They have refreshing iced teas and iced coffees, and delicious smoothies too. Everyone who works here is very kind. Excellent service. On weekends they don't allow laptops and I appreciate that. I got a hot latte and a cheese guava danish. Both were pleasant and ready quickly. No qualms on the food and drink, but this is definitely a vibes/aesthetics cafe above all. Great photo opp. Nice place to sit and do work too. The only thing that made my experience unpleasant was that their light bulbs could use a change - a couple of them I was sitting by were flickering and it was quite distracting. While waiting for my passport appointment this morning, I figured it was the perfect time to find a vibey café and get some work done. Naturally, I turned to Yelp and decided to take a flyer on a spot that didn't have the best reviews but looked intriguing. Well...plot twist. When I got to the end of my GPS route there was absolutely no sign of this café anywhere. No signage, no storefront, nothing. Maybe it was tucked inside one of the surrounding buildings, but after a few minutes of wandering around like a confused tourist, I realized it was time to pivot. And what a pivot it was. I looked across the street and spotted Cafe Deko, and from the moment I walked in I knew I'd stumbled into something special. The vibes are immaculate. Think beautiful Art Deco décor, sparkling chandeliers, and marble high-top tables that practically beg you to sit down, open your laptop, and pretend you're a sophisticated writer working on your next novel. I ordered a lavender honey latte, but then I noticed the pastry case and everything changed. Guava cream cheese croissant? Say less. I grabbed a marble table and before I could even finish setting my bag down, my latte and croissant were ready. Both were fantastic. The latte was smooth, lightly floral, and perfectly balanced, and the croissant was flaky, buttery, and packed with that sweet-tangy guava cream cheese goodness. Cafe Deko may not have been the café I was originally looking for, but it was 100% the café I needed today! Sometimes the best finds aren't the ones you planned. This is a beautiful coffee shop and I'm so happy I stopped in. The server who took my order was so chipper and friendly and he truly helped set my mood for the day. I ordered a sunrise bagel sandwich and it was very good. I think I'd go a little lighter on the garlic aioli because it was potent! My chai was delicious. The place is so swanky, you'll feel glamorous enjoying your morning cup of Joe here. There is some parking here, along Dearborn, but not much. I ordered a latte and the pesto egg sandwich and the biscuit was melt-in-your-mouth fluffy and the vintage dishes add such a cute presentation! I saw this cafe was a must in the city and decided to give it a try! When I entered it was a bit crowded but I received prompt and friendly service. The inside was still decorated for Christmas, and very festive. I have recently gone on a matcha crave and was very disappointed. Matcha is a powdered drink, but you could definitely tell with this one, as it did not go down smooth. I don't think the barista even mixed my drink as there were clear clumps of matcha and poorly mixed milk. I don't think I would come back as this was very disappointing, and hopefully the proper time and care is taken when preparing someone's drink in the future. read more

A super cute cafe in the South Loop! I especially love the mural/painting on all the walls and the chandeliers. They have a variety of pastries in the case and a handful of sandwiches. The coffee menu has the usual items. You order at the counter and they bring you your order to the table. Staff was nice and clear your table as well. I give it four stars because some food were good while others were average, and it could get crowded. I definitely recommend you check it out if you have never been but I don't think this will be my regular cafe. read more

It was so nice that I went twice. Cafe Deko was another business that was walking distance from my hotel. Yelp didn't let me down when I searched coffee shops in the area. I loved the whole ambiance of this place; the decor was terrific and definitely gave the whole Art Deco vibe. The first time I came by, they had just opened for the day so I got the whole place to myself for a few minutes. The staff was friendly and my latte was made just right. The second time I came, it was really busy, with almost every seat taken. I was able to snag a seat at the bar, though, and enjoy my drink there. This was one of the nicest cafes I've been to, so I highly recommend you stop by and soak in the vibes while you enjoy a cuppa. read more

Some friends recommended this spot so I knew I had to check it out for myself. The inside is gorgeous- golden birds on the lights, several chandeliers, a teal and gold patterned ceiling- everywhere you looked there was something to observe. Definitely not your minimalist, corporate coffee shop. They have a no laptop policy on the weekends but I came on a weekday morning so I had some work to get done and found it to be a decent work from home spot. Right after I ordered, all the seating was full so I snagged a seat at the counter. There wasn't a ton of space in the walkway behind me, and I felt that I was a bit in the way of the wait staff. Not a seat I would recommend. The staff was all very friendly about it though, and I was obviously welcome to be sitting there. Luckily a table cleared up and I was able to relocate. I never saw the place reach the capacity level I struggled with at my arrival so maybe I just had bad timing. The cold brew was good, and at my request came with a small glass pitcher of milk. I especially appreciated the coffee being served in a glass with an art deco inspired design, it's the little things that really pushed this place over top. If you love a cool coffee shop, this place is a must try. read more

Very beautiful with chandeliers and elegant walls. We were greeted by a friendly cashier who just moved to Chicago from sunny San Diego. I got a lavender latte, and my mom got a strawberry latte. They were both a bit sweet, but the lavender latte was pretty good. A lot of people camp out with their computers, and there are outlets and free wi-fi. We were so excited to try this place and the decor truly lived up to the hype but the food did not. I didn't get a photo of my chai tea but it was good just too much sugar. My friend and I each got the strawberry banana smoothie, though my friend added blueberries to hers. They were refreshing but flavorless. Unfortunately the sweet chili turkey sandwich was also kind of flavorless, now that I'm looking at it on the menu again, I'm confused why all we could really taste was honey mustard, lettuce and turkey. The chipotle chicken sandwich was thank goodness a winner, as we spent over $60 for so much mediocre or worse food. I have been to the location in Lincoln Park and I had a good experience but I just have to say that the matcha here is terrible. It's appalling to charge $7 for the quality and keep this on the menu. Ugh. I think I mentioned this before. I'm so glad that this location/coffee shop is getting the love from the Publix/social media but honestly social media is ruining everything. I arrived on a Friday afternoon probably close to 4 PM and it was full. That's great. However, my issue is at least 80% of those people have computers out working. I know some coffee houses are starting to restrict us a little bit which I appreciate because I'm not always going to a coffee place to work. I'd like to just sit and relax and enjoy a beverage and perhaps a pastry. It took a few minutes to find a seats and once it was closer to 5 o'clock, most everybody left and it was probably a third full. Service was very friendly and helpful. My drink was promptly made and was delicious. I opted to have an iced mocha. And because I wasn't sure if I was staying, I requested it to go cup, which was fine. It has very cool art deco vibes and it's just a beautiful space. It's easy to get to with public transportation and there is some parking. Reasonably priced overall again I don't wanna sound like a total complainer, but I just wish that some people who are working on computers don't end up staying there all day monopolizing the seats. We have to order at the counter and they bring your order to you. I got an iced latte and some orange cake with icecream. The latte was decent, nothing special there. The orange cake though!!!! Omg! This has to be the cutest coffee shop. I felt like I had stepped into a Parisian cafe. The ambiance and decor are top notch. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was buzzing. Although they were really busy, I was still able to find street parking right in front. The line was long but moved fast. I was worried that I wouldn't find a place to sit, but people were quick and were leaving at a nice pace and I was able to find a table rather quickly. I had a caramel latte with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich. My order came out pretty quickly so no complaints there. The latte was just ok in my opinion. It wasn't anything special and was more reminiscent of hot chocolate than espresso. The breakfast sandwich was quite tasty on the other hand. My experience was solid and I will definitely be back to try another drink and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. read more
