Love the concept and execution of Truce. The interior is gorgeous and upscale. Dark and moody- to a fault in the restrooms though. I literally couldn't see anything in there lol. The best of both worlds for me and my partner, as he is obsessed with cafes and I'm more of a cocktail bar type of person. We went in the afternoon and got specialty cafe drinks and overnight oats. The drinks were really good and the oats were... oats lol. Not particularly special but not bad. After we sat down we were given water and a menu. We then went up to order. Didn't really interact w the workers much but I didn't want to anyway, I just came to chill and enjoy some cafe drinks. The atmosphere is definitely way more lively than a regular cafe, lots of people chatting and more of a cocktail bar vibe so like I said it was the best of both worlds for me and my partner. I'll probably come back here often. I live nearby so I'm super pleased with this place. Dare I say it's a neighborhood gem?
The first time we came here, I must have ordered the wrong cocktail because it was way too strong and just didn't like it. Meanwhile my husband loved his drink. We stopped by again with some friends before dinner and had a much better experience. As always the pub mix was so tasty. This time around we got a mix of different beverages including cocktails and mocktails and all of them were great.
What a fantastic bar. The drinks, the salmon dip, the service, and the ambiance were all wonderful. My best friend is sober, so we're always looking for bars that have interesting n/a cocktails. I really debated drinking alcohol, but opted to be supportive and order an n/a drink as well. She ordered the n/a espresso martini and loved it. I got the Silly Sunday. I love when mocktails have complexity. Nothing worse than a $13 fruit juice. The salmon dip was fantastic. It had diced dill pickles which added a nice acidic balance. Paired with bagel chips, it was a nice crunch with the creaminess of the salmon and cream cheese. I'll be back. And next time I'll order a big girl drink.
Coffee shop AND cocktail shop all in one? Love love this concept. The space itself isn't too big, but they did have lots of comfortable couches and chairs for anyone who wanted to WFH. They also have bar seating. Coffee/Matcha: We initially came in around 11 to grab a late morning cup of coffee/tea. I got the beet, pray, love matcha which was so good. It was true matcha that didn't have that overly grass flavor and honestly wasn't sweet at all (which I perfer). The other two people I came with tried: BANANAS and second date. They both really liked their choices! I tried both their drinks and I liked the BANANAS and it's gentle banana flavoring. The Second date was good but it was a little too fruity flavor for me. Cocktails: We got Shnap out of it, fashion forward, farm stand negroni, and espresso martini. All SO good! I am not a whiskey person so the whiskey drinks weren't my jam but our party enjoyed it. I love that all their cocktails are unique. They also have a great list of mocktails! The staff was extremely down to earth and we had asked them if it was possible to do a little something fun for my husbands birthday. They lit a candle next to a shot we got and my husband loved it..
This is a great spot to catch up with a friend, or meet somebody new. I loved the smooth and kind energy this place has. The cocktails are extremely unique, and the bite menu is surprising and pleasant. Happy with the prices, happy with the service, and happy for the experience. Thank you Truce.
The word that comes to mind when I think of Truce is: oasis. A friendly, classy, delightful oasis. I visited this morning for the first time. It was difficult to choose a drink from a menu with multiple great-looking choices, but after advice from the barista I chose a small cold brew with their house-made spiced vanilla whipped cream. I decided to stay in, and settled into a comfortable chair across from the bar. They brought me my drink, along with some water. Very nice. I proceeded to relax and truly enjoy my drink, watching staff and customers come in and out, everyone friendly and happy. It was a terrific way to start my morning, and I look forward to the next time.
Love this neighbourhood bar!! Chic ambiance, reckons cocktails and great conversations. The staff is phenomenal and thoughtful. Highly recommend for a late evening cocktail or pre dinner get together for a few drinks!
Loved it. Came in on a Friday night and even though it was busy, we were greeted by the host immediately. They said it would be a bit of a wait for a table but they have a standing area right off the entrance and we were able to take a look at the menu. Turns out, we were seated within 5 minutes. Service was excellent, drinks were loaded, and ambiance was just what we needed for a chill night out.
Amazing vibes on a Saturday morning! Interior immaculate, service amazing, and the coffee is top notch! Extra points for a great music selection as well :) Pro Tip: coffee by day and drinks by night at this neighborhood gem!
Truce has an AMAZING cocktail menu! Truly so many unique cocktails with ingredients I'd never heard of. First I tried the Mai Tai because I love orgeat and the pumpkin seed orgeat did not disappoint! My friend tried the Thai tea frapp which the presentation in itself was incredible, and the vanilla whip on top was delish. Ended up getting the fernet + cream soda highball for a night cap and it was very refreshing while still having those bitter, herbaceous notes from the fernet. I will definitely be coming back here to try more of their fun cocktails!
What a phenomenal addition to Bucktown neighborhood! The drinks, the decor, the ambience.... Everything was great! The Earl was hands down the best early grey hot toddy I've ever had--and I'm a lover of all toddies. It was so perfectly balanced with a beautiful floral nose of a good cu I almost forgot it was a cocktail! I'd come back just to have another one of those. My bf's Todd was not nearly as fragrant or lovely but it was yet another well balanced cocktail. It was more of classic toddy (think the kind you'd have for a head cold). The bartenders were both very knowledgeable and friendly, and guided us in the right direction each time our glasses were empty. Definitely will be back to try ALL THE DRINKS.

Seriously good cocktails yall! Popped in with a friend last Saturday during the holiday weekend and we errr promptly seated at the bar- not your typical "seat yourself" bar service-- they cleaned and prepped two bar spots for us. And purse hooks at every seat! Gorgeous, moody space. Bartender was fabulous and even went to the trouble of making a tiny version of one of the cocktails for my friend to try to ensure she would like the drink- really well done on the service here. The smell of freshly ground espresso fills the air, and you should absolutely start with on the espresso based cocktails. The Carajillo Cocktail is so well balanced and NOT to be missed. I followed up with the Prickly Please because I needed one coffee cocktail and one fruity. The Prickly Please was absolutely stunning as well! I'll have to come back to keep working my way through this menu- lucky for me I just moved in to the neighborhood! The green chile vodka with grapefruit soda is one example of their take on a "simple" mixed drink and I look forward to trying it next time. Gotta stop in during the day for food selection as well- what a great spot!
Wow, Truce is my ideal concept of a space. It's a coffeeshop by day and cocktail bar by night. I came in during the day on a Thursday to get some work done, and it was such a cool environment. The ambiance is dark and moody inside, but I liked the music they had playing, and there was plenty of seating. They also had free Wi-Fi and outlets! Everything on their menu looked insanely good. I went with the B-A-N-A-N-A-S--it was very tasty, and the banana taste was very strong. It was definitely on the sweeter side so more of a dessert drink, but I enjoyed it. Everything on their menu looked so delicious and well thought out, so I definitely hope to try their other drinks! The service was very fast and friendly. I recommend this spot--will need to be back to try out their drinks in the future! FYI, they become 21+ after 5pm. read more
Came here after hearing and reading great things. The drinks were good and very spirit-forward. We tried the in full bloom, peas + carrots, and uma off their spring 2026 menu. We also tried the mango no. 5 off the classics menu. My favorite was the mango no. 5--it was very smooth with a hint of spiciness. We sat in the corner at the bar behind the coffee machine, which was nice because it felt somewhat private. Bartenders tended to leave us alone and not really check on us unless we made direct eye contact with them. The vibe inside felt cozy and intimate, with very low lighting and a few couches to sit. We wanted to try the "cosmic brownie" I read reviews about, but unfortunately they no longer have it. I was excited to hear they are planning to bring it back sometime soon though. Don't know if I'd go out of my way to come back here again, but maybe if I'm in the area and want to check out a new seasonal menu. I'd also consider coming during the day for coffee. read more

I stopped in Truce during coffee hours and was instantly charmed by the cozy vibe. It's one of those places that feels like a hidden gem. Barista gave latte recommendations, and I'll admit I was hesitant about one with a coconut milk base and date sweetener (I'm not usually a fan of either), but I decided to go for it--and wow, it was SO good! Creamy, perfectly sweet, and way better than I expected. Now I'm even more excited to return for cocktail hour. The speakeasy vibes make it feel like the ultimate spot for a first date or a chill evening with friends. Truce is definitely a place I'll be coming back to again and again. read more

Obsessed with the vibe here. It's the kind of place where you can post up with your laptop during the day--great music, great lighting, and amazing coffee. The latte flavors are super creative; I tried the Beet, Pray, Love--a wild but surprisingly balanced blend of matcha, beet, prickly pear, pepper, and Mexican vanilla. Sounds chaotic, tastes like magic. They've also got tasty breakfast bites to fuel your focus, and when the sun goes down, the cocktail game is just as strong. I've had the Fashion Forward--and let's just say, it lives up to its name. Service is consistently warm and welcoming. Whether you're grinding through emails or grabbing drinks with friends, Truce just gets it right. read more
Very very chill cocktail bar. Went on a Friday night and luckily grabbed a table in the back, but space did fill up pretty quickly. The key lime pie cocktail was really sweet and refreshing (but I think it might be a rotating menu so I'm not too sure how long it'll be here). Would come again:) read more
Place is more of 3.5. Redeeming qualities are the truce cocktail & the fact that you can get a real drink in the extremely early afternoon. Besides that it seems as if it's a one hit wonder. That one hit however is quite possibly amongst the top 5 best cocktails you can get at this price point in Chicago. The other drink aren't terrible however they don't hold a candle to someone who likes complex, rich & boozy cocktails. Accompanying dip wasn't worth mentioning & the prices are fair to say the least read more
My favorite bar!! The cocktails are always rotating, you you'll definitely try something new and everything is so unique you want to try it all. Service is amazing, good recs and good vibes and it's such a cozy ambiance. For coffee in the morning or drinks at night. I've been several times now and I love visiting any time of day! read more

I went in on a Monday night and they were serving a special menu which was a collaboration with a local chef. Everything I tried was delicious ! Bulgogi chopped cheese, drunken tteok, shrimp toast, and a hojicha tiramisu ! Such a lovely and cozy space with the friendliest bartenders ! read more

Do you want a vibe? Are vibes your thing? Chicago is home to the sexiest coffee bar you've ever been to. Welcome Truce chicago - one part coffee bar, one part cocktail bar. The coffee is actually delicious, high quality and good. The cocktail menu is inventive, classic and perfectly delivered. The scene is pure deliciousness. Check it out. 10/10 recommend! read more
Had the great pleasure of going to Truce for my first time yesterday morning and it was absolutely wonderful through and through! To start, the interior is stunning and perfect for enjoying coffee in the morning or drinking cocktails in the evening (can't wait to come back for some cocktails)! In addition, the hostess was beyond kind and welcoming and gave me a ton of information so I can bring my boyfriend back for a nice date night. I ordered the Cold Brew + Tonic and honestly was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it but it was SO good! The barista was also extremely knowledgeable and helped me pick out my drink which I really appreciated. This place is such a hidden gem along with the staff and I cannot recommend enough! Can't wait to come back for date night soon and of course, to enjoy the coffee too. Thank you, Truce for an amazing first experience! read more

The new spot on Damen is a hit! We went for cocktails this rainy Sunday evening and were able to grab a seat for some after dinner night caps. Service was great. Cocktails were excellent. Definitely want to come back for coffee (what a cool concept)! Vibes inside are perfect for a first date, your local go-to spot and everything in between! We'll be back very soon. read more
