They serve you the meat as is. You get ribs, skirt steak, chorizo and chicken. You need to eat it while it's hot it's not as appetizing once it gets cold. Shirt steak was surprisingly soft. All were strongly seasoned- no complaints. The fries we had for starch were crispy freshly fried. The staff was super nice and patient with me and our large group of 10. The place is very local it's inside a residential area but parking this Saturday night was Not a problem. Best of all BYOB with no corking fees. One of the cutest restaurants you will ever find in a random Chicago side street. I've been there several times over the years. I will say they used to have a bit better food. Last time I was there in spring 2026, the empanadas were a bit cold and lacked flavor. My wife had a sandwich and that was pretty decent. Just stopping in here because we were planning on somewhere else but it had a long wait and we just drove by this cute little place and it just looked good so we stopped. So glad we did! We sat outside and the ambiance was very cute. The service as nice and the food was delicious!! So many options I didn't know what to get! To start for drinks I had a delicious cappuccino and my husband got some kind of peach ice tea that was really good and my daughter just had a can of Diet Coke . Our meals were all good, my husband had a Cubano, my daughter had a Caprese Panini and I had a chimichurri skirt steak baguette which I think was the best! I'm an Argentinian immigrant and I love this place. It's a piece of home in Chicagoland. My favorite by far is the "Milanesa Napolitana", no matter if is chicken or beef, it's always perfect. And the fries on the side are always perfect. If that wasn't enough, the ambiance is always perfectly AC for the outside temperature and the service is great (every server can talk in both English and Spanish). I tried other Argentinian food places in Chicago, but La Nonna takes the crown for the one that tastes and feels more like home. read more

I was so excited to try this spot after all the reviews and ended up disappointed. I ordered pick-up via Grubhub. The food was ready as scheduled and that was probably the only thing that went well. I ordered a flan but they didn't have any so they offered to swap it out with any other dessert - there was dulce de leche coconut cake, tres leches, and tiramisu. I opted for the tres leches. For mains we ordered the milanesa napolitana and la tana pizza. The milanesa was overly salty and fries were hard and over fried. The only thing I enjoyed was the amount of cheese as a cheese lover, but cheese already has salt so I would have preferred if the steak was further salted. Fries were too crunchy. Milanesa is such an Argentine staple and it was so disappointing. The pizza crust was quite hard on the edges and I wanted a softer crust as well...wasn't cut well so we had to cut further. The center seemed quite thin and stuck to the pizza box when we tried to grab the pizza. The sundried tomatoes added a nice acidic contrast though. We also got sauteed veggies on the side - not bad but also salty. The tres leches was moist on one side and dry and hard on the other. It was also way too sweet and you could feel the sugar particles when eating the meringue on the outside - it should have been throughly incorporated. Maybe it was my mistake ordered tres leches from a non Mexican spot. I'm not sure if I would give this another try. read more

I'm kind of shocked I've never written a review for La Nonna. I mean I lived in the neighborhood for 4 years and went here a handful of times, but nothing is coming up in my list of reviews for here. Well let me just say it here, first and foremost, I think La Nonna is such a unique little lunch spot. The mix of Argentinian and Italian cuisine under one roof makes for some delicious comfort meals you just wanna share with some friends and chill for hours on end talking about nothing. Also not to mention, they make some amazing lattes in-house that you need to try. They have a separate breakfast and lunch menu that you can order from at different times. I believe after 10am their breakfast menu converts to their lunch hours. Even though I went during the lunch hours, I was able to order a hearty sausage skillet that was beautifully presented on an exclusive La Nonna cutting board. The restaurant was bustling for a Saturday afternoon, so it took about 5 mins to get a seat, but the service was always prompt. I love to keep La Nonna in my rotation of food stops to recommend to locals as I think it is a real special place to eat from in Chicago and I sincerely hope it stays in its lowkey area for a while. read more

Tucked just off the Addison exist of the highway, La Nonna is an excellent Argentinian/Italian spot serving delectable paninis, sandwiches, egg dishes, empanadas and more. We a veggie panini and the chicken pesto panini to go, one with a side salad and the other with seasoned potatoes. Pro Tip: No matter how healthy you want to try to eat, and I usually do, do not forego the potatoes! They're incredible, an elevated version of those vinegar fries you get on the Jersey boardwalk, seasoned to absolute perfection. The star of the show, the paninis, similarly impressed, delicious, fresh, and very well seasoned ingredients perfectly nestled between the oiled and pressed bread. We came here for home cooked South American food. We arrived and the restaurant is actually pretty intimate with no more than 10 tables inside , wood paneling everywhere and a small bar. Lots of local argentines come whenever there is a soccer game, which is a good sign it is authentic. They were flexible and let us sit outside even though our table was reserved inside. We started with six empanadas. They were good and even my daughter ate an entire one all by herself.
