We started with the kalbi chicken flatbread, which was probably the standout for me-really unique combination of flavors and something I hadn't seen at other restaurants. I went with the wheat bucatini, which was excellent, and also had a gin cocktail that was really well done. Everything we ordered was great, and the whole meal felt creative without trying too hard. The artichoke was fine and met expectations - 3/5. The arugula salad was good but there were like 3 small pieces of chicken. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who used to live in the neighborhood, Lincoln Square. It's one of his favorite restaurants in Chicago and we dined here with him. Reservations: This place is popular so definitely make a reservation. The Warbler is on Resy, which is notable for those with the American Express Platinum Card ($100 per quarter Resy credit). Parking: We parked in the adjacent pay lot. It's convenient and had plenty of open spaces during our visit just before 8:00 PM on a Thursday night. Atmosphere: It was uncomfortably warm inside. The dining room and enclosed outdoor patio were packed. We sat in a U-shaped booth next to the semi-open kitchen, which was cool. The vibe is casual; it definitely has the feel of a local neighborhood joint. Food and Drink: The five of us shared apps and veggies and each got our own drinks and entrees. I was in Chicago over the holidays and what a whirlwind - I'm STILL reviewing places I went. So, recall. I did a girls day with my mom and SIL. Afterwards we were hungo so SIL took us to a spot she and my brother love for dinner (and the ribs specifically). Turns out, it's one of those where the lunch menu is very different from dinner so it was like we all got to experience it for the first time. The lunch menu was small but mighty. Tried The Warbler out for dinner with a friend and it did not disappoint! Beautiful atmosphere, excellent service (shoutout to Connor), and delicious food/drinks. We shared the grilled asparagus and I got the Garlic & Fennel Falafel (so good - the flavors in this dish are very tasty). My friend got the Mushroom Flatbread and loved it. I've been coming to The Warbler for a long time, and while the atmosphere is still inviting and the staff is incredible, the kitchen's execution has fallen off just a bit lately. The Service: I cannot overstate how great the service is here--it is truly exceptional and top-tier. The hospitality remains the absolute highlight of the experience and is some of the best you'll find in Chicago. The Food: The Cheeseburger: This was actually very good. It was a very tasty, above-average burger and I have no complaints there at all. Korean Wings: At one point, I said these were the best wings in the city. I don't stand by that anymore; they're still tasty, but they've lost that "best in class" spark. The Chicken, Mushroom & Polenta: This was the signature dish at their sister restaurant, Gather, which closed a few years ago. Compared to the version at Gather, this was a letdown. It was under-salted, the fried pieces were over-fried, the roasted portion was dry, and the polenta lacked the creaminess it used to have. Carrot Cake: The carrot cake with praline ice cream is tasty, but is reminiscent of a microwaved Mug cake. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. The balance of flavor is nice and I appreciated the salt to balance the sweetness. Overall: It's still a nice vibe and the service is truly world-class, but the food used to be more consistent across the board. I'll be back for that burger and the great hospitality, but I'm hoping the rest of the menu returns to its former glory. 3.49 stars read more

I informed our server and she then told her manager. He walked through but didn't say anything. She then came back to say they're working on it. The manager suggested we could move to another table. Came here on a Tuesday night and it was packed! Such a great ambiance. We got to sit outside in their patio area that is huge. Their pasta selection is so good, I wanted to try them all! The portion sizes for the pasta are small and not good for sharing. Tried the crispy cauliflower and it did not disappoint. They have a great patio for outdoor seating. The inside is super nice as well. All I could think when I think about this dinner was everything was so FRESH!  Our standouts for our meal: the mussels, the tempura ribs, and salmon There are so many mussels that come in the dish that it was perfect for the three of us dinning. I highly recommend getting extra bread on the side because the bread is essential for soaking up all the delicious saucy goodness.  The tempura ribs were perfectly cooked and mely in your mouth with a delicious sauce. We really appreciated the freshness to the sauce of the salmon as well. Outside of our three standouts we also got the pork shoulder which was super juicy and fall off the bone, the papperdelle which is house fresh made and fantastic, and a big salad which had a perfect amount of greens + add ons in each bite. Drinks: The Regal Eagle was the standout for us  Our server was so friendly and always made it a point to take the time to checkin and chat regardless of how busy he was.  It'd love to come back and try their lunch menu or their supper club! Came here for my birthday Eve dinner. I'm new to the area and wanted Cacio e Pepe and upon searching for places to serve it, this place was mentioned. It's a hike for us as we are in Hyde Park but it was worth it. For one , it's not just kid friendly, but when we arrived (reservationless) they had no issues with our kid sitting at the bar. They were beyond kid friendly in my opinion. The seats were comfortable. The staff were so kind. The waitresses at the bar were so attentive. Our food came out pretty quickly. And I very much enjoyed my pasta and glass of rosé! I don't always get to enjoy whole wheat pasta. I really liked the flavor and texture. I enjoyed the cheese sauce and could taste the pepper nicely. I was glad to take home leftovers. Can't wait to eat for lunch. My husband got the burger. He thought it was great. He didn't think it was very greasy and he felt happily satiated. Recently I had a pretty disappointing experience. I ordered the prosciutto and Brie sandwich- which I have enjoyed before. I took a total of two bites and it was extremely salty. It was busy- but by the time I was able to flag down my server, most everyone was done with their meals in my party. When he finally came back by, I told him it was very salty and his reply was, "That's ok" and he took it away. He never asked if I wanted anything else and when the bill came around- it was still right there on the check. I didn't want to make a thing of it- so I just let my friend pay the tab and I Venmoed her my share. Overall, it was frustrating to pay for a meal that I didn't even eat. read more

I love this place! To start, the drinks are truly fantastic. I love the cocktails. They're creative but not too strange like some places are making their drinks these days, and just darn delightful. As for food, I feel like the Warbler is great because the menu feels like there is something for everyone. I really love the unique salads in particular. It's hard to find a place that cares about making salads interesting but they really hit the nail on the head here! The icing on the cake? The restaurant has such a beautiful and thoughtful interior. There's a beautiful bar, and I love the layout with the separate back room and variety of tables and seating options. I would love to sit in one of the cute booths one day! We had a concert at the Old Town Music. This was very convenient and it was our first time. We ordered to share Kale Salad, crispy cauliflower and half a chicken. The salad was very nice and fresh. The Mac nut butter and Mac nuts in the salad added a nice touch. The cauliflower was awesome. The chicken was done 2 ways. Thighs were fried and breast was sous vide. It was both delicious and moist. I've wanted to try this place for a long time. My Husband and I stopped in for lunch. Overall, everything was great. The Decor is quite nice, and the staff is friendly and on point. We enjoyed the food. I had the French onion soup and a whipped ricotta and Crostini appetizer. The whipped ricotta with blueberries was amazing. I took the leftovers home and had it for breakfast. The next morning. My chief complaint is the noise level. The acoustics in the restaurant are not great and with all the people talking, it gets extremely noisy to the point you have trouble carrying on a conversation with the people at your table. This was my first time at this restaurant, and it was a pleasant experience. The ambiance on the patio was lovely and the staff was attentive and friendly without being pushy. My son and his girlfriend have been there many times, and insisted we get the whipped ricotta appetizer and kale salad. Both of these items were top notch, as were the cocktails and we enjoyed. The pasta bolognese that the ladies ordered was delicious. My son had the burger and fries, and it was fine, just not very special. I ordered the "half" chicken, thinking as a bird themed restaurant, the only poultry entree would be a star, but that was not the case. A small thigh and half of a breast was their interpretation of a half chicken, and this was noted on the menu, but the portion was disappointing. The dish was supposed to to be accompanied by polenta with trumpet mushrooms, but two paltry slices of mushroom with a small smear of polenta completed the dish which "artfully" only occupied the left half of the plate, leaving the rest of the plate bare. Small portions aside, the dish was overly salty, to the point I had dry mouth the rest of the night, and the chicken was overcooked. The taste was fine, and the little bit of polenta added enough moisture to make the dish work. The worst thing was the incredibly dull dinner knife that couldn't cut through the mushroom, let alone the chicken, causing me to apply the stab and pull/tear method to get bite sized pieces. Everything thing else was superb. I would go back for the cocktails and appetizers, perhaps grazing the appetizers and a salad as a dinner. The pastas all looked terrific, but I will probably steer clear of the four mains on the menu, as they seem to be the least inspired items to order. read more

A great experience. We enjoyed the Burrata Panzanella salad and my wife who hates croutons, actually enjoyed the Grilled Focaccia. I am so glad not to have read the negative review of the Gather Half Chicken before our visit as my experience was amazing. The breast is seared and juicy and the thigh is Southern fried both without bones on a bed of polenta with crispy onion. All was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. As my wife does not eat mushrooms, she opted for the hamburger. After moving the mushroom slices to the side she made me share the chicken with her. Our son enjoyed his Fusilli as well.
