Restaurant Week Review! Daisies offers a true elevated "farm to table" experience. The menu changes with what is in season to ensure ingredients on menu are fresh and high quality. When I visited, my group decided to do the four course tasting menu and share most of the plates. We got two rounds of drinks and one person got the wine pairings to the tasting menu. My favorite drinks by far were the Mushroom Margarita and Aplini. My friend also got an espresso martini that they kindly made decaf instead of with cold brew. For course one, we got the Sweet Onion Toast, Burrata, and Beets. This collectively was our least impressive course of the evening. The flavors were good but didn't sing like some of the other dishes we tried. My favorite was the Sweet Onion Toast but if you like beets, that may be your favorite option. For course two, we got the Pappardelle and Winter Squash Cannelloni. This was by far our favorite course of the night. The savory versus sweet pasta options displayed how different the flavor profiles can be with the same pasta base. We all loved both of these. For course three, we got the Pork Collar and Celery Root Cake. Everyone enjoyed the Pork Collar but I didn't try it. I was very impressed by the Celery Root dish which had freshly baked brussel sprouts and what tasted like a polenta cake. This was a surprisingly good and fresh feeling dish but not very filling. For course four, we got the Dark Chocolate Tart, Vanilla Bean Rice Pudding, and Butter Cake. My personal favorite was the Butter Cake as it was sweet, cake had a nice bite to it, and loved the sweetness balance. My least favorite was the Vanilla Bean Rice Pudding. Overall, this was the perfect way to get a true taste of Daisies menu offering. The pasta course blew me away. It was a bit frustrating that during restaurant week, they do not offer their standard a la carte menu nor their happy hour special. I wish this was clearly noted to guests. So long story short, everything was a 10/10. Definitely make a reservation they are always packed. I was looking forward to this restaurant ever since I booked the reservation a month ago, and it lived up to its expectations for the most part! Immediately upon arriving, it felt very lively with their cafe near the front entrance. For our main courses and sides, we got 1 of each since there were 4 of us and we shared all of the dishes. We got the eggs benedict, quiche, biscuits and gravy, pappardelle, breakfast potatoes, sage maple sausage, bacon, and simple greens salad. We thought the eggs benedict had a unique flavor, we couldn't quite figure out what was on it, it seemed like collared greens and mushrooms but it unfortunately had an odd aftertaste. It wasn't bad, just something different. The quiche had a nice flavor but we were disappointed with the portion size, the quiche was very small and it came with a side salad that seemed like it was added so the dish would look more full. The biscuits and gravy had a nice flavor but the biscuit was slightly dry, I think it could've used more gravy. The pappardelle was the star of the meal, the flavors worked really well together, especially with the mushroom ragu. For the sides, the breakfast potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crispy, definitely the best side. We were pleasantly surprised with the sausage, the texture was perfect and it tasted very fresh. The simple greens salad was unfortunately disappointing, it wasn't anything special, I wish we got another side of breakfast potatoes instead. Lastly, the bacon was rich in flavor. We had a mixed experience here. The food was genuinely good, and our waitress was kind and attentive, which we appreciated. However, the seating situation left us feeling uncomfortable. The restaurant opens at 5:00 PM, and we arrived just before our 5:00 reservation, waiting in a small line of guests. When they began seating, only about 4 couples were seated ahead of us and given how large the restaurant is, it was clear there was plenty of space available in the main dining area. When it was our turn, we were taken to a separate back dining room that we didn't even realize existed. It wasn't as nice as the front, and for about 20 minutes, we were the only ones seated back there. As people of color, that initial experience didn't sit right with us and made us feel uncomfortable and singled out. My partner eventually asked why we were being seated in the back. Our waitress was very kind, but her explanation didn't fully sit right she mentioned it would get packed and said she was also working in that section. However, by the time we finished eating, only about four tables in the back were occupied, while the front dining area was completely full. A few more parties were eventually seated back there, which did make us feel a bit better. But those first 20 minutes, when we were the only ones in the back, really set the tone for the experience and left us feeling uneasy. It's disappointing because the food and service were good, but the way the seating was handled took away from the overall experience. I've been eyeing Daisies for a while now, and I finally got the chance to check them out yesterday! They're usually booked out, but luckily I was in the area on a weekday and lucked out. We waited ~15 minutes before we received a text letting us know that our table was ready. The inside is super cute and cozy! Definitely a cute spot for a date. After some heavy contemplation, we ordered the ravioli & pappardelle. The ravioli came out first, and I was immediately a tad bit disappointed... it was $28 and came with 6 pieces of ravioli. I pushed my disappointment aside and tried it out, and it was yummy. It was cheesy and paired well with the sauce, bacon, and tomatoes! Very yummy but not sure if it's worth the price. Shortly after, they served us with the pappardelle. It certainly was a larger portion size than the ravioli, so I was certainly relieved. I'm honestly not a huge fan of red sauce pasta, but it was actually pretty delicious and not too sour (?). I also think the sauce paired very well with the mushrooms. Overall, I do agree that the pasta was certainly delicious. However, considering the price point of the food items and the fact that they charge you a 25% automatic gratuity... I was late on planning anything for NYE and was happy to see that there were last min availability for the prefix dinner! I've heard people talk about Daisies over the course of 2 years but never had the chance to make it in until last night. When it comes to special occasion prefix menus as well as restaurant week, it really sets the tone for whether or not I'd care to dine in for the regular a la carte menu in the future. Safe to say, I feel like they put on their best for NYE and we will 100% be coming back to try their regular menu. I feel the price was fair given NYE events typically cause price inflation in general. I'm hoping that their chips & dip are a regular menu item because something about it just hit different than normal chips and dip. Whoever is on chive chopping duty did their thing. We were wondering if the chips were homemade. My favorite part was honestly how each chip had a satisfying folded over texture instead of a standard flat circle. Maybe we'll go for caviar next time? By the end of the two starters and the chips, I honestly could've ended the meal there, but the beef and pasta dish with butternut squash were too good to take home and we cleared everything. Dessert came out in two hefty portions which we did end up grabbing boxes for although I thought the apple dessert would be best eaten the day of and fresh. Made it back to daisies for dinner so time to update my review for the new dishes I tried!! Highly recommend sharing plates with your group. This was the way to go to try all the things! Started with the French onion dip, cheese curds (fritto misto), and shaved brussels sprouts. I would 100% order again the onion dip and cheese curds, but the salad did not stand out to me and was a pretty small portion for 4 people. My drink, however, was FABULOUS. The sunroom gimlet with the carrots was a top cocktail of the year for me. I ordered 2 of them. For mains, we got the rigatoni and cavatelli and I loved both of them. Friends brought me to Daisies for a birthday celebration dinner and I could not be more thrilled to share this experience. The service was impeccable in this restaurant and I loved the cozy dining room, with cookbooks over the pass window and floral decor. This was the restaurant I was genuinely the most excited about because everyone kept hyping it up since my arrival to Chicago 1.5 years ago. People are like "this is the best pasta I've EVER had!" I didn't love the noodle texture here, but it did remind me of an Italian udon situation. We also had the rigatoni with the nduja on the side. This was your classic tomato based pasta but super fresh, and the nduja (sausage) gave it a nice slightly spiced kick! We finished with the apple upside down cake, which comes with a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and hazelnut amaretti. I have been wanting to go to Daisies for months if not close to a year. I made a reservation for 2 and my friend ended up cancelling, but I chose to go anyways! I have to say the ladies at the host stand were very lovely. I sat at the bar as I ended up being solo and they transferred my reso deposit to my first check. The first shift ended and they added my deposit and i was able to put my own tip. The second shift started and I finished the second part of my meal with no disruptions. Service was attentive, but nothing exceptional. If anything the bar people seemed more interested in chatting with each other and forgot a few things like a plate for me to eat off and silverware twice. I ordered the HH dip chips and caviar add on, the HH cheese trio, the brussel sprout salad, a pasta, and the pork.The pork came out cold, but they quickly replaced it for a new warm one. I was ready to be wowed and i found it pretty underwhelming. I also ordered an espresso martini. My total bill was around $160-170 My last complaint has to be the 25% service charge. What do you mean you are adding 25% to my tab for your deserving staff to receive equitable pay and benefits??? Take that up with the government LOL. call your local constituents or better yet, YOU pay your servers better so that they can afford better wages and health insurance!! I worked in the service industry for years and passing this on to patrons is honestly ridiculous. You want to charge me 25%!!!!!! because of something that is out of my control? Came here for my birthday and finally got to try out the dinner menu. We had to wait a bit for our table as it was quite crowded but I'm glad we had a reservation. Our server was very helpful and kind and helped us decide what we could order that catered to my vegetarian diet. We started off with the onion dip, N/A wine, and house cola and everything was delicious. We then had the ravioli and the rigatoni. The ravioli was good but the rigatoni was really sour / salty and just not great in general. We told our server and she immediately asked us if we wanted another dish but I think we were full at that point so she ended up removing it from our bill which was appreciated. We then ended with the raspberry pudding dessert and I got a mini birthday chocolate cake that was also pretty good. All in all, we didn't love the food but we could consider coming back for just drinks/apps or dessert. read more

One of the best meals I've ever eaten. We split the Potted Carrots as an appetizer; one of the most unique appetizers I've ever seen and packed full of flavor. For our main course, we tried the Rigatoni and Corn Ravioli. Both were absolutely incredible, but the Rigatoni was the absolute star. The food was so decadent, hearty and flavorful. I'm already thinking about the next time I can go back. The service was incredible. I drink tons of water, and I love when my water glass is always being refilled, especially at a place so busy. The hallmark of a good restaurant! The restaurant is LOUD, so if you're with people who are hard of hearing or you prefer a quieter feel, this is not the place for you. read more

Came here on a Saturday night around 9:30-10pm and we only had to wait 10 ish minutes to be seated without a reservation. Server was nice but just customer service wasn't really there, just came in to check on us once briefly but nothing over the top. For food we ordered the potted carrots and fritto misto for apps. Mains we got were the gnocchi and rainbow trout. All the food was great! The fritto misto consist of all bartered and fried cheese curds, mushrooms, and eggplant, with a tarragon sauce. I LOVED the sauce, it went very well with all of it. The potter carrots had an interesting texture and we were a bit unsure how it was supposed to be eaten all together? We weren't the biggest fan of it but the flavors were still good. The gnocchi was pillowy soft and the mushroom was a yummy addition. The cook on the rainbow trout was perfect but I wasn't a fan of the almonds all over the top. read more

Daisies has been on my list for a while and we were finally able to stop in. I was hoping to try their pasta but they have a specific lunch menu focused on sandwiches. I also like the cafe at the front, so we ended up trying: - Sprint Onion Feta Tart - Coffee Cake - Chicken Parm - Turkey Rachel The sandwiches somehow tasted light, like the flavor was there but you didn't feel greasy or bloated. If you like savory pastries then I would highly recommend the onion tart, it was phenomenal. The coffee cake was also great, moist all the way through. I have been wanting to come here for years and I was so excited to finally check it out!! I went here with five of my friends for our monthly supper club and we tried a ton of dishes. The pastas definitely shine through here and you can tell that they are homemade. We try to be rigatoni, parpadelle and stacci. All were incredible, but we loved the stacci the most. In terms of appetizers, we had the onion dip with homemade ruffles (incredible), smashed cucumbers, mixed green salad, frito miso and potted carrots. For dessert, we split the raspberry pretzel pudding and the blueberry doughnut. Again, all of the food is so great and fresh here, but the desserts really shine through. You can always tell when there is a pastry chef in house and these desserts are outstanding. I definitely want to come back and I understand that the 25% gratuity and service fee is a lot but when everything is this great they make it worth it. read more

First time dining at Daisies and it did not disappoint. You can taste the freshness and the quality shine through in every dish. We ordered the zucchini (a cold salad) , the mushroom pappardelle and the cavatelli with feta and roasted tomatoes. The pasta was fresh, a little rich but all so good. My only gripe is that in addition to a reservation deposit, you are also automatically charged a 25% gratuity! I am not one to stir the pot and start a debate, but a bit much, perhaps? read more

Tried over half the dinner menu between three people. Cocktails were all very floral. Some worked in unexpected ways, some didn't work in unexpected ways. We all agreed the raspberry pretzel punch really stood out as the best of any of the three we got. -- Onion dip - good but in retrospect probably not worth the price -- Potted carrots - the best appetizer we got; really cool gnocco fritto used as scoops for these amazing ground carrots. Super unique, delicious, this alone is worth the reservation. -- Fritto Misto - maybe the worst of the apps; we didn't even finish. just fried breaded veg. Forgettable. -- Stracci - not my favorite but not bad by any means; just so much butter sitting at the bottom of the bowl. Excellent pasta but I just remember the butter -- Rigatoni - the favorite pasta for all three of us. the nduja is amazing, bit of heat, pairs so well with a delicious fermented tomato sauce. -- Cavatelli - really grew on me the more i ate it. Again, too much butter, but the tomato conserva (which was like sundried tomatoes with a slight acidity) really cut through the rest of the dish and elevated it in a super unique way. Service was amazing throughout; very attentive server, knowledgeable, and helpful. Will definitely return for special occasions given the price, but i can't wait to have those carrots and the nduja rigatoni again. read more

I loved the shaved Brussels sprouts--they didn't even taste like Brussels sprouts normally do! The pasta was also delicious and our server was great! I also appreciated how accommodating they were of dietary restrictions--they pointed out everything that could be made vegetarian in the menu for me! However, I think the portions are too small for the price and the flavors aren't exceptional to justify the price. While I think the food is good, I just don't feel like it's worth the price. read more
