I think I'll be dreaming of this cheesecake and scallops for a very long time. I was in town for work and had asked a local for some recommendations, of the 4 I picked this one, and boy was it the right choice! I was fortunate enough to come with 2 other people so I got try a lot and they all were great. I would recommend everything we had and definitely don't sleep on the sangria!

Lil -ba-ba-reeba was good. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates, the pulpo à la plancha, and croquets which were delicious. The papas bravas were overly seasoned. Biggest disappointment was that there wasn't paella on the menu like the other location. The service was a bit slow, more of a European style where you called the waiter over. The ambiance laid back and super Spanish cave ascetic.

Always a hit. One of my favorite repeat restaurants! Such a cute and cozy ambiance whether you're inside under the various shaped lights or in the heated veranda. All the tapas here are excellent. The bacon wrapped dates are my all time favorite. They do really cool promotions and events. I go to their New Year's Pajama Brunch, and I always leave smiling with my gift cards I received for however much I spent that meal. Service is always fast and attentive. By far the best Lettuce Entertain You restaurant in my opinion!

This review is long overdue, this place seriously is My Favorite!!!. We often take the train just to sit at the bar with Courtney, Leila, Slam, and Ryan, the service is impeccable!!!! Nobody makes a better old-fashioned or a bourbon espresso martini than these guys. It is not just the bar. It is the whole entire restaurant. Madeline is our favorite waitress who is just so sweet and bubbly and goes above and beyond. We love the management so much James is so wonderful and truly make this all possible! Olga so flipping amazing & delightful in EVERY WAY! Salvo is kind and always ready to make your experience, memorable and Lucas, is so hard-working and truly makes every visit so special. The chefs could not work harder to put together a brilliant and delicious menu that never fails. This place really does take teamwork seriously and this team is incredible. I know that I have missed so many people's names.

One of the best happy hours in River North. The food is all incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We took advantage of their $6 glasses of wine but their sangria is on my must try list.

It was a nice day out so my Husband and I came here for Happy Hour. We were fortunate to get an outdoor table on a Friday night. It was a nice change from the indoor tables and bar, which we also liked due to the cozy but somewhat dark vibe. Though we came for the happy hour specials, other than the drinks, we ordered from the main menu. There were only 3 food options on the happy hour menu, and potato chips for $5. The deal was really on the alcohol for happy hour, with $5 sangrias. But since this is a tapas restaurant, most of the appetizer portion items on the regular menu is the same pricing as other restaurants for happy hour. We ordered the chorizo wrap dates and sangrias from the happy hour menu. From the main menu, we ordered Empanadas, blue tuna special, chorizo and chicken skewers, as well as the grilled octopus. All the food was very good. For $5, the sangrias were a deal. The Sangria of the day was passion fruit and was fantastic. The Cava sangria was terrible. I couldn't drink it, so I sent it back. Since it was only $5, I wasn't too upset but DONT order. It tasted medicinal. For more than 20 years, I have gone to this restaurant and the original Cafe Baba Reeba on Halstead, and this was the first time I have ever sent sangria back. But All in all, was a very nice night. Will came back again.

I admit it, I made a song up for the catchy name of this yummy restaurant. I'm tone deaf though so I won't leave an audio file to spare you all. Lil Ba-Ba-Reeba is a cute restaurant with outdoor, veranda and indoor seating. As a weather wimp, I enjoyed the AC indoors on a warm Chicago day. The portions are perfect for sharing and I love tapas style, we get to try more things. What was on the list last night: 1) shaved brussel sprout salad. Needed some greens and this crispy salad had a nice flavor. 2) bikini press iberico chorizo sandwiches. This was the heaviest of everything we ordered and was full of flavor. Chef's kiss to whoever decided to drizzle the honey on these bad boys. 3) bacon wrapped dates. Anytime we have tapas I need to order some type of date. The bacon wrapped version was sweet and savory. Delish. 4) chorizo and chicken skewer. This was my favorite of everything we ordered. The chorizo is some of the best I have had. 5) yummy cucumber beverage to help was it all down. If you like tapas, you will enjoy this joint. Fresh and yummy and some good beverage options!

I have been to the Lincoln Park location (Café Ba-Ba-Reeba) many times, I'm so glad I finally made it to this spot! The service here was incredible, and the ambiance was elegant yet relaxed. When they say "Lil", they mean it. It's significantly smaller than their other location and not suitable for large groups but worth the visit nonetheless. Their food never misses! Get the Chorizo Wrapped Dates, and don't miss their dessert menu--key word(s): Butterscotch Custard.

My first time here. A group of us stopped for dinner before the Lady Gaga show. I've been to their bigger location, Ba-Ba-Reeba, before. The food was amazing, just like how I remembered. Surprisingly, my fav dish was the tortilla. The outside had a slight crisp and was delicious. We ordered several different tapas and drinks. They have amazing cocktails and so many options. A cute tapas spot!

TLDR: Lil Ba-Ba, Big Love. Honestly, we had an excellent tapas experience here! We came here on a lovely breezy evening and sat outside as firetrucks from the nearby CFD 42 wee-ooo-ed by nonstop lol. We started with some Gazpacho to cool us down, then some Catalan-style "Crystal" Bread, which is literally just tomato puree with garlic and manchego on bread, but it's so damn tasty! The Roasted Hen of the Woods Mushroom has even more manchego in creamy sauce form and, I gotta say, that may be the best way to eat manchego! I had to try really hard not to order more bread for the leftover sauce, so I opted to just pour it into my purse for later. We, of course, got some Jamon, because you can't come to a tapas bar and not get Jamon! (Or that's what I said to my bf, and he totally bought it.) The Lamb Brocheta, their skewered lamb, was SO GOOD. It was unadulterated lamb. I did NOT want to share, but I shared because my therapist says I need to work on that in a relationship. He's lucky I like him. For dessert, we had the Jamon Croquetas, and they were so light and crispy that they almost didn't feel deep-fried! Throughout the meal, we were savoring our Sangria, which was so refreshing and not too sweet. It was definitely one of the more well-balanced Sangrias around town! We WILL be back without a doubt!

Service and classic red sangria were great. Food was just okay for me, my favorite is the Chorizo-wrapped dates pintxos. I've read a lot of good reviews about the seared sea scallops but it was underwhelming, the sauce was bland. Most disappointed with their house specialty, beef tenderloin toro, even with the horseradish mojo it was nothing special. Ordered the churos hoping that the dessert would help but it did not. The place is small but it didn't feel too cramp.

The food here is the bomb. It tastes super authentic and it is in a really nice area of the city. The ambiance is also great, we sat in their patio but the indoor area was super nice. Our waitress was super nice and the service was super quick. I highly recommend to check out this and their main location!

The menu features a variety of Spanish tapas, pintxos, small plates, and Paella. You are meant to order plates to share with table. Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba really prides themselves in serving authentic Spanish food and providing guests with a unique experience. The restaurant itself is very cute and has a fun vibe about it. There are plenty of seating options and a gorgeous bar as well. Service was wonderful! Our server did an excellent job checking in on us, refilling waters, and just making sure we were satisfied with everything. We did get a reservation via OpenTable, this is always necessary, but I would recommend doing this, especially on the weekends. We ordered a couple plates to start and the ended up ordering more throughout our meal. I really love that you can do this, it paces the food and allows you to enjoy the experience more. We put in orders for 2 of the goat cheese baked in tomato sauce, a patatas bravas, Spanish olives, and Spanish meatballs (Al Jerez). The food came out in a timely manner and was served made to order. We dove right in! The goat cheese was luscious and perfect on that cold afternoon. It's baked in their old world Spanish oven and served with house garlic bread. This dish was super creamy, with a nice tang from the tomatoes, and just phenomenal. The patatas bravas were just divine! The spicy potato's were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and yet soft on the inside. They paired perfectly with sun-dried tomato aioli they were served with as well. The Spanish Meatball were decent as well. They had great texture and I really enjoyed the sherry tomato sauce they were served in. For our next round, we had to order more patatas bravas because they were just that good! We also got some calamari and extra bread for the remaining baked goat cheese. The fried calamari comes with tomato crudo and a jalapeño aioli. It was nice and crispy, nothing too special but still hit the spot nonetheless. Overall, I was so happy my friends and I came here! The food was amazing all around, no complaints at all. The service was great as well. They are very accommodating and do a great job taking care of guests. Loved the interior of the restaurant, it was super cozy! I will definitely have to return next time I'm in the area to try more tapas. Highly recommend!

Parking is sort of a pain, you have to find street parking, might have to pay, or you can use their $20 vallet parking. V made me drive, and I misjudged how far we'd have to walk. Not a good start. We arrived at 8:20pm on a Sunday, while they close at 9pm, they serve until 9pm, and the place doesn't clear out until 10pm, so we were good. We were greeted and seated quickly in a fairly crowded dining room. My aging eyes found the menu difficult to read with small print on yellowish paper, so I used the light on my phone. It's not pretty, but neither is ordering food when you can't see what it is LOL. Our waiter greeted us promptly, and took our drink order, and offered up a specials menu. As I'm driving, I just got iced tea, V ordered a pitcher of passion fruit Sangria. He said the Sangria wasn't great, I tried some, and I thought is was drinkable. It definitely has a kick as V got a bit giddy as the night progressed. V ordered the Seafood Paella (takes 45 minutes), so as a starter, we ordered the Fried Calamari, which was sadly overcooked. It was half crumbs, though the sauce was tasty. With time to kill, we followed that with Lamb Brouccetta (no seasoning, just lamb), on a bed of French Fries (star of the night), grilled potatoes (yummy dipping sauce), and grilled peppers, which were quite tasty and unique. The Seafood Paella arrived, and it was massive. Food for two and then some. We didn't need all the appetizers except for killing time, so we ended up with a lot of Paella to go. I don't like Paella; it always tastes fishy, although this Paella was at least edible, unlike what I had in Barcelona. The waiter was attentive and had a spark of personality. Vigilio thought the bar area where we were seated was loud, but I didn't have any issues talking.

This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant. we got really lucky and was able to get a reservation same day. this place had a really nice vibe…read moreto it, it was really loud but love the open kitchen concept. the servers attention was a 10/10 it felt like a really good team. our water cups never got below half full and they clear plates and replace silverware like a high end restaurant. we started off with the salmon poke which we were skeptical of because of the price but omg we were blown away by the flavors. didn't think chili crunch and strawberry and salmon went together but it all tasted so good like a harmony in your mouth. the quality of salmon was good too. the goat empanadas were really tasty too, was a good dish nothing to stand out about them. it didn't really taste like goat which is good to me. and the pork shank was a huge portion. we were worried with the first two dishes we didn't order enough for two people but it was such a big portion it was the perfect amount of food for two people. we loved the different sides and sauces that came with it. the meat by itself was good but when you combine it with the greens pickled onion the sauce the pita it was soooo good. everything just worked really well together. we left the plate with no crumbs. really good meal. no complaints :)

Background on me- I've worked in the food industry at low and high levels, eaten in many countries…read more Started from the bottom type of person- anyway I don't leave reviews. My experience went exactly like this. Imagine going to a movie, one of the better movies you've ever seen. You paid a premium to see this film ahead of time. 30 min in they begin to fast forward, skip scenes, turn the lights on and begin clean up. What I mean is on my engagement night, after a long long day I took my foodie wife to be out for a $300 "experience" which is really just sitting in front of the dessert station next to the expo area. So the food was ok- for all the knowledge ZERO cuts of quality meat. A little goat on a stick and a little tuna poke- the rest veggies which whatever is fine I'm just saying. I spent another $75 on drinks. OpenTable allowed me to book this at 1030pm the restaurant closes at 11pm I was upset and management would not come over and say hi or comp a drink. What restaurant would you be able to call and book a 6 course dinner experience 30min before close? Because it's an app you can hide behind the fact I should be looking at when you close to not book it? Managers profited $300 off me can't comp a drink on our engagement? I had a lovely time, the food wasn't bad, some interesting, service was ok, chefs stoners waiting to get off work. I get it. It's probably worth it but do not hit the last time or they act like you are keeping them late- which we did. I'd never book an experience 30min before close if I put it together. A cheap way for an app and restaurant to squeeze hard earned money out of peoples pockets is what I saw. Cheers
