We love Flo & Santos' deep-dish pizza takeout. This time (Feb 2026), we got friends together for tavern-style pizza ... shaped like a heart for Valentines Day! Silly, fun, and soooo tasty! We started with their Saturday special: a $20 bucket of 5 Polish beers. (Or you could get American beers.) To let everyone taste them all, we asked for glasses, which they brought frosty-chilled. The Tyskie Gronie is a golden color lager with a light hoppy flavor. The Warka Classic is more coppery in color, a little bready or malty, with some light herbal lemony flavors, with a drier finish. Okocim "O.K. Beer" is a pilsner, a bit floral and sweet, crisp, and lightly but sharply hoppy. These were great frefreshing pizza beers. They also had a wide range of beers from crafts to midwest standards. We also showed them the recipe for Orange Crush, invented in Ocean City, and Maryland's Official State Drink since Jun 2025. Hey, they've got a shandy on their menu, so we can order our fsvorite summer drink if we want during Chicago "false spring" heat wave this week :-) We shared appetizers of calamari and pierogis. The $17.50 calamari was tender and hot, lightly coated with crisp flakey salt and pepper crust, with spicy marinara for dipping and lemon to brighten the flavors. We cut the tender seared $13 pierogis to share the thinly wrapped potatoes & cheese, meat, and sauerkraut & mushroom, with sides and servings of homemade bacon-specked sauerkraut, sour cream, and applesauce. We would have ordered more of the peirogis, to have more than a few halves per person, but there was pizza work to do! Flo & Santos is (are?) serious with their tavern-style pizza! The crust is terrifically thin, like Italian piada bread, cooked crispy crunchy like a cracker, and cut into squares for sharing :-) Of course covered with all kinds of creative toppings, and red marinara sauce, or garlic cream white sauce, or no-sauce! We got the heart-shaped Valentines Feb 13-15 special with thin-cut pepperoni, lightly spicy and cutely relaxed about the exact shape :-). We added Nama's Veggie pizza, generously covered in tender sweet spinach, fresh tomato, bitey diced onion, chunks of sweet juicy green pepper, and a scattering of black olives and mushrooms for umami flavoring. Quite a marvelous collection of flavors. And we went a little wild with Marco's Italian Beef pizza! Don't shy away. They didn't imitate that classic Chicago sandwich. Instead, they lay that savory thin-sliced beef over tomato marinara pizza-sauce, then add a flsvorful zingy hot giardiniera, and make it even richer with fire-roasted tomatoes and caramelized onion. I think we got the $29 14-inch size of each pizza, plenty of deliciously-topped crunchy pizza for our group of six adults and three children, with some wonderful leftovers to take home :-) For a special dessert, they offered a super-cute whipped-cream-decorated heart-shaped strawberry $6.50 gelato with a chocolate-covered strawberry. When we saw the one, we shared several more around the table. A lovely refreshing finish. loved the food and drink, and the friendly attentive staff. We showed up without a reservation at 4:20pm on a Saturday, and with little waiting, they assembled a table for our group of nine. As we left two hours later, they were setting up a table for 20! We found street-parking pretty easily nearby for one car, and most of us arrived about two blocks away at the Roosevelt stop on the Orange, Green, and Red "L" lines. I have been to Flo & Santos a few times, and it's an okay place to grab a drink or some nosh. The only thing I don't care for a ton is that they seem to not want to collect for individual drinks when paying cash, but then it's awkward during shift change. It makes it a "one and done" place for me, which, funny enough, two different bartenders have asked me if my drink is one and done when they see I am paying cash. They do have a large outside seating area and some okay specials during the week. Bartenders are usually pretty attentive, but I cannot help but think they cater more to regulars sitting at the bar than others who are just popping in. read more

Most tourists come to Chicago for the iconic deep dish style pizza, but locals know that tavern style is where it's at! There's only so many days one can indulge on a thick pie before it becomes too rich and filling. And that's where Flo & Santos comes in bringing all the best flavors of pizza onto a cracker like style crust which is much easier to share while drinking a beer and watching a game. My wife and I ordered a medium size thin crust pizza with half Grace's favorite and the other half Marco's Italian Beef which both tasted great! I liked how you could taste each ingredient underneath the warm blanket of cheesy goodness. The crisp texture of the crust was super addicting and very reminiscent of the frozen pizzas you'd get from the grocery store but in all the best ways. Each slice almost feels like a cracker with enough structure to prevent the toppings from falling off. The place was quite large with even more outdoor seating. I can see why so many people would enjoy this more often because it is easily shareable and you don't feel nearly as guilty or heavy haha! I only wish it was more affordable. At $23, this is quite expensive considering I could have easily demolished the entire medium pizza to myself. So for a large group of friends, I'd have to order multiple pies which is less filling and may end up costing as much or even more than a deep dish pizza. read more

Came for the final four game bc we were craving tavern style and it was a good neighborhood spot vibe. Went with Grace's favorite and it was good but wish the crust was crispier - a lot more cheese in the middle vs other ingredients. The pierogis were delicious, surprisingly the favorite was the mushroom and sauerkraut but other two flavors were good too. Beer selection was ok, wish it had more stout varieties. The turkey BLT was a healthier option that I enjoyed - fresh ingredients and came with a side of delightful waffle fries (with the option to add cheese). The pizza was good, although a bit undercooked. The ambiance was very chaotic so be ready for that. Go there if you're looking for a rowdy good time, with more of a biker vibe. Came in to watch football and grab a drink, it's a decent little neighbors pizza joint. I tried the Italian beef pizza, something new. Stopped in and ordered a bucket of Polish beer and pizza--half Buffalo Bill's and half Phil's Honey Heat. The vibe was chill and it felt like a good spot to kick back for a bit. The Polish beer was nothing fancy; just your typical light beer. The Buffalo chicken slice was okay, kind of average honestly. The hot honey with the pepperoni was the great combo of sweet and spicy. Flo & Santos - Finally Made It, and Mostly Worth the Wait! As a long-time Chicago visitor with family and friends across the city, Flo & Santos had been on my list for years. I'd heard great things about their bar, pies, and food, and staying in a vacation rental just down the street gave me the perfect excuse to finally check it out. We popped in for an impromptu bite and were greeted with a classic Chicago pub vibe--warm, welcoming, bar on one side, seating on the other, and a nice patio out back. Our server was friendly and service was solid... until a busload of sheriff conference guests arrived. Not the restaurant's fault, but it definitely slowed things down and took a bit of the shine off the evening. Food Rundown: Pierogi Appetizer - Unique! I've had a lot of pierogies (Detroit roots), and these were unlike any I've tried. Great texture and tasty fillings. The sauerkraut, though? Not for me--more sweet and bland than the traditional sour kick I was hoping for. 13th Street Italian Sub (Wife's Pick) - A total winner. Just spicy enough to make your nose run, with super fresh ingredients and a crunchy roll that softened perfectly after a few bites. Buffalo Bills Pizza (My Pick) - Toppings were on point: spicy chicken, cheese, buffalo sauce, and onion in perfect balance. Not sloppy, just right. But the crust? Meh. Dry, floury, and lacking that chewy, gluteny goodness I love. It held up, but I'd trade that for more flavor and texture. Value - Hard to judge since I've lived in Seattle for 15 years and everything outside the PNW feels like a bargain! But for under $60, we got an app, two meals, and a couple of drinks--definitely a solid deal by Chicago standards. Lots of bar specials too, though we weren't in the mood to run a tab that night. Bottom Line: Flo & Santos is definitely making my short list for sandwiches and drinks next time I'm in town. This place is the absolute best. Came in from Louisville for a work trip and knew I had to get some tavern pizza. A local co-worker suggested this spot for it's awesome vibes, patio space, and service. And of course, the tavern pizza. I grabbed an italian beef dip pizza, a shot of Malort and a miller high life. On a tavern-style pizza kick, and in the neighborhood, we decided to try this place for dinner. There was plenty of space, the beer list is nice, and the pizza was perfectly fine. But it was nothing special. Even "well done," the crust just had a bit of crunch and the cheese had no appreciable browning at all. This was true for the rest of the food more or less across the board, and for the service as well for that matter. If this is your neighborhood haunt I totally get how you could come here regularly, because perfectly fine pizza and a nice beer is the kind of thing you sometimes need in a neighborhood haunt; I have neighborhood haunts like this myself. We had dinner here at the suggestion of a friend who lives in Chicago, and this is their favorite pizza place. Thin crispy crust, plenty of options, good beer selection, nice discounts / specials on drinks, and the patio was a great spot on a summer night. The vibe is cool and I would come back to try more of their specials too. The touristy deep dish pizza spot had a 1.5 hour wait, here we walked right in and our food came out fast too. 4.5 stars. The service here is amazing. There is a great little standing area to have a drink while you wait for a table, and we appreciated the attentiveness of the bartender. It looked busy when we arrived, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our server was great. She checked in often, but didn't linger or rush us in any way. As for the food, we only had enough of an appetite for pizza, but the pierogis I saw coming out of the window looked promising. Our pizza was flavorful (especially the fire roasted tomatoes) and the crust was perfectly crisp. The prices for beer and food were decent, too. I'd like to return ans try some of the other specialty pizza options, as there are some unique flavor combinations offered. The only issue was the men's room. My husband reported an overflowing urinal and liquid on the floor... which seems pretty unsanitary for people to be walking through (especially if they work in the kitchen). Such a highly recommended place on reddit, not sure I understand why. Maybe it's for the atmosphere or non-pizza food...the pizza does have great crunchy texture, but beyond that it's mid grade cheese, skimpy tasteless sauce and tastes like burnt matzah. I enjoy well done pizza, but you can do it without making it taste like it's just burned. Maybe it's just not my thing- I've had pizza that tastes like this over the years and it brings me back to the same disappointment. For some it must bring them back to the same joy. That being said we ordered their "Italian Gelato" and it was absolutely not Gelato. It tasted and looked 100% like Breyer's vanilla bean with the black specks of bean. My new favorite spot in the south loop! Hear me out--do you ever just want a casual vibe with great music and even greater food? Yup, me too and that's why I love Flo & Santos. Always friendly, always good. The vibe is bar/comfort food. No need to make a reservation because I don't think they take them but also because they've got a big space and I've never had a problem getting a table--either immediately or after a 5-minute wait. Really love this place and glad we found it. In the front it looks like a divey sports bar, but if you go there with your family, ask to sit in the back room, which has a warm, inviting, and neighborhoody feel. Very kid friendly, a large menu which has something for everyone, and the polish food is really amazing. We like to get the polish sampler which has kielbasa, sauerkraut, potato pancake, and pierogi. The ceasar salad here is deliciious (which I wasn't expecting) but don't miss it. Our kid likes the hot dog and they have other good things on the kid's menu. 5 star pizza but..... I was about to order a soda while waiting for my carry out order (most places give you one for free while you wait, but not here I guess) When I saw a guy who had been sweeping up the place pick up the dust pan and drop it into the trash, which was immediately next to the ice. A bunch of dust and debris floated into the ice so I did not order a drink. I brought it to the manager's attention , but they just sort of glanced into the ice, didn't see anything I guess, and then walked away. At that point, surely I thought I would get the offer of a free soda, even though after seeing that I would not have wanted it. 07/30/24 - Tuesday dinner. Despite crowd, we were seated immediately on the patio, and the servers were attentive. The patio offers a view of the train, but isn't noisy enough to drown out conversation. The Farmers Market pizza has rotating toppings weekly - we ordered it with artichoke, olives, spinach, and red peppers. I'm not sure if these toppings are actually sourced from a local farmer's market, but they were definitely the highlight of the pizza, all tasting fresh. The crust was just okay: a bit too salty - perhaps due to no marinara sauce. This wouldn't be my first choice for a pizza, but they had a large menu of other dishes, and the ambiance was excellent for a summer evening. read more

Because they are known for their Italian beef I ordered one to go. This is where my disappointment came. Ordered a beef dipped with mozzarella cheese. Paid a $30 bill with two 20's. When I got home I realized that the waitress gave me a single with my receipt instead of a ten. Lol expensive beef. They also package their food in a cardboard container without wrapping the sandwich so moist cardboard dry sandwich. read more

Great ambiance here and very reasonable prices for what you're getting. The staff are attentive and will check in with you often, but not annoyingly so. There are also great deals for most days of the week for various food and beer selections, so if you're frequently in the South Loop you can find some variety on different days. Saturday has a great beer deal so that may be of interest to many. read more

Love the vibe of this place. It's well spaced out and with all the tvs I won't miss a game. My second time here and wow it didn't disappoint. I started with the spooky berry drink. It's was fruity. I enjoyed it. We also had the perogis which I also really enjoyed. I actually thought they were better this time than the first time I had them. I'm Not sure what was different. The sausage pizza I think is prefect but I really enjoyed the buffalo bill pizza. It's Buffalo chicken with blue cheese. It's spicy and tangy and just the star of the show. I really enjoyed it.
