Went to The Whale on a Friday afternoon and was able to get a seat outside. We tried the lobster tacos, chicken sandwich, and the petite tenderloin sandwich. The lobster tacos were delicious and refreshing. The chicken sandwich was good, but needed something a little extra. I added garlic aioli to it and it made it much tastier! The petite tenderloin sandwich was also very good. Service was fast, and all of the staff was lovely.

I made a reservation for 2 for 6 pm since the restaurant was new to me. It was not busy when I arrived and there was still an hour left of happy hour. The host seemed confused or unsure of things. We got a table outside and it took a very long time to have our server come to our table. The drinks were good. I had the North of Havana and it was refreshing. The bread and spreads were delicious with the roasted red pepper and walnuts as my favorite. The Sicilian crab cakes were my main course and they were delicious but quite small for over $30. I ordered fries and they were also very good. For dessert we ordered the Parrish pie. Very rich and sweet and reminded me of a pecan pie. I enjoyed the restaurant, menu, and food. The service was extremely slow for a non-busy Monday night. I'd return though because it was very good food.

Great restaurant with a well-rounded menu! Came for dinner on a Friday with two of my friends and it was a fun atmosphere, not too loud. Our server was fun and have great recommendations! The menu feels pretty classic new American with some southern nods but definitely lots of different options. Espresso martini was one of the best is had in a while. We split dishes - the steak frites, Cali-Lime salad, shrimp feta pasta, and sweet potato fries. The frites with the steak were perfect!!! And the salad was a great portion. Also ended with the pineapple upside down cake. Would definitely come back here!

We had a great time at brunch on Sunday at The Whale. First, let me start by saying that you are not limited to their brunch menu. You can all order off of any of the menus. We've been to this place before and all of the servers are very nice and helpful. It's a very lively spot with mimosa flights and towers. We started off with the deviled eggs and the crab rolls. Both were very good. We moved into the lobster tacos, my favorite. The heart of Palm salad was delicious. Drinks are tasty and I'm looking forward to trying the chicken and waffles next time.

I recently had the chance to visit The Whale and finally see what it's all about. For the longest time, I'd driven past but never had the opportunity to stop by--I'm so glad I did this time! We came for my cousin's birthday brunch, and she had a fantastic time. My chicken sandwich was delicious, the DJ kept the energy high with great music, and the whole vibe of the restaurant was lit. The servers were also super friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be coming back!

Very cool vibes with very in depth happy hour menu. No kids menu, but still family friendly as they did an excellent job concocting some kid friendly meals. Rory, our server, was on point. I heard about the burger, so I had to have it. Happy hour only $13 with delicious fries and garlic aioli. But the best part I think were the apps: dip/spreads, lobster tacos, oysters, and bacon deviled eggs.

Great ambience and menu for happy hour! The restaurant has ample seating and standing room to accommodate a large party. You can tell this is a popular spot for HH. We ordered various drinks and food options off the menu. The oysters were sadly very small, but still delicious. The most popular drink at the table was their pink/purple fruity drink. As for the service, it was very relaxed, which we expected for HH. We were seated for a couple of hours, but felt like we were able to order our next rounds in a reasonable time.

We were sat for 15* minutes without placing our order which was incredibly disappointing. We sat so long we had l to go as the hostess who our waiter was and even then it took another 10 minutes. I hope management fixes this issue. The girl that helped us out the first time came back to take care of us which was nice! Food was okay? I think the Vig is consistently better

Went here for brunch and had a great experience. Made reservations on the restaurants website. When we got there we were immediately seated. They a nice selection of brunch items. We enjoyed trying everything we ordered. The food was freshly prepared and tasted amazing. Our server was attentive and made good recommendations. The overall vibe is very family friendly and inviting. I would definitely visit this place again.

A five-star star for me reflects an ideal integration of great food, excellent service, wonderful cocktails, and a feeling of warmth, comfort, and pleasantness. Uki, our server, is excellent - attentive, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, provided prompt service with a positive attitude, and consistently delivered a smooth and enjoyable dining experience by actively listening to us. The space and ambiance feel inviting and comfortable, created by a well-balanced combination of elements like soft lighting, inviting decor, pleasant aromas, and comfortable temperature, all working together to create a relaxing and positive mood in the space, Food for me is integral to communicating with my tribe, breaking bread, sharing about our lives, and every dish, every morsel we shared was delicious, tasty, mouth-watering, enjoyable, palatable, delightful, and satisfying Buffalo fried cauliflower, Pimento Mac n' Cheese, dry-aged Tenderloin sandwich, steak & eggs, blueberry muffin iron skillet, shrimp-pork Grits, all recommended. I definitely will be back for more deliciousness

Everything is just decent. Drinks are worth the price only during happy hour and only 50% of that time. Crab cakes are dry, not worth $37. Whatever dressing on the greens is awful, and you cannot substitute the side.

I'm sold on this place based in aesthetics, but not all the dishes are meeting standards. We had reservations before hand. Parking can be a bit crazy. Loved the deviled eggs and Buffalos Cauliflower but the kale salad lacked some flavor. Cute spot for some bites and happy hour!

I love it here! It's so cute inside and the service is great. We loved everything we ordered. We were so stuffed by the time we left. I highly recommend going with a group so that you can share all the options. And the drinks are just phenomenal. There's definitely photo ops indoors and it's close to many cool spots. Can't go wrong with a stop at The Whale.

Yet, the bartenders greet us with such a warm and friendly energy that I know with absolute certainly that I have been a regular at this bar for years. Decades. Centuries. I know within my soul that this was my go-to bar in a past life (and hopefully in the next). Just as welcoming as the awesome people are the $1 PBRs and $3 shots of tequila. And of course they hand out free hot dogs every night at midnight, which in my (intoxicated) mind was cemented as the definitive Chicago dog, even if it comes with no toppings whatsoever. And fittingly complementing the amazing energy of the bar is a 10 hour Youtube video of that memed Ukrainian kid dancing at a club playing endlessly on the TVs. Rocking sunglasses and looking like a stud, absolutely grooving without a single care in the world, and effortlessly matching every single song on the bar's playlist. That kid truly embodies the spirit of this bar. No matter what day it is, what time of day it is, or who visits, the bar's energy always works. Vibing to Black Eyed Peas on a Monday night never felt better. Imma be... back one day, rest assured. I genuinely can't wait for the next time I'm greeted with, "Welcome back."

We sat in the back patio area. The patio was covered and heated, supposedly. It was cold back there to me. They have $30 bottomless mimosas for brunch from 11-3. I ordered the chicken sandwich and added an egg. I also had the hot tots that came with queso dip. The food was really good actually. The chicken sandwich surprised me at how flavorful it was. Service was okay. The kitchen seemed swamped, so it took awhile for food to come out. They didn't check on us super frequently. Overall, the food was good, and the people that I went with enjoyed the bottomless mimosa deal.

I mean, I really do try to stay up on the best restaurants in Chicago but I NEVER heard of it. When I reached out to a friend who is a popular food influencer , he never heard of it either, so we immediately made a date. My friend dropped me off at Daisies on a Tuesday evening, while he looked for a park. When I walked in, the ambience was so electric and enticing I just knew we were in for a treat. I couldn't believe how packed it was for a Tuesday, and when I was shown right to my table by the friendly hostess, I was even more impressed. When my date came in, our waitress appeared. She was beautiful, friendly and ready to show us a great time. She gave us the menu run-down, readily answered our questions and got the show on the road. For a cocktail, I ordered the Sour, in the Green, a delightful and refreshing blend of mezcal, soka, green strawberries and tarragon. My date, a beer lover, ordered the Moody Tongue pilsner and Spiteful IPA, which he loved. For apps, I was told the house-made ruffles with onion dip were a must-have but she said, unfortunately, they were out. Awww, bummer! However, she appeared moments later and said she was able to secure the VERY LAST ORDER just for us. Game? Who knows, but when that order was placed in front of us and we dove in, and were more than satisfied. Our other app were the delicious potted carrots...a puréed delight containing pickled carrots, duck fat, and gnoccho fritto. Yum! As for entrees, I ALMOST went with the duck bolognese but when she described it as an elevated Hamburger Helper, I quickly declined. I haven't made HH since...EVER, so I wasn't about to order it on a rare night out with an amazingly handsome man, so I went with the lamb sugo. And it was all that. He ordered rigatoni and let's just say it was out of this world. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. Service was on-point and everything one could want in a date night. I pride myself on choosing great restaurants and that's why I rarely leave bad reviews. Daisies lived up to its hype and I can't wait to go back!

The potato chips the dip came with were massive, fantastic, ruffle cut slices. Dip was good, trout roe ($18) gave it that extra pop of flavor. Our favorite dish of the night was definitely the beef tongue, so tender and balanced with textures and acidity. Mains were: Pappardelle (mushroom and carrot ragu) - I liked this best out of the three pastas, pasta was very tender. Cappelletti (beef, celery root fonduta) - felt a little under al dente in the sections where it was pasta pressed against pasta. The beef filling was on the average side, a simple, braised beef. Strozzapreti (duck bolognese + parm reggiano) - pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce leaned salty. Our half chicken arrived once we were finishing the pastas. Juicy and tender, with the fat/skin rendered out nicely. The sauce was good, but felt the chicken itself was lacking seasoning/flavor. The remaining duck ragu came in handy for extra saltiness. Finished the meal with the terrazzo cheesecake, and gelato scoop trio (roasted vanilla, peanut butter cookie dough brownie, and frutti di bosco sorbet). Cheesecake was light and wiggly, definitely contained some gelatin and cubes of strawberry jello; not too sweet. I enjoyed the peanut butter gelato the most, was very tasty mixed with the sorbet to make a little pb and j concoction. They also gave a little slice of chocolate cake as we were there for a celebration. Overall, appetizers were a hit, with the dessert coming in second, and entrees following thereafter. Was ~$240 w the included 25% service fee between 3 people. The food feels like 3.5 stars as the food was inconsistently good across courses, but the service/ambiance pushes it to a 4. Worth a try if you can get a reservation.
