I've never been a fan of the seafood boil dining thing, just too messy for me, but I must admit I enjoyed my visit and the food was really good. My daughter asked to come here so we came downtown on a Friday around 7:30pm and it was pretty crowded, but by it only being two of us our wait time was less than 10 minutes. Once seated you scan the QR code to look over the menu and once decided you go to one counter to place your food order and the bar to place your drink order, they then bring your food to the table and our food came pretty quick after ordering. Bib on, gloves on, time to dig in... My daughter ordered the bag with shrimp, crab legs, corn and potatoes and I ordered lobster tails, corn and potatoes and two lemonades (lemonades were delicious!) We ordered our food with the everythang sauce (which is a mix of all their sauces) and it was really good and really flavorful. Messy is to be expected but surprisingly the food mess was manageable and did not take away from my dining experience. The amount of crab legs in my bag to me did not justify $32 and if it wasn't for the potatoes and two corns I'm sure I would of still been hungry. Seafood boils are not a cheap experience neither, our meals with the two lemonades and no alcohol was $110, so definitely not an every weekend dining option, but leaving I did see on their info board that their shrimp, crab bags are $28 Monday - Thursday and they look to have a pretty good happy hour so this might be a reason for a quicker return. The ambiance is nice inside and gets busy a little after happy hour. I would say their happy hour deal is such a good deal and if you wanted to you can share with other people. Loved that they have spice levels like hot to extra spicy. The jalepeno corn bread was really good and flavorful. The mango lemonade is also good but wished it was a little colder. I'm not a fan of the boil bag concept, but I brought my son here. I ordered a side of fish nuggets; nothing special at all. Not even seasoned. I also ordered the garlic noodles. All garlic: no salt or other flavor. My son's bag was just ok. He ordered the "hot" heat level and it wasn't hot at all. He didn't like that none of the combo bags included what he wanted, so he had to add on a lot for additional money. The service was decent. The girl behind the bar was nice and kept checking in on us. The place wasn't overly loud, which I appreciated. There was a nice buzz, and the music was at a level that still made conversation possible without screaming from the top of our lungs. The decor was cute and unique. I loved the open space. I've been to this location once before, but it's been a while, so I was happy to finally be back. I like that it's half traditional restaurant half self serve. You have to wait to be seated, but you go up to order yourself and then they bring the food to you and cut the bag. You have to grab your own gloves and to-go boxes. They sat me before my friend got there, which was nice, and the staff were all very friendly. The servers check in on you frequently. But the best part is obviously the food. I love that they gave me a tool to open the crab legs easier and a bucket to throw the shells in. The corn and potatoes are delicious and the everything sauce is truly chef's kiss. Hopefully, next time I'm back, I'll remember to order a side of butter because I think that'll be next level delicious. My friend got the shrimp with garlic sauce, and she loved it. I'll be completely honest, we did not try the food. But wow it looked good. I was here for work but from the moment I walked in, I was like, wow my husband would be drooling. It smelled so good and watching everyone's food coming out? I'm not sure it could be bad. We just sat at the bar for a couple drinks and our bartender was SO sweet. Love a seafood boil spot, and it seems so does everyone else after it's become trendy/ viral on social media! I'm glad we have a solid spot in the South Loop to go to when the seafood boil cravings kick in. I will say everything I've had in this location has been fresh and delicious. I usually get the sauce in the "hot" variety and to me it's a good heat and not overtly spicy at all. I will say the prices if you try to create your own boil bag versus choosing the pre-determined options is quite pricey (get ready to spend atleast $50 for a decent bag). The pre-determined options were not my favorite since I do like a variety of seafood in my boils and not just shrimp OR crab. My friend and I came here after a full day's work on 3/4/2025 for a Fat Tuesday event that was advertised on social media. This was our first time visiting this establishment. We came around 5:45 p.m. and the event was to begin at 6 p.m. We check in with the hostess who told us it would be a 35-40 minute wait. We decided to wait - they text you when your table is ready. They have barstools to sit in but all of them were full. It got supercrowded in there and many people were standing in the entrance and walkway area because there wasn't really anywhere else to wait. After waiting an hour, we finally get a text message and we were so relieved. One of the hostesses seated us at a table and asked us if we know how things work here. We said no. She showed us the QR code on the table to view the menu and also showed us our table number. She explained that when we are ready to order we needed to get up and go over to the section to physically place an order (remember your table number!). If you want drinks, that is a totally separate line. My friend and I looked at each other like we wanted to leave at that point. That meant after all that time waiting, no waitstaff comes to take your order, everything is self-instructed which was ridiculous! If someone working at their establishment had let us know that in all the time we were waiting to be seating, we could of just ordered our food TO GO! What a waste of time. Both lines to order food and order drinks were LONG and people were not happy as it was a bit chaotic. At one point, you couldn't tell what line from what because so many people were wrapped around the same area. After you order, you go back to your table and they bring you your food by your table number. They don't take long to bring you your food which was one of the few pluses of the evening. The other plus was the majority of the food was good. We had: Fried Shrimp - Excellent. Lightly breaded. Plump and good flavor Jalapeno Cornbread - Moist, dense and delicious Gumbo - Meh. Gumbo gravy was too watery, needed thickness to it. No sausage - there was seafood but you had to struggle to find the pieces of it. Not much rice in the gumbo Beignets - Good. Served warm-they are a nice size with powdered sugar on top Hurricane Drink - needs help. Doesn't taste anything like the drink in New Orleans - NOTE: at the drink station, they charge an automatic 18% gratuity on your bill. All the guy did was pour from a huge plastic container that had the drink pre-made it so how does that call for 18% tip? I don't know if it's heavy foot traffic like this on their non-event days but there needed to be more planning here to handle the crowd or making the decision to turn some people away (the pictured advertisement says "plenty of beads" but, we weren't given any). It definitely was a fire hazard the amount of people standing around the entrance - if there was an emergency where people needed to evacuate, there would have been a problem that could of resulted in something really bad happening. The Radium band they had for the event was GREAT, enjoyed them. I would come back to order food since I enjoyed most of it but TO GO! This place makes alot of extra money because they don't have to pay waitstaff but at what expense? When I go out to eat, I want to be served, not wait in three lines between being seated and ordering food/drink. A big lesson was learned by us that night. read more

Went here Saturday, March 29th to celebrate my daughter 16th Birthday! We've been to the one in Merrillville, but she wanted to go to this location because she heard it was better! Valet Parking was $10...we arrived an hour after they opened and were seated right away. The scenery was nice being downtown Chicago. The food came out pretty fast after ordering...maybe within like 10 mins. We had a big party and everybody got something different...their mussels were big and fresh and the shrimp were juicy! Amazing seafood boil in a bag. Or maybe I'm just biased and love seafood boil in a bag a lot. The price is pretty similar to what I'd see in NYC. Only difference is that it's pretty much self serve and the only thing they do for you is bring you the prepared food and cut the bag open for you. You take care of all utensils, water cups, and everything yourself. In these situations I'm not sure if I have to tip the 18-22% I normally would at eat in restaurants or not, but I did end up tipping the 18%. I ended up doing some research on Reddit and can't to the conclusion it doesn't have to be the 18-22%. But what you can afford or something small is appreciated. I noticed it self-serve service at a lot of restaurants/food places in Chicago. I visited on a Friday night and the place was pretty full, but there was no wait. I ordered crab clusters with corn and cajun seasoning. It was delicious. Can't really go wrong with seafood boil in a bag. Low Country's Chinatown location came highly recommended by my son, but figuring they were all the same, my wife and two friends went to the Wabash location. Rookie mistake. Let's start with the good: the food. Pretty good but my opinion may be colored by the experience and now for the bad: everything else. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst customer service experiences I've had and I'm in sales! I'm in restaurants with clients all the time. The entire staff looked like they were attending a hostage negotiation rather than running a restaurant. Nobody looked like they were having a good day. My wife stood at the bar for 15 minutes, completely ignored. When we finally brought it up to the manager, his response was a robotic, "Sorry, she's alone and has to put the orders in herself and then make the drinks." No eye contact. No actual concern. Just a flat, insincere brush-off. So, basically, "Yeah, we know it sucks. Deal with it, we have to" Later, when we asked for take-home bags, a busboy (I think?) simply pointed to a spot 10 feet away. Because, apparently, walking a few steps and handing them over or at least saying it nicely would have been too much customer service for one shift. When I got home and told my son about the experience, he immediately asked, "Wait, in Chinatown?" "No," I said, "the one on Wabash." His response? "Oh no, why'd you go to that one? That one sucks." Wish I'd known before we went. Maybe we'll give the Chinatown location a shot, but after experiencing this level of indifference, I'm in no rush. The sign, which is as large as a place card, states that there will be a 25% charge on all credit or debit cards. For every one-hundred-dollars spent, the Lowcountry will charge, $25.00. At this rate, the Lowcountry can make $2,500 dollars a day on one hundred customers. When I brought this to the manager's attention, she replied, "Everybody does it." No, they don't! Ugh. What a disappointment! I ate here twice hoping the first experience was an "off night". The music was waaay better than the snow crab legs. Both times the crab meat was over cooked and/or had freezer burn which means some is the crab meat has the same consistency as toothpaste. No joke! Took myself out to Low Country again last month (September 16th, South Loop location), to treat myself to a birthday dinner. The menu options aren't as broad as I've seen at some other places & it's pretty pricey. Nonetheless, the food was really good. This is the spot if you're on a hunt for Cajun Seafood boil! Upon entering, the place has a great look and feel, and the smells of garlic and whatever sauces they prepare immediately get you excited for the meal coming up. We ordered a 1lb Shrimp Combo that comes with Corn, Potatoes, Cornbread and a Soda with the Hot Cajun Sauce and a cluster of Snow Crab, again with the Hot Cajun sauce, to share between the two of us. The cook on the shrimp was brilliant and I love the way they semi-peel it making it easier to peel and eat. The sauce was the right amount of spice for me and the garlic overload I very much enjoyed. The side of Cornbread took me by surprise. It had bits of jalapeño which enhanced the sweetness giving it a kick of savory and the bread was perfectly tender and moist, not dry like the others I've had elsewhere before.
