Went there for lunch for the second time yesterday, and I still think this place is underwhelming. The food takes long, and when it finally arrives it falls flat. The place is understaffed so the 1 or 2 waitresses that you see are always rushing off to the next table. I tried 90th Meridian Kitchen & Bar for the first time Wednesday for lunch - pretty good place! It's a smaller sit down restaurant with a bar great for work lunches, on the bottom floor of the building it's in. I had the portabello mushroom wrap and that was very tasty! Massive portion size and it comes with fries. Our waitress was very friendly as well. I recommend if you have time for a sit down lunch on Lasalle. read more

My company had a little happy hour here. It was pretty empty on a Thursday evening, just us there. There were some catered food, which included some sandwiches, pizza and a charcuterie board. The sandwich I ate was the beef sandwich and added some giardiniera. The beef sandwich was actually good! It was a slider size and had good flavors. The cocktails, I got a lemon drop and it was definitely strong. 2 of these gave me a good buzz. Their other cocktails were good too from what other people said. Had pretty great drinks and food at this upscale place in the Loop. It's actually not that expensive when considering quality. 90th Meridian is located in the historic Central Standard Building at Jackson and LaSalle and is popular for lunch weekdays. Maybe the hours could be better, but it's good for downtown workers of course. There's a good variety to choose from including Italian and Mediterranean. A bad thing about it is the hours. It's only open Tuesdays to Thursdays for lunch into the evening and closes pretty early too. The restaurants in The Loop cater to downtown workers. Even so, the hours still are pretty limited. Last time around here it was open though. It's about $15 for a cocktail. Kind of a lot it seems, but not for around here. Since this is by the old Stock Exchange, the menu has a theme. I got the Closing Bell. This was made with Aperol, lime juice, luxardo maraschino, and Mezcal. Citrusy and sweet is a good way to describe it. The food was good too. It's about $15 for an entree. There's meats such as fish, and sandwiches. A lot to choose from. I got the Falafel Wrap. Big one. This had arugula, avocado, cucumbers, harissa hummus, and radish. The kitchen and service really did this place in. A group of five of us decided to grab lunch here, and the results were underwhelming. The majority of us ordered steaks, and they arrived overdone. My hubs received his steak late due to it not being cooked properly and they offered us a discount, but we said not to worry about it. After his steak arrived perfectly cooked, I joked that I should have asked for a discount off mine, since it was clearly well done and apparently they did have the ability to cook a steak medium rare. None of the ordered drinks were delivered, so we had to remind our waiter to bring them, and later had to ask to have them removed from the bill. The hubs was trying to decide between the gelato and cookie for dessert, and asked if the cookie would come out warm. He was told yes, but all the cookies arrived cold. I was the sole gelato person, and it came out significantly later than everyone else's cookies. Bottom line, if my steak arrived like my husband's, drinks weren't forgotten, and everyone's meals and desserts arrived on time, I could easily see wanting to return. Imagine your favorite airport restaurant. Now imagine it actually has good food and service. That pretty much sums up the look and feel of 90th Meridian. I was a little hesitant when this place opened up across the street from my office. The building it moved into, the Central Standard Building (formerly the Continental Illinois Bank Building), had been pretty barren for a while. After an apparent change in ownership, the building was seeing a revitalization of businesses, such as the wildly-popular Naf-Naf that opened across the hall. I came here one day for lunch just to see what it's about. I was happy to see the full bar and ample seating. Our server was extremely friendly and happily recommended some of their local beers. Unfortunately, they don't list what the frequently-rotating beers are on the menu, so you have to ask every time. As for the food, it's delicious! I got the cheeseburger the first time I came, and the chicken wings the second. The fries that come with the burger are extremely addicting, reminding me of the Crack Fries at Hopcat. The wings were tasty, but a pretty small portion. My only complaint here is that the food is pretty pricey, even for the Loop. Surprisingly, the payment portion here is fun. If you are splitting a check among the table, you can do it all yourself on a handheld device the waiter gives you. This allows you to split payment by certain items and pay right there on the device. I recommend this place for the food mostly, but they also have some good daily specials (such as half priced bottles of wine). If you are in the area, give it a try! read more

If you are looking for a new and nice spot to grab a bite to eat that feels completely different than anywhere else in the Loop, you must try 90th Meridian. It serves delicious food via friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. Anyone that has worked, or even simply walked through, the 231 LaSalle building will wonder, as I did, how or where a restaurant could go...? Right on the ground floor, smack dab in the middle of the building. The dining room is a wonderfully open and inviting atmosphere that has plenty of seating inside and "outside". In fact, you can't help but feel like you're dining in an airport, only better: there is zero stress about keeping an eye on the time and no dread about having to be shoehorned into a germ-ridden cigar tube with wings. Plus, the food is leaps and bounds better than any airport restaurant I've ever been to (although DFW's airport is very close behind). In fact, my airport comparison ends here. The menu is small but has plenty of delicious options that make it very hard to choose. The Steak Frites was delicious and the Shrimp Po' Boy was amply sized and tasty. Both dishes came with fries and wow, they are fantastic. Also, I must mention that they have a solid selection of whiskey, including Pappy Van Winkle! Our waiter was one of the nicest people I've ever been served by, genuinely friendly and eager to please. He also perfectly balanced being available but not bothersome. The prices reflect the quality of food, level of service, and location - that is to say they are a bit higher than a "regular" lunch spot but right where they should be, all things considered. They do change a full drink price for a club soda, which is disappointing. Having been eager to try this spot since seeing the sign out front, I'm very glad I stopped in. Excellent service and drinks and very good food Our family came here for lunch recently and were very pleasantly surprised. The Roman Salad and Bahn Mi Dips were quite tasty and the loaded fries our son order were much better than (we) expected. For drinks, I had a local draft IPA (Maplewood) and my wife a can of dry hard cider - both were excellent. Our son had a pair of canned soft drinks - the Chocolate City Coffee and Golden Triangle Iced Tea - which were both too sweet for his taste. The service was exemplary (thank you Leah!) but the atmosphere was somewhat bizarre. Attractive place, not fast-food Loop, rather bankers making deals or finance department having a drink after work Loop, but not fully romantic by any stretch - go here because you're in the neighborhood and you want a nice place to be. Wonderful wife had the beet salad; I had the cracked pepper pasta. Both very good and a fair price for Loop. Sauvignon blanc from the menu was very good. Weller bourbon, on sale every Wednesday apparently, was meh. Laphroaig would have hit the spot for a few dollars more. Good music, reasonably attentive and very nice staff. I agree with the most recent reviewer. I visited this pre-COVID and it was better than it is now. I'm hoping that they will improve though as they are open for longer. A gentleman named Jim served me the first time and he was awesome but I doubt he is there anymore. One issue I have is that there are not a lot of wine choices. Another issue is that they used to be small plates and I remember having a large amount to choose from there (kind of tapas style) but now they have three shared plates and that is it. I recall they had this amazing nut mixture as a snack that was super good but now they don't have shared plates, whereas they kind of define themselves as that so it's a bit confusing. If you are going for that tapas vibe, have more wines by the glass and small, shareable plates. For what they have though, I think it's a good lunch option. I will say the steak salad was tasty and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The Roman salad was quite delicious as well. I just think there are more than enough decent lunch spots in that area and we don't need another one and they should bring back that tapas vibe that they originally had to stand out. read more

What a wonderful and hidden bar. This place is located in the Wintrust building near the Federal Reserve in Chicago. I came here for drinks after work one night and had a wonderful experience. I had a champagne drink that was phenomenal and we ordered sliders. The sliders were a fried chicken slider. They change the sliders daily. They were so good, we ordered more. At the end of the meal we opted for gelato. I had a honey peanut flavor that was amazing. The best part was meeting the manager Patrick. What a great person. He, along with our sever were incredibly attentive and treated us like VIPs. He got a round for our table because we were celebrating a friend's promotion. Been here a few times and is typically solid but my last visit was awful. I figure this last visit would be less than zero stars but considering other visits were good, it gets 2. This recent visit, I had the chicken wrap. Great portion but almost inedible. Clearly they cooked chicken on flat top with lots of oil and just scooped up all that oil with the chicken and then right into the wrap. Opened my box and there was my wrap bathing in a pool of oil. Make no mistake this oil wasn't from a dressing, tasted like burnt cooking oil. I salvaged what a could tossed most of it. Awful. read more

I've been going here since June and it's hands down become my go to restaurant! I've tried almost everything on the menu and I've thoroughly enjoyed each item. My favorite is either the Salmon Sandwich or the Tso Chicken Sandwich but I've heard the Banker's Burger is the best burger by far. Our first stop in Chicago did not disappoint. We came for dinner after a long day of travel. It was a group of 8 of us and a baby. The service and food was excellent. Our server was professional and very friendly. I didn't catch his name but he mentioned he was from hawaii. The manager on duty, Sophia stopped by a few times to check on us and even recommended some places in the area. I'm so glad we ate here. The reviews don't lie and the food is top notch. The food here is not your standard "Loop Fare" but fresh, interestingly composed dishes. The ambiance is modern and there is space between the tables which means you're able to keep focused on your own conversation without bumping elbows with the folks next to you. It is very difficult finding restaurants that can accommodate business lunches and permit conversations at a non-shouting decibel level--THIS IS THE PLACE! I hate to say this, but this place is not what it used to be...before Covid the food was amazing...we would come here from across the street and have nachos weekly. The restaurant is, and has always been, very clean, beautiful decor, comfortable chairs, nice staff especially the young lady at the front that seats you, but the food has been not good...some coworkers and I have been here several times since they re-opened and it's just not good for the price. We have all tried several things and it's just not good. Chicken wings are weirdly large and one had a feather still in it, asked for them to have extra sauce and was charged for the sauce, all the chicken sandwiches are chicken thighs but are strangely dark inside...yes, I know thigh meat is dark meat but they just weren't very tasty and looked too dark. $7 for a watered down lemonade...just not worth the $50 bill for an appetizer and a sandwich and one non-alcoholic drink. I can't say anything but nice things about the staff, the waiter was attentive but unfortunately the food doesn't match the staff and the ambiance. read more

Garbage. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap for lunch, because 90th Meridian has just started a partnership with my building which has signs everywhere promoting their service. It says on the sign that orders placed before 10am would arrive at noon, I got a call about 10 minutes early, 11:50 notifying me that my order has arrived. I was hoping since it arrived early, and that the restaurant was only 1 block away, that the wrap would be hot and fresh. It was not. Not only was it cold, but of the "chicken" in the wrap, it consisted of about 90% breading and about 10% chicken. The blue cheese in the wrap was good, and the sauce as well I must say. But the chicken itself was so bad, I had to pick through all the breading and once I was finished I had a pile of breading and extra tortilla wrap on my desk. I went to 7/11 and got an Apple because I was still hungry. Worst $12 I have spent on lunch since I started working downtown 7 years ago. read more

Met a friend for lunch as I was dying to check this place out. The location is in a great spot as there isn't many restaurants of this type in this area of the south loop. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. The menu is interesting and contains something for everyone. My friend got the Cheeseburger while I went with the Bumpy Salad. Both our meals were delicious and the tuna on the salad was excellent. I was a bit jealous after seeing the hamburger and the HUGE amount of fries that came with it. I did sample the fries and agreed with my friend that they were really good. I will come back for lunch but also want to try out their happy hour drinks and shared plate options. read more

Today was my first time at this restaurant and I order the BLT salad. It's a BLT salad with a twist, as it's a little different. I felt the croutons were too large and tasteless, but the rest of the salad was good especially the stewed tomatoes. When I returned to work and told my food buddy where I went for lunch and that the ambience and the music was great, we've decided to bring the rest of the foodie-gang back after work for food and drinks. I do not know where to start...Shall I talk about the service or the food? Both were exceptional. I do not write that many reviews on YELP, but I feel compelled to do so after our fantastic experience this evening. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the host. We had wanted to sit at the bar, but there was only 1 seat. We decided to take it (as my husband was willing to stand..) Within 1 minute 2 staff members arrived with a chair for my husband. The bartender greeted us warmly, and we chose to have one of the unique cocktails. I had the seasonal Gin and tonic with strawberry and basil infusion. So refreshing! My husband had a tequila drink called "Estandar Central" which was also quite delicious. We decided to have the Artichoke dip with fried pita. It arrived at the table sizzling hot. We were told that if we needed more pita chips, to just ask and they would make it happen. The dip was so delicious, we decided to order dinner. My husband had the fired chicken. His plate arrived with 4 pieces of fried chicken that looked amazing! To say it was delicious would be an understatement. The chicken came with a macaroni side and 2 dipping sauces. I had the hanger steak salad. The flavor of the meat accompanied with such fresh ingredients was absolutely delicious! Now I need to talk about this staff. They were unbelievable. I accidentally dropped my napkin, and a staff member was there, almost like magic with a new napkin that actually was better than the first one, as I had a black dress on. My husband dropped a utensil, and again a staff member came by with a replacement. They were so attentive that I joked that maybe we should drop something else to see how fast someone would come to our side. But seriously, the people that took care of us were not only efficient and polite, but they were genuinely nice- and not in a phony way. This type of service was so appreciated I had to write this Yelp review. So thank you, I asked for the staff members names, as I wanted to acknowledge them.
