We ordered the Mezcal Margaritas, queso fundido with chorizo and rajas, guacamole, asada tacos, and flautas. Everything was excellent! The margaritas were strong. The steak in the tacos was tender and flavorful without being fatty. The flautas were crispy and delicious, and the fresh salad topping added a great contrast. They are even better than the service, which is saying something. Creative, well balanced, and just plain delicious. They really know what they are doing behind that bar. The food menu features elevated takes on classic Mexican dishes. We tried a few different things and everything was beautifully presented. My only small hangup, and the reason for the four out of five stars instead of a perfect five, is that some of the flavors were just a little off. Not bad by any means, but a couple of dishes had a note that just did not quite hit the mark for me. Maybe a spice was a touch too strong, or something was missing a little brightness. It was not enough to ruin the meal, but it kept it from being absolutely perfect. Overall, I highly recommend this spot. It is a fantastic place for a date night or a nice dinner with friends. My favorites were the non-creamy salsa verde and the pico...but they were all good! A great value! I got the Al Pastor tacos which comes with two hearty tacos. The flavors were spectacular! Smokey, sweet, and savory! It was so good I had to force myself to take my time or I'd gobble them all down! My husband got the Al Pastor burrito and it was also delightful! He let me try a bite and the similar flavors burst through, just with the extra beans and tortilla. If you are hungrier, the burrito is the route to go! We were bummed to not get drinks since it was so early in the day because their drink list looked fantastic! We MUST go back! We visited this gem yesterday at around 6pm for dinner, we were craving Mexican food and this place checked all the boxes. We were specifically craving an esquite and birria tacos. The service was very quick, our server paid a lot of attention and was quick to take our appetizer and entree orders. We ordered fundido, barbacoa tacos, chicken flautas, chips and guacamole that was out of this world. Drinks were flowing with my group. I ordered 2 blueberry and sage margaritas. One with Moscato and the 2nd in tequila. Both were good but I like the tequila better. Really flavorful and soooo pretty, honestly. Our service was tremendous!! Tried this place for the first time and I have mixed feelings. I ordered the cochinita pibil tacos which had good flavor except the meat was really fatty. I don't know about other people but I certainly don't enjoy biting into big pieces of wiggly fat. When ordering for carry out I tried to order rice and beans with my tacos but they said they don't have rice. Tried to ask for an horchata which they also don't have. Chips were ok. The green salsa was good. Wish I could speak on the drinks because they look good online but we didn't get to try them. If you're looking for more traditional Mexican food that has more traditional options available go somewhere else. You cannot go wrong with Barbaro. I have been here countless times and have never had a complaint. The al pastor tacos are some of my favorite in the city, and the esquites have become an issue for me (in that I eat them waaaay too often). The habanero mezcal margarita is insanely good. The only thing that I wish was different was the ability to order ala cart tacos to be able to mix and match. But that's easily fixed by bringing a friend and you each get your own order of tacos and share. No reservations but if you're a party of less than 4 then you shouldnt have too much trouble. read more
