Service was attentive enough - not overbearing while not feeling ignored. We started with the salmon crudo, octopus, and baby beets to share. The first two were amazing. I'm not big on beets in general, so I could have done without the third appetizer, but they enjoyed it. My entree was the spaghetti à la chitarra. It was good. Brunch was really really bad, on every level. Service was abysmal--starting with the hostess who could not be bothered, waitress was never to be seen once the food was dropped. Bus boy was asked for a knife (multiple times) to cut through the Benedict English muffin, because the regular knives were not usable. Cappuccino served with no sugar and no tea spoons. Beautiful scenery inside and out, at 6:45 in the evening on a Friday the restaurant was relatively quiet. There is a great assortment of choices when it comes to basically everything; appetizers, drinks, and mains. We ordered the cheesy monkey bread for the table which was great paired with the special butter. For 6 people we spent about $340, that included 6 mains, 1 app, and 8 drinks. They gave us a complimentary dessert for my friends birthday! The food was quick and the waitress was fun and attentive. The Singapore sling drink almost tastes reminiscent of a spicy Paloma, it has a little bit of earthy heat taste to it. It's not sweet but it is a good drink and you can't really taste the gin in it. The build your own bowl with the quinoa and salmon was great, it came out steaming hot and it was well paired with the green goddess dressing. This was a fun spot to have a get together. I'm extremely disappointed with this experience. My mom flew in specifically so we could do afternoon tea together for Mother's Day, and we were really looking forward to it. We even received a confirmation email the day before saying our reservation was set. When we arrived, we were told they weren't doing afternoon tea at all. No prior notice, no explanation that made sense--just a flat "we're not doing it." It completely ruined what was supposed to be a special day. What made it worse is that there was zero effort to make it right. No accommodation, no alternative offered, not even an apology that felt genuine. I wonder if this was for just this holiday week/weekend or all weekends since I've only previously been for happy hour. Even though the coffee was cold on almost every refill, the avocado toast more than made up for it. Between the Texas toast used, plenty of avocado or the toasted coconut which took it up a notch, this was perhaps one of the best Avocado toasts I've had. As for the food, it was just okay--nothing particularly memorable. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the vegan vanilla ice cream, which was a nice highlight. Came here with a group of friends for bottomless brunch. There was a live DJ inside during brunch. He was playing chill, light house music throughout our meal. The music wasn't very loud or noticeable, we honestly forgot the DJ was there a little while after we were all seated and chatting. The interior of Fora is stunning! There was so much natural light pouring in through large windows. In front of the restaurant, there is also a lovely patio with small fire pits throughout. The restaurant was pretty empty while we were there which added to the chill, laid-back environment. Everyone at my table ordered the bottomless brunch package, which comes with an entree and bottomless mimosas for $40. For anyone not participating in bottomless, it's also an option to order a starter & entree for $25 instead. Both of which are excellent deals! I ordered a veggie burger and loved it. They have a house-made veggie patty instead of the usual impossible or beyond burgers, which I appreciated. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito without meat, this was a bit more bland than we would've liked. Not bad but nothing special either. The lobby area is massive and we didn't make a reservation on a Tuesday so there was plenty of space. The drinks were awesome obviously. The meat was slightly dry but overall tasty. The guac was smooth and well seasoned, and the chips were great. I ordered the steak frites. The ribeye was cooked exactly like I wanted, and at 14 oz, I had enough left over for the next day. The fries were also good and well seasoned. The dish also comes with bordelaise sauce, and it was one of the better ones I've had. My friend ordered the roast chicken, which was cooked and seasoned well. The Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes were excellent as well. We each ordered the Empress and I ordered the Written Word. Both were good and the Written Word was strong. We came to Fora before our movie at the Rooftop Cinema above. Overall, delicious meal! Monkey bread: 4.5/5 Such a surprising and delicious combo of cilantro lime butter with the warm, cheesy bread. Burrata: 4.5/5 A great cheese with toast and a delicious salad mix of peppery arugula with creamy pesto and an acidic lemony flavor. The best part was the crunchy fresh pear and pistachios. Paired excellently with the cheese. Flatbread: 3.5/5 Classic flatbread. Cheesy, meaty, good crust. Was a great size to split between two people after three appetizers. Yummy, but no surprises or risks taken here! For drinks, we tried two: The espresso martini was strong and tasty, but did have quite a bit of loose grinds in it. It did not stop me from downing the whole drink, though... The New York sour was sweet and absolutely delightful. Definitely one that I would reorder. Beautifully presented, as well. The food was great, the service was great, and I really enjoyed my time here overall. However, we sat on the patio for a 7:30 pm reservation and it quickly turned into gnat-central. The patio is very pretty and has many light fixtures. It also has some fire pits, but those were not lit. Came here with friends last weekend. I was surprised to be able to get a reservation so easily given the neighborhood. Strange how these things work. It was pretty dead when we arrived. We had a bunch of appetizers. Brussel sprout salad was kind of ok. Not too flavorful. Brussel sprouts can be kinda bitter and they didn't have enough flavor to country balance that. I did like the monkey bread. Decent bread. Lastly, the burrata was ok. For dinner I shared a veggie burger. It was good. It was a custom made veggie burger instead of impossible or beyond, which I enjoyed. More places need a custom burger. Fries were fine. In also shaded a veggie flatbread, though it wasn't that great. I really wanted to like Fora!! I was so excited that I actually booked brunch here for my birthday two weekends ago, a table for four at 11:30am. When we walked in we were a little confused, there's no signage and it looked like a dead-zone. We entered near the hotel lobby and kind of stood there awkwardly until we went up to the bar and asked where we can check in. He gestured to the other side of the room. We walked to the other side of the restaurant to the host stand to check in. There was only two other tables in the whole restaurant.. and it was prime Saturday brunch time, middle of the summer in the West Loop. We asked if we could sit outside (I mentioned we preferred outside seating in the reservation), and we were told we can't 'because the seats are wet'. It rained overnight.. but at this point it's 11:30am, sun has been out for hours.. but no one wiped down the seats? At that point I would have offered to wipe down the table myself if it meant we could enjoy the patio. They weren't going to give us the option to sit outside, so we got a booth in the silent dining room. Our waiter....... was interesting. After our first interaction with him- my parents, my friend and I all look at each other dumbfounded wondering if we all caught the same thing. We started laughing because it was so awkward... he's just looking at us silently like he's hungover and mad, or maybe still feeling funky from the night before? Not sure.. but the entire interaction with him from start to finish was pretty painful. Even though there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant (and an empty bar..), we had to flag him over almost every time. For food- we ordered the Yogurt Parfait to share which honestly was so good. It had fruit, and pumpkin seed granola.. I thought it was outstanding. To eat I ordered the Avocado Toast and a side of bacon, which I also thought was pretty good. We also got the bottle of champagne with juices- but as I'm looking at the menu now it seems like they now offer Bottomless Mimosas? We would have ordered that if we knew it was an option. On top of all this it was my birthday brunch- which realistically could have been spent anywhere. Waiter did not acknowledge it, and it felt like a waste of a Saturday morning. I was looking for some sun, good food, and a good time. Instead we got silence, indoors while the weather was perfect, and a waiter who was mentally somewhere else. Why have a nice patio when you won't let anyone sit on it if it rained 5 hours before you even open? If a restaurant has a nice patio and wants to attract guests... you should probably have a system for wiping it down or covering them? Seemed like a waste and I imagine that's why we were one of the only patrons in the restaurant during a prime time. Lovely brunch spot in the Fulton Market neighborhood of Chicago! I ordered the Benedict, which had perfectly poached eggs sitting atop wilted greens, a slab of pork belly pibil, and English muffins. I really liked this slightly elevated take on this classic brunch dish, as the greens added some healthiness to the dish and the pork belly was very tasty - not too fatty but also very tender. There was also some delicious hollandaise sauce on top of the Benedicts. There were some greens on the side as well. I think $18 is a reasonable price for this. I also got an horchata to drink. It was very tasty and actually tasted just like the milk from the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. My one slight complaint though is that it was $7 for a very small portion (not only was the glass very narrow but it was literally half filled with ice). In addition, I got a side of fruit for $4. This included pineapple, raspberries, blackberries, cantaloupe, and honeydew - a nice mix of fresh quality fruits. My favorite part of this restaurant is actually the environment. It is really the definition of a lovely brunch spot with beautiful, clean, modern decor. There is a ton of natural light coming through the floor-to-ceiling windows, plus there is a really nice outdoor patio dining area as well. The decor tastefully combines elements of nature / plants with a beach resort kind of vibe. There is some upbeat yet chill music playing at a moderate volume. It was not too busy when I went, so there are plenty of open tables available even on the weekend. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service speed is quick. Overall, I was actually really close to giving Fora 5 stars, but ultimately decided to stick with 4 (would give 4.5 if I could).
