LG's is a typical Old Town bar. The bar itself is huge which is nice and there are plenty of tables and large booths surrounding it. There's not anything overly remarkable about it. They have a decent selection of beer on draft as well as cocktails. The cosmo I tried was surprisingly good. The food is OK. Some things are good (pretzel, chili) and some things leave a lot to be desired (Irish specials for st Patrick's day). What a surprise!! The service is phenomenal and I'm not sure why more people aren't talking about this place because it's home to the BEST burger I've had in my two years in Chicago!?!?? Bursting with flavor , served with fries, and cooked perfect, the bacon jam burger is EVERYTHING I needed and have missed in a burger! The food is delicious, but service was so off yesterday. I ordered a cosmo; it was just awful. Like lukewarm citron vodka with a dash of food coloring. When our waiter came back i asked if i could get a new drink (honestly, didn't even care about a refund, just hated the drink). When he came back after consulting his manager, he said his manager suggested i pour in this mystery mixture of triple sec and cranberry juice and see if the drink tastes better. Literally what??? Why am i making my own drink?! Bizarre. I told him it was ~fine~ with the added mixture, but not great. He said "awesome!" and we barely saw him the rest of the night. Weird, weird, weird vibes there yesterday. I am never one to leave a smaller tip, but the service was frankly the worst i'd had in a while. The food was great though. Hats off to the kitchen. Came on a Saturday evening. A little crowded, but not crazy. The service was a bit slow, but I understand, it was busy. The food was decent, but I wasn't overly impressed. The cocktails were great, however! I had the Cool as A Cucumber. It was super refreshing! The decor in the place is great... old timey photos of prohibition times, etc. The furniture is actually really nice. Seating was very comfortable. I just wish the food was something I could be excited about. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad. While it was good, it was not really outstanding. I got the drive thru burger and it was really goodddd! The burger was juicy and flavorful, would definitely come back for it. I didn't try any cocktails, but the bar was fully stocked. We didn't have a reservation and was seated immediately. Place is spacious and nicely decorated. I liked the Mona Lisa animation at the bar, hehe. Sitting on outside their entrance was great. We could hear the music from inside, but it wasn't too loud. LG's is right on Wells St. so it was pretty busy all around LG's, but our picnic style table outside wasn't disturbed at all, it was a great experience. Our food and drinks were very yummy. The salad was huge and super filling. It had lots of good toppings, my favorite was the giant shreds of parm & the craisins. My friends all got the steak wrap which looked perfectly cooked. We came for trivia, and the prices, ambiance and food were all amazing for a fun Thursday night! I started with a casamigos margarita that was on special for only $10! It was delicious and so was my Prosecco that I had next. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip, which was delicious with good crispy fried tortilla chips too. We also got the wedge salad, which had way too much dressing but delicious other than that. The portion was huge too, especially for the price. We also got Buffalo bone in wings, which surprisingly was more pricier than the other dishes but tasty and very good bar wings. I'm glad we came - it was a fun time with great food. read more

A nice spacious bar with a decent selection of bar eats, drinks, and activities. I've been to LG's twice--once for trivia night which is does pretty well and another for dinner. During regular nights, they'll have a bunch of TVs playing sports games and will be blasting music. I enjoy the type of music they play so I was enjoying it but probably not the most conducive place to have a conversation. I feel like this place has great potential to have a dance floor late at night but like most places in Old Town people don't really dance. They have fantastic happy hour/weekly special deals which are super worth it. Their tailgate tray on Thursdays is 10/10 value. If you order any appetizers you have to get the cheese curds! Great spot for brunch! I was taking a walk around Lincoln park this morning and decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! I ordered the small portion of the biscuits and gravy which was still a lot of food! It came out extremely quickly and was absolutely delicious. I ended up just sitting at the bar which was very nice. The place wasn't too loud and had lots of TVs to watch the games. They're also very accommodating on what you want to watch. Stumbled across LGs today while walking around old town. I was so surprised to realize it was a sister restaurant of Wilde in Lakeview! Love them! Saw another review about thievery on here as well: Went out to this bar with some friends a couple months ago. We got a table at a booth and were occasionally getting up to get drinks/dance. I realized my phone was missing. I asked ALL STAFF at the bar if they'd seen my phone. Security was snarky and unhelpful. The last staff member I talked to was the busser who was cleaning empty drinks off tables. When I approached him he said he "wasn't allowed to disclose that type of information and didn't know anything about a phone." After several attempts to get him to go check "the back" for my phone, he finally brought it out and was "suspicious" if it was mine or not. I had to ask him multiple times to put in my password so I can prove to him it was mine. This man was definitely trying to steal my phone. Never coming back. read more

We were told they were at "capacity"... if you've been at LG's you know it's simply impossible for that, and to "wait the f*ck outside because you can't wait here" As we go outside, 5 people are let right in... so we come back to ask why and the response, wish I was kidding, "since you guys are being such fucking assholes just come in" Anyone who has been in the service business knows they is not okay, better yet when being greeted.
