A popping spot for a reason! The first day we walked by, the line was literally looped out the door. We were there during a busy weekend, so I'm not sure if that was busier than usual, but it definitely looks like this place can get crowded, and I see why! The coffee was amazing and they had so many options that it was honestly hard to choose. Since it was raining, I went with the warm cinnamon date latte and was very happy with my choice. It even came with a little date on the side! I also got the avocado toast, which was a good size and really good. This restaurant was across the street from our hotel, so we had breakfast there two mornings in a row. We tried different items, all of which were great. Avocado toast with salmon which my wife really liked. We had various croissants, almond, strawberry and my favorite, chocolate. My wife had a scone, which she liked. Coffee was very good. Seating inside is limited, especially when customers seem to be constantly flowing in which is a testament to the quality of their offerings. For me, it was noisy inside so opted for outdoor seating even though it was hot outside and still had to deal with the noise from the overhead train. It was 11am (not so late in the day), but they didn't taste fresh. The apple pastry was flavorless; the apples were tired; and the crust was chalky and unappealing. The cinammon roll was cloyingly sweet, like something in a shopping mall. Chai latte was good. Breakfast sandwich was inoffensive, but had those ho-hum slightly overcooked eggs you find everywhere (and I guess I was dreaming of some free range wonders). Came here for our first breakfast in Chicago! The decor is super cute and there was a charm to having the extremely loud train running overhead every 5 mins! I got the banana foster latte and morning breakfast sandwich. The latte came with an almond cookie and it was pretty good, the sandwich was also good but I expected the salsa verde to have a slight kick, although also good. Maybe I'm going to the wrong places but a lot of food in Chicago said spicy and it isn't (imo). This may be a good note if you're visiting like I was! I would recommend! read more

I walked over from my hotel right at the time they opened, and it was raining. There was no line, only a handful of people waiting for their order. I got the pistachio croissant, shakshouka pastry, and berry crunch oatmeal. It took about 20-25 minutes, which made no sense because the pastries are in the case and the oatmeal......is oatmeal. I suspect they opened without having all of their prep done because the delay made no sense. Their staff looked frantic. The croissant wasn't filled, it just had pistachio cream on the top with a couple of nuts. I would order the shaksouka pastry again. The egg was cooked well, and the tomato was very good. Such a good place in Chicago. The staff is very nice and have lots of extravagant pastries available every day. I went back to multiple times because it was so good. There wasn't a crazy amount of seating inside, but there is some outside but you will be hearing the train go by every two minutes. Food comes out pretty fast and seems like it's made with good ingredients. The coffee there is to die for. My favorite drink is the iced cacao date latte with the macadamia nut milk. Cool place with beautiful outdoor seating like a proper cafe. The bagel was light and crispy. The latte was a nice with all the fancy art on top. Oh and the almond croissant was ok. I'd say a bit too much almond paste instead of having more of an almond flavor baked in, like the best ones I've had. Oh, so the birds can get pretty aggressive. They are totally coming after my food as I say outside. I asked for one of those birds shu fans and that made a huge difference. Otherwise I was swatting them the whole time. Glad they obliged. We arrived before the 8am Saturday opening, and it was already open with a line that moved fast. There was a large selection of delicious looking things in the case. I picked a chocolate croissant while my husband got a cinnamon roll, and of course, we tried each other's picks. The croissant was absolutely loaded with chocolate cream. It was delicious. The cinnamon roll had a cream cheese frosting. Both items were quite large, so it was good we didn't buy more items or it would have been too much food. My husband had a plain black coffee, too, and enjoyed it. We returned the next day to find a lighter crowd and a slightly different selection of baked goods. Came straight from the airport to refuel. Conveniently located right off the Blue and Red lines. This location was ~10 min walk from The Bean. I went on Fri around 12:30 pm and it was thankfully not super busy. After ordering at the register, they give you a table number. Just find a seat and a server will bring you your order. What I got: - Sunrise Burrito: 3.5/5 - I'm a bfast burrito gal, so I had to order this. It was super hot, fresh, and filling. The burrito was getting super soggy overtime bc of how steamy the fillings were. Unfortunately, the tomatillo sauce didn't really provide any additional flavor. I wish they cut the burrito in half so it's easier to eat. - Iced Latte w/ Oat Milk: 5/5 - I think I got a good one that day bc it was DELISH!! Not overly milky and I was able to taste the coffee roast, YUM! It even comes with a nice muffin treat! Loved that they don't charge extra for milk alt, like nyc. I imagine the place can get busy on the weekends and when there's nice weather. Outlets are located along the wall. They have a water station and restrooms. This was my first stop after landing in Chicago (recommended to me by my friend since I've never been). I got the chili crisp egg bowl which I thought was just okay. My friend's breakfast burrito was decent as well but could have been better. Neither of us were amazed with our drinks, I got the goddess sweet cream cold brew. I do believe that maybe I got unlucky with my choices that day, and that this place could redeem itself if I come back and choose something else. It's basically dessert with a hint or caffeine. I'm a big fan of banana, so I actually liked this but I would've preferred half the sweetness. The Turkey Bacon & Egg Croissant was so good! A solid breakfast sandwich - the eggs were cooked perfectly, the turkey bacon was insanely crispy, and that sambal aioli was just what this needed. I highly recommend adding Avocado like I did for some freshness & creaminess since it's a heavy sandwich as is. The Cinnamon Roll was soft, moist, and not overly sweet. This café popped up when I searched for popular coffee shops nearby, and as soon as I got there, I understood why. It was packed They have plenty of indoor seating along with a few outdoor tables, but my favorite part was the open-air design. The huge windows let in so much natural light and make it the perfect place to enjoy a Chicago summer while people watching. One of my friends who lives in Chicago told me this place has the best hot chocolate in the city. I was in the mood for a latte instead, so I ordered one along with the avocado toast. Both were really good, and even though there was a small line to order, the service was quick and the staff was friendly. I also noticed lots of people working and studying here, so it definitely has that neighborhood café vibe. The highlight for me, though, was the VIEW. The café overlooks the elevated train tracks, so you can watch the trains go by every few minutes (check out the videos below!). I could have easily sat there for hours just enjoying the view with my coffee. That alone makes this place worth a visit. read more

Had to finish it over the course of the day and the Lox Bagel was not that great. they, like, cut up the salmon and mixed it into the cream cheese so it was impossible to even know how much salmon there was but I could tell there was a ton of cream cheese I probably wouldnt go back of my own volition. Also I ordered it to go and then sat down to wait for my food and the staff immediately came up and started questioning me about why I was sitting there so dont ask for it to-go if you want to sit down at all. Once I finally received my coffee, it was a very good coffee. I ordered a decaf date chocolate latte with oat milk. It is a signature drink on their menu nothing fancy no crazy demands on my end. I ordered it at 9:13 AM for pick up. I arrived at 9:21 and at 9:37, I finally received my coffee. I almost missed my meeting waiting for my coffee. I saw this place from a mile away way and instantly made a beeline. I knew my sweet tooth would be out of control when I walked in and boy was I right. Everything looked good! I really wanted to try the s'mores bar but I'd have to get it whole as they don't serve pieces. I settled for the chocolate chip cookie, a classic, which never disappoints. It was nice because they asked if I wanted it heated up, which I've never had asked before! Let me just say, on a cold day, a warm cookie makes such a difference! The cookie was soft and was up there as one of the better tasting chocolate chip cookies I've had. I def. relished every bite. This was my fiancé and I's first stop once we arrived in Chicago. It was recommended to us from a friend. I was skeptical at first because it is a local chain, rather than a singular location. However, it lived up to the hype. Service: it was extremely busy when we came in. The line was almost out the door. They have a system in place for ordering and seating so it worked well and fast given how busy they were. We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. Service was fast, but not particularly warm. When I asked a couple questions and tried to get recommendations, the staff didn't seem too enthusiastic or helpful. Not rude, just... uninterested. I ordered the protein bowl and a cold brew with tiramisu cold foam. The bowl tasted like a standard pre-made microwave meal you'd get at Starbucks -- very mid, lacking flavor, and nothing I'd go out of my way to order again. The coffee was the bigger disappointment: I asked for cold brew topped with cold foam (specifically not a latte!), but it came out tasting like MILK with zero coffee flavor. Impossible sandwich 8/10 The sandwich is very good and light, this makes it a perfect breakfast or brunch choice. The sausage is so flavor full I wouldn't know it was plant-based ! The only thing that threw me off was the tartness of the Avocado, with the fresh and light taste of the other ingredients the tartness bit back.
