cooking the steak, I love that they already cut it perfectly for me. This is an excellent steak place, great sides. It can get a little busy/crowded, but service is also pretty good. I think the staff does a good job overall given the craziness of this place. It seems like it is always packed. I see people in their "work attire" come here for drinks too and possibly for a bite to eat. I would definitely recommend this place to others -- if you don't want to wait for a table, plan ahead and book a reservation ahead of time. But this place is "casual" enough for you to stop in to grab some food if you're willing to wait.

We ordered the sourdough, crab avocado salad, dry aged ribeye, fried chicken, and mac and cheese. Sourdough: 10/10- ate the entire loaf before we even got the appetizers. Salad: 10/10- amazing flavor and unique. We usually never order salad but this sounded so unique and didn't disappoint - creamy, acidic, perfect appetizer. Fried Chicken: 8/10- above average fried chicken on mashed potatoes. Well spiced but nothing to write home about. Ribeye: 10/10- great steak and honestly not bad pricing. Great crust and flavor, would definitely recommend to split for 2 since it's big. Mac and Cheese: 4/10- pasta was not hot and was undercooked. I usually like al dente but this pasta was hard. It was barely cheesy and was like a alfredo sauce more than cheesy, and the crust on top was lukewarm and stagnant like it had been sitting there. Overall great experience but avoid the mac and cheese.

The sides are a la carte and our waitress let us know that we can order some of the sides as "smalls" since it was just the two of us (thank goodness, otherwise that would've been a lot of food). Although we were full from our meal I know we had to try one of their cakes since I heard the portions are huge and delicious. The chocolate mousse cake did not disappoint. The chocolate was not overly rich or sweet the cookie crumble bottom balanced the mousse out. I will definitely be craving this place when I'm not in Chicago This is already on my list as "places to come back to" if I'm ever in Chicago again.

Perilla Korean Steakhouse -- Chicago…read more We had a very successful brunch at Perilla. The Kimchi Bloody Mary was definitely one of the highlights. Being from New Orleans, I personally like my Bloody Mary a little spicier and with a little more of that NOLA kick, but this was still a really good option and a fun Korean twist on a classic brunch drink. The food was excellent and gave us plenty of variety. The Korean tray was a great choice, along with the bibimbap and avocado toast. Everything came together really well, and there was enough variety that everyone could find something they enjoyed. Overall, it was a great brunch experience with good food, interesting drinks, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something a little different from the typical Chicago brunch. We were looking forward to the Korean donuts unfortunately they sell out early sometimes so if that's something you're getting for For, you might want to get there earlier in the day. I visited on July 30, 2025, and I've been meaning to write this review LOL…read more When we arrived, the restaurant was relatively quiet and did not appear particularly busy. Since we did not have a reservation, we were seated on the outdoor patio. This did not bother me at all! I completely understood the situation. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. I had seen so many positive reviews beforehand, so I came in expecting a much more memorable dining experience. Instead, I found most of the dishes to be fairly underwhelming. The steak fries were enjoyable, there's no way you can mess up meat. Although, I felt that the dipping sauce was what really made the dish. The brussels sprouts lacked overall flavor, and the garlic chive pancakes were noticeably burnt. I have had this dish at other Korean restaurants and have never experienced them being this heavily burnt. I understand that Perilla is a Korean fusion restaurant and that the preparation may differ from what I am accustomed to, but at an upscale restaurant, I feel like the food itself needs to be much more consistent. This is one of those places where the dishes looked beautiful, but unfortunately, the presentation didn't translate into flavor for me. Just because something looks appealing doesn't necessarily mean it's going to taste good, and I think Perilla could really work on that aspect of the menu. Now, the customer service was AMAZING! Unfortunately, I didn't catch either of their names, but the host was welcoming and kind while our waiter was also sososo sweet and attentive throughout our visit. I would honestly give the staff 5/5 stars for their service. They were wonderful, but I don't think it would be fair to give the restaurant the same rating based solely on the service because I can't say the same about the food. I also want to say our server gave us complimentary dessert, how nice! The dessert was actually very yummy, but this is not a dessert spot though LOL. Overall, I really wanted to love Perilla because of all the amazing reviews I had seen, but the food just didn't live up to my expectations. The staff, however, deserves all the love because they were genuinely lovely.

It was essentially a large platter of shells and nowhere near enough food for six people. When we asked to speak with the manager, he came to the table while I was in the restroom. Although six other people were sitting there and available to explain the problem, he chose to leave and never returned. Without speaking to us or offering to replace the meal, he took it upon himself to remove the seafood baller from our bill. We weren't looking for free food we wanted the meal we had ordered so we could eat. After sitting there for hours, we still left hungry and somehow had a nearly $700 bill for a couple of sides, two steaks, and drinks. Our server was amazing and did the best he could, but the management and overall level of professionalism were unacceptable. When a guest's order is wrong, management should communicate with the table and make an effort to resolve the problem not simply remove the food without discussing it. Our server, Jacob, was helpful and his recommendation of the Lyonnaise Potatoes did not disappoint. We had the small whale, an aged ribeye sandwich, and I got the filet mignon with bone marrow butter. The chilled seafood was delicious, especially with the house mustard sauce. My partner said the steak sandwich was the best they ever had. The filet was easily the best steak I've ever had though the dry-aged ribeye at Abrasado in Mendoza, Argentina is a close second. The grand martini was a perfect pairing for the chilled seafood. They threw in a complimentary brownie with ice cream for a bday dessert which was appreciated on multiple levels. We're not affluent and a meal like this was definitely a splurge but I have zero complaints and would 100% come back for a comparable special occasion. Everything was perfect and I'll remember this meal forever. Thanks, Joe's!

Both were fantastic: the filet had a beautiful sear and rich flavor, while the tender, sweet lobster was perfectly cooked, especially with butter. The service was top-notch. Everyone was welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, and our knowledgeable server offered great recommendations. The staff made the meal feel special. Joe's also delivers a classic Chicago steakhouse atmosphere: dark, polished, and lively, with families, business diners, and couples. It's a confident, established spot for more than just steak; a proper night out with polished service and timeless ambiance. Great food and exceptional hospitality made this an experience I'll remember. I'd gladly return on my next visit to Chicago.

Our absolute favorite anniversary and special occasion spot!…read moreSophia Steak never misses. The food, service, and atmosphere are consistently top-notch. They even print personalized menus with your names for special occasions to take home as a keepsake, which is such a thoughtful touch. The crab cake is a must-order every single time. It is packed with real, sweet lump crab meat without all the heavy breading and flour filler you usually find elsewhere. The calamari appetizer was decent, though compared to the rest of the meal, it was slightly less memorable. For the entrees, the scallops were cooked to perfection with a rich, buttery, melt in your mouth texture. The roasted chicken was also incredible, super juicy and tender on the inside with perfectly crispy, seasoned skin. Since we were celebrating a birthday, they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert to finish the night. Everything was truly flawless from start to finish. Highly recommend for any date night or celebration!

I live around the corner so it's hard to not stop in for a bite to eat at the bar when I don't feel like cooking.
