The more I think about it, the more I realize I didn't really like it that much - mainly because there's no urgency or part of me that genuinely wants to return. Maybe going shortly after a trip to Italy ruined me a little lol, but I didn't fully understand the hype. The pasta was good, just not life-changing. I've honestly had better pasta elsewhere in Chicago. The agnolotti was my favorite. I liked the balance of flavors with the ricotta filling, although I thought the roe was a little unnecessary. It could've used a different topping or supplement that complemented the dish better. The pierogies were also pretty good. They had decent flavor and were cooked well (actually al dente, which I appreciated). The sauce itself was good, but it wasn't distributed evenly, so some bites had much more flavor than others. The carbonara was just okay to me. It lacked flavor, and I wish the sauce had been thicker and more cohesive. It broke. I did appreciate that the pasta was properly cooked, but overall, I thought all of the sauces could've been seasoned better. Daisies has an interesting set up - the dining area was divided by a cafe / bar area and the other side seemed more like a restaurant. We were seated in the area closer to the bar/cafe vibe which felt a bit segmented from the rest of the restaurant. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. We started with two appetizers - the porchetta di testa and cabbage with beef tongue. The beef tongue was tender, and the porchetta was perfectly sliced. We got two pastas - the cavatelli and pierogi. The pasta dough was excellent! Great al dente cooking. I could really taste the ingredients in each dish - I was curious about what the beer in pierogis sauce would do for the flavor and it was very nice! We noticed For drinks we got the mushroom sour and the fennel herb soda. The herb soda had a strong vinegary taste that overpowered the drink, so we couldn't finish it. The mushroom sour was very unique! A flavor I can't describe other than a salty umami you definitely have to try. If the pastas were less salty and the pop was less vinegary this would have been a 5! read more

Had a reservation 6pm on a Saturday. Such a cozy space with very friendly and attentive staff. Apps: Started with the French onion dip + smoked trout roe, and cabbage w beef tongue. The potato chips the dip came with were massive, fantastic, ruffle cut slices. Dip was good, trout roe ($18) gave it that extra pop of flavor. Our favorite dish of the night was definitely the beef tongue, so tender and balanced with textures and acidity. Mains were: Pappardelle (mushroom and carrot ragu) - I liked this best out of the three pastas, pasta was very tender. Cappelletti (beef, celery root fonduta) - felt a little under al dente in the sections where it was pasta pressed against pasta. The beef filling was on the average side, a simple, braised beef. Strozzapreti (duck bolognese + parm reggiano) - pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce leaned salty. Our half chicken arrived once we were finishing the pastas. Juicy and tender, with the fat/skin rendered out nicely. The sauce was good, but felt the chicken itself was lacking seasoning/flavor. The remaining duck ragu came in handy for extra saltiness. Finished the meal with the terrazzo cheesecake, and gelato scoop trio (roasted vanilla, peanut butter cookie dough brownie, and frutti di bosco sorbet). Cheesecake was light and wiggly, definitely contained some gelatin and cubes of strawberry jello; not too sweet. I enjoyed the peanut butter gelato the most, was very tasty mixed with the sorbet to make a little pb and j concoction. They also gave a little slice of chocolate cake as we were there for a celebration. Overall, appetizers were a hit, with the dessert coming in second, and entrees following thereafter. Was ~$240 w the included 25% service fee between 3 people. The food feels like 3.5 stars as the food was inconsistently good across courses, but the service/ambiance pushes it to a 4. Let me just say, I was blown away. My co-workers raved about this place and I was shocked I never heard of it. I mean, I really do try to stay up on the best restaurants in Chicago but I NEVER heard of it. When I reached out to a friend who is a popular food influencer , he never heard of it either, so we immediately made a date. My friend dropped me off at Daisies on a Tuesday evening, while he looked for a park. When I walked in, the ambience was so electric and enticing I just knew we were in for a treat. I couldn't believe how packed it was for a Tuesday, and when I was shown right to my table by the friendly hostess, I was even more impressed. When my date came in, our waitress appeared. She was beautiful, friendly and ready to show us a great time. She gave us the menu run-down, readily answered our questions and got the show on the road. For a cocktail, I ordered the Sour, in the Green, a delightful and refreshing blend of mezcal, soka, green strawberries and tarragon. My date, a beer lover, ordered the Moody Tongue pilsner and Spiteful IPA, which he loved. For apps, I was told the house-made ruffles with onion dip were a must-have but she said, unfortunately, they were out. Awww, bummer! However, she appeared moments later and said she was able to secure the VERY LAST ORDER just for us. Game? Who knows, but when that order was placed in front of us and we dove in, and were more than satisfied. Our other app were the delicious potted carrots...a puréed delight containing pickled carrots, duck fat, and gnoccho fritto. Yum! As for entrees, I ALMOST went with the duck bolognese but when she described it as an elevated Hamburger Helper, I quickly declined. I haven't made HH since...EVER, so I wasn't about to order it on a rare night out with an amazingly handsome man, so I went with the lamb sugo. And it was all that. We were super excited to try daisies and luckily got a reservation for Friday night. The ambience is simple yet elegant. The place was particularly loud that night. We quickly got seated and our server seemed pretty excited and helpful. We got some beer and decided to order the onion dip as our starter. It was soo tasty! Loved the ruffles chips with it. We then ordered the Pappardelle and the Rigatoni. The Pappardelle was out of this world and easily one of the tastiest pastas I have ever tried. Sunday Brunch is magnificent at Daisies. Our meal consisted of lots of shareables starting with their perfectly crisp breakfast potatoes. Full of flavor, soft in the middle and sprinkled with house cheese on top. For mains - we went all pasta - the parapadella was spot cooked and the mushroom Raghu was rich and delicious. I think Daisies lives up to the hype pretty well especially since their menus rotate and with how they source ingredients you can tell that this place has a certain quality and reputation that it continues to maintain. I had high hopes for Daisies and sadly at least for me it did not live up to the hype. Ambiance is beautiful and service was overall quick and efficient. Our server was quite friendly (but did not address the issue adequately). Sadly, I experienced an issue with the food. The famous onion dip was delicious. We ordered 3 different cocktails and they were great too. Our server recommended pierogi and said it was her favorite item in the menu. However, not only was it salty but the mussels were not properly purged. I got multiple rocks/ Pearl like things coming out of mussels. I informed the server about it after finding them from more than one mussel and she just asked "would you like another one made"- I don't think that would resolve the issue with the whole batch of mussels not purged. I bit into almost all mussels in my dish and learned all except one all had these rocks and grits in it. There was no resolution on it and I just did not finish my food and we paid the full bill inclusive of the 25% service charge automatically applied. At a well know restaurant like this, purging mussels seem like a basic food prep. I have never experienced anything like this and seafood pasta is generally my go to item in Italian restaurants. Restaurant Week Review! Daisies offers a true elevated "farm to table" experience. The menu changes with what is in season to ensure ingredients on menu are fresh and high quality. When I visited, my group decided to do the four course tasting menu and share most of the plates. We got two rounds of drinks and one person got the wine pairings to the tasting menu. My favorite drinks by far were the Mushroom Margarita and Aplini. My friend also got an espresso martini that they kindly made decaf instead of with cold brew. For course one, we got the Sweet Onion Toast, Burrata, and Beets. This collectively was our least impressive course of the evening. The flavors were good but didn't sing like some of the other dishes we tried. My favorite was the Sweet Onion Toast but if you like beets, that may be your favorite option. For course two, we got the Pappardelle and Winter Squash Cannelloni. This was by far our favorite course of the night. The savory versus sweet pasta options displayed how different the flavor profiles can be with the same pasta base. We all loved both of these. For course three, we got the Pork Collar and Celery Root Cake. Everyone enjoyed the Pork Collar but I didn't try it. I was very impressed by the Celery Root dish which had freshly baked brussel sprouts and what tasted like a polenta cake. This was a surprisingly good and fresh feeling dish but not very filling. For course four, we got the Dark Chocolate Tart, Vanilla Bean Rice Pudding, and Butter Cake. My personal favorite was the Butter Cake as it was sweet, cake had a nice bite to it, and loved the sweetness balance. My least favorite was the Vanilla Bean Rice Pudding. Overall, this was the perfect way to get a true taste of Daisies menu offering. The pasta course blew me away. It was a bit frustrating that during restaurant week, they do not offer their standard a la carte menu nor their happy hour special. I wish this was clearly noted to guests. This place deserves all the love. Came solo in a week night and was promptly seated at the bar. The place is delightfully decorated and spotless with friendly and attentive staff. The bar staff were kind, prompt and friendly throughout. I love the service fee being included. Tried the onion dip with accompanying whimsically sculpted in house chips and they tasted amazing. But they were the warmup act. The Stracci with its slow braised lamb shoulder reduced in lamb stock and topped with pecorino cheese? That is a work of ART. Most excellent pasta entrees start out amazing but towards the end begins to lose its luster and eventually you're just eating it. This started out in amazing fashion but half way through I realized I was enjoying each bite more than the last. And despite what my stomach was telling me I felt a bit of sadness when the bowl was empty. Or maybe the sadness stemmed from being too full to try a dessert. I've been eyeing Daisies for a while now, and I finally got the chance to check them out yesterday! They're usually booked out, but luckily I was in the area on a weekday and lucked out. After some heavy contemplation, we ordered the ravioli & pappardelle. The ravioli came out first, and I was immediately a tad bit disappointed... it was $28 and came with 6 pieces of ravioli. I pushed my disappointment aside and tried it out, and it was yummy. It was cheesy and paired well with the sauce, bacon, and tomatoes! Very yummy but not sure if it's worth the price. Shortly after, they served us with the pappardelle. It certainly was a larger portion size than the ravioli, so I was certainly relieved. I'm honestly not a huge fan of red sauce pasta, but it was actually pretty delicious and not too sour (?). I also think the sauce paired very well with the mushrooms. Overall, I do agree that the pasta was certainly delicious. However, considering the price point of the food items and the fact that they charge you a 25% automatic gratuity... So long story short, everything was a 10/10. Definitely make a reservation they are always packed. I was looking forward to this restaurant ever since I booked the reservation a month ago, and it lived up to its expectations for the most part! Immediately upon arriving, it felt very lively with their cafe near the front entrance. For our main courses and sides, we got 1 of each since there were 4 of us and we shared all of the dishes. We got the eggs benedict, quiche, biscuits and gravy, pappardelle, breakfast potatoes, sage maple sausage, bacon, and simple greens salad. We thought the eggs benedict had a unique flavor, we couldn't quite figure out what was on it, it seemed like collared greens and mushrooms but it unfortunately had an odd aftertaste. It wasn't bad, just something different. The quiche had a nice flavor but we were disappointed with the portion size, the quiche was very small and it came with a side salad that seemed like it was added so the dish would look more full. The biscuits and gravy had a nice flavor but the biscuit was slightly dry, I think it could've used more gravy. The pappardelle was the star of the meal, the flavors worked really well together, especially with the mushroom ragu. For the sides, the breakfast potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crispy, definitely the best side. We were pleasantly surprised with the sausage, the texture was perfect and it tasted very fresh. The simple greens salad was unfortunately disappointing, it wasn't anything special, I wish we got another side of breakfast potatoes instead. Lastly, the bacon was rich in flavor. Overall, we had a great experience, there were a few things we didn't like about the food but for the most part, it was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely for a Sunday brunch. Have been walking by this restaurant for years even when they were up the street. Yesterday went in for my birthday dinner. Started off with the cheese curds which they put sweet potato in makes you feel healthy eating fried cheese. Ordered a rigatoni dish which was interesting and delightful. I was late on planning anything for NYE and was happy to see that there were last min availability for the prefix dinner! I've heard people talk about Daisies over the course of 2 years but never had the chance to make it in until last night. When it comes to special occasion prefix menus as well as restaurant week, it really sets the tone for whether or not I'd care to dine in for the regular a la carte menu in the future. Safe to say, I feel like they put on their best for NYE and we will 100% be coming back to try their regular menu. I feel the price was fair given NYE events typically cause price inflation in general. I'm hoping that their chips & dip are a regular menu item because something about it just hit different than normal chips and dip. Whoever is on chive chopping duty did their thing. We were wondering if the chips were homemade. My favorite part was honestly how each chip had a satisfying folded over texture instead of a standard flat circle. Maybe we'll go for caviar next time? By the end of the two starters and the chips, I honestly could've ended the meal there, but the beef and pasta dish with butternut squash were too good to take home and we cleared everything. Dessert came out in two hefty portions which we did end up grabbing boxes for although I thought the apple dessert would be best eaten the day of and fresh. I would 100% order again the onion dip and cheese curds, but the salad did not stand out to me and was a pretty small portion for 4 people. My drink, however, was FABULOUS. Friends brought me to Daisies for a birthday celebration dinner and I could not be more thrilled to share this experience. The service was impeccable in this restaurant and I loved the cozy dining room, with cookbooks over the pass window and floral decor. The onion dip and house made ruffles chips was elevated by an additional jar of salmon roe. We shared the gnocchi (soft and pillowy with rich chanterelle mushrooms and pancetta) as well as a delicious duck bolognese strozzapretti. The standout was an amazing pork loin. The dessert and cheese program gave a lovely round out to the menu. We walked in around 7:30pm on Sunday and snagged two bar seats. We ordered the rigatoni and the agnolotti, both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente! Definitely two of the most unique pasta dishes I've had: - Rigatoni: the brightness of the lemon breadcrumbs balanced the rich, spicier sauce, the nduja is very much dissolved in the sauce (9/10) - Agnolotti: a sweeter pasta sauce than I personally expected but still very good, appreciated the trout roe to balance that sweetness out (7.5/10) Portion size was solid, service was fantastic (personalized recommendations from everyone, very good w allergies), and great for a date night or a girls night out! read more

This was my third time here , used to rave to everyone that this place was arguably better than Monteverde, last night will likely be my last . We took my mom for her 65th bday , the place was very warm when I asked the hostess' about it they dismissively said it was on . 25% tip was pre included, which is fine if service is going to reflect that , it did not . Unfortunately , service was slow and inconsistent . The food was good but not as good as it is used to be . Given you have to tip 25% and the staff couldn't care less that you're there , this will likely be my last time . read more

This was the restaurant I was genuinely the most excited about because everyone kept hyping it up since my arrival to Chicago 1.5 years ago. People are like "this is the best pasta I've EVER had!" And I love pasta, so say less!! When you walk in, the place feels homey but not stuck up. The servers are really nice, and we had a super leisurely 2 hour meal there! I thought they'd ask us to leave asap, but they let us take our time despite how busy it was. For apps, we tried the onion dip and the shaved Brussels sports. Onion dip was delicious - soooo flavorful and the homemade chips were just like ruffles but healthier and thicker? The shaved Brussels sprouts was NOT what I expected - I thought it'd be the typical new American dish with the teriyaki/Asian-glazed-esque sauce. Instead, this was a refreshing slightly bitter yet slightly sweet salad with pears, a nice crunch of pistachios, and rosemary. This was the perfect light dish for what was about to come! Now onto the pastas! The pappardelle is one of their most popular dishes and for good reason - this was my fav, I loved the texture of the super wide handmade noodles, and the chanterelle mushroom ragu was so flavorful. The chew of the pasta was just one of the best I've ever had!! The spaghetti alla chittara was like taking a bite into a salty lemon, in the best way possible. It was light, it was fragrant, it was a bit cheesy - giving everything it needed to give with that sungold sugo (some sort of tomato)?? I didn't love the noodle texture here, but it did remind me of an Italian udon situation. We also had the rigatoni with the nduja on the side. This was your classic tomato based pasta but super fresh, and the nduja (sausage) gave it a nice slightly spiced kick! We finished with the apple upside down cake, which comes with a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and hazelnut amaretti. This was giving quintessential fall flavors, though I did think it was a bit rich for me. Wish they had more of the ice cream to balance it out! Overall, I really enjoyed this meal!! Was it the BEST pasta I've ever had? Probably not. Was is absolutely delicious and top 3 experiences? YES! Everything was cooked al dente and to perfection, and you could tell every ingredient was so intentional. Rather than having a huge myriad of flavors, they focus on highlighting each pasta with only 3-4 additional ingredients in the sauce. read more

We had a mixed experience here. The food was genuinely good, and our waitress was kind and attentive, which we appreciated. However, the seating situation left us feeling uncomfortable. The restaurant opens at 5:00 PM, and we arrived just before our 5:00 reservation, waiting in a small line of guests. When they began seating, only about 4 couples were seated ahead of us and given how large the restaurant is, it was clear there was plenty of space available in the main dining area. When it was our turn, we were taken to a separate back dining room that we didn't even realize existed. It wasn't as nice as the front, and for about 20 minutes, we were the only ones seated back there. As people of color, that initial experience didn't sit right with us and made us feel uncomfortable and singled out. My partner eventually asked why we were being seated in the back. Our waitress was very kind, but her explanation didn't fully sit right she mentioned it would get packed and said she was also working in that section. However, by the time we finished eating, only about four tables in the back were occupied, while the front dining area was completely full. A few more parties were eventually seated back there, which did make us feel a bit better. But those first 20 minutes, when we were the only ones in the back, really set the tone for the experience and left us feeling uneasy. It's disappointing because the food and service were good, but the way the seating was handled took away from the overall experience. If the restaurant opens at 5:00 PM and we were there before opening with a reservation, we felt we should have been seated in the main dining area. Daisies in Logan Square is the kind of restaurant that feels both stylish and grounded--a spacious room with modern design, high ceilings, and a relaxed energy that fits the neighborhood perfectly. I went in knowing one thing: this is a pasta house. What I didn't expect was just how thoughtful and vegetable-driven the whole menu would be. The menu is tight--intentionally so--but what's there is executed at a very high level. To Start * Onion Dip - Comfort food, elevated. Creamy, rich, and paired with crisp housemade chips. Familiar flavors but way more refined than your average dip. * Fritto Misto - Lightly fried vegetables, airy and delicate rather than heavy. A great way to ease into the meal without feeling weighed down. Pasta (The Main Event) * Pierogi - A creative nod to Chicago's Eastern European roots. Pillowy dumplings, likely filled with tangy cheese or potato, with a sauce that brought richness without being heavy. * Ravioli - Handmade and dramatic in flavor. Every bite felt intentional--clean fillings, silky dough, possibly accompanied by a broth or butter that let the interior shine. * Stracci - Ribbons of pasta, wide and rustic. This was the most soulful of the three--hearty, layered, and deeply satisfying. The kind of pasta that reminds you why people travel for carbs. By the end, we were far too full for dessert, which says a lot considering how tempting the sweet offerings sounded. Daisies clearly knows how to pace a meal. Final Thoughts Daisies doesn't overwhelm you with choices--it delivers focus and craftsmanship. If you're looking for heavy sauces and classic Italian red-sauce comfort, this isn't that. But if you appreciate housemade pasta where every fold, sauce, and garnish has intention, it's absolutely worth the trip. Relaxed service, cool space, exceptional pasta. Really enjoyed our dinner meal here. Delicious pastas - span the spectrum from familiar to different / creative, all tasty, and reasonably priced. Most of the dishes are $25. Tasty appetizers - a few creative plates, many staples. The chicory salad was outstanding Vibes - on point. Restaurant isn't trying to be too formal, too trendy, too cool. One of the best meals I've ever eaten. We split the Potted Carrots as an appetizer; one of the most unique appetizers I've ever seen and packed full of flavor. For our main course, we tried the Rigatoni and Corn Ravioli. Both were absolutely incredible, but the Rigatoni was the absolute star. The food was so decadent, hearty and flavorful. I'm already thinking about the next time I can go back. The service was incredible. I drink tons of water, and I love when my water glass is always being refilled, especially at a place so busy. The hallmark of a good restaurant! The restaurant is LOUD, so if you're with people who are hard of hearing or you prefer a quieter feel, this is not the place for you. read more
