Met some friends here for dinner and overall had a good experience despite a mix-up with the food. Our server accidentally got part of out order wrong and brought out the wrong dishes for two of our friends. This caused a bit of confusion and an extra wait before everything got sorted out. To their credit, they apologized, and brought our table a complimentary round of drinks, I had the pork belly sandwich with fries, and it was really tasty. The food here is really good. I ordered the fish and chips and it was perfect. I love when fried cod does not have too much batter, that perfect balance of fish and the breading is key. A nice spot for an outdoor dinner and drinks! I didn't get to see the inside because I was with my dog, but the outside is cute with a bunch of tables by the front door. They have a nice selection of beers that seem to rotate seasonally, so if that's your thing, this may be a cool place to try. I got an Austrian beer and was happy with it! The cheese curds were pretty tasty, but I would split them with someone next time and not necessarily get them for just me. The wedge salad was just kinda meh. Staff were extremely friendly, checking in without bothering us either. Got the burger and lumpia. As a Filipino, the lumpia meat filling was yummy n juicy but it didnt cut it for me. Im overly biased with that though, growing up with it. I appreciated the spicy suka/vinegar tho! The burger was good but nothing special, I'm not usually a big burger fan but my friend wanted to split. I also prefer steak/thick cut fries and they do tiny straw fries. We've been to Alulu countless times! They have an extensive food and alcohol menu, including draft cocktails. They have plenty of tequila/mezcal options, which makes me happy! And they have a variety of great beer, which makes my husband happy. They have seltzers, wine, some cider and non-alcoholic beverages. There's literally something for everyone! We've had a lot of the food and it's all solid. Pizza is Detroit-style. If you're craving a burger, you've got options and you won't be disappointed. Fish and chips (a special right now) were great - super fresh. They have a wonderful outdoor patio, dog-friendly, that is currently closed for winter. They share the patio with the sushi place next door, so there are even more food and drink options! It's a little small inside Alulu, but there's a fair amount of seating, including the seating upstairs. We've never had trouble finding a table. Inside, the music is very loud and they aren't able to turn it down (we asked). Overall servers are suuuuper friendly and cool. We've always had a great experience. Highly recommend, especially if you're hanging out with people with a variety of dietary preferences. read more

Great spot for an outdoor dining experience. We arrived and were able to seat ourselves. The service was excellent and our waiter was very nice. It did take a bit for the food to come out. We ordered the burger because it was their special for the evening at $10 and their pepperoni garlic flatbread at $18. Burger was amazing - loved the pickled onions and the garlic aioli sauce. The fries were a bit small and seemed like we got the bottom of the fryer. The flatbread was good but nothing special - Very cheesy which I liked - a good thick crust and a lot of pepperonis Overall a lovely place and I will definitely be coming back. Alulu is yet another brewery. It kind of fits in with the festive atmosphere in Pilsen. Lots of crowds all the time. Has a more intimate area at the bar for a cozier experience. The prices are kind of high on beer, and the food prices are even higher. For sure I won't complain too much about the prices, because these aren't like these are higher than many other craft breweries. It did make us not get as much as we wanted of course. There was a lot of good things to choose from. Hard choices. The beers are the main thing. It's about $8 a pint. Kind of a lot even at a craft brewery it seems. I had the Aldona. It's a farmhouse ale with green peppercorns and strawberries. Good beer. This had a hotness and sweetness. As for the good, we got the Vegetable Lumpia. It's $12 for a big portion. This is a whole lot of vegetables such as carrots, chickpeas, kale, oyster mushrooms, and potatoes. A lot to eat. This made the prices seem not as bad, so good stuff. Has many beers and good food to choose from. It has an indoor bar and the outdoor patio. There can be long wait times especially on weekends. read more

Food was overall decent but the vibe was questionable. I went to alulu on a thursday night. when we arrived, we went into the main restaurant and the music was very loud. The bartender asked if we wanted to sit outside. We decided to even though it was cold because the music was obnoxiously loud, and one of the people i was with is deaf. Our server later explained to us that the bartender is the type to want his music playing very loud which was a little off putting especially because it was pretty late and it wasn't very busy. All of the food was pretty good! The cheese curds were a little greasy but the texture and flavor was really delicious. the impossible burger was really good too (the garlic aioli is perfect). The wings were a little bit dry though and the egg rolls had a lot of meat and not much else in it. I would still consider this place worth checking out, just maybe not the wings/eggrolls. read more

Got 2 stouts. I love stouts even in the summer time!! The Mount dwelle plus the Kontra Kavi. They were tasty, hearty beers! Opened up the meal with some cheese curds that shared with friends. Absolutely scrumptious. For entree went with Filipino ribs. Which was my first time ever having and I'd get it again. Came with rice and a kale salad. Salad had some kind of dressing + vinaigrette. Tucked in a Pilsen alley you can find Alulu and their delicious list of beer options. I've been to Alulu a couple times and the beers are delicious. My favorite is the Bayto Maxa, if you like fruit and spice, you'll love this. The atmosphere is a little divey but slightly elevated. My friend and I sat at the bar and the service was good. Had a get together at this location. While waiting to sit, I approached a young g man at the head of the bar. I told him we had a reservation for 10. He rudely said, "I know" and turned his head to the table. Never asked if we wanted to be seated. We moved to our table and it seemed that we had two staff waiting on us. Not sure who was our actual server. We ordered appetizers for the table. First order came and it was incorrect. The wings were delicious. Grilled peppers were delicious. The zucchini frites were really tasty. The inside seating was small. I think they are more known for outside dining. Overall it was pretty good. I was just turned off by the initial interaction. I came in from the suburbs to attend this dinner but I wouldn't be interested in returning. read more

My goodness this was good! This quite possibly could be the second best Brewpub I've been to in the city! While it's on the smaller side, they make up with their food and beer. I got the Dunkle and the Mexican Lager. Both were excellent, but I was especially pleased with the Mexican Lager. I heard that this style is typically the brewer's beer and this was no exception. There was so much care put into this brew! As for the food, also excellent. The beer bread is amazing! I tried it plain and with the pork belly. I actually prefer the plain version slightly because it isn't as heavy. Very nice garlic honey butter with it as well and just enough dil to make it pop! I went with the spicy chicken sandwich which was underrated spicy, but wasn't a glopy mess. The fried chicken sandwich had dry spices and a bit of garlic aioli. Kept the sandwich together and not a mess. The onion dip that came with the fries was also excellent. The service was also surprisingly good! We were a pretty large group that kind of showed up unannounced (not that this place takes reservations). They treated us extremely kindly and helped us rearrange some tables to be more comfortable and safe. I do not know when I am going to be back in the area, but I am certainly going to check this place out. If you are a fan of OIB, you are going to love this quaint place. The only "downside" (which I didn't take off a star) is that they don't have any high chairs. I mean, its understandable, but it wouldn't hurt to have a couple just on hand. This is a great little spot. I love their drink menu. It's a brewpub, so obviously they have a good, varied beer selection--but they offer so much more than beer. They have wine and specialty cocktails, and plenty of interesting non-alcoholic drinks too! You could bring anyone to Alulu and they would be excited for their drink to arrive. They also have a stellar menu. Pizzas and burgers take up about 75% of their menu, but their options still aren't boring or expected. Of everything I've tasted here, my very favorite is their zucchini frites appetizer. Honestly, they did not need to snap so hard on these! My favorite thing about Alulu is it's great during COVID. Outdoor picnic tables at distances that are proper. I'm a fan of their outdoor seating. Honestly, staff was okay but I didn't get great vibes from them. I loved a good staff at a brewery so was slightly disappointed. I enjoyed my spicy chicken sandwich and it was indeed spicy for weaksauce me. Nothing mindblowing but I liked it. What will keep me coming back to Alulu are their Smoked beers. Smokeds are so hard to find out there and they had 2 on tap last time I went. One was an imperial smoked which was like heaven to me - pure campfire in my mouth deliciousness. My friends and I tried nearly everything on tap collectively and I found the rest of their beers to be just okay with the exception being their sours. I love a good IPA but my bias is sour & smoked leaning so I consider it a truly good beer if one of those genres blows me away.
