Went to watch the game. The vibe was cool. Music was nice. Staff attentive. However it did take long for my food but when it was delivered it was good. I saw other plates there that looked yummy I would go back. They had a lot of seating options to see a game. Nice cool spot.

This was my first time coming to New Line Tavern. A big shoutout to Mario and crew for handling all orders from the private event. The drinks were made perfectly and the food was DELICIOUS. I ordered the catfish and grits. The space was large enough to accommodate the large party and it was clean the staff came in timely manner to remove all trash and used plates. I hope to come back here on another visit to Chicago. Thank you once again.

Wonderful atmosphere! Good food! Great service! Convenient location with off-street parking! Welcoming owners & staff! Decent prices for food & drinks! My advice: Go & experience it yourselves!

En Fuego wings (what I ordered)

What I ordered vs What I got. Ordered the wings and it was not what I expected at all. Staff seems nice but probably won't return.

After a long day of working this place was close to my hotel and not ridiculously crowded. Bartender was attentive and detailed, burger was absolutely. Not much else on the menu sparked interest, there really wasn't anything unique that stood out. The volume of the music and tv was really difficult to any type of conversation.

We all ordered some drinks to start and I went with their twist on an aperol sprtiz (I don't remember the name.....) but its one of their specials that has aperol! And it was delish!!!! After that we got a bunch of bites to eat including some of the happy hour bites. We got the board which had a bunch of different dips of which each was great but have to admit the pimento cheese was my fave! Of course we had to get the parmesan fries and we decided to share the mac and cheese as well. Delicious bites! Our waitress was super great and checked in on us so we ordered a second drink an espresso martini! It was good, not the best I had so stick to the other drinks on the menu! Overall lovely place to stop in for a happy hour. Lots of TVs if you want to catch the game and they open the windows during nice weather. 10/10 if you are in the area!

Unfortunately, my experience at The Vig left me embarrassed, belittled, and questioning why I was treated the way I was. I walked in because the place looked good! We were ready to enjoy ourselves, order drinks, maybe some food, and see what all the hype was about. It was a busy Friday night before the Fourth of July. I understand busy. I'm patient. That's not the issue. After a few minutes, our server--a young blonde woman--walked over. Greeted Said "We've never been here before. Do we order through you, or is there a menu?" Instead of welcoming us, she acted like we had just asked her to solve a math equation. She snapped back, "Yeah, you order from me... or you can just go sit at the bar. So what do you want?" I honestly thought maybe I misheard her because... ain't no way that's how you greet people in an upscale restaurant. So I repeated again if we could get some water while we looked over the menu. That's when she looked me up and down and said, "If you're just going to order water and sit here for hours, you can't do that here." ......mind fcuced......thinking ......You don't know me. You don't know my wallet. You don't know whether I'm about to order one drink or buy the whole top shelf. But somehow, before I even opened the menu, you had already decided I was just there to take up space. Now, I can't say what was going through her mind. But I walked away feeling like she looked at me and immediately made assumptions about the kind of customer I was. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I wasn't. But perception matters, especially in hospitality. The ironic part? We still ordered drinks. We paid our bill. We tipped. That's just how I was raised. But here's the thing: I'll never spend another dollar there. The ambiance is beautiful, but customer service is what people remember. You can have fancy lighting, expensive cocktails, and Instagram-worthy décor, but if your staff greets paying customers with suspicion instead of hospitality, all that elegance goes right out the window. Do better, The Vig. Because first impressions don't just matter--they're expensive.

There is an upstairs area that's a little more loungier whereas the downstairs can get more rowdy on game day. We came during the championship game, and this was the perfect spot to be. We came early to be able to snag some bar seats upstairs and enjoy multiple drinks and food. Drinks are great - some cocktails and beers are only offered downstairs. Food was a mix: Chimichurri cauliflower: smaller portion than I expected, nothing special I'd skip this dish. Ceasar salad: dressing is very heavy on the anchovy paste, otherwise good portion and veggies. Loaded fries: huge portion with lots of great toppings, though I wish their fries were more 'fry' like versus potato skin-like. Chicken tenders: I got this with sweet potato fries, and they were way too salty. The chicken tenders were 4 skimpy pieces of chicken, and I was charged for extra dipping sauces and ketchup. The spicy mango habanero and buffalo are good - skip the garlic parmesan. I will most definitely be back for the vibes, drinks, and service. I'm hoping the food is just working on some kinks and will get better the next time!

Every seat in the house has a good view of a widescreen TV with the game on. The bar has a cozy, casual vibe. On game day it's very loud; if you plan to chat with your group you'll be shouting to be heard! I highly recommend the chicken Caesar wrap. I had low expectations since this is a sports bar but this is probably the best chicken Caesar wrap I've had in my life. In light of how good this meal was I plan to return soon and try the rest of the menu. I also had a cocktail that was tasty and cheaper than some of the drinks on offer from nearby bars ($13).

There were a lot of TVs all around the bar, so you won't be tilting your head back to watch the game from any angle. Our server was new, but she did a great job with taking everyone's orders and also being very upfront about saying she will ask about the drafts on tap so she can give us an accurate drink selection. The food from Theory never disappoints. Last year, I had the Theory Burger and was delighted by how good it was. This year, I tried the Challah French Toast and it was pleasantly delicious. The Mac and Cheese was also a solid choice, and for $8, they provided a good amount of food! And that Chicken Parm Egg Roll...wow they were so good!! I was skeptical from the name, but this was like having a pizza roll but in egg roll form The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because Theory has severely up charged for the Champions League. I recall last year a reservation was $5/person, but this year they charged $15/person. For this reason, we came in at 9AM opening time for an 8-person table and were able to get one without having to pay the reservation fee. I really like how organized Theory is though, as a sports bar. Service has always been great and I may come again for another game!

If you've been to the old spot I'm talking about, you'll notice immediately that The Scout still has the beautiful, soaring ceilings, but they've also remodeled a chunk of the restaurant, which is great! We sat down pretty immediately at a table in the back of the restaurant - not too far from the (new) DJ booth, and our waitress was extremely kind and gave us prompt service. We were just hanging out, listening to the music, when the NFL Divisional playoff game that was on tonight came back on, and let me tell you, it was the loudest game audio I have ever heard in a bar, ever. I've been going to sports bars for most of my adult life, and I get that folks can get excited and loud and that's not what I'm talking about. The audio of just the announcers and players from the telecast were almost exceeding 100 dBA, slow, without the bar cheering. I've been an audio engineer for over 20 years, and that isn't too far off from the base level of what you'll experience at concerts at the United Center (102-110 dBA, slow). We asked twice if the zone that encompassed our area of the restaurant could be turned down - but nothing changed, so we took our food to go and left. It wasn't just "can't have a conversation" loud, it was "I can't think" loud. This place needs to do some system tuning (the example I'll give - if you go to a Yard House the environment is loud and lively but you can still hold a conversation at your table because the audio system is extremely well tuned). The food that we ate when we got home (Kids mac n cheese and buffalo wings) were exceptional, so that's why I'm not leaving a single star. I don't know if we'll be back, I was incredibly disappointed tonight.
