Burger Bar absolutely exceeded our expectations! From the moment we walked in, the service was phenomenal. The owner even stopped by our table to say hello, which made the experience feel so welcoming and personal. A huge shoutout to our waitress (I'm so sorry I didn't catch your name!)--she had pink hair and was absolutely amazing. She knew the menu inside and out, had great recommendations, and I always appreciate when the staff really knows their food. She made the entire experience even better. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger, dry rub chicken bites, truffle fries, and mac & cheese to share between the two of us, and it was the perfect amount of food. The server was very kind but not particularly expedient. Upon ordering our drinks, a beer on tap and a specialty marg, the waiter informed us that the tap was having some issues. When he returned he brought the drink on tap and informed us that the bartenders were protesting the "Firewater Margarita." Apparently the bar was missing a key ingredient, and their boss told them to, "just put Frank's Red Hot instead." I asked for their regular marg, and it was not good sadly. If you come here, stick to something in a bottle or can! The food was fine! My boyfriend enjoyed his build-your-own burger and tater tots. I wouldn't recommend the Zesty Shrimp burger. This was my son's pick for our first lunch when we spent a weekend in Chicago to go to the Hatsune Miku Expo at the Auditorium Theater. The food is delicious! The award winning chili is so good! The brisket in it is perfect. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol or caffeine but luckily they had juice options too and I loved the peach nectar they offer. I also really enjoyed the Parmesan truffle fries. I was on the city for the first time, running the Chicago marathon. I was in the mood for a burger, and came across Burger Bar. It has dive bar vibes, but was clean and friendly. I have food allergies and the waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful with my choosing something I could eat. One big thing I loved, as someone who is a pickle lover, I LOVED that my burger had a good amount of pickles and they were large spears. I've never seen a burger do this, and it was delicious. Here at the Burger Bar. I haven't been here in probably over 2 years.. this time, I come in and asked to use the restroom before I ordered, just being a lady. ANYWAY, I go to the restroom room and the owner is staring me down as I walk away from the host stand. The owner must've sent the host, who is also black to the restroom to check on me as she freshened up the restroom and treated me as if I was in the way while I was standing in the mirror. I walked out of the restroom and sat at the bar trying to pay for my parking. Just having a personal issue under review before I ordered... still being starred down by the owner. The first time I met him he didn't seem racist but there's a lot going on in our country right now.. SO, unless you want to be uncomfortable with your black ***, skip this place. You will feel like eyes are on you the whole time (there are). The bartender was impatient with me and did not have any drink suggestions, demonstrating poor hospitality. I ordered a tequila.. the margarita is too sour.. it tastes like the garnishes are expired or the sour mix is spoiled. I definitely sent it back for straight tequila. It's in Michigan avenue but it gave neighbor bar. The counter top was very sticky. One of my largest pet peeves. My food was served but I did not get utensils. I wanted plastic ones anyway which took maybe 15 minutes to me to get. Food.. the fries were decent but the impossible burger was very mediocre. Anyway, forget this place, I'll never come back. I've been to Burger Bar several times in the last few months as a part of a running group, and we've always been well taken care of despite our large group numbers. Came here for dinner on a weeknight, no wait to sit down and server was very knowledgeable about allergies (I can't have gluten). Ordered the garlic wings, which were solid, and the bison burger on a gf bun with fries. The burger came out so undercooked (barely browned on the outside, completely raw on the inside). The server noticed when he walked up and promptly said he'd bring it back to the kitchen to cook properly since it was clearly "rare". Brought it back not even 5 minutes later, which is not long enough to cook a burger... we didn't eat it, and when the server came back he said "oh I'm just so glad we were able to rectify the error, and I hope you will come back another time, the kitchen is usually great on the first try" which was weird vibes based on a completely uneaten burger on our tray lol. A few years ago I was in Chicago and wanted to try this place. But it was a Friday or Saturday night and it was packed. Back recently and my hotel was around the corner. Amazing burger. But dang, expensive. Burger come with nothing, just the burger. I mean, it is epic. Mine had pulled short ribs on it. But I mean fries were extra. For just me: burger + fries + 1 beer + 20% tip = $52. As a business expense during travel, fine, I'm expensing it. I'm super glad I went. It was not readily apparent who the hostess was, that was until she emerged from the bar - which I thought was odd considering she was sitting with other patrons. Went to Chicago for a day trip and grabbed food to go at The Burger Bar. First things first, the manager is phenomenal. He was chatting with us as we waited for our food and even turned us on to a monthly special that he insisted we should come back for because it's amazing. The decor in the building was nice, it wasn't over crowded and the staff was super friendly. This spot was definitely a whole vibe. I got a bacon burger and my husband got a build-your-own burger as well as fries ;). We had quite the drive home to Michigan but we demolished our food as soon as we got home. The candied bacon was delicious and that's coming from someone that traditionally won't order bacon because I prefer to make my own. The fries were crispy and even after our long drive were tasty. My husband said his burger was on point and is looking forward to trying them in the future. We ended up here on mistake and it was the best mistake ever. From our waitress Addison to our burger to our drinks everything was A OK!!

I made a reservation for my daughter and I and when we arrived, we told the host. He said it would be a few minutes. There was a party of 3 before us who didn't have a reservation, and when a table opened up, he sat them first. We continued to wait and were sat about 15 minutes later. I know he forgot that we had a reservation because I made it on Open Table and they contacted me later, believing that I was a no show. (Once I explained the situation and even described our conversation we had with the host, they confirmed that we were there and awarded me the points.) He was very nice but I just feel in being so chatty with everyone he forgot to check us in. Anyway they have a variety of burgers or you can build your own. We ordered two of their specialties and the parmesan truffle fries. The burgers weren't the best I'd had, but they were large and quite filling. The fries were great!
