Personal sized pepperoni pizza... Chicago style.
    Amy L.

I had about 24 hours in Chicago, and how can I visit Chicago without trying the Chicago Pizza? I looked on yelp for the closest pizza place to my hotel, and Giordano's came up. I got there and there was about 15 people in front of me in line. The hostess was really nice and because I was there by myself, she called up to the bar to see if there was any seats at the bar so I didn't have to wait. I found out that Chicago style pizza takes about 45 minutes to cook, but I was willing to wait. After about an hour I asked where the pizza was, and they said "we lost it". Although I was disappointed that I had waited so long , they were accommodating and apologetic, and took ownership, which I really respected and appreciated. They said they could get me another pizza quicker than 45 minutes, so in total I waited about an hour and a half. They asked me if there's any appetizers I wanted for free or drinks and because I didn't wanna fill up before my pizza and I had already had a salad , I declined. The pizza came out and it was absolutely delicious. Was it worth the wait? Because I didn't have anything else that evening for a while that I needed to do, it was worth it. If I had been in a rush, it would've been a different story. The hostess, the bartender/waiter and the manager were all very nice and attentive. I had a great time at the bar socializing with people from different parts of the country. I would definitely recommend Giordano's.

Deep dish pizza is a must-try according to many who have visited Chicago. When I first visited Chicago years ago my experience with DDP was great. It was a very filling and delicious experience. This visit to Giordano's was okay. The first thing that stands out was how poor the service was. Our server was not particularly quick, friendly, or caring. He wasn't devoid of attempting to do his job, but he wasn't good either. The ambiance is busy. Folks love pizza and this location in summer is busy. Our wait for a table for three was quoted as 20 minutes but we were seated quicker. We actually waited for our server longer than it took to get seated. The bathrooms were clean and seemed well maintained. The pizza we ordered was a deep dish pepperoni. I found our pizza good but slightly disappointing in that it came out slightly cold. The crust was great as a breadstick after eating the saucy and cheesy part. We also ordered a salad that was okay. All in all, I probably wouldn't come back considering the service and price, but I do acknowledge that deep dish pizza should be tried and Giordano's still makes a good one.

We were looking for a place near our hotel for Chicago deep dish pizza and went to Giordano's nearby. The place was hopping - so busy - but we were seated quickly. Our server was very attentive and helpful throughout dinner. Although we went for pizza, the pastas looked amazing so we tried the lasagna and the rigatoni with bolognese sauce - both quite good! The red sauce is amazing - so flavorful! Wine selection was ok. Only drawback was it was pretty loud so hard to have a conversation.

Perhaps my taste has changed a lot. This is my first time here. I've tried their competitor the LM pizzeria and I thought it was excellent, but then again this was years ago. I expected the crust to be crispy. Instead, it was just kind of hard. They do definitely heavily cheese this pizza and the marinara was excellent Service was good and we got a small that probably could've easily fed three people with a side salad. This place was packed. Is it overhyped? Perhaps maybe. But either way I guess I'm glad I tried it. I'm not sure that I would come back because maybe I don't like Chicago deep dish as much as I thought I did.

Chicago deep dish pizza didn't disappoint. We shared a margherita and a classic pizza. Started with a family size Cesar salad, which was plenty for four people. The wait was about 20 minutes on a Monday night for dinner. Our waiter was as attentive as he could be for a busy restaurant. Be prepared to wait at least an hour for pizza and put your pizza order in first. The photographers are the only reason for a four star review. We bought two photos and he explained that this line down the right side of the photo was a watermark. We asked if we purchase the photos that the watermark would be removed. He said no. That's not normal. Why would you buy a photo with a watermark? He ended up giving us all the photos but I'm not sure he understood the purpose of a watermark on a photo.

We went to Giordano's in Chicago and ordered the deep dish pizza. We were really excited to try an iconic Chicago spot, but the experience was pretty disappointing. It took about 45 minutes for the pizza to come out, which we expected given deep dish, but when it finally arrived it wasn't even warm. The whole thing felt like it had been sitting out or didn't finish cooking evenly. The bruschetta was fine but nothing special. Service was fine and the restaurant itself has a nice casual, tourist-friendly vibe, but the food just didn't live up to the reputation for us this time. Maybe it was an off day, but for something that's supposed to be a Chicago staple, it missed the mark. Not sure I'd go back, especially with so many other pizza options in the city.

I went to Giordano's for a chill late-night dinner with a group of friends. Note that, signs indicate to only enter this location from the curbside, as the pretty patio-side in the plaza area is not an entry. So, from the curbside entry, there is a waiting room with benches on the left and right side, and a greeting desk ahead in the center. When called, we ascended on the far left and entered the dining area. It was quite busy. We were shown a table and took our seats. We chose a classic deep dish pie and a gluten free pizza - all to share. We also ordered an Italian salad to share. Highly recommend the Italian salad. It is a chopped salad and highly flavorful and fresh. This is the first item delivered to our table. They offer a thin 12 inch GF crust, and we always try GF when available. The menu indicated that several sauces are GF. I can happily report that the pizza was quite enjoyable. The toppings were fresh and generous. The edges were crisp but the rest was soft while also not getting too mushy. The deep dish was the final food arrival at our table. The menu and waitstaff are clear about it taking around 40 minutes for the deep dish to cook. The wait was totally worth it. Also note, the 10 inch may sound small, but it's unlikely that many people would want to eat more than two slices of this at a sitting - the slices are like two inches thick! Because we had already shared salad and GF pizza - we had a lot of leftovers. Totally worth it. Now, the one hitch here - the womens restroom was beyond atrocious. I mean, diapers, pads, paper, and debris piled up and overflowing from every tiny trash bin in every stall - Add to that non- flushed messes and more mess on the fixtures and floors - And an empty paper towel dispenser. Frankly, they need a big trash barrel in there- the volume of diapers alone was too large for the available recepticals. Clearly, many menstruating folks are trying to dispose of used products, and if the teeny tiny stall mounted trash pockets are stuffed with diapers and other used items... Well. Reader, you likely see where the his is going... I cannot even fathom the reason for the rest of the mess. So, restroom hard no. Generally - if you have a business that encounters a large number of stroller folks- expect related mess and account for it. Especially in busy Chicago where strollers are obnoxiously present everywhere - just read the room!

Chicago's famous Deep Dish pizza place!

Our very first restaurant that we visited on our trip to Chicago on 6/17-6/22/26 was to Giordano's! We wanted that real Chicago style experience by ordering their famous deep dish pizza. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed in the lobby by Orlando, the manager, who escorted us on a tour of this huge, friendly, photo-op ready, Italian restaurant filled with happy guests and good loud music. He seated us at a very comfy leather booth in the middle with an optimum view of the place. The wonderful pizza aroma was floating around us. My daughter and I were then introduced to our server, Bram, who went above and beyond to make our evening unforgettable and fun! He had great suggestions for us: start with the Mozzarella Triangles with marinara sauce. Those were amazingly delicious without being heavy and filling us up before we got to eat the deep dish pizza. We ordered ice water to keep the calories down but they have a great bar. Bram asked what size pizza we wanted and showed us each size. We chose small, which was a large to us when we saw it. They are generous here with their portions. We decided to split the pizza toppings half and half. I wanted sausage, mushrooms, and black olives for my toppings and my daughter chose Canadian bacon and pineapple. It would take 45 minutes to bake. In the meantime, we looked around this fascinating place to see what it was all about. It was amazing and we plan a return trip to Chicago in the near future so we will be back to see Orlando & Bram and have that pizza again. When Bram brought our pizza to our table, we were amazed at how large our pizza was and how delicious it smelled. Then he did their famous Cheese Pull at our table. We were ready to take pictures! It was the best looking deep dish pizza I had ever seen. That first bite was absolutely delicious! We had the biggest smiles on our faces. It was so much fun to dine here! We were only able to barely eat half of the pizza as it was so rich. We took the rest to our hotel room. Thank you, Orlando & Bram, for your congeniality! Tips: There are stairs to the second floor and an easy to walk or use a wheelchair ramp. This is an older building so no elevator. The staff are ready to help you if necessary. I believe there was a parking lot next door. We ubered so I didn't notice. The music is loud and happy but you can hold a conversation. The prices are reasonable, which is so nice to see nowadays. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very clean with old school decor and vibe. Enjoy!

I knew getting a table here on a Saturday evening was going to be nearly impossible, but I still wanted to try their famous pizza. Instead of waiting, I placed an online order for pickup, and the whole process was quick and easy. Finding the entrance was a little confusing at first. They have a beautiful outdoor patio in addition to a large indoor dining area, so it took me a minute to figure out where to go. Thankfully, they have a separate counter just for pickup orders, which made things really convenient. I ordered the fresh spinach tavern-style pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. I'm really glad I decided to do pickup because when I got there, there were still plenty of people waiting to be seated. If you're craving their pizza but don't want to spend hours in line, I'd definitely recommend going the pickup route.

online ordering for pickup is the way to go -- the lines for dining in and takeout are really long. this is definitely a better deep dish than lou malnati's, the pizza is hot and fresh, and the cheese is nice and stretchy. the side crust was pretty hard though

C We made it. Just a short line to deep dish heaven!

A must do Chicago experience. There was a line down the block so I knew I was in the right place. Pretty efficiently ran though. The pizza takes the lingers to cook so first you queue at the door and order your pizza, you wait to be seated then you can order drinks, apps etc. We ended up sitting at the bar. They have a ton of yummy drinks and friend bar staff. We had the calamari which include fried banana peppers and fried lemon. I'm spoiled and now this will be the only way u eat it. lol. They have a solid Caesar salad. The icing on the top was our deep dish with sausage, peppers onions and an insane amount of cheese surrounded by a buttery crust. You can get a personal one if you are solo. It's a must try! Yum! Check out the cheese pull!!!

The embodiment of all my pizza dreams live here at Giordanos. A great overall experience! Great service, beautiful restaurant, and delicious food. The house salad was so, so refreshing! Fresh crunchy salad with delicious cheese, locally sourced. The tavern style pizza was my favorite; plenty of toppings, perfect crunch, perfect amount of cheese. I also loved that the pizza was cut into squares; perfect for sharing. We opted to also try the deep dish and took the advice of many YouTubers and got the INDIVIDUAL sized "all the meats". It was a bit salty for my taste but it was good overall. The crust was nice and crispy, lots of cheese for the cheese lover in me. Definitely would be better if I had created a custom pizza with some veggies to balance. Our servers and front desk host were both lovely ab had great vibes. Would definitely be back for the tavern pizza and salad when I come back to Chicago.

Deep dish the way it is supposed to be. Thick, cheesey, and so very filling. We really liked the sausage topping. Order ahead and skip the 45min pizza cook time. A regular size pizza is enough food for 4 people. Service was cordial. The atmosphere was cozy.

Is it necessary to make a reservation? Do they actually take reservations? Thank you

They don't take reservations at this location, but you put your name on a wait list when you arrive and can pre order your pizzas. It's actually a great system !

Do you offer a gluten-free pizza crust?

Check the menu says available but we ordered regular classic crust during our visit!

    Is vax card required?

Not anymore , in December of 2022, but regulations could change in the future.

A few of their Chicago location websites say they have reservations but when I try to make them online, you can't. So they don't take reservations?

When I visited last month, we just walked in and were seated.

    Do they do single slices?

they do not do single slices, all pizza you just order to be made. the smallest pie size is an individual which is 6". deep dish takes 45 minutes minimum to make and thing crust takes about 35 minutes minimum.

Are dogs allowed in their outdoor seating area?

    Yes

Can you call in to place an order ahead of time?

    Yes

    Corn meal crust?

    Nope!

    Whens the last order time?

I believe 1 hour before closing.

Do they leave the top portion of the stuffed crust pizza uncooked for a reason?

It's not uncooked, it is just the style of pizza. Normally, pizza has the sauce and then the cheese on top. With deep dish they put the cheese with the toppings and then they top it off with the pizza sauce.

Why oh why did you get Rid of the deep fried Mushrooms?

Was replaced by some other dish during last menu update.

I followed that up with Melodious Maibock and ordered the CBG burger with fries. I didn't have lunch so I dove right in and forgot to snap a photo. It was a very good smash burger. It was cooked well and I really liked the combination of pickled onion and caramelized onion. I didn't see it until later but you can add bacon. As much as I loved this burger, bacon would totally take it up a notch! I started chatting with the bartender about their different beers and decided to have the Super Melodious Jalapeño Maibock with the burger. It's soooo different, but in a good way. We visited on a Tuesday morning around 10:00am and were seated right away. The menu focuses on farm to table California style cuisine and it certainly delivered. We started with their apple coffee cake which was crumbly and gooey at the same time, with perfectly cooked apple chunks, a delicate, crumbled topping and a perfectly oil-glazed exterior. We each ordered their daily quiche, one vegetable based and one meat based. Truly my only complaint was this was more of a frittata than quiche given there was no flakey, buttery crust to support the eggs, however, the dish was still delicious. My red pepper and white cheese slice was hot, rich and bouncy with impeccable flavor and texture. The meat quiche was well received by my dining partner as well. And how can I forget the side salad? Probably amongst the most impressive I've tasted...shaved brussel sprouts, kale and cabbage make up the simple base with a caper vinaigrette that provides a umami hit to balance out the soft, rich egg bake. On top of it all, the woman who managed the cafe popped by our table a few times to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. Listen... 5 stars is not enough. It's just not. If you've been thinking about going--THIS IS YOUR SIGN. Go. I promise you won't regret it

I had the Goddess chicken sandwich made into a salad and added tomatoe and cucumber. The salad was so fresh and tasty. Service was good and staff were very polite. I only wish they offered more beverage options like sugar free. They also had cute little boutique items staged for sale. Nice items but definitely not worth the price. There was a butterfly picture frame for $80. I'm certain I can find it on Amazon for $10. Lol Otherwise nice place. Theres also a nice little outdoor seating area. Perfect for catching up with friends, lunch with co-workers or solo time.

Moreover, the overall vibe was really nice and inviting. Furthermore, I ordered the hot honey chicken, which was good but not great since the chicken was a little burnt, although the portion size was generous. In addition, I got a lemonade which was refreshing and tasted great. On top of that, the customer service was decent I wasn't greeted when we walked in, but we were helped pretty quickly. The place was also very neat and clean, which is a big plus for me. Overall, it's a solid spot if you're in the area and looking for something quick and affordable.

We were so happy with everything! Our server was wonderful! The entire staff was so friendly and on top of their game! We never waited for anything. They were immediately refilling our waters, offering more bread, removing dirty plates, replacing silverware, and offering the next course. It was perfect! The views!!! I think there's not a table in NoMi that doesn't have an amazing view. The main, large window faces the lake (East). Arriving just at 7, you get the full affect of the city, and lake, and then the sunset and lights of the buildings. It was absolutely magical. I couldn't get enough of it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean, but honestly it could have been a pit and I wouldn't have noticed. You'll be focused on the views for the entire evening. The food!!! Everything is very fresh. It's all well-prepared. Everything was delicious. There's a good variety of dishes to choose from. Plenty of healthy, low-carb options. We each ordered our own appetizers. I had the crispy Maitake mushrooms and my husband had the mussels. We both loved our food and left nothing on our plates. Excellent choices, that we highly recommend. As our main course we shared the sushi platter. The seafood was fresh and the sushi didn't have too much rice. It was the perfect amount of food with our appetizers. They have an extensive wine and drink menu. For drinks I had a glass of the Sauvignon blanc and my husband had a red blend. For dessert we weren't really hungry enough to eat anything else but my husband wanted a pallet cleanser. They have a few sorbets. My husband settled on the cherry cola sorbet. They brought it out with a little chocolate that said "Happy Anniversary" in French. They did not add it to our bill. Very sweet of them. It was probably one of the best anniversaries we've ever had. The bill was about $230 before tip. We highly recommend coming here for any special occasion.

Originally on a mission for a smoothie, I was greeted by a friendly staff member and a much larger menu than expected. There is a slew of inventive food that all looked amazing, ranging from sandwiches to noodles and sushi. I opted for the Maca Picchu smoothie, a mini cranberry muffin, and an empanada. I was blown away by how flavorful everything was! The smoothie was creamy, lightly sweet, and very refreshing. The mini muffin tasted like a firmer version of edible cookie dough and was a perfect sweet treat. The empanada was not crunchy, but it was flavorful and the vegan cashew cream was incredibly smooth. I was really impressed not only by the taste of the food, but the texture and presentation as well. There is a level of detail and care that is apparent and really exceptional. Consider me a fan- I'm already looking forward to not only the next visit, but to bring more plant-based meals into my kitchen as well!
