Forever grateful for Restaurant Week! I can't say I would have ended up here otherwise, but I'm glad I did! The space is beautiful, the service is phenomenal, and the food is excellent. I highly recommend the beef soup, the pork belly and the caramel candy bar!
I came here because it was recommended as one of the best deals for restaurant week. I do not think it was worth it but I am glad I went during restaurant week because I would have been outraged if I had paid full price for the meal that I had. It did come with 4 courses but they were all pretty small. I started with the pork belly and while it was good there were only 2 very small pieces of it. I then had the beef soup but it was not a soup. It was a consumme. That is what the menu should have said. It was very misleading and disappointing as a soup. It was also in my opinion served in the wrong type of bowl. The bowl was very shallow so it was hard to actually spoon up the broth. For the main course my friend and I split the fish and the prawns. The fish was boring. It tasted like a pretty bland ,fish and rice with the fish skin being okay. The prawns were good but again very small portion. Only 2 prawns on the plate. The desert was pretty good but you could tell that the cake on it had been in a freezer and they hadn't let it get fully to room temp before it was served. The service was fine but not what I expected from a fine dining experience. They didnt even explain the food when they brought it out. I would say the best thing about the place was the view which was a pretty nice view of the Chicago downtown area.
A little pricey but tasty and good views of the water tower. We were seated quickly and got our coffee right away. I got the nomi benedict. It was a bit salty to my taste but I noticed many things were salty on this trip so could be a Chicago thing. The accompanying potatoes were great.
You can find NoMI in the Park Hyatt Chicago building, 800 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611 - I believe this area is called "Near North Side." I'm unclear on the parking situation as I walked to NoMI from my hotel on Magnificent Mile. Walking up to the building you wouldn't know the restaurant is there unless you look up a few floors to see the sign under a protruding glassed balcony. You enter the elevator to get to the restaurant. The interior is nice, contemporary with interesting fixtures and a lot of warmth - I was seated with a group in a private space that's normally sectioned off with a dark curtain. I attended as part of a conference so the choices were limited except for entree choices. This is what I had and my thoughts on each: * Citrus Grilled Shrimp with creamy polenta - the shrimp was perfectly cooked with a hint of spice that offset the very creamy polenta nicely (this latter had more the consistency of mashed potato than your typical course ground grits). * Baby Kale and Tender Lettuces - baby kale, tender lettuces, shaved fennel, honey crisp apple, candied pecans, dried cranberries, lemon maple dressing. - I liked this salad quite a bit but it was very heavy in frisee which I found a bit off-putting. The overall composition was well balanced overall if perhaps overly-bristly in texture. * Wagyu Strip Loin with grilled asparagus, pommes puree, cafe de paris butter - i ordered this medium rare and it was perfectly provided and really delicious. * Deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake - the dessert, which I had high hopes for after the wonderful lead up to, was disappointing. The texture of the main component was just weird, having the rubbery consistency of gummy bear. The flavors worked well and it was quite beautiful, but very off-putting. I think it's the first time I haven't finished a dessert. The service was overall exceptional - there were several in our section who received the wrong steak (ordered the strip and received a filet) but this was very quickly resolved. I was also able to get in a few classes of a pinot that was requested.
We made the mistake of reserving NoMI for the weekend and didn't realize it's only brunch for the restaurant week menu, not lunch. I was looking forward to the barramundi, alas for next time! Even though it was a gloomy day, the view was spectacular. Our coffee was served cold and we were given hot coffee when we asked for it to be replaced. Hot coffee is a must when it's Chicago cold. The sunrise flatbread was good but needed a little kick to it. The longanisa breakfast sandwich was spectacular and we got veggie sausage as a replacement. The cereal tres leches was great and on the less sweet side. The service was gracious and I can't wait to try it again for restaurant week next year.
The brunch was bustling and I understood why. Not only was the food delicious, but the servers were very attentive and the view of the city was wonderful. My scramble was simple, but tasty. My fiancé's ube pancakes stole the show.
NoMI is a beautiful restaurant with amazing high-rise views! We also enjoyed watching the action in the open kitchen. I visited during restaurant week with my husband and twin toddlers and received excellent service. I loved my entrees: the crudo, roasted squash salad, hiramasa, and lemon almond torte were all delicious. My husband's spiced beef soup and pork loin were just okay for him, though. The kids devoured their heirloom tomato soup with grilled cheese, and even the chicken tenders got a thumbs-up from my husband. Big thanks to NoMI for being so welcoming to our family; it made for a wonderful outing!
Nomi is on the seventh floor and it is beautiful. We seated against the window and were able to look out facing east. Our server, I forgot his name, but he was very attentive and kind. I had the restaurant week menu which included. Cauliflower tempura, the Nomi burger and a Tres leches cake. I also had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The meal was delicious. Everything was prepared quickly and it was fresh. I went to the restroom and it was clean however, it pains me to say that one of their young hostess staff members went into the stall and came out, but didn't wash her hands. Outside of that the rest of the experience was really nice.
Lovely joint with a nice view on the 7th floor of the Park Hyatt Hotel. Always a good meal and good service here. There is a lovely patio for those warm days. I've only been on weekdays and its a bit easier to get in without a reservation or being a hotel guest. Im sure Fri-Sun is a different story. FYI, you can reserve via Open Table. The lobster roll here has me in a chokehold as its pretty good and comes with fries...you can substitute with truffle fries also. The Hamachi sushi roll is good as well. NoMi Old Fashioned is always on point and the salted caramel espresso martini is a good choice. Sitting outside on the garden patio is always awesome as they sometimes have events and/or you can just chill with friends at the bar or at a table. Shout out to the awesome Gus that works the outdoor bar. Thanks for introducing me to the Sobremesa. Great, smooth jalapeno infused tequila cocktail that includes coconut, lime and strawberry...looks and tastes good! Part & Parcel is good as well. Ketel One and St Germain cocktail that does the trick. There is a brunch that I have yet to try but in due time it will happen lol! Great spot for the coming summertime!
Stopped by here for a birthday dinner. The hostess was extremely gracious, but may have missed to tell the waiter. Nevertheless, it would have been nice to have candle or mentioning of "Happy Birthday". We very much enjoyed the bread service, bone marrow, pear salad, black forest chocolate cake and coconut tres leches. The pork loin was a bit too touch and the halibut were both misses unfortunately. I would still come again to try their trumpet mushroom dish. Their views of the Water Tower and surrounding Streeterville is simply unbeatable.
If you're looking for a special occasion breakfast, this is the place. We thought we were going just for the unique view, overlooking the water tower on Michigan Avenue. We were not expecting the breakfast food to be fantastic. The smoked salmon bagel was not just a crazy large amount of salmon, it was perfectly smoked, and the richness was balanced beautifully by the salty capers and salmon roe. Nicely dressed greens accompanying it. Not too much cream cheese on the bagel to make it overwhelming either. The breakfast sandwich was artfully assembled and super tasty with gruyere cheese. Potatoes came with it, and they were *amazing.* Service was so friendly and attentive.From the hostess to the server to the bussers, everyone was a delight. Timely coffee refills and a thoughtful offer of coffee to go. The decor was comfortable and beautiful. And the view was exactly what you hope for when you go to a place with floor to ceiling windows looking out over Michigan Avenue. Importantly, the women's restroom at NoMi may be my new favorite women's restroom in Chicago. Beautifully appointed and beautifully clean. I could have spent half the day there. I didn't, but I could have. I don't think I've ever made reservations for breakfast before. But it was a good idea, particularly in order to request a window table. NoMi is in the Hyatt, and as a hotel restaurant, it may well fill up unexpectedly. Go ahead and make reservations to save yourself any anxiety.
Love the atmosphere. Great drinks! Amazing service. We got sushi and truffle fries. Sushi was simple, fresh but had great flavors. Fries were good too and i like that they were brought out with ketchup and mayo.
honestly, the food was really good but we did wait a solid 2 hours to order. our server, jessica, barely came to our table and was not helpful at all. the service was very bad, especially for this to be an "exclusive" restaurant

The roof deck is somewhat pretty, depending on where you sit. The cocktails are terribly overpriced and not balanced. A lot of staff just standing around doing nothing. My husband's and my cocktails were both over $20 and were terribly unbalanced: mine was the "She's From Osaka" and although the menu described it as sweet, it was unbearably sugary and I ended up ordering a gin and tonic instead. My husband's Nuestra Signora was unbearably sour. They did take my drink off of our tab. This place is really only worth visiting if you're staying in the hotel. read more
Lovely rooftop patio, food, and service. We came on a Sunday afternoon and had a few bites and drinks. My Sauvignon blanc was nice and crisp for the weather. We got the futomaki roll and the haru natsu roll, which were both excellent and fresh. We also got the karage octopus, which was delicious with a light batter and thick pieces of octopus. Service was speedy and attentive too. Great place, vibes, and food! read more

I was really impressed with the food quality and service as well as the view at Nomi for a weekend brunch. Sure breakfast can run you almost $200 without alcoholic drinks but you'll certainly leave satisfied. The steak and eggs, lobster roll and ube pancakes were all excellent. So was the waiters knowledge of the menu. The green juice was also very refreshing. If you like spicy be sure to ask for the salsa, it packs the heat in a nice, balanced smoky way. As someone who generally detests pancakes I was a little ambivalent about ordering them but these are the fluffiest, most satisfying pancakes I've had in the continental us. I was a little concerned the ube would be too overbearing however that was not the case. All in all I highly recommend and if it's open check out the patio. read more
I'l start by saying I'm glad to have crossed this one off my list as it's been on my radar for a while, but this was a total miss for me. NoMI is prominently located atop the Park Hyatt building on Michigan avenue. The beautiful dining room is large, elegant and romantic, with incredible views of the city. It's a really gorgeous venue, but the venue is really the only element that stood out to me as better than just "okay". We started off very poorly. We were seated, ordered drinks, & placed our order. About 45 minutes later we finally received our first course. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but the dining room was far from capacity so this was weird. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and both chose the bone marrow for the first course. I love marrow bones and order it almost any time I see it on a menu, so I was really disappointed when mine showed up still pink. It was undercooked to the point that its texture resembled that of an oyster rather than the gelatinous butter it's meant to be. We also went off script a little and ordered a couple pieces of nigiri. This wasn't on the restaurant week menu, but I wanted to check out as much as I could that NoMI has to offer. Both the sake & the yellowtail were good quality but you can get far better for far less. Things improved slightly with the main course, for which we chose the trumpet mushrooms and the ribeye upgrade for an extra $40. We also added a side of au gratin potatoes for an extra $12. The mushrooms were a bit too salty for my taste but the polenta helped tame that a little. The ribeye was cooked to a proper medium rare, but I was really disappointed by how fatty it was. Including the Calabrian chili butter topping (an additional up charge) the steak was just a waste of $42. The potatoes, on the other hand, were topped with beautifully caramelized onions, and were delicious. We tried both of the dessert options (a coconut leches cake & a chocolate torte) and we agreed they were both just fine. But I think by this point I was so disappointed with everything else that nothing would have saved the meal. I think the highlight of the evening was our server, Michael, who was really a delight. With the side of potatoes being the only item that stood out, I left with the impression that you're paying for the location more than anything else because the food just didn't match up in quality. read more

We came here for our anniversary dinner and NoMi was excellent. Had great service and the restaurant felt relaxed and polished. All the sushi we ordered tasted super fresh and was the perfect ratio of fish vs. rice. Probably the freshest sushi we have had in Chicago in the 2 years living here. The drinks were delicious and the ambiance was amazing. Not too loud and we never felt rushed. Will definitely come back very soon. read more
Celebrated Chicago's birthday by acting like a tourist. It was snowing and we decided to stop in for a quick lunch. We didn't have any reservations, but the concierge said that would be no problem. The host & staff were very friendly. The ambiance was a chill lounge vibe. I enjoyed looking at some of the artwork near the bar. I ordered my typical "girl lunch". A Cesar salad with truffle fries & a glass of Prosecco. Everything was delicious. I saw a couple people who ordered sushi & it looked fantastic. I'll be back for that on my next adventure. read more

This is the perfect cozy hideaway! The service was top notch, and the food was unbelievable. The breakfast sandwiches, coffees, fruit and pastries were delicious. We came here for a girls brunch and we will definitely be coming back! 10/10 read more
My husband and I came here for our 26 year anniversary. It was my first time in Chicago. A local friend of ours recommended NoMi. It was a great recommendation. We were so happy with everything! Our server was wonderful! The entire staff was so friendly and on top of their game! We never waited for anything. They were immediately refilling our waters, offering more bread, removing dirty plates, replacing silverware, and offering the next course. It was perfect! The views!!! I think there's not a table in NoMi that doesn't have an amazing view. The main, large window faces the lake (East). Arriving just at 7, you get the full affect of the city, and lake, and then the sunset and lights of the buildings. It was absolutely magical. I couldn't get enough of it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean, but honestly it could have been a pit and I wouldn't have noticed. You'll be focused on the views for the entire evening. The food!!! Everything is very fresh. It's all well-prepared. Everything was delicious. There's a good variety of dishes to choose from. Plenty of healthy, low-carb options. We each ordered our own appetizers. I had the crispy Maitake mushrooms and my husband had the mussels. We both loved our food and left nothing on our plates. Excellent choices, that we highly recommend. As our main course we shared the sushi platter. The seafood was fresh and the sushi didn't have too much rice. It was the perfect amount of food with our appetizers. They have an extensive wine and drink menu. For drinks I had a glass of the Sauvignon blanc and my husband had a red blend. For dessert we weren't really hungry enough to eat anything else but my husband wanted a pallet cleanser. They have a few sorbets. My husband settled on the cherry cola sorbet. They brought it out with a little chocolate that said "Happy Anniversary" in French. They did not add it to our bill. Very sweet of them. It was probably one of the best anniversaries we've ever had. The bill was about $230 before tip. We highly recommend coming here for any special occasion. read more

My wife and I had an excellent lunch in this beautiful restaurant with one of the best views in Chicago overlooking the watertower. Very upscale feeling but affordable with prices similar to other restaurants in the area. Wine was excellent with very nice selection by the glass. Relaxed and unrushed professional, friendly service. This is a hidden gem for a relaxing lunch. What did we eat-lobster roll (excellent), crispy chicken ceasar salad, great unusual compiled dessert of gingerbread, custard and grilled pineapple. Heres the view, not bad! read more

- Hot chocolate Bar in NoMI - We have a company outing event in NoMI. It's my first time trying the hot chocolate bar! The staff will help you put in the order (you can choose dark or white chocolate or the spiked hot chocolate , with or without whipped cream). Then, you can self serve yourself and pick your chocolate toppings in the chocolate bar! I would definitely go back for my second hot chocolate bar again! Perfect date in cold winter time in Chicago and I would highly recommend this to all the chocolate lover! Hot chocolate bar - very dainty and cute chocolate bar with many chocolate candy options!! Hot chocolate - I ordered the dark chocolate with less whipped cream. The chocolate has very rich flavor! read more
We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday over brunch. We ordered from the brunch menu and the sushi menu. I ordered the salmon (lox) bagel and maki for the table; my husband ordered the chicken and waffles, and our friends ordered French toast, salmon, and ube pancakes. The pancakes were regular buttermilk pancakes with some purple sauce made from ube (purple potato) sweetened with something like condensed milk and were dressed with pineapple and coconut. My husband seemed to enjoy his chicken and waffles and the French toast was brioche-style, which made it interested. The salmon could have been better (it was browning at the edges) but the side salad was good. Service was excellent and friendly, with a good sense of humor. The ambiance was quiet and the views are very nice from the seventh floor window. We sat in the corner table with a great view of the lake and water tower. read more
I found NoMI while searching for an early Saturday brunch on my trip. Though not as high up as some lounges, the downtown city views were really nice! Another plus that the Parker hotel where it's located has it's own hotel dog, a senior pug doggo named Parker! There are a a few art pieces in the restaurant lobby as well. Their orange juice (a little more pulp next time please!) and black American coffee were right on time to rehydrate and recover from the prior evening. My usual brunch staple - their eggs Benedict- was definitely one of the best I've enjoyed. Served with Bayonne ham, fresh arugula and a pickled hollandaise with a nice bit of heat over perfectly runny eggs it had a high class taste worthy of a Sinatra song. Dessert was next - their fluffy pancakes topped with a flambeed banana. The banana had a nice crisp similar to a yummy crème brûlée but I left a lot of the pancakes. They were perfectly fluffy but I needed to stay light to walk :) My waiter was pretty attentive and on point with recommendations; the other front desk team members (and of course Parker doggo!) were just as friendly. read more
Outstanding customer service and amazing drinks and ambiance on a 100 degree Chicago evening . Jackie at the reception was very welcoming and accommodating of my requests and Sean our server for the evening really brought his Agame to the table catering to our food and drink orders and dealing with our rowdy crowd of 12 moms determined to have a great night out. The food was delicious, the sushi, salads and the various appetizers.. Will certainly come back soon. read more

So for me, this was a disappointment for restaurant week. The service wasn't that great. Had trouble getting our waiter's attention. Out of the courses served, dessert was the only one that was really good. The appetizer was okay, but not great. The entree LOOKED good, but lacked badly in the flavor department. So, even the discount of restaurant week didn't really make up for it. They tell me the view is great, but I'm afraid of heights, so didn't look. read more
The food is clean and sophisticated Service is really impeccable and very attentive. They treat you very well and with class and respect. Ambiance is good, modern, and clean. The outdoor patio is nice but no great views of anything but cool enough! read more
my boyfriend and I were looking for a nice spot to just grab drinks at before our dinner. We stumbled upon Nomi and it was such a beautiful and elegant spot to just have a quick bite. I don't exactly remember the platter we had but we did kind of have a charcuterie board starter and then we both ordered drinks. The drinks are super phenomenal and the staff is super exceptional. if you definitely want to bring a date here just for some drinks and chat I think this spot is perfect. I'm really surprised at how well they took care of us and it's a very intimate setting and some people were dressed up and some people weren't but I would say if you wanted to wow your date you guys can dress a little classy, but it doesn't have to be over the top. read more
