I've been walking past this place for like 10 years and finally went in, and honestly... I feel like I got mugged by a sticky-floor college bar. $18 mixed drinks, plus a 4% credit card fee, is wild for a place that feels like it survives on spilled beer, bad decisions, and trust funds. The happy hour is the best ticket. The beer was good tall frosty mug, I'll give them that. But anything beyond beer felt offensively overpriced. The food was good $19 for 9-10 wings were actually the best I have had in a while, smoked then fried tasty and the pork fries seemed good. The crowd was very North Shore college kid energy, like Dad's AmEx is somewhere in the room picking up the tab. Would I come back? Yes and because staff was way cool down to earth and that and wings sold me. Might make Big Daddy's occasional stop but not an everyday watering hole. read more

My husband and pups accompanied me to happy hour at Woodie's Flat. Dogs are allowed on their patio outside, as well as inside the restaurant! Happy hour is from 5-7 during the week, and they have great prices on drinks and special foods. We started with Fatpours, which are not on the happy hour, because we were feeling beers. Then, we got 2 items on the happy hour, their loaded nachos, and pretzels with beer cheese. Of course we had to order our favorite wings off the normal menu, including my favorite super buff sauce. Even with the sauce the wings are crispy. The burger was perfect and I am in love with their fries. We're either here, or order from here, every other week. I went here after a night. Event at Lincoln Park Zoo since it was close. It is a bar, and it gives bar vibes. It was tight on the level I was on, but they open up more levels if it gets busier I guess. The service was okay. They weren't the most attentive, and they forgot to bring a drink to one of my friends. She had to go to the bar to retrieve it herself. The wings were the star of the evening. I got chimichurri and garlic Parmesan. They were DELICIOUS. I even liked the ranch that they had on the side. The wings were not fried. I think they were grilled. I'm a fellow boneless wing lover, and I love all types of boneless wings, but I will say that the meat itself and the sauces here at Woodies were absolutely delicious, out beating lots of other boneless wings I've had. We got the buffalo and their famous garlic honey, both of which were great! I'd be excited to try more. In the single wing platter, we got about 12 wings. I will say that the prices are a bit higher, but it makes sense given the neighborhood prices, and the meat itself. They do have some great deals you can get during the 4th quarter of game days, so I will be back for sure for that. Staff were friendly, and the ambience was your typical sports bar! After the beach, we dropped in here to have wings and a beer. The wings were excellent. They are often hyped as one of the best wings in the city and I have to agree they are up there. They have a ton of different sauces. We went for half bourbon glaze and half buffalo. Both were really good but I think I liked the glaze better. The sweetness is perfect. Cool sports bar located near Old Town. It's an Ohio State bar, so ideal if you're looking for a place to watch any of their games. We went for the most recent OH St vs GA playoff game. It was packed and a very cool and fun experience, despite not having gone to the school. They had several drink options and deals. They had 22 oz draft beer pours, which I like as it's always a better deal. They had a decent craft beer selection too. Despite being crowded, servers all did a really good job getting our drinks to us. They actually have 3 floors of bars/seating, so the whole place is bigger than you'd expect. Super convenient location, and there was quite a few people in there considering it was a late Tuesday night. It was a super great start with happy hour and $8 drinks. The summer passion fruit daiquiri and the yuzu cocktail were good. The happy hour nachos were good but nothing special. We then ordered TWO orders of wings to go and they gave us ONE order of wings even though I paid for two. Unless 9 wings for $32 sounds like a normal portion (if it is, then still not worth it but they never tell you how many wings in a portion). This wasn't known until we were home because the bag was taped shut and we trusted they would give us the food we ordered. I know/think the kitchen was busy because the chef or manager had to talk to a table near us about their wait for food. Extremely disappointing. I went to the Wells Street Art Festival and had a great time! As the night wore on, so did a craving for a sit down meal! (Ode to my sad blistery feet) The guy at the door was super friendly, he actually said "hi there, welcome to Woodie's!" he was sending those that just wanted drinks upstairs to the big bar and was working efficiently freeing up space for folks like myself who came in hungry to get promptly seated and served down on the main level. Within minutes I had chilled water, a waitress greet me and since the QR code digital menu is cleverly divided between "Wings" or "Not Wings" it made it super simple to decide what to order. Woodie's is known all around the city for wings so Wings it was!! Tender, tasty and a solid 10/10 on satisfying my tastebuds ($13.99). You get to pick the sauce and I opted for the Nashville Hot & Sweet. A repeat for sure! I can only imagine how busy kitchen operations must be because the food came out super fast. Do they have a motto like don't leave the table hanging? I'd believe it if so. The friendly vibe didn't end at the door guy either. All staff was unmasked so you could see smiling faces happy to be back at work. Gah, I forgot how much I missed that. The music was happy too... I think maybe a retro 80's happy-go-lucky DJ spin. I loved it! Even my tired toes wanted to dance:) The only negative here is drunk patrons kept coming up to our table, leaving their empty glasses on our table and disappearing.... Uhmm seriously? Not cool. Maybe they need a trough for these clueless kids who never learned etiquette from their parents to properly dispose of their empty glassware. Also one bathroom and a big line to use it is a little ridiculous - especially when some are drooling drunk! This was my very first time here and I can acknowledge why some people like it but it's not my cup of tea. It was super loud and it was just giving off college bar vibe. BEWARE not for vegetarians/ pescatarians. I had to get a salad and remove the meat. My bf wanted to check it out and he didn't know that it didn't have any options for pescatarians like myself. Don't get me wrong, the salad was pretty good. I explicitly asked for dressing on a side but nevertheless it was still a solid salad. He enjoyed his food and ended up finishing my salad.
