A nice dinner at RPM Seafood - I was there with my son and another college age friend - I did feel a bit of a side eye with two teenagers - but the waiter came around to make us feel welcome! The Parker bread service was delicious! 5/5 - warm herb covered! Yum! The hamachi was good - 4/5 but not amazing My halibut was 5/5! Filet 5/5 and steak frites 5/5! Cocktails were good and wine decently priced! It's a swanky vibe, but service was super attentive!

I'm a big fan of RPM Steak and this might be my first time at RPM seafood. We came here for the restaurant week lunch menu. The portion was decent, but the taste was a bit disappointing. For starters, we both tried tuna crispy rice. The rice was not crispy at all but sticky. So sticky that many pieces got stuck on the tooth and was very unpleasant. The crispy fish taco was not crispy either. The flavor was very bland. I was expecting grilled fish with crispy fish skin, but it was fried fish fingers. I should have read the description more carefully as it is made with Halibut, so fish fingers made more sense. Grilled Branzino was amazing! The best dish on the table for sure. We were given half of a fish and the skin was crispy. Meat was more on the dryer side, but tender. We finished off with dark Chocolate Gelato, which was good - the right amount of sweetness compared to the seasonal sorbet (apple).

Had brunch there party of four restrooms are very clean. The vibe of this place reminds me of like a waterfront restaurant in Florida. It just gives this whole chill upscale vibe. The servers were very attentive and knowledgeable and friendly. I had the lunch prefix menu and it was a salad then Branzino we also ordered a side of the mac & cheese, which all of it was so so good. They also had a seasonal sorbet for the third course and that was apple cider and it was divine. I also had a dirty martini to drink, and that was delicious as well. I definitely will come back, especially when the weather warms up because they have an outside patio and you're right on the river so I know the vibes will be amazing.

Love the vibes here. We got to sit outside next to the river and it was beautiful. The food was good and presentation was nice. The service was friendly.

Missing Russell's 15 which was advertised

I wanted to love RPM's Rare Whiskey Event, but overall it fell short of expectations--especially for a $300+ ticket. The organization was a mess. Long lines, confusing flow, and a lot of waiting around. Buffalo Trace easily had the best selection of the night, but most of the other distilleries were pouring everyday shelf bottles you can find at any local liquor store. Nothing about that felt "rare." What really hurt the experience was the bait-and-switch. Several pours that were advertised never showed up, including Four Roses 135th Anniversary, Russell's Reserve 15 Year, and Mister Sam. For a premium-priced event, I expected the headliner bottles to actually be available. The retail shop was another disappointment. Full secondary pricing on Pappy and BTAC, and the Buffalo Trace store pick was listed at $200 for what's essentially a $45 bottle at best. That was laughable. For the price, this event just didn't deliver. Plenty of whiskey bars and events in Chicago are doing rare pours and premium tastings far better and with way less chaos. This one's an easy skip unless major changes are made next year.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner at RPM Seafood, and what a perfect choice it was! Located right off the Riverwalk in downtown Chicago, the restaurant already feels special the moment you walk up -- and for a holiday like Thanksgiving, reservations are absolutely a must. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted warmly by the hostess. Walking to our table felt like strolling through a winter wonderland -- the place was decked out in Christmas ornaments, sparkling trimmings, and little festive knickknacks everywhere. Honestly, straight out of a Hallmark Christmas card! You'll see the lively bar first, and then discover there's a second floor for larger parties, which is super convenient. Our party of seven fit perfectly in a cozy booth with plenty of space. RPM's Thanksgiving feast was served buffet-style, and we definitely came hungry. We started with warm Parker House rolls and French butter -- simple but perfect. For appetizers, they brought shrimp cocktail, oysters, a harvest salad, and mini crab cakes... which I absolutely loved. On the entrée buffet line, they had slices of juicy turkey breast, flavorful turkey legs, tender beef tenderloin, and roasted salmon that literally melted in my mouth. For sides, they had all the classics: traditional stuffing, fluffy whipped potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, roasted broccolini, and the must-have green bean casserole. And then came my favorite part: dessert. They offered tasting-size portions so you could try everything without feeling too guilty... which I appreciated! There was pecan pie, 14k chocolate cake, lemon meringue, caramel apple pie, chocolate panna cotta -- pure decadence on every plate. Service was impeccable from start to finish. Thank you to the entire RPM staff for spending your holiday with us and making our Thanksgiving feel warm, delicious, and truly memorable.

The food was nice portions and good. We celebrated my wife's birthday and she thoroughly enjoyed it, the ambiance was nice with music in the background. Really like that it overlooks the Chicago Riverwalk. Our waitress was amazing, definitely a must of you in the area. I do recommend you make reservations and know it is $$$$.

I was excited to try this spot out as it had decent reviews regarding the seafood; however, that was quickly dashed by the hostesses! Upon entering and walking up to the hostess stand, I was completely ignored by a brown haired guy as he was answering calls - 2 phones calls, a scroll through his phone, - and nothing - whilst his brown haired female coworker chatted with other workers. I eventually had to greet myself to them after waiting for 3 mins! After speaking with the manager, I was told the hostess stand was busy that evening due to cancellations (from the rain) and people looking for a table. Still no way to ruin someone's PAYING experience that actually showed up in the rain without a single apology from their hostesses. They definitely set the tone and it was awful! The evening from there was mediocre and I was ready to go from the moment I sat down. The service was extremely slow but the waiter I had was nice especially after finding out what happened upon my arrival. I ordered the octopus appetizer and found it to be a little too salty for my taste. For my meal, I ordered the salmon and mushrooms as the side. The salmon came cooked medium and mushrooms sautéed. This meal was very basic and there were bones left in the fish. The waiter did bring out a strawberry sorbet as a finisher and this was probably the highlight food wise. Overall, I wouldn't come back.. ever. Terrible terrible hostesses, slow service, and underwhelming food. My only thank you is to the waiter who tried to make better a ruined dinner experience.

Came to RPM Seafood for a lunch sponsored by JP Morgan and had a fantastic experience. The food was served family style, and while everything was solid -- the chicken, corn, and pasta -- the standout was hands-down the miso black cod. I couldn't get enough of it. Perfectly cooked, buttery, and full of flavor. Dessert was also a highlight: the combo of strawberry sorbet and dark chocolate cake was chef's kiss -- refreshing and rich in all the right ways. To top it all off, the views are gorgeous -- right by the river with floor-to-ceiling windows. A perfect setting for a polished, upscale lunch.

The restaurant is nicely situated on the northside of the river with of nice view from its windows. If you don't know how to cook seafood, but love to eat, it then this is your place. You want to splurge and impress your significant other? Then, bring them here for some impressive hunks of pristine seafood. As I looked around, I think just about everyone had a seafood tower. When in Rome do as the Romans! I had the petite tower, a chopped salad, Greek potatoes, and the Parker House rolls. If you are a seafood lover, then, what's there not to love about the food. For many years I have heard about the delicious rolls from Parker House in Boston. I have read many food articles about these rolls that many absolutely love. Me, I was not overly impressed. Let me explain, I am huge on very good bread in all forms. I have had very good bread in many places of the world. I have very good memories of the moments I would bite into the bread and be overcome with joy because the bread was soo good. I have great memories of growing up in a house where there was dough rising in bowels in the kitchen of my childhood all of the time. There is nothing like the smell of freshly made bread! Trying the Parker House rolls for the first time was not one of those moments. I mean, they were by no means bad. I just was not moved by them. Were my expectations too high? No, because I'm only being honest. As for the food, I do cook at home, therefore, I could have cooked most of this meal myself. But I do understand that most people do not know how to handle or cook seafood. So, for those not in the know, then yes, I do recommend this restaurant.

Wowowow this place is so lively!!! I came on a Friday for happy hour at 4:30 and it was poppin inside - super busy and energetic! Although it was busy, we were able to find seats at the bar pretty quickly. The espresso martinis were great and I loved our sushi roll too. Besides the menu, this RPM is different from the other because it's super bright, summery and has an overall fun, upbeat energy to it. I loved the atmosphere and can't wait to go back and try more menu items!

This will be the second RPM I have been to and it did not disappoint. From the service, to the views, to the food, all top notch. We randomly stumbled upon RPM Seafood because we were in the area and know they have a nice happy hour. We love a good happy hour. So we ordered the Burger with Fries and Oysters. All of it was high quality and something I would definitely order again (and recommend to anyone). Now let's talk views... spectacular. It's hard not to people watch the entire time and watching the boats go by, so awesome and an experience you can't find many places. Perfect summer time vibes too. For this amount of food, we spent around $70 for two people. Thank you RPM Seafood, we will see you soon! Personal Review: 8.9/10

    Clara K.

Our experience at RPM Seafood in Chicago was truly outstanding! I was so sad that we didn't have a reservation and that we had to sit at the bar. The Shrimp cocktails and Grilled octopus were both exceptional--rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The setting is just as impressive, with breathtaking city views!!! This place is a controlled chaos with full of great energy. If you are looking for a laid back relaxing dinner, this isn't your spot. Highly recommend for a special occasion or an unforgettable night out with a view!

My dad's 70th bday is coming up so we took him for dinner here last night to celebrate and my brother even drove in from Michigan to surprise him for the occasion. I think half the appeal was that my brother also wasn't missing a stellar meal at Joe's. We had 6:15pm reservations for our party of 6 and were seated by 6:30pm. Michael was our waiter who had been at Joe's for only about 7 months, but definitely knew his stuff. I'm a stone crab girl and can't imagine getting anything but that at Joe's. My dad followed in my lead. The rest of the family went the steak or other route. No matter what anyone got (steak, shrimp pasta, crab cake, etc) everyone agreed it was a near perfect meal. And of course all the appetizers (cesar salad, oysters) and sides (mashed potatoes, creamed spinach) were pretty tasty too. 2 of my kids ordered off the kids menu, which I thought was a pretty good deal for $20. My 13 year old was worried the 4 oz steak wouldn't be enough for him, but between all the sides and appetizers (and ice cream sundae that came with it) he had plenty to eat. And of course you can't go to Joe's without a slice of key lime pie. Dinner for 6 at Joe's is $$$, but if you're going to spend that type of money on one meal at least you know you'll have a good one here. On the way out my son let me know that this is his favorite restaurant in Chicago and I think I have to agree.

My favorites were the crab cake, Cobb salad, and short rib. The crab cake was very soft and had a nice texture to it. It was one of the best crab cakes I've eaten. The Cobb salad was also very light and shareable. The short rib main course was very tender, and it came with crispy potatoes as well. Some of the other items such as the Philly cheesesteak and Asian tacos were just ok. They were also both very small in quantity relative to their price. The desserts were magnificent as well, especially the deconstructed key lime pie and sticky toffee pudding. Both of them were phenomenal. The service throughout my meal was excellent. We really admire Jose's philanthropic work and want to love his restaurants but truth be told, if you forget about the glitzy decor, the food is just average. We tried several appetizers; the Hamachi Cone, Caviar Cone, Asian Taco, Neptune's Pillows, Shrimp Cocktail and Iberico Jamon. We also shared a bottle of Cava. Everything was fine but to be frank the Shrimp Cocktail was the best thing we ate, simple and perfectly fresh. The service was pushy, when a server wants to take you order less than 3 minutes after sitting down, it feels like you're on a conveyor belt. We felt the prices were way out of line, with tip I spent almost $500 for a bottle of cava and appetizers for two people, for that, the food should have been more memorable. We spent the same amount for two off us to have the 12 course tasting menu at Atsumeru a couple of weeks ago and Bar Mar's food isn't in the same league. We will continue to financially support Jose's World Kitchen but not his restaurants.

From the moment we checked in with the lead Hostess, Nordon, she was sooo sweet and accommodating! I absolutely LOVE the bar area, there has been a piano man playing the last three times I've gone (not sure if he's there every night, but I have seen him there on Thursdays and Fridays! I've sat at the bar a couple times and I had the pleasure of having Greg serve us and he's 1. A great bartender 2. The nicest and most fun to be served by! The food... yummy... I have NEVER been interested in trying frog legs, but so many people posted and it is called Hugo's FROG bar... so I decided to be adventurous, let me say.. did NOT disappoint. That sauce it is in is heavenly... it has gone from appetizer option to my straight up entree option ... I like to get a side of fries... thin and crispy, delicious to dip in the frog leg sauce! My sister RAVED about the crab cakes and carrot cake and YUMMMM! I don't like crab cake or Rockefeller oysters and everything was delicious. Hands down, best I've had! The drinks are well made and strong! I will be back for sure! A lot!

We're talking half-price wine by the bottle--yes, the full bottle--and half-price oysters that are incredibly fresh. But the real move is the "4-5-6" menu: you can grab any of these four items for just five bucks until 6:00 PM. I'm obsessed with the Filet Slider and that Baked Goat Cheese with the toast points, but if you're hungry, the Hugo's Burger is a double smash patty that comes with a brew included. Whether you're doing a five-dollar beer or splitting a half-price bottle of rosé with the girls, this is easily the best value in the neighborhood for a sophisticated 30-something crowd. Everything ordered was given its proper time to enjoy. Started off with the small portion of the sourdough bread. Fresh and hot! Next was the mixed greens and apple salad. Simple, fresh lite dressing and crispy. This was also shared. Next was the short rib stroganoff, the short rib was very tender, perfectly cooked. Great flavor. Finished the dinner with 6 oz filet mignon. Medium, cooked perfectly , tender meat. Highly recommend. Along with the brussel sprouts and the sweet potatoes. Both had great flavors and are easy shareable. The thick cut bacon was mouthwatering . The desserts were good. The chocolate pie and the crème brûlée. If you were to skip on dessert you wouldn't be missing out. The cocktails were delicious. I recommend the bees knees and the Lillet Rosé.

Ok here's my review for Bavette's Bar & Boeuf on Kinzie, 9.2 out of 10, i had to take off a few…read morepoints for the 3 month reservation hassel, lol. I''ll start with the great atmosphere, dark, intimate, and lively with French flair as soon as you walk in the doors, very relaxing vibe & comforting place. Our reservation was for the outfldoor patio, however the temperature dropped drastically 15-20 degrees by the time we arrived so sitting outside wasn't going to fly. I immediately asked them to put us on the first come first serve list while we found a spot on a couch to wait & had a glass of wine. The waiter in charge of the waiting area passed us a few times before bringing us drink & food menus, so if we wanted to order apps while waiting we could have, I liked that. We only waited maybe 30 min then we're brought to the downstairs bar for seating, which we loved, we like a bar spot, more casual even if in an upscale joint, lol. Our bartender was great, she was engaging, informative, quick wit, on point with the drinks & food recommendations. Ok let's start with appetizers, I heard that the Fried Chicken here was too die for & the trick is to order it as an appetizer, so that's what I did & it comes with a side of cipollini gravy while Jen got the crab cake. The fried chicken was outstanding, crunchy, moist, tender, seasoned perfectly then dipped in the cipollini gravy took it to a whole-nother level. The Crab cake was more crab than cake, so flavorful & did not need anything to make it better, "this is the best crab cake ive ever had" came out of Jen's mouth after just 1 taste. Jen had the 10 oz Ribeye while I had the double cut Berkshire pork chop & let me tell you these two entrees food not disappoint. The steak was slightly charred & seasoned perfectly, giving you that delicious marbled flavor that let's the flavor of the steak knock you out with every bite. The pork chop..... the frikken pork chop was out of this world, fork tender, juicy, succulent, seasoned just right, cutting it was like a hot knife through butter & the pork melted in your mouth. This meal / food hit all the high notes of a top notch establishment. The chef, the waiter, the bartender, the damn hostess, we're all ON POINT, making the entire evening great. The upstairs bar is open for anyone without a reservation, but the downstairs bar is not & the staff stuck to their policy & turned away 20 different couples that tried to sit at the bar without a hostess seating them. I liked that they did that, making my 3 month wait justified & not anyone can just walk in & pop a squat downstairs. Go to Bavettes at least once & tell me if you agree or disagree with my review.
