Came to this restaurant to enjoy the happyest meal deal that I saw online. When I entered the restaurant, i who created kindly by the hostess. and I was seated quickly and able to sit on the patio. It would have been nice to sit by the bar as the inside of the restaurant was beautifully decorated but there was no space inside. The server was very friendly and helped me make the decision on what to order. She recommended the double smash burger with the sauce on the side and I got a Mai Thai (not pictured). The food was tasty. The drink was just okay. Overall, enjoyed the restaurant.

The Korean Fried Chicken (6.5/10) was fine with a sweet and savory gochujang-soy glaze, but nothing standout. The Tteokbokki (8/10) was one of my favorites. The rice cakes were super chewy with a creamy, cheesy texture, and the gochujang sauce had a nice kick. The Wagyu skewer paired really well with it too. The Steamed Egg (6/10) was much denser than what I'm used to and wasn't really my thing. The Banchan (6/10) were solid with amazing kimchi. The Wagyu Strip (8/10) was incredibly tender and practically melted in my mouth. The Prime Short Rib and Marinated Prime Short Rib (7/10) were both tender and well cooked, but didn't stand out as much. Service was okay. Other staff checked in often, but our server wasn't around as much and drink refills took a while. 6/10. The vibes were elegant, modern, and intimate. Each grill station is sectioned into its own area, making it feel much more upscale and private. 8/10. Overall, a fun modern Korean American steakhouse experience with great tableside grilling, but definitely on the pricey side.

One of the best kbbq I ever had. The quality was top notch. This is the type of place you go to for a special occasion because it is pricey. My husband and I came here for dinner on a Fri night. The menu was misleading. We ordered the premium steakhouse set ($70), assuming that we could split it between the 2 of us, but you have to order per person. It came with picanha, wagyu hangar, prime short rib, and marinated prime short rib. They were all 5/5 fantastic quality. This is ultimately why I'm giving this place 5 stars. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. We also ordered the brussels sprouts which were the best I had in a long time. It had a hint of sweetness from the golden raisins and fermented honey. The pumpkin seeds added a crunchy element to this dish - I could've devoured this entire plate by myself. The japchae was good too. I like that it had more veggies than your average japchae. Perilla steakhouse was a beautiful restaurant. There's plenty of seating and I was surprised to see that they also serve breakfast. If I lived here, I would probably check it out.

We went for happy hour (which is only available at the bar or outside patio). Everything we tried was absolutely delicious! The service was great; I'd definitely come back here. For food we had: - oysters - Argentina red shrimp (good flavor but you only get three shrimps which didn't seem worth it) - garlic chive pancake (loved the side sauces with this) - vegetable dumplings (really good!)

Elegant Korean BBQ spot inside the Lotte hotel. Each table has a built in grill and the servers cook the meat just as you like. Tried a few cuts and the quality of the meat was spectacular. Picanha: beautifully marbled Australian cut. Perfect balance between sweet and fatty. My favorite Wagyu Hanger: a little on the fattier sides. Good cut. Prime short rib: a little more on the sweeter side compared with the above two Also has à la cart menu and a separate bar menu. - Cold Soba Noodles and Kimchi: expected the cold 비빔국수 but was a little disappointed. Essentially cold soba noodles in Gochujang/kimchi sauce and oerillla oil. Not a fan - Spanish Octopus: grilled octopus seasoned with kimchi vinaigrette. Not impressed. - japchae: this was very good. Glass noodles seasoned with sesame oil and mixed sautéed veggies. Beautiful restaurant with good service. Meat was amazing.

Hubby and I had a pretty good experience at Perilla Korean Steakhouse during our recent trip to Chicago. It's an easy walk when we are already staying in downtown Chicago. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the service was good. We decided to try the "Chef's Set" to have a variety of steak cuts along with the extras like barchan, ssam, etc... I also can't help myself but to order a steamed egg. Then lastly, we tried their Perilla sundae. Ok, overall the experience was nice, but a little bit disappointing. There are several dishes I liked, but I did not love what should have been the star of the show, which are the steak cuts. Every side dish was good to great. I loved the steamed egg (more like a soufflé) and the dessert. I would order those two every time I go. I also love the mocktail drink (Hallasan Volcano). So there are items I'd definitely go back for. Here is a the disappointment for me. The steaks are cooked for you at the table. The service was nice and friendly, but cooked almost everything at the same time. So 1) I forget which steak is which, and 2) by the time I get to the last couple, they have became cold. I remember the first bite of the a5 ny strip truly was melt in your mouth great. But again, by the time I get to the 2nd piece, cause I wanted to try other things, it has become cold and not as enjoyable. Lastly the marinated cut was surprisingly bland for us. So overall, I personally would go back again, but skip the set menu and try different items.

I stopped by Perilla for a quick appetizer and a drink. It had been a long day, and I just wanted something satisfying before heading home. I had just left the hotel across the street and wasn't exactly sure what I was in the mood for. I've walked past this place plenty of times but had never gone inside. Today felt like the right opportunity. I wasn't looking for a full meal, just a couple of small plates and a chance to unwind. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed. Even though I arrived about an hour before closing on a Saturday night, it was still busy, which is usually a good sign. The hostess greeted me right away and told me the wait would only be a few minutes. My server was excellent and made me feel welcome from the moment I sat down. I ordered the Brussels sprouts, the Korean fried chicken, and another appetizer that is admittedly difficult to describe, but it was delicious. Overall, the food was very good. The Brussels sprouts and the other appetizer were the standouts of the meal. The only dish that didn't quite measure up for me was the Korean fried chicken. It wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't have the same wow factor as the rest of the meal. That's really the reason for my three-star rating. Had I skipped the chicken, this easily would have been a four-star experience. The atmosphere, service, and most of the food were excellent. I just expected a little more from what should have been one of the restaurant's signature dishes.

We came for the Perilla x Pop Up Bagels breakfast sandwich pop-up and left pretty disappointed with the overall experience. We arrived about 20 minutes before opening, expecting a wait, which is totally normal for a popular pop-up. What wasn't normal was that once they opened, they started pulling people out of the line if they wanted full service and planned to eat inside. This created a confusing system where people who arrived much later than us were able to order, eat, and leave before we had even placed our order. I understand that pop-ups can be busy, but the line moved painfully slowly. We ended up waiting about an hour and a half, which felt excessive, especially given how the line was being managed. There were also some smaller issues that added to the frustration. The menu advertised everything bagels, but that's not what we received. The sandwich was around $20, which is pretty steep for a breakfast sandwich. When we ordered, we specifically asked if the sandwich came cut in half and were told, "Yes, it would be way too messy if they weren't pre-cut." Then the sandwich arrived uncut. As for the food itself, it was fine. Not bad, but definitely not memorable enough to justify the long wait, confusing organization, and price point. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but the experience was frustrating and ultimately not worth the time we spent waiting.

I loved perilla. The food was great. We came during lunch and just got the wagyu steak frites + steak and eggs. We also got the milk donut. Everything was pretty much perfect. Steak cooked to perfection, went perfectly with the chimi churri it came with. I wish we came during dinner for the actual KBBQ, we will forsure be coming back. Our server was super nice, and the place itself had a lovely interior.

This review is for the breakfast sandwich (with bulgogi patty). Honestly phenomenal. This thing was juicy, flavorful, and had the perfect texture throughout. The English muffin was soft and fluffy, the bulgogi patty def had that unmistakable bulgogi flavor profile & was thicc n juicy, and there was a perfect amount of aioli to add a nice creamy n subtle kick. The hashbrown was perfectly crisp too - add it to the sandwich! This is a gargantuan sandwich tho & kinda messy to eat so keep that in mind! I've been to Perilla a handful of times now (both locations) and you honestly can't go wrong. The service is always great as well and the atmosphere is perfect for any occasion.

Kimchi dumplings

Unfortunately, one of my worst dining experiences was in Chicago. Starting off, our food was delicious. I have nothing but praise for the kitchen team. For starters, we ordered the kimchi pork dumplings and grilled octopus, which both tasted great, but the kimchi flavoring did overpower everything. Our main course included the marinated short rib, wag rib eye, and a5 5 brisket which were all cooked to perfection by our server. However, my experience at Perilla Steakhouse was hands down frustrating. Upon arrival, things were off to a rough start when I could barely hear the server over the music. At times, I felt like our server was rushing us through our meal based on how much less attention he gave us versus the other tables. I'm not someone who needs my glass refilled every minute either to be clear, but things did feel off with how slow our meal was paced out and the general disinterest the server had in us. For reference, we arrived early to a nearly empty restaurant that hadn't started peak dining time yet. I recognize the steakhouse is an upscale, chic take on traditional Korean dishes and I admire the chef for sharing his culture with the city. I also understand restaurants are going to be more expensive, the closer you are located in relation to downtown. Even so, in comparison to other nearby high-end restaurants, the price to portion ratio for our meal felt off. For example, our $16 dumplings included 3 dumplings on a plate. Yes, there's an argument for inflation and the cost of quality ingredients, but I argue that at this price point we shouldn't have left hungry either.

Perilla absolutely exceeded my expectations. The premium set was incredible -- perfectly paired with the banchan, ssam, ssamjang, japchae, and scallion muchim. The soondubu stew was rich and comforting, cocktails were on point, and the white peach sorbet was the perfect ending to the meal. Amazing food, beautiful presentation, and such a great dining experience! We are planning to go back to try their brunch menu!

Wasn't too hard to get a last minute reservation for a Monday night. The restaurant is in the hotel building here (can't remember the name now). Came here with my sister, and we were able to order one of each tasting menu. All of the meats were delicious, high quality. The Wagyu tasting menu was of course much fattier and more tender. One of my fave cuts of meat was the Wagyu ribeye cap, not surprising. The Wagyu hanger from the premium tasting menu was my fave cut from that menu. The servers were friendly. They cook the meat for you at your table, so depending on how they're staffed the night you go and how busy they are, you might have a short wait between some bites. But it wasn't noticeably slow. The tasting menu is served with japchae (yum!), assorted banchan, salad, and ssamjang sauce. They also give you sesame oil with salt and pepper. Most of the meat was seasoned so well, it didn't even need sauce. The banchan sides are great to help cut the fattiness of the meat. If you ask for rice, they will give you some. I know they give you lettuce to wrap, but I prefer a little white rice to help cut the grease personally. Was happy they had it! If you want to order meat à la carte, the biggest surprise of the night was that the marinated short rib which is usually a fave was oddly the least seasoned and the marinade was not super flavorful. I would stick to the Wagyu hanger or maybe one of the ribeye options. Would recommend for some good beef and good service!

On the $65 pre-fixe menu, I see there are numbers next to some of the options. Are those additional prices for those selections?

Some options have specific amounts that you must order like (ex. wagyu is a minimum of 6 oz.) I wonder if this is what you're referring to. Either way, it is certainly worth the try even if you only do appetizers 👌

Do you have a happy hour on the weekends?

My first review, of 9 years ago, was back when Brass Tack was Margeaux Brasserie…read more This is an updated review for its current incarnation. It is a must visit - if only all hotel restaurants were this good. We had a late dinner reservation on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was almost emptied out. So that made for a lovely, semi-private dining experience. Selecting a wine was dicey, as earlier that week flooding had damaged the cellar (!), but our server, Alex, was very helpful and worked with us to find something to my liking. We landed on a 2015 Cornas which was showing beautifully and matched perfectly with our meal. Alex did a fantastic job taking care of us during the wine reconnaissance and throughout the meal. Speaking of which, we started with the deviled eggs, which were amazing. An elegant balance of cream and salt from the caviar. For my entree, i had the venison. It was a seared filet on I believe a sweet potato puree, and it was rich and tender. Order it rare, if its on the menu. Kelly had the filet, also rare, and found it to be superior to most Chicago steak house filets. Our side was the divinely creamy Aligot mashed potatoes. Don't skip on these! For dessert, there was a decadent, gout-tempting chocolate mousse preparation. Served tableside, its all you think you can eat. I had a heaping serving, ate some, took the rest home. Kelly had the (also) Decadent Chocolate Cake, which too was superb. Cocktails were excellent, as is the bourbon selection. Service was impeccable. Our dinner was long and leisurely, and we look forward to returning.

Kari's Rating 7.5/10…read more Came in with a friend around 11:30, it was absolutely desolate except for this client conference call that wrapped up around us. When you first walk in, you have to take the elevator up to the third floor, where a hostess was waiting at a golden black themed restaurant. This place is extremely ornate and luxurious as you walk in and greeted by a full air bar where all the liquor is positioned up in a translucent brass cabinet. Walking a little bit further into the restaurant, you see all of the chairs decorated with a gold studded Maroon leather. The tall ceilings give way to a illuminated faux skylight. The seating designs are minimal designed. We thought we were walking into a brunch menu but they had transitioned to lunch and re-ordered the lobster roll as well as the asparagus tip and almond pasta and the sweet potato fries.

When I was planning my sister's bachelorette party, I wanted to find a restaurant near our hotel…read morethat could accommodate different dietary preferences (i.e. no pork, vegetarian/halal, etc.). I found Ila's on Google and liked the variety of menu items. The food appeared to elevate comfort food from multiple cuisines, such as American, Italian, South American, Asian, and Southeast Asian. I reached out to the restaurant and was assisted with a reservation for 14 people. Our table was set and ready to go as soon as we arrived at 8:30pm on a Saturday. Overall customer was excellent. Thank you to the hostess for making my sister, the bride, feel special. She complimented her and hyped her up for the night, which was really sweet. Our server was awesome too. He was friendly and highly attentive. Loved that our food and drinks also came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed everything I ate. I had a few bites of the appetizers including the scallops, fried paneer, and 2 kinds of empanadas (corn and chicken). We also got lumpia and a mixed bread platter for the table. Though I didn't have any of the latter, they were a hit at our table. I got the burger as my entree, and it was such a redemption from a crappy burger I got elsewhere earlier in my trip. The double smashed patties were juicy and flavorful. I devoured the burger and loved the thin cut fries. All-in-all, we had a lovely dinner at Ila's for my sister's bachelorette party.

Last minute after-work HH at Ila's and it didn't disappoint. The Gin Blossom was shaken to order…read more(love a fresh craft cocktail over a pre-batched one), and it showed. We also tried the chicken & corn empanadas and the cheese pesto flatbread--all solid. The only downside was that it is super quiet with only a 3 parties including us, so don't expect a buzzing happy hour scene. The space is absolutely gorgeous though, with beautiful interiors, comfy high-end furniture, and great service. Hoping this place gets the love it deserves.
