Bucket Hat And The Veggie Burger
    Steve A.

Checked out this hip looking brewery. It certainly is one of the many places to go to in The Loop. Industry Ales is a place that has a lot more than just beers, which is a good choice, because there's all kinds of people who crowd in and want to have fun times. Amazing that fun isn't always beers and chugging. The food is actually good and can be talked about in reviews because some people actually come here to eat, which tells you how they actually have a kitchen. Believe everything is good here but we came for the beers of course. It's certainly the main product made here so why wouldn't it be important. They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. It's located at the intersection of Jackson and Wabash close to lots of fun. The brewery has food that's better than expected but many other things about this kind of stuff are typical.

So glad my friends suggested this place! I work in the loop so rarely do I want to come back to the neighborhood on the weekends or late night for dinner. But I will say I am definitely wrong! Came here on a Friday with a large group of friends for dinner and some drinks. The beers and cocktails were awesome and unique, but the food truly stole the show! I chose a special for that day, which was the Brisket Tacos, and OMG. These things were incredible! Not to mention so much food for one person (who doesn't love leftovers?!) We could not stop raving about how great everyone's meal was. Downstairs a bit later they had a live band performing, and it got packed pretty quick! But overall I'll definitely be making another stop here soon to check out their happy hour!

We were craving some draft beer and decided to check out industry ales. They have great options and we decided to start off with a flight and the potato samosas. The flight was great! We tried different hazy ipa, pilsners, stouts and ales. The one that stood out to us was the petal to the metal. It was a nice cocoa and smoky flavor profile. We decided to order more apps. We got the beef skewers, Mac and cheese and the grilled asparagus. The food was delish! Overall, a great indoor brewery with tons of seating and open concept with modern ambience in the heart of the loop. Loved it!

Industry Ales is a cool space with great food. The main area is quite loud so be prepared to speak up! I was expecting a more of a brew pub vibe when I went and I was surprised that it is restaurant that takes its food seriously. The chef is inspired by his European heritage and has some very unique dishes. We tried the seasonal squash pierogies and they were delicious. The burger was very good, though Chicago is making burgers a competitive sport now, so there is no shortage of great burgers in the city. I highly recommend checking out Industrial Ales!

Stopped here to grab a bite and watch some games. The burgers were pretty delicious. I had the smash burger and honestly it made me crave more because it was so good (I added the brisket bacon and I do not regret it). "The Burger" was a little less exciting but still good! I just felt that it was a little dry. The drink menu was very unique and the beer was good as well! I didn't get a picture of the spicy salmon roll but it was HUGE! I wish they did a little better with the proportion of how things were filled inside though (I'd give it a 3.9/5). Service was great, our waitress was very attentive and brought us anything we needed. The ambiance was cool; it gave me upscale sports bar vibes.

Finally stopped by on a Saturday night - the loop was sorely missing a good brewery for many years and Industry Ales has luckily stepped in to fill that niche. My friend and I didn't have a reservation, but had no problem grabbing 2 seats up at the bar. Great spot to post up apparently because we met 2 of the owners - one was working behind the bar and gave me a passionate explanation when I asked about one of their ales. All of the service we encountered was great. For beer, I tried a flight to get a good sampling, and the Disco Helmet was my favorite. For food, I went with the mussels but they were just ok - still mourning the loss of the amazing mussels at Fisk&Co (rip). Overall, it was pretty busy with a mixed crowd and good vibes, plus they just happened to have live music going which was fun. I'll definitely be back!

Hidden gem under the El tracks on Wabash. Have been wanting to try this place for a while and glad I finally had the chance. Wonderful staff with attentive service! The inside is surprisingly nice for a brewery with really nice decor throughout. The beers were really good and they brew on site which is really cool. Pro Tip: location very close to grant/millenium parks. If you're a tourist forget the traps on MI ave and walk a couple blocks to experience real Chicago!

Well, this was disappointing. Big place, almost empty on a Saturday night was the first bad sign. I had the special called a Tokyo burger. No idea what Tokyo had to do with it. Double patty cheeseburger cut in half and placed face down in a pool of beer cheese in a hot skillet. The cheese absolutely overwhelmed everything, and not in a good way. Donna had "the burger", not pictured. She was not impressed, but I liked it better than mine because you could actually taste the beef. The menu said hand cut fries (which were not included with the burgers). When asked if that meant fresh cut, the server said they were not, but were really good. They were not. Beers were just fine, but I saw no evidence of a brewery in the place. Lastly, if you pay North of 20 bucks for a burger, it should come with fries!

Fantastic spot to chill outside (weather permitting) or inside. Loved being outside on the patio. Beer- one of the best in Chicago. The Hazy IPA was amazing. I got it as part of my flight but couldn't just stay with the 4oz and needed to add another 16 If you are near this area, do yourself a favor and stop by!

The Out of Focus IPA is excellent! - A beer flight with four small glasses of beer, each with foam, is arranged on a metal tray at a bar or brewery.
    Audra M.

I thought this place was just OK. I did like the beers in our flight, but none of them were memorable. The place is very loud, and the beer flight glasses were covered in beer as they seemed to have an issue with foam on the day we were there. Not sure if that's an all-the-time thing or not. We sat in front of some taps, and bartenders were over-filling glasses to rid them of foam, making for a lot of spillage on the glass exteriors. The interior is gorgeous, lending to a very upscale vibe, which is really cool.

A serving of baked meatballs in a creamy sauce with red pepper slices, presented in a small cast iron skillet on a plate, with a drink and table setting nearby.

My friends and I visited Industry Ales for apps and drinks at 9pm on a Friday night. We originally made a reservation, but you should be fine also trying to do a walk in. Every single member of the staff at Industry Ales was friendly and accommodating. They really have some amazing people on their team. Even though this place is a brew-pub, they also have a full line-up of craft cocktails in addition to their beers. My first cocktail was the Interwar and this cocktail featured ingredients such as scotch, luxardo, and ginger. It is a great summer cocktail. My second cocktail was the Route 66 and I loved the tiki flavor profile. This one was my favorite out of the two, but both were excellent. To eat, I tried the albondigas. This dish consisted of meatballs over grits. The meatballs were tasty. The one thing that missed the mark for me was the grits. The grits were so thin and watery. I'm not sure if this was on purpose or not, but I think that thicker grits would have worked better.

He was so attentive but gave us space to enjoy our meal. We tried both their seasonal Kolsch and Pilsner and they were so drinkable and went down smooth with our meal. We got the Reuben egg rolls to start and my husband, who is a huge fan of Reuben's said this may be his favorite rendition! He ordered the proclaimed "best burger in Chicago" and agreed it was absolutely delicious. He liked that the bacon was ground into the beef patty for an evenly distributed smoky flavor. I had the falafel wrap which was so good with crisp, cold salad with tzatziki and warm falafel all rolled into a wrap for a delicious, handheld meal. Inside, you can see their beer vats as part of the decor as well as many pieces of artwork featuring their fuzzy Giant. It's a fun atmosphere and I would recommend it! I have had a favorite taco spot for the past few months, but this place honestly raised the bar. They are known for their fried cheese tacos and they absolutely live up to the hype. The shrimp was delicious and the sauce reminded me of a seafood boil, rich and flavorful. The salsa verde was also great. I also had the fries topped with fried cheese, cilantro, and onions, and they were just as good. Everything smelled amazing and everyone at the table loved their food. One thing I really loved is their drink options. They have great cocktails, but also offer well crafted mocktails that feel just as intentional. On top of that, they have THC and CBD drinks, which really adds to the relaxed, laid back vibe. Overall, it is a great place to sit, hang out, and enjoy good food and drinks for as long as you want. A server brings you upstairs to the dining area. There is a mixture of two and four tops in the space and our table had a handwritten note congratulating us on our anniversary. Our seat allowed both of us to have a view of the kitchen window to watch the chefs prep courses. There were 3-4 servers that serviced the entire dining room and rotated in presenting dishes. They started with warm towelettes to wash your hands which was a nice touch. Service level throughout was impeccable with water refills, explaining the menu, delightful demeanor, fresh silverware per course, and wiping the table clean from anything that dropped. This was certainly one of the best hospitality levels at a one star I've experienced. Dinner was 12 courses including the amuse-bouche and final treats. There was not one course that didn't offer bright, fresh flavors. The presentation of plates were beautiful from every angle. It's hard to pick any top dish as everything was unique and special in their own way; but I am still thinking about the Crab Bite, Sablefish, and Pasta Course.
