If I had to do it again, go get a drink and take pics on the terrace, than just go somewhere else and eat food as good or better for 2/3 of the price. Loved everything about our experience! The location is incredible- we had our lunch overlooking Millennium Park. We came here on a Friday for our 2pm reservation. We got seated outside. Our waiter was Ian, he was amazing at his job. He knew the menu extensively and describe everything well. He treated us like we were friends. The food was surprisingly delicious- we ordered the oysters, shrimp roll, and smash burgers! It was delicious. For dessert we tried the peach orchard- it was an interesting dessert, it had a lot going on. It was big, enough for two people, maybe three. It was an OK dessert, as soon as I ate I forgot about it. My daughter took me to Cindy's Rooftop for my birthday. I'm going to start with the good. The view, it's reason most people come here. But you have to go outside to the terrace/balcony, I don't believe there are any tables with a clear view. The space is open, airy and pretty. Service was great! We were greeted warmly and immediately seated for our reservation. Our waiter was awesome. He was quite busy and told he would be with us soon and apologized for the delay. No problem with us as we were not in a hurry. When I ask about his favorites, he gave a nice description and reasons why he liked certain dishes. He checked in with us throughout our meal, was so nice and wished me a happy birthday! Our water glasses were always filled and after our entree, someone came around and refolded our napkins before dessert! Nice touch rarely seen outside of very high end restaurants. And we sat quite a bit after we paid and we weren't shooed away which was great appreciated! My daughter noted we were celebrating my birthday and they brought out a free dessert. I was surprised. I can't remember what it was called, but it had a crunchy bottom, chocolate ganache, chocolate shell with hazelnuts, topped with a thick whipped cream. It was delicious! I highly recommend!! The food was a mixed bag. We started with the tuna tartare toast. It was ok. The sourdough bread was yummy! I could have eaten a basket of the bread. lol. The tuna was fresh. It had a nice kick, the pasta was perfectly cooked and I don't know if it was made in-house, but the pasta itself was very good. The whipped ricotta added a nice creaminess to the dish. Now the bad. I did not enjoy the ambiance. For the price point, the restaurant was too transient. Too many people coming in just for the view and very obviously not patrons for drinks or food. The reservation noted a dress code that was clearly not enforced. The space is open, but not huge and they also hold small events by the windows hence the lack of view from a table. They also have seating that's like a narrow bar by walls and half walls. I wouldn't want to sit there as those transient people would leave their garbage at those spaces while the diners were outside enjoying the view. It is very loud. I'll start off with the ambiance and that it's totally worth the visit just for the view alone! You take an elevator to the rooftop level of a tall building in downtown, and you get to experience a view of the lake, millennium park, and much more! You definitely want to come during a nice day and take pictures. The food was decent. I will say that I got the chilaquiles, and I was getting really tired of the flavor; it was a little salty when I got it, and the chips were so mushy at one point. The eggs benedict on the other hand was delicious! The English muffin paired so well with the ham and egg, and the potatoes were to die for! They were warm, crispy, and flavorful. I went here with my boyfriend and the atmosphere was incredible. Post-grad life has us balling on a budget, so we shared fries, mussels (SO tasty), and two cocktails. The environment is... bustling to say the least, but has an amazing, intimate feel with the right person. We were seated along a row of two-seat tables, which felt slightly awkward and cramped, but there was space to go outside, take pictures, and enjoy your beverage/the view from there! The views of the Chicago skyline are breathtaking and definitely the highlight of the restaurant. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food was very good. We ordered the signature smashburger and the cod fish sandwich, both served with crispy fries, along with gin spritzers. Everything was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. Our server was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The only disappointing part of our visit involved the host. Our server had turned our table so both of us could enjoy the skyline view through the window. Later, the host approached us and said we couldn't have the table positioned that way. We explained that our server had been the one who turned it for us, which was true. The host walked away and never returned to clarify the situation or let us know if it was acceptable after all. That interaction left us feeling confused. As a same-sex couple sitting close together, we couldn't help but wonder if that influenced the interaction, although we have no way of knowing. A brief explanation or follow-up from the host would have gone a long way toward making us feel more comfortable. One thing I've learned turning almost 60... I'm traveling for the views, the food, and the memories--not to fight a crowd for a spot at the railing! (If you are young, dress up, enjoy the view, the music, the vibe (as one gentleman around 26 told me, so sweet), and the crowd. Cindy's, on the rooftop of the Chicago Athletic Association, is absolutely worth the visit. The sweeping views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan are beautiful, and the food was every bit as impressive as the scenery.   Since we're vegetarians, we enjoyed some delicious meat-free dishes, including crispy arancini, a rich and flavorful rigatoni, and a chocolate dessert (The Rocker, I will say the baked Alaska did look amazing), that disappeared much faster than I'd like to admit. We paired it all with two refreshing mocktails (N/A Spritz $16.00 a non-alcoholic hugo, aperol or pathfinder spritz; bitter - citrusy - crisp and a KEVIN!! $18 seedlip garden 108, strawberry puree, lime, elderflower soda). The best surprise? Our mocktails were complimentary because our room couldn't be upgraded, and our credit card package included a beverage credit. We also had a $100 hotel dining credit to use during our stay. It's a good reminder to investigate travel credit cards--they can add some nice perks, especially if you pay the balance off every month. My biggest tip: make a reservation. The wait can get pretty long. We were lucky and only waited a few minutes. Could you grab a drink and stand outside? Sure. But honestly... that's a younger person's game! I'll happily trade standing shoulder-to-shoulder in a crowd for a comfortable table, great service, and a view I can enjoy. Age has taught me that comfort is underrated. Our server was friendly, attentive, and somehow always seemed to appear at exactly the right moment without hovering. If you're visiting Chicago, put Cindy's on your list. Be patient if you're walking in, order something you've never tried before, enjoy one of their creative drinks (with or without alcohol), and take a few minutes to soak in one of the best rooftop views in the city. We picked Cindy's rooftop at the Chicago Athletic Association on the 13th floor for stunning skyline views which was the perfect spot to just unwind from the busy day. Though we couldn't see much of Lake Michigan, we knew it was just right there. We enjoyed the fresh Caesar salad, creamy Rigatoni alla Vodka, and warm bread with herbed butter. , and an espresso martini and a glass of prosecco. They had booked a space next to my table/the balcony for a networking event so it was very loud the whole time. There were people walking around socializing right next to my table and towards the end of my meal, a couple was waiting for a table while basically sitting on my table's couch seat. I don't know what they were doing there as they weren't part of the networking event and my table was far inside the restaurant away from the entry/bar. We visited Chicago and we looked forward to every single meal we made reservations for, and both me and my husband agreed Cindy's rooftop is the top among all the restaurants we visited. We went on the memorial weekend, and we didn't know we are getting the brunch intead of the lunch menu. We were so gonna get that fish and chips equivalent, so it took us some time to finally decided on the meal choice. My husband got the breakfast with chicken sausages, while I got the burger. Their burger is great with two thin patties. The veggies and pickles with it is delicious. The bun is pretty good. The fries was decent. His breakfast is so much better than mine though! I tried everything on his plate and it was good! After we finished our meal, we also took some nice pictures at the balcony which you can see all the way to the Field Museum area on a nice weather day. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Grant Park area. We actually visited the cloud gate, fountain, The cultural center, Target/5 below, comic stores, route 66 sign, Chicago stock exchange arch, and the art institution all in that trip. Very convenient! Their reservation opens 2 weeks before. If we ever go back to Chicago, we will definitely visit them again. Hopefully I will complete my Invisalign treatment and can actual eat more food! I am new to having to avoid dairy and soy (my baby is allergic and we are breastfeeding) and I turned to my husband and said this was the best meal I have had in the past 3 months since navigating these new allergies. My friend and I were in Chicago recently and stayed at the Chicago Athletic Association. Our reservation was made using The Hotel Collection, and it came with a credit, which we used in part for a late night snack and drinks at Cindy's Rooftop. While I wasn't a big fan of the taste of my drink and dessert, my friend enjoyed both of theirs. Rather, the service was excellent and the views were amazing. My friend ordered The Rocher for dessert, which includes hazelnut cake, mascarpone chantilly, and smoked maldon salt. I ordered a Baked Alaska, consisting of citrus cake, lemon cream, toasted meringue, and salted white chocolate crunch. We both also ordered cocktails. I cannot recall the name of the drinks. I asked for my drink to be fruity and sweet, but it wasn't enough of either for me. The Baked Alaska was fine but too much of various flavors. I wouldn't fault the restaurant for the drink or dessert taste as I know others really enjoyed theirs. Our server was most attentive and very helpful. We found that making a reservation on Open Table only offered a certain number of time slots, and all of them involved having dinner and not just drinks or a dessert. Reservations can also be made on their website though we chose to speak to the front desk about a reservation. Going up to the bar is first come, first serve though. We ended up making an Open Table reservation and were told it was okay to only order drinks and desserts. Cindy's is named in honor of Marian "Cindy" Pritzker, a beloved Chicago philanthropist. Egregious misconduct by a management employee in response to an incident caused by their staff is the sole reason for this rating. While our server and the general manager handled the situation perfectly, having a goon that is sent out to attempt to intimidate diners is entirely inappropriate. He was called a manager but seemed to be some kind of shadow security or bouncer. Who knew? The ambiance is jist what yoi would expect for a delightful dinner in Chicago. You can walkoit pn the rooftop and experience beautiful views of highrise buildings, Lake Michigan, and the famous bean. The menu is extremely to limited, although the waitress noted that the oysters are a favorite among customers. I had the Rigatoni Alla Vockda which includes a lemon ricotta, it was a nice flavor however the rigatoni was more than aldenti. I also had charred brocolini. It was very hard to chew, and while the fried onions and sauce op top were good, the texture was not and its likely my fault i didnt realize charr meant the flavor would taste like a burnt cigarette. In that area, bartenders are quick to acknowledge and engage. This is something that I appreciate quite a bit. Helps with settling folks down and getting a drink in their hand. Since we had a sitting spot at the bar, we decided to order a few dishes which tasted amazing. Scallops was my favorite. Make a reservation! We went on a Friday morning at 11:30 AM and it wasnt busy at all until about 12:30 PM. Super relaxing atmosphere and comfy seats. We had the smash burger and grilled chicken sandwich. Both were to die for but the grilled chicken sandwich especially impressed us. Truffle fries were a must, of course. Their mimosas (cranberry and pineapple) were really good too, just stronger than you might think! Andy was our server and was very attentive and kind. Cindy's Rooftop is THE place to be in Chicago. It's located above the 13th floor of the Chicago Athletic Association hotel under a stunning glass atrium. I came at opening time thinking I could grab a table without a reservation but it was already packed. The draw here is that you get a beautiful view of Millennium Park if you have one of the few tables outside. You can also just grab a drink at the bar and stand outside. I ended up leaving but was able to book a lunch reservation for a Thursday a few days later. Reservations typically seem to be booked up far in advance. My mom and I returned and requested to be seated under the atrium in the main room when they tried to seat us in the side room and they obliged. We both ordered the Lobster & Prawn Raviolo. Keep in mind that a raviolo is one large filled pasta, which our server kindly reminded us of upon ordering so that we wouldn't be surprised.
