Flew into Chicago today and stopped in for dinner. Sat at the bar and meet Miguel. He gave us great service today. We had a 9in deep pizza for the first time. Was very good. Drinks were spot on. Place was very chilled to hang out with lots of TVS.

Can't leave Chicago without a trip to Gino's! Our server, Hannah was great! Pizzas take 20min-1 hour to make depending on what you order, but what comes out is super fresh deep dish that feels like the essence of Chicago cuisine Worth the wait and worth the trip! Deep dish can be very filling!

Miguel was awesome. I sat at the bar top solo and he was very attentive without being needy or hovering. I never had to worry about my drink getting low or dishes sitting around. Oh, get the mozzarella sticks. 10/10

Our server, Miguel, was exceptional. Friendly, fun-spirited, and on point with every detail. He repeated back our order to ensure accuracy and nailed it the first time. The atmosphere was as casual and clean, offering outdoor seating surrounded by plants for privacy from street and ambiance. And of course their famous deep dish pizza with the sausage patty, plenty of cheese, and chunky tomato sauce delicious. The corn vs flour crust was light and flavorful while also having a bit of crispness. Bravo!

I just wanted to say hi again and give a huge shout out to Julio! He's taken care of me several times and provides fabulous service. This is one of the best happy hours in town! Monday thru Thursday from 4-6pm. Discounts on select beers and a few $5 wines. I love the Pinot Noir. Also, 50% off thin crust pizzas! I love the Diavola thin crust. It's my standard order. It's perfect. I love the spicy pepperoni, truffle oil, and fresh basil. The crust is crispy and perfect. I want to applaud the consistently. Every time I come here, the food is perfect. The pizza is amazing every time. Everything is really good here. I love the mozzarella sticks. The desserts are great too! I also really love the Sangria. Everyone who works here is really kind. I feel treated really well. Come check out their holiday decor! It's beautiful!! It's so festive and I love the ambiance and good vibes here.

It had been YEARS since my last visit to Chi-Raq, and it was starting to feel like it would be a violation of my Eighth Amendment protection against cruel and unusual punishment for me not to immediately enjoy the kind of awesome pies that are unique to Chicago. I took advantage of a recent trip elsewhere to stop off and get myself a Chicago deep-dish pizza fix. As I as now was going to be in the neighborhood, I decided it was high time for me to check out Gino's East and sample one of their legendary deep-dish pizzas. Tip: The name Gino's East refers to the fact that the first location opened by this micro-chain was due East of the original Gino's. Good things come to those who wait, and you'll be waiting up to forty-five minutes for one of Gino East's awesome deep-dish pies to bake. Don't fret though - you'll be SOOO glad you waited!! From Gino's obviously fresh and top quality ingredients, to the flakey, buttery corn bread crust, to their completely fabulous sauce, I knew after my very first bite that I'd revisit Gino's East each and every time I return to Chicago - it's simply that good! Gino's East has baking awesome deep-dish pies down to a science, and the best and the brightest aspect of their pies is the cornbread crust; it's got just the right amount of crunchiness without being hard, and the flavor profile completely compliments the sauce and the toppings to make each and every bite a symphony of flavor. If you haven't tried Gino's East yet, You're totally missing out; I suggest you right that egregious wrong at your first opportunity!

I know some people put Geno's East down a little compared to those other pizza places in Chicago, but I don't know why. First, I do prefer their sauce over the place, for me it seems a little sweeter and more tomato forward. I also prefer the one giant piece of sausage over the entire pizza so each bite gets sausage. Is the other pizza place great too? Yes, but I just prefer Gino's over the other places.

We decided on deep dish for our first meal in Chicago. We've tried all the chains before and came back here because we remember the crust being light and flaky. We arrived around 7 on a Friday night and were seated in about 10 minutes. We know deep dish pizzas take a long time, so we started with the harvest salad. It was delicious but wish it had romaine instead of iceberg. To kill our time waiting for the pizza, we also ordered a thin crust Diavola. It was really good. For deep dish, we got the Meaty Legend. It came out quicker than 45 minutes since they said they weren't that busy. Their signature crust had really good flavor but we would have liked it a little crunchier. The mixture of the meets was delicious. For dessert we got the deep dish brownie. It was light and fluffy like a cake and had good chocolate flavor. They have Pepsi so I had to get an adult beverage. The white sangria didn't seem like it had alcohol in it, but it hit me hard after a long day of travel. Julio was a very attentive server. There were games on the TVs. The bathrooms were really clean.

Food was amazing! First time trying Deep dish and loved it. Service was top, Miguel was so attentive! Great location and seating, nice and clean also. Only negative is it was HOT! I do not believe they have AC. And having pizza in a hot room is not the most comfy. They do have outdoor seating but its small. Apart from that. Highly recommend.

Great Service & Delicious Deep Dish We had a great experience here--both the service and the food were excellent. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and a small 9" deep dish pizza with sausage and pepperoni. It was the perfect size meal for two, especially since we were really hungry--and it hit the spot! Our timing was a little early for dinner, but the place started to fill up as we were finishing, even on a weeknight. Fortunately, there was no wait when we arrived. We were staying at the hotel just across the street, so the location was super convenient. The bar atmosphere was nice and relaxed. However, I did miss the iconic Gino's East graffiti-covered walls--it's such a fun and memorable part of their usual vibe, and this location felt a bit more polished in comparison.

My first authentic deep dish experience! We ordered the 9in spinach margherita deep dish pizza. This came with 4 chonky slices, which was the perfect amount of food for two people. The crust was a flavorful, almost cornbread like texture and flavor but crispy outside. The tomato, cheese, and basil sauce was flavorful, hot, and abundant. I just wish deep dish pizza restaurants would remind patrons that deep dish pizza takes 30-40 minutes to cook. We sat there bored and hungry but if we ordered an app I don't think we would have room to finish the hefty pizzas! Logistics: - indoor seating, can't remember if there was outdoor seating - limited street parking nearby but close to loop transit - many sports games playing on the TVs

Up until tonight, my experiences had always been positive and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately, this visit was more than disappointing. I ordered a salad I've had at least a dozen times before, accept I added grilled chicken on top. I live for this salad and was just there maybe three weeks ago. Unaware that they have changed their menu, I ordered as usual. The name of the salad has not changed on the menu, but apparently the ingredients had been completely altered. When the dish arrived, to my surprise, it was drastically different and not something I enjoyed at all. I politely informed our server, who was kind and accommodating, and offered to replace the dish. However, it was now 6 p.m. we had tickets to see The Wiz at 7 p.m. and didn't have time to wait for another order, which I also informed her. I asked if the salad could be removed from the bill since it was essentially untouched. The server checked with the owner, who refused to remove the $30 salad or offer any kind of discount. When a restaurant changes a dish but keeps the same name, it creates a reasonable expectation for returning customers. When that expectation isn't met, basic customer service should step in. What makes this even more frustrating is that the restaurant was willing to prepare an entirely new dish, but not willing to remove the uneaten one from the bill. That simply isn't logical. If you're prepared to replace an item, it clearly acknowledges there was an issue, so refusing to comp or adjust the original charge is unreasonable. That decision was extremely disappointing. I, in-turn made the decision to eat only the additional grilled chicken on top, leaving the rest of the salad, paying the full bill and promptly getting out of there so we could be on time for our show. The only positive part of the experience was our server, who handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. Sadly, the new menu leaves much to be desired and this experience has cost Peanut Park my business and my referrals going forward.

The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes. And of course I had to get the gelato, which was so aesthetically presented and the taste just reminded me of an Italian summer vacation.

Alla Vita: A Masterclass in West Loop Elegance…read more If you are looking for a spot that perfectly balances "industrial chic" with "grandma's Sunday kitchen," **Alla Vita** is hitting all the right notes. Located at 564 W Randolph, it's a sprawling, airy space that manages to feel intimate despite its scale. Here is the breakdown of the heavy hitters from the menu: **The Truffle Mushroom Pizza** This isn't your standard wood-fired pie. The crust strikes that elusive balance between a pillowy interior and a crisp, charred exterior. The earthiness of the mushrooms is front and center, but it's the truffle that ties it together without being overpowering. It's rich, aromatic, and deeply savory--the kind of pizza that makes you forget about pepperoni entirely. **The Ricotta Dumplings** These are, quite frankly, little clouds of heaven. While many places struggle with leaden gnocchi, Alla Vita's ricotta dumplings are impossibly light. They have a delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture that acts as a perfect canvas for the sauce. Every bite feels indulgent yet airy; it is easily the "must-order" dish of the night. **The Tiramisu** To close out the meal, the Tiramisu is a sophisticated take on the classic. It isn't overly sweetened, allowing the bold espresso and creamy mascarpone to shine. It's structured but soft, providing a caffeinated, velvety finale that cleanses the palate without weighing you down. **The Verdict:** Alla Vita is more than just a "pretty" restaurant. The service is snappy, the atmosphere is electric, and the food--specifically the pasta program--is top-tier. Whether you're there for a celebratory dinner or a high-energy weeknight meal, it's a West Loop essential. **Pro Tip:** The restaurant fills up fast, so snag a reservation well in advance, especially if you're eyeing a weekend table.
