No offers for a refill on my drink. It's been 10-15 minutes since i finished my lil salty pizza and i can't pay my bill to leave to go get some better food. First and foremost, what really rubbed us the wrong way was the service. We were greeted by staff that did not seem friendly. When we were notified that our table was ready, we were told to check in with the hostess. She stared intently at her iPad seating arrangement and did not greet us. (Did we approach the right person?) She then informed some other staff to take us to our table without looking at us. This was a really weird interaction. However, the terrible service continued once we met our waitress. Initially, she was great and greeted us with a smile and helped us out with any questions. The turning point was when she served our appetizers. As she placed the food on the table, the food fell off the plate and onto the table. She picked up the food and placed it back on the plate. We thought she was gonna take it back, but nope. Before she fully left, we asked her to give us another plate. Oh man. Other that those two big things, the service was relatively standard. Turn around on food and drinks were solid. Big points docked for unfriendliness and basic unprofessionalism. As for the food, the appetizers were good, but not anything to write home about. If anything, it felt comparable to Dave and Buster's food. As for the main reason we came, the deep dish pizza was good too in the sense that its strong suit is how it cheesy it gets. But to be honest, there are much better deep dish pizzas to be offered in Chicago. An Uber driver who lives in Chicago recommended here and told me this is one of the places the locals go, so of course I had to try it! When we tried to ask for assistance, it was difficult to tell who was a server and who was bussing tables. We asked a busser for help, but were simply told that we would have to wait. After several more minutes, we went to the host stand ourselves. The host seemed a bit confused when taking our order and wasn't able to assist us immediately. Our food arrived about 30-40 minutes after ordering. We were hoping to try the deep-dish pizza, but were told the wait time would be about an hour and 15 minutes, so we decided to order the tavern-style pizza instead. Note that, signs indicate to only enter this location from the curbside, as the pretty patio-side in the plaza area is not an entry. The edges were crisp but the rest was soft while also not getting too mushy. The deep dish was the final food arrival at our table. The menu and waitstaff are clear about it taking around 40 minutes for the deep dish to cook. The wait was totally worth it. Our very first restaurant that we visited on our trip to Chicago on 6/17-6/22/26 was to Giordano's! We wanted that real Chicago style experience by ordering their famous deep dish pizza. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed in the lobby by Orlando, the manager, who escorted us on a tour of this huge, friendly, photo-op ready, Italian restaurant filled with happy guests and good loud music. He seated us at a very comfy leather booth in the middle with an optimum view of the place. The wonderful pizza aroma was floating around us. My daughter and I were then introduced to our server, Bram, who went above and beyond to make our evening unforgettable and fun! He had great suggestions for us: start with the Mozzarella Triangles with marinara sauce. Those were amazingly delicious without being heavy and filling us up before we got to eat the deep dish pizza. We ordered ice water to keep the calories down but they have a great bar. Bram asked what size pizza we wanted and showed us each size. We chose small, which was a large to us when we saw it. They are generous here with their portions. We decided to split the pizza toppings half and half. I wanted sausage, mushrooms, and black olives for my toppings and my daughter chose Canadian bacon and pineapple. It would take 45 minutes to bake. In the meantime, we looked around this fascinating place to see what it was all about. It was amazing and we plan a return trip to Chicago in the near future so we will be back to see Orlando & Bram and have that pizza again. Instead of waiting, I placed an online order for pickup, and the whole process was quick and easy. Finding the entrance was a little confusing at first. They have a beautiful outdoor patio in addition to a large indoor dining area, so it took me a minute to figure out where to go. Unreal. The pizza itself was pretty good so if you're going to come here, stick to that. But our experience was also soured by the terrible service we received. The waitress dropped our wings and we literally never saw her again. We didn't get fresh plates for our pizza after another server brought it to the table so we had to eat it off the plate with the chicken bones. She didn't serve any of the slices to us.
