The ambiance is jist what yoi would expect for a delightful dinner in Chicago. You can walkoit pn the rooftop and experience beautiful views of highrise buildings, Lake Michigan, and the famous bean. The menu is extremely to limited, although the waitress noted that the oysters are a favorite among customers. I had the Rigatoni Alla Vockda which includes a lemon ricotta, it was a nice flavor however the rigatoni was more than aldenti. I also had charred brocolini. It was very hard to chew, and while the fried onions and sauce op top were good, the texture was not and its likely my fault i didnt realize charr meant the flavor would taste like a burnt cigarette. We didnt try dessert.
IF YOURE IN TOWN PLEASE DONT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE! Beautiful views, sensational service, and the food was phenomenal. You can taste the quality immediately. It was a little hard to find if you're not reading, but its inside a hotel property (next to Acanto) and its on the top floor, just ask whoever's at the desk to point you in the direction of the elevator! Make a reservation! We went on a Friday morning at 11:30 AM and it wasnt busy at all until about 12:30 PM. Super relaxing atmosphere and comfy seats. We had the smash burger and grilled chicken sandwich. Both were to die for but the grilled chicken sandwich especially impressed us. Truffle fries were a must, of course. Their mimosas (cranberry and pineapple) were really good too, just stronger than you might think! Andy was our server and was very attentive and kind. We also got to talk to Ennis (i hope that's how you spell it) and he treated us like old friends and gave us a really nice conversation and even recommendations on what to do in town! The outdoor balcony was really impressive, too, with views to the bean, the lake, and the art Institute. You can even take your drinks out there after you order food and still have your table. We heard the grilled cheese is great so we'll be coming back for that next time!
This was a fun experience! It was a gloomy cold day in Chicago, but you didn't feel it being on the roof at Cindy's. I got the duck pot pie and loved it! It was the perfect rainy meal. My date got the pasta and added chicken I believe. He loved it! We walked outside with our coats to look at the view. I would definitely recommend for a date night if possible or that perfect sunset evening view.
First time coming to Chicago with my friend (who lives here) and she got us a reservation at Cindy's Rooftop for lunch! Cindy's is located in the downtown Chicago area atop the Chicago Athletic Association. The view from the restaurant is stunning and gives guests a really lovely view of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. The terrace is open year-round and is a wonderful spot to get pictures and take in the view! The interior is cozy and welcoming, with vibrant, modern touches. I loved that there was a glass atrium, really added to the ambiance and was unique. This is definitely a popular spot and I would recommend getting a reservation via OpenTable to ensure you get a spot. The service was excellent and very accommodating. All the servers do a great job of topping off guests waters and ensuring they have a good experience. Their lunch menu isn't huge but has something for everyone. They offer a couple starters, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. We opted to not get a starter. For my entree, I ordered the Lamb Shawarma Bowl with a side of fries and my friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The food arrived within 15-20 minutes of ordering, which seemed appropriate. I enjoyed getting to take a moment to enjoy the restaurant and chit chat with my friend as we waited. My Lamb Shawarma Bowl was beautiful and a large portion. The bowl included basmati rice, tabouli, feta, tomato, pickled red onion, hummus, and pita. I really appreciated that there were minimal amounts of rice as it let the other components shine. The tabouli, tomatoes, and cucumbers were really fresh and paired excellently with the smoky lamb. The hummus was super smooth and I loved the olive oil in the center--very tasty! The pita it was served with was warm and great to dip into the bowl too. My side of fries was also great. They were some of the better fries I've had to be honest. Nice and crispy on the outside, not overly greasy, and salted just right! I would recommend anything we ordered, it was all very impressive. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience at Cindy's! The food was phenomenal, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is the best. All the food was full of flavor and were elevated versions of "traditional" lunch dishes in my opinion. The service especially was quite impressive. My friend received her sandwich with aioli after requesting to have it removed when ordering. When the food came out, her sandwich had the aioli on it. Our server sent it back immediately and without hesitation he got it removed from our bill. We don't request for it, but went out of the way to make up for the small error. This was unexpected but appreciated! If you are in the area, I would highly recommend Cindy's. The food, the views, the service--all of it is wonderful!
Came here on Christmas Eve with my sister and had the best time! I love it here, the inside is stunning and I love that you can bring your drink outside to look at the stunning view and take pictures! Service was great! Everything was brought out very timely! I got a Bloody Mary to drink which was perfection! We split the oysters and chilaquiles. I always say the oysters at Cindy's are some of the best! I love them so much! The chilaquiles blew me away. These were outstanding. So much flavor!
Cindy's Rooftop restaurant has unbeatable views of Millenium Park. The restaurant is located on the rooftop of the beautiful historic Chicago Athletic Club. Even on a cloudy day the natural light pours into the large bustling dining room. The restaurant has an elegant feel; however, has a large bar for those just wanting to meet up for cocktails and to enjoy the people watching and city views. The service was great, we didn't feel rushed and our server knew both the food and drink menu well and was helpful. Entrée portions were on the small side, but were all delicious. Cindy's would be a great place to take out of towners for cocktails, a good light meal and views of Millenium Park!
Cindy's Rooftop is one of those spots that instantly delivers a cool, energetic vibe. Located on the 13th floor of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel--perfect for a special night out. My husband and I stopped in before a concert, and from the start, the experience felt elevated--literally. There's an elevator operator and a check-in desk on the first floor, so reservations are a must if you want to avoid a long wait. We went in the evening, so we missed out on the full views of Lake Michigan and Millennium Park since it was dark. I can only imagine how stunning it is during the day. NOTE: the tables are fairly close together, which makes it a bit tough to have a private conversation. We shared the charcuterie board, which was more than enough for two--perfect since we didn't want to overdo it before a night of dancing. Overall, it was a great pre-event spot, and I'd absolutely go back--next time for brunch or lunch to really soak in the views and get the full Cindy's experience. If you're driving, I highly recommend using the SpotHero app to make parking easy and stress-free.
This place has an awesome view! When weather permits, outside seating is quite nice. Since we visited here without reservations, it was first come first serve at the bar. In that area, bartenders are quick to acknowledge and engage. This is something that I appreciate quite a bit. Helps with settling folks down and getting a drink in their hand. Since we had a sitting spot at the bar, we decided to order a few dishes which tasted amazing. Scallops was my favorite. Truffle fries had a unique sauce that had me visiting it frequently like an ice cream shop on a hot day. Overall, it was a fun experience with our bar tender with great food and service. Can't wait to visit again when weather is nice again.
Super beautiful rooftop restaurant and bar. We came here before a bears game for brunch and we were seated right away even though we didn't have a reservation. The views are amazing of millennium park and the lake, and they had fire pits going as well outside on the deck. My husband and I got the pumpkin monkey bread to share. For entrees I got the chilaquiles which were incredibly filling and a little spicy. My husband got the shrimp and grits which were hearty and rich in flavor. Definitely recommend coming here for the food! Service was friendly but a little slow. It took them quite some time to bring our appetizer out. And our waiter forgot some items on our receipt which I had to remind him about.
would come here just for the views. very clean space love the lighting of the room just feels very open and airy. we came around 2:30 so we missed lunch and they only had bar snacks which was totally fine with us because we mostly wanted drinks and to see the view. the food was really good tho the fries were tasty and the sauce with it was delicious. we each had two sliders and enjoyed them and felt satisfied after eating them. drinks are pricey at 20$ each but i think you're paying for the scenery. plus our drinks were tasty so it was worth it. we were sat down and placed our orders then went out to take some pictures and by the time we were back our food was out! so really fun, was skeptical of this place because i thought it was just a place for views and didn't expect much of the food but now i wish we could have went during lunch or dinner.
The food at Cindy's Rooftop is unparalleled, although it is on the pricier end. The food is gorgeous, the ambience is wonderful, the service is strong. Best to come here in the summer so you can enjoy the patio. I wouldn't consider this a budget-frinedly outing but if you're willing to splurge on an amazing meal, come to Cindy's. They book up fast, especially in the summer, so make sure to reserve your spot as soon as you know you want to go.

Each bite was sooo good. I usually don't like the bread that comes with the Benedict's but these were actually so tastyyy. And the potatoes were delicious. The French toast weren't too heavy and not too sweet which is perfect. The view at the top is beautiful too read more
Had a beautiful dinner here with my best friend while visiting Chicago. We got the torchio pasta and the streak frites. Both great choices in my opinion. The pasta was cooked with a brown butter sauce which I've never had before so it was definitely a great first experience. The flavors blended well together with the peppers & rapini. We got our steak frites medium rare just how we liked it! We ended our dinner with getting more cocktails while overlooking the beautiful view of Millenium Park. read more

OMG! We dined at Cindy's Rooftop for a team dinner. I was impressed from the moment I walked off the elevator to the time I left. The service was excellent. The hostess, server, and food runners were all very nice. The location was very industrial and just plain cool. Have me loft living in a big city. The rooftop deck is the show stopper. The views are night left me loving Chicago. I would absolutely for sure come back here next time I'm in town. read more

Had a lovely birthday dinner here. The rooftop boasts stunning views of Millennium Park. The food was surprisingly exceptional. They had an exquisite handmade lamb bolognese gnocchi as a special. It was decadent and each bite was heavenly. The Burrata appetizer ($21) and Short Rib ($46) were also outstanding - the short rib portion was enormous - definitely split this! To top off the meal was a delicious, rich pot de crème with a "Happy Birthday" chocolate piece and a candle. The interior is elegant and the staff are attentive and courteous. read more

First night we went we had only wanted to get dessert and the hostess's were being pretty rude about it and said we could order to go at the bar but when we walked inside to try to order I had made a mention of it to a man working inside and he got us a table for dessert no problem. The dessert and drinks were really good and we had gone the next mornin for brunch and those pancakes were soooo good! Carrot cake pancakes. The view from our table was also very nice. Cindy's Rooftop is a great place to visit while you're in Chicago- it offers panoramic views of the city and overlooks millennium park. Definitely worth visiting for brunch, lunch, or dinner and drinks. The only downside was that the drinks didn't really taste like there was alcohol in them. Other than that would definitely recommend visiting. read more
For the number of times I have been here, I have no idea why I have not written a review for this joint. The Doctor and I have been here multiple times and simply love the view. Full disclosure, I have never been here at night as I do not want to do with the crowds. We usually try to come here when we know we can get a table on the balcony and watch the view of the city, which is amazing. In full disclosure, the food is not what gets me into Cindy's. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and I love it. But if I never eat there, I would still love coming here to have drinks, chat with The Doctor and take in that view of the city. The wine list is solid for sure when it comes to sparkling. I don't do reds or still wines for the most part, so I can't speak to those, But the sparkling and champagnes on the menu are very good. Prices are decent for what is being served downtown. Cocktails (per The Queen) were delish, but be warned that they are about $18 each. My recommendation is to get a reservation on a nice day, get drinks and have a good time chatting and chat that view. read more

Atmosphere is amazing, the place is very open with lots of natural sunlight. The patio has a good amount of space with a gorgeous view of the city and lake. We came here just for drinks. They have a large selection of wines, beers, and cocktails. The price is what you expect for this type of bar/restaurants. We got 4 glasses of wine total and the bill was 100 dollars with tip. Service was kind. Nothing too special. Long wait to actually get up to the bar. Overall, it is worth to visit this spot to get a drink and show friends who are visiting from out of town. read more

It can get very busy, however you can still walk in without reservation. Bar seating is on a first come, first serve. You can order your drinks at the bar and take it with outside and enjoy the view. We stopped at Cindy's rooftop for a late night dessert and drink. The best part of the experience was going outside to the outdoor area and look over Chicago at night. On a beautiful summer night, this was a spectacular experience. The booth and chair we sat in were very worn out and not very comfortable. The service was good and we ordered the pecan chocolate cake dessert. Dessert was actually pretty good and large enough for two to split. read more
This place is stunning, with modern, large glass windows that open up to a fantastic view of Chicago! A lot of Yelpers say that the wait is worth it due to the view and vibes. Luckily for my friend and me, we sat down right away and arrived when they just opened. Fifteen minutes go by, and this place is popping and filling up just as expected. I recommend coming for the views and getting drinks at their outside bar because their food was just okay for us. My buddy enjoyed his Korean Fried Sandwich, but the fries and Chef's Salad could have been better. I got the job done, but I can tell they are not known for their food. The service here is unbeatable, though, and was probably the best service I've had at a restaurant for all of 2024. One gulp of my water, and the waiter was on his way to fill it up. The food was pretty decent, but def paying $$$$ for the view and ambiance. The fries here are my ideal fries- not oily at all, but still crispy and crunchy! Same went for burger- not oily at all and did not feel bad after. The lamb shawarma bowl was also surprisingly filling and no complaints about flavor. Portions are decent size. We were able to walk in on a Thursday afternoon, albeit seated on the silver area and not the actual tables but no complaints! We were also hotel guests and that did not help with anything from our experience. Recommend reservations if you want to get seated asap. Fun touristy spot and great view read more

Came to Chicago for my birthday trip! Literally writing this as I leave the table! Michelle our waitress was wonderful! scallops 8/10 Truffle fries- 9.3/10 the black garlic aioli honestly makes it a 10. We each got one of the seasonal drinks! Very good! Very potent!! The vibe of this place is also very good!! You can do a date night or like a girls night out! Def recommend! Pretty pricey, worth it read more
First time at Cindy's and the view from the roof is great. Very very busy, so if you're looking to enjoy lunch I would book a week or two in advance! I got lucky since I was dining alone and got a last minute reservation. If I would've known you could just go to the rooftop and have a drink without sitting for lunch I would've definitely done that, the food was super pricey, I'd say you're paying for popularity. read more

Cindy's Rooftop is that effortlessly cool friend who's gorgeous, funny, and somehow makes a curried shrimp dish taste like a religious experience. The salmon tartare? Silky, bright, borderline smug with how perfect it is. Toss in panoramic views and this might be one of the best spots in the city. We visited Cindy's Rooftop for the stunning views of Millennium Park and, of course, the famous Bean! Although we couldn't get reservations, we were seated quickly as walk-ins on a Saturday. Initially, we were placed at the counter, but once a table opened up, we were able to move. Many guests come for the drinks and the scenery. I was hoping for a bigger food menu on the weekend, but it was limited to brunch options only. We ordered the Beau Soleil oysters, classic breakfast, Aphra-Cadabra, and Pink Panthers. The dishes were nicely presented, though the portion sizes felt a bit small given the price. We enjoyed our experience, but the brunch cost was on the higher side - about $150 for two people. The atmosphere can be quite noisy as well. Nevertheless, the rooftop location is gorgeous, making it a wonderful spot for dining. I recommend securing a reservation! read more
This place was recommended to us and overall, it was great. Upon arrival to the bldg, enter and take the 3 elevator to the R level, that's the restaurant level. Check in. Reservation is recommended. Restaurant's ambience cannot be beat. High ceiling with glass roof as if you're sitting in an atrium. At dinner you can see the sunset while enjoying your cocktail and meal. Bar is impressive. Although decent amount of chairs, it was completely filled up. You can work onto their outdoor patio and be wow by the view of the water, the Bean, the park all in front of you. The gal that checked us in seems as if she's done for the day. She just looks exhausted. Our waiter was ok as well, seems like he's ready for closing time, although it's about another 2 hours. Thank goodness the food was amazing!!! Menu was not big but the items we ordered did not disappoint. It made the night. The view was re 2nd. We went here for drinks and their Parmesan truffle fries were phenomenal. I tried a CBD mocktail for the first time and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend for casual drinks, rooftop photos, and good service. read more

Came for lunch with a friend and we ordered a smash burger and a monte cristo. The smash burger was good- the caramelized onions were a nice touch. The monte cristo's bread was a little soggy for my taste, but the sweet and savory flavors worked together well. The space was open, light, and airy, with lots of natural light from the big windows and glass ceiling. The patio has a view of the Bean and the Chicago skyline, which was nice to experience after we finished our meal. Our server was very kind and despite seeming a little frazzled because he presumably was serving many tables, he always made sure we were accommodated. read more

I am a local and was staying at the hotel for a staycation. I made a reservation 2 months in advance for a Saturday brunch. I feel you are paying for the view, but that's why you eat at a rooftop bar overlooking Michigan Ave. The Service is good, food was delicious, portions ok sized. I would go back, but probably for the drinks. Drinks tasted great and were strong. The balcony is open for pictures even in the winter. See if you can spot the original Andy Warhol read more

This was a magical experience with amazing views! It's one of the first things we did when we got to Chicago, so it was hard for anything else to rival this experience on the trip. We stayed for the sunset and although you might not see the sun go down the soft glow over the bean and the water is breathtaking. We didn't have a reservation so we added our name to the list which could've taken up to 90 minutes, but by the time we ordered a drink and looked at the view, we had a text and was seated. The food was delicious, pricey, and limited for those who don't have extended pallets, like my companion. So we just split a couple of things on the menu and planned to go out after for more extensive Tastes of Chicago. We stopped in after visiting The Bean. The restaurant is sleek and stylish, with gorgeous views overlooking Lake Michigan and Millennium Park. What we ordered: * Deviled Truffle Eggs - Absolutely divine. Silky, buttery eggs with just the right hint of earthy truffle. A must-try. * Lobster Roll - Lightly dressed and tasty, with a buttery bun that hit the spot. I completely get why this place is on everyone's list. The view is unmatched and the vibe is amazing. The restaurant itself is so cute and I can see it being great year around. Our waiter and the others were zipping around and catering to the constant flow of people. The patio does get crowded but was never overly so. I'm glad we got a table though even if we just got one round and a snack. Espresso martinis are plentiful despite not officially being on the menu. It was a top 3 contender of my many for the weekend visit. The pulled pork sandwich we split was a bit small to split but was delicious! I kinda wish me and my husband each had our own since we were so hungry. Would love to return on another trip! read more

Cindy's faces east so no sunset...it is a pretty view all day long. Patio may be more pleasant in the evening on a warm day...
Do they accept walking?
They do! But come early - even if you get there before they open and go up the first elevator, you might have to wait at the bar. I've walked in twice during opening and been seated within 15 minutes.
Good place for dinner conversation? Or, super loud and you need to yell to be heard?
It is loud in the dining room, you can talk to the person next to you but have to talk loud or yell to heard on the other side of the table.
Are kids allowed?
I'd imagine so, but after 8:30 PM / 9 PM it might not be a "fit"...
What is the Attire. Can you come casual?
Yep, you can absolutely come casual. Not a formal place.

I went about a week and a half ago and though it says you can't online, while I was there, they were allowing people to just show up and get a drink if there was space available.

Yes for viewing purposes only. You get like 15 min to look at the views.

Can't really say. I had the pleasure of dining only with other adults so didn't have to look for a grilled cheese or chicken nuggets. Although there were a surprising number of families with small children in attendance
What time is happy hour?
There isn't a happy hour, per se, but they do have a 'limited menu' from like 2:00-4:00 (or maybe 2:30-4:00) and it is just a couple of items/shareables. Even without a sunset view, it is well worth an afternoon visit, the lake view is amazing!
Yelpers! What would you recommend for solo diners?
There's a bar / countertop where a lot of people sit and hang out. Looked like a ton of fun. I almost got up from my table to go sit at the bar.
You have to pay $65 to get in?
Honestly though you can easily spend $65 when you leave there.
Do you have to have a reservation for brunch?
Yes, unless the popularity has fallen way off. I made a reservation three months out last summer.
