A meal full of bangers. Guacamole and esquites were both great and on the happy hour menu. Fish and al pastor tacos slapped. The tortillas are all homemade, thin and soft. Mango tres leches had delicious biscoff dust covering half. The standouts were the tuna crudo (will be dreaming of that aji amarillo sauce), crispy potatoes, and cilantro ice cream. The happy hour margarita was good, but we had a margarita made with Tapatio Anejo that might have been the best marg these Texans have found in Chicago. Service was friendly and attentive. Good food but absolutely terrible service. The kitchen is really being let down by the nonexistent front of house. We spent a couple of hours at La Lunita last night and the wait staff spent the whole evening hiding behind the curtains at the back of the restaurant. They are never on the floor - they drop off food and then immediately disappear behind the curtains. What's behind the curtains that's so important? Trying to order food or drinks felt like an impossible task because the wait staff was never visible. Four waiters but never anyone actually in the restaurant and three guys standing behind the bar, one working and two staring at their phones. It's a shame because the food is really, really good; the pork belly chicharrones were excellent, as was the tuna crudo, the short ribs were awesome and the corn tortillas were the best I've ever had and we were in Oaxaca 2 months ago. The margaritas were tasty and the wine list looked really interesting. Management - you need to do some serious retraining of the wait staff, ban them from hiding behind the curtains and make them walk the floor, you know, to actually help the customers. Based on the food I want to go back but based on the service I doubt we will. It's a shame. read more

The space has a lively, high energy that makes it perfect for dinner with friends where you order cocktails, share plates, and end up staying longer than you planned. Oysters, tuna crudo and taco were great! Fresh tortillas, really flavorful fillings, and toppings that made every bite interesting. Great mix of textures too. Crunchy, bright, savory, with that squeeze of lime that pulls everything together. Definitely the kind of dish you pause for a second like... okay wow, this is good. The cocktails were also excellent. If you love tequila or mezcal, you'll be very happy here. The service was excellent as well. Parking is definitely the typical Logan Square adventure, but they do offer valet across the street which helps a lot and makes the whole experience easier. read more

This place is amazing! I highly recommend coming to this restaurant if you are in Logan Square. The atmosphere is bright and chill. They have a huge window near the entrance so if you have a chance to sit there, it will be a great experience to get some sunshine while eating this delicious food. My girlfriends and I had the oysters, the birria bowl, with chilaquiles. The portions are a good size (I had left overs for the next day). Between the three of us with two cocktails each, the bill was $93 each (we did split the bill evenly three ways since our meals were close in price). I would recommend a reservation for the brunch time since it was busy. Overall, I give this restaurant 5/5. read more

We stopped in on a Saturday night and were able to snag bar seats. The place is simple but cool with a record section in the corner and sleek bar with bright lighting. We started with some drinks and the delicious queso fundido that came with authentic blue corn tortillas. However we had to ask for more tortillas, and this costs $5. My spicy margarita was refreshing, and my drink after - diablo rojito- was even more tasty and refreshing. We had a ceasar salad and the Cameron à la parilla. While the salad was good, the shrimp was difficult to eat because it was shelled with little meat inside. It also was a small dish for the price ($30). I wouldn't recommend this - instead we tried some of the duck flautas which were delicious. Service was great at the bar. I'd like to come back and try more cocktails and other dishes! read more

I came here on a Saturday night around 7:30pm without a reservation and there were 2 of us. We were able to be sat. It was a busy place and had a party at a big table. We started with chips and salsas including a mole salsa. The chips are large fried corn tortillas and in a bowl of beans which allegedly you can take home. We also got guacamole, and some drinks. It was a nice ambiance but overall everything tasted a little too toasted. This place had kids in it but it did not feel kid friendly. read more

We had a great experience at La Lunita! It is such a great addition to our neighborhood. The ambiance is great, the staff was so nice and helpful, and our food was wonderful. I am gluten free/ pescatarian and there were plenty of options for me. I had the jackfruit al pastor and sweet potato tacos. I loved both but preferred the sweet potato with goat cheese taco. My partner had the quesabirria tacos and he loved them. We also split the esquites for an appetizer and the prawns with our meal. Everything was great. A very good friend of mine decided we would come here for my bday brunch a couple of weeks ago. She mentioned she wanted to come here as it was relatively new...I believe they opened in June. This is the sister location of the very popular La Luna in Pilsen. They didn't have signage yet aside from the thing places put on a street to let you know they have a happy hour, but you will know the place when you see the yellow building. We came in around noon on a Saturday and I noticed they had records on the back wall and a DJ was spinning some classics (Digable Planets upon my request). We had a very nice waitress and unfortunately I dont remember her name but she was very nice. I ordered the chilaquiles and it was pretty good. It includes fried tortilla chips, eggs over easy, queso fresco, chives, pickled radish, crema and salsa. You can add skirt steak for an additional $14...no other meat options available. Was good as mentioned but would have been even better with chicken in which I was told is not an option. Drinks were spectacular as I had the: Cocktail Tres (mezcal, green key, lillet blanc, pineapple, lime and felernum), Cocktail Dos (mezcal, tequila, lemon juice, fruitful coconut, habenero infused bitters and amaro montenegro) Cocktail Uno (gin, lemon, agave, orange bitters, sparkling wine and italicus) I liked my experience here and would definitely come back! read more

The 3 of us came here for a weekday dinner earlier this month and had a great time trying different items from the menu. The restaurant has a focus on seafood items, but there are also several wonderful non-seafood options that are part of the menu as well. Guacamole (10/10)- Fresh, great texture, great taste. Quesillo Fondue (9/10)- This app was really good! It just wouldn't be a must for me to re-order again due to the other awesome menu options that might be more interesting. Baja Style Fish (10/10)- Comes with 2 tacos per order. Great flavor and worth ordering. Octopus (10/10)- All three of us really enjoyed the octopus. Incredibly tender, well seasoned, and fresh. I didn't try the lamb quesabirria, but my friend was raving about how good it was. We all enjoyed all of the cocktails we ordered (Margarita, Paloma, Cocktail Dos). Overall, a really wonderful addition to the neighborhood. They haven't had great signage up yet since it's still early but you can't miss the bright yellow painted brick. It's a really beautiful spot. It's good they have specials and happy hour because the price point is pretty high (about $100 pp but could be less depending on what you order). But the food is excellent quality and really beautifully done. Great space, wonderful staff. The steak taco special was extraordinary tasty. The broccolini, guacamole, and prawns were truly so so flavorful and delightful. The only thing we didn't like was the aguachile negro which we thought really lacked depth in flavor, especially compared to everything else we were served. It was pretty bland. Cocktails were solid, and they have an interesting wine list as well. I'll definitely be trying some of those next time but this time I stuck to margaritas. I'll definitely be back again and look forward to trying more of the menu. So far this is almost on par with my other favorite elevated Mexican spot in Chicago, Tzuco. Great for date night, small groups (probably max I would do here would be 4-6 people), dinner with parents while they're in town, etc. read more

I was excited to try this new spot in Logan Square. Given that, beware of street parking, it is very limited in that area. Enjoyed brunch here with friends and enjoyed the ambience very much, super spacious and large bar. I really enjoyed the drinks as they were well balanced and spirit forward. Menu was small but there was variety and the server was very helpful in giving recommendations. My husband and I got the enchiladas with mole sauce and French toast with cajeta. very much just "ok"... went for restaurant week. my biggest beef with RW is serving food that's not actually offered on their regular menu. my option starter of caesar salad was just that - not a regular item - and therefore the mystery dressing could not be guaranteed vegetarian--the server had no idea and apparently neither did the kitchen. my veggie enchiladas did not differ much from the ones i make and at least i'm able to add on some veggies to make it more interesting. the 3 stars (really 2.5 stars) - are for the drinks and the delicious GELATO/SORBET. however, who knows if that's actually on the "real" menu too! read more

I wish that the waiters came around more often but service was pretty good! The food was pretty amazing! The presentation for everything we got was great! Gorgeous dishes that had a lot of flavor to boot! We shared the guacamole and then I got the fish taco and skirt steak taco both of which were amazing!! 4.5 stars This had been our backup plan when it opened the same weekend as Mucho Gusto. This should've been plan A, not plan B. The space is very sleek and minimalist, appropriate for a higher end Latin place. I didn't love our seats in the row of 2 tops between the bar and banquettes. We were offered a spot towards the front and I wish I took it. Seats aren't bad, but I felt crowded with staff and patrons walking by frequently. There's a DJ in the back; the place was loud, but not so loud we couldn't talk. My biggest challenge was our server because her voice was on the quiet side. The have little table lamps, which with the dim lighting is helpful for middle-aged eyes. We started with an appetizer that had maracuya in it. It was fantastic and not just because I'm a sucker for maracuya. For our mains, my husband got the mole enchiladas. I think it's an oversight on the menu because it doesn't say which protein comes with them. He really enjoyed his food. I got the Callo Del Mar, a scallop dish. This was fantastic and something I'd ordered again. They have a nice selection of liquors and an NA menu with lots of choices. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here. The menu is not huge, but well selected. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. read more

Had mixed experiences at La Lunita in Logan Square. Parking was a nightmare, and the promised valet service was nowhere to be found, even with a 45-minute early arrival . Food was the highlight - amazing flavors, especially the grilled oysters (ordered twice!), jackfruit tacos, and homemade tortillas. Service was hit-or-miss; our waiter juggled too many tables, leading to long gaps between courses for the $45 prix fixe. Hostess and busboy were on point, though. Atmosphere and music were vibe-boosting, and happy hour deals are a plus if you arrive early. Overall, solid food in a fun setting, but work on that parking and service read more

I was really excited to try this place and visited for the first time today. The food was decent but my friends steak came out cold and our plate had a hair in it. When we notified the wait staff they asked us if we wanted a new plate and we assumed that meant a new order but they literally brought us a plate for us to move the tacos and we asked to replace one where the hair was clearly on it. There weren't any comps/discounts or apologies. We didn't make a big deal or cause a scene but this is basic 101 for a restaurant. I'm also paying for a service and considering the tab came out to about $200, I expect more. There so many other places around that can make up for this place. read more

The food here is in the same league as Daisies, Andros, Mi Tocaya, etc. It was among the best food we've had in Logan Square. The tuna crudo is out of this world, the lamb tacos melt in your mouth. The margarita is the perfect balance of tart and sweet. I want to go back and try everything on the menu, however... We couldn't hear ourselves think the entire time. At 8 pm on a Friday night while I was sinking my teeth into what I truly think could be Michelin-starred food, the entire establishment was vibrating to Area Codes by Ludacris. There's a new crop of loud vibey "restaurants" in the neighborhood that are packing in 20-somethings in droves until late at night with their pretty decor and bumping music you can hear down the block. La Victoria and Mucho Gusto know what they're about. They want to give you something you can post on instagram and tell a good story about the next day while you eat a mediocre plate of enchiladas and sip a sugary Paloma. La Lunita has all the ingredients to be something far more special. At the moment though she's like the hot girl in school who makes straight A's but dumbs herself down to sit at the "cool kids table." Tale of two stories, interesting flavorful food dragged down by abysmal service. On a date night, two of us sat down and ordered 6 dishes, expecting the experience to take maybe an hour, hour and a half? Instead, within 10 minutes all 6 dishes were placed on our table all at once. Servers were literally trying to balance dishes on top of other dishes to make it work. No one acknowledged the issue. We brought it up to the manager, who apologized, but then functionally did nothing to resolve the issue.The server then came over to the table and blamed us! "I didn't know you would want me to course it out". Shameful The saving grace is that the food was actually really good! Prawns flavorful, quesabirria complex. The mole was a tad sweet, but besides that everything was of great flavor So, our date night was over in 40 minutes and $240 later. Not a single comped dish.
