I'm sad to update my review to a lower rating. I used to love it here, but we came in on a Sunday and had a tough experience. We were seated at a high top table inside even though there was clearly ample seating outside (which was what we asked for). We were right next to the register and where the staff was grabbing drink orders so we were constantly bumped into. Service took forever even just to get a drink order in it took 30 minutes. Then we waited another 30 min for them to arrive. We were so frustrated with the lack of service that we stopped ordering and got the check. Otherwise food and drinks are great as always - just really disappointed in the service now.

Daniel was amazing. Thank you for your service tonight. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. They were served with a yuzu lemon granita. So good The crab cake is also a MUST. 95% crab meat. Well flavored. Amazing. I also ordered hamachi, lobster fried rice, salmon, and sweet corn that has old bay on it. I rarely order salmon out, but this was really good.

RPM Seafood has one of the best locations in the city - right on the river with a huge patio. They have happy hour on weekdays until 5:30 but note that you do have to sit inside in the bar area for it. I think it's still worth it as the whole restaurant feels light and open. They have a happy hour menu with many of the same things as their regular menu but with different portion sizes but still, reallllly good deals and totally worth it! The tuna and crispy rice was some of the best I had ever had. It only comes with three servings so I got a few orders. I really like the salad + fries combo on their happy hour menu, and the shrimp ceviche was actually a pretty big portion. This is an absolute must for Chicago summer happy hours!

RPM took great care of us this day! We celebrated a birthday and they were so accommodating. I loved the Steak Frites! It was very smoky and well seasoned. I loved the fries and house made sauce. I also had a lemon drop that was quite tasty as well!

We celebrated my wife's birthday at RPM seafood in a sunny day. The view to the river is amazing, if you are lucky to have an outside table during summer. Servers were all very friendly, but restaurant was really busy, so it took a time for us to get any attention when we got to the table - nothing bad, tho. Food was extremely tasty, and very well cooked. We loved everything we had that night. Amazing experience. They also have a special birthday menu and offered a small cake to celebrate.

RPM Seafood was a stellar experience! I very much enjoyed the mushrooms, brown butter halibut and peanut butter pie with cappuccino.

RPM Seqfood is a great spot to go to for an upscale dining experience in Chicago. Featuring a great view of the river I highly recommend taking advantage of their patio if you can. A very spacious indoor dining area as well. You will get great service while there and the food was delicious. You have many different seafood options to choose from. From cod, oysters, crab cakes, king crab, and shrimp. You can't go wrong dining here it is a special place to go to make a memorable meeting.

I have been to RPM Steak and Italian, so it was time to come to Seafood. I love all the RPM restaurants, but this one is definitely my favorite! The food was some of the best I have ever had! My favorite was the octopus. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious. Our waiter was super friendly and made sure my partner was having a good time since we were celebrating his birthday. They even customized our menu which was really cool. The interior made me feel like I was at a beach and not a big city, so that was very nice. We will definitely be coming back to check out their happy hour!

Excellent upscale seafood spot with a wonderful river view. We went for lunch, at which time smart casual dress was a reasonable choice. Service is top-notch and everything we tried was delicious. The sea bass was lightly fried and well presented.

I'm a big fan of RPM Steak and this might be my first time at RPM seafood. We came here for the restaurant week lunch menu. The portion was decent, but the taste was a bit disappointing. For starters, we both tried tuna crispy rice. The rice was not crispy at all but sticky. So sticky that many pieces got stuck on the tooth and was very unpleasant. The crispy fish taco was not crispy either. The flavor was very bland. I was expecting grilled fish with crispy fish skin, but it was fried fish fingers. I should have read the description more carefully as it is made with Halibut, so fish fingers made more sense. Grilled Branzino was amazing! The best dish on the table for sure. We were given half of a fish and the skin was crispy. Meat was more on the dryer side, but tender. We finished off with dark Chocolate Gelato, which was good - the right amount of sweetness compared to the seasonal sorbet (apple).

Beautiful restaurant with a nice ambience. We came on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. I had their tropical spritz mocktails, which were tasty and pretty. Then my friend and I shared the lobster fried rice, crab cake, and brussel sprouts. We very much enjoyed the brussel sprouts. They had a smoky flavor and a good amount of char, giving them more flavor. The crab cake was my fave, had a creamy texture in the middle and crispy outer. It came with a horseradish sauce that was really tasty and not overpowering. The rice was just ok to me. The service was also just ok, nothing to write home about. The bartender was attentive, made the drinks well, but he wasn't the most friendly or welcoming. Nice place for a date or to meet up with friends. Will be returning.

I sat at the bar tonight on my second visit. It's more than difficult to ever flag someone down for a drink or to take your order. That said, once I did order, food came out crazy fast. I got a side of the RPM chopped salad and the halibut. Aside from finding out after the fact that the salad had tomatoes I didn't know to hold, the food was wonderful. Great salad and fantastic fish. It's not an inexpensive dinner, but it's a tasty dinner. This gives me faith in coming back next time I'm in town.

A nice dinner at RPM Seafood - I was there with my son and another college age friend - I did feel a bit of a side eye with two teenagers - but the waiter came around to make us feel welcome! The Parker bread service was delicious! 5/5 - warm herb covered! Yum! The hamachi was good - 4/5 but not amazing My halibut was 5/5! Filet 5/5 and steak frites 5/5! Cocktails were good and wine decently priced! It's a swanky vibe, but service was super attentive!

Love me some sushi, so I was excited to try the California roll, although it was hard to justify it being $18!!! The crab was very minimal, as you can tell by the pictures... it was missing the classic California roll taste given barely any meat. The Mac and cheese side was good. Nothing too special. plus. But standard is the best word I can think of. Shareable portion, which is a plus. Service was excellent. The server was friendly and personable. Ambiance is great, it's an elevated crab house aesthetic. There is a dress code to enter. Overall, I can't say we had the experience of the price we paid. It opened as a…read morepartnership between Miami Beach's iconic Joe's Stone Crab and Lettuce Entertain You, bringing South Florida to Grand and Rush. I first went when it was still a huge, buzzy Chicago spot, and one of my most memorable dinners came after my high school graduation in 2003. I even got a speeding ticket on Lake Shore Drive with my grandmother in the back seat on the way to dinner, which still makes me laugh. Chicago was an especially fun place for Joe's to arrive. Open outcry trading was still a force, and the wealth creation around it was wild: people who had dropped out of high school could become millionaires in their twenties, while math PhDs from the University of Chicago could make fortunes in the same ecosystem. It was a golden era for hustle culture, when commerce idolized Tony Montana in a way that today is more likely to idolize Jamie Dimon or David Solomon. Death Row and Bad Boy ruled the airwaves, while Michael, Shaq, Kobe, and Allen Iverson defined the NBA. Basketball was so dominant in Chicago culture during my coming of age that I still map other things, including restaurants, to NBA teams. Joe's felt like the Miami Heat coming to Chicago in much the same way Smith & Wollensky represented the New York Knicks: each brought a recognizable piece of its hometown culture into another major city. Joe's brought real South Florida sizzle to Chicago, and it landed at exactly the right moment. Going there felt like an occasion. Florida took longer for me to understand in full. My family has roots in the state going back decades, farther north along the Atlantic coast, and I didn't visit Miami until March 2007, when my sister started graduate school in Coral Gables. That trip began my love affair with Miami and helped me understand why the original Joe's was such an institution. A close family friend's father spent time around Miami in the 1960s and 1970s. He knew local fishermen who caught stone crabs, which gave me an appreciation for the older South Florida culture around the food, separate from Joe's own history. Another Joe's memory captures an entirely different moment. Looking through my OpenTable history, my July 31, 2008 reservation at Joe's in Chicago is the earliest reservation I can find at a restaurant that is still open today. I was 23, working at UBS, preparing to move to New York while the firm was already on fire from its mortgage losses, and Lehman would file for bankruptcy just weeks later. I was broke but wildly aspirational, dreaming about dinners at Balthazar, begging my way past the doors at Cain and Tenjune, hoping to drink for free, and trying to meet women comically far out of my league. Through all of those memories, the restaurant itself has been remarkably consistent. The stone crab claws are incredible, the seafood is excellent, and Joe's holds its own among Chicago's serious steakhouses. The room has traditionally felt a little more formal than Miami, with bow ties, polished service, and a darker old-school steakhouse rhythm, while still being genuinely welcoming. Finish with the key lime pie. Years later, my wife and I held our wedding reception at RPM Seafood, another Lettuce restaurant, then ate at the original Joe's during our honeymoon in Miami during COVID days later, which felt like a fitting circle back. In sheer range of venues, repeatability of quality and atmosphere, and consistency of hits, Lettuce is the gold standard in Chicago, with some of that same reach in Vegas and DC. I've been extraordinarily privileged in my exposure to hospitality, and I still repeatedly admire Rich Melman's model, taste, and execution, now carried forward by the next generation of the family. Joe's is a prime example: world-class, durable, unmistakably Chicago, and absolutely somewhere I want to return next time I'm in town with some dough to spend. While Joe's may not be French, this place still earns my highest marks: très bien!

Our server was quick to approach our table, even though hubs had wandered over to the bar to order. After I summoned him back, we ordered a couple of Stellas, a Filet Slider and Baked Goat Cheese; each item was $5 on the HH menu. A few minutes later, Hubs waved over our server again to order 4 oysters, which were BOGO during HH. Upon her suggestion, he chose the smaller East Coast oysters. He told me they were really good and he was happy with his choice. I had two good bites of the filet slider & was delighted at how delicious it was. The piece of meat was quite large, especially for $5! Thick & juicy, it was cooked perfectly medium rare. The slider was plated with lots of crispy string fries that were very tasty. Our other app, the baked goat cheese, was served atop a skillet of tomato sauce with four pieces of toasted bread. This was also a delicious plate. Service was very on-point, and we never felt rushed, even after Happy Hour ended. At some point, the pianist arrived & we enjoyed a rousing selection of yacht rock tunes as we finished our beers. My favorite piece of ambiance was the steampunk-powered ceiling fans, even though they probably did very little to circulate the air. The decor was vintage travel, which I loved!
