I found this small coffee shop and noticed they had online ordering. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't able to place my order online. They were having technical issues. I arrived and ordered my coffee. They have different milk options which is great for people with allergies. I inquired about the sausage used in the breakfast burrito and the employee said they had no idea what kind of meat it was. A sad day for people with food allergies. I opted for a safer option. The food and pastries are not made in house. I thought it would be but that's okay. The coffee shop itself is very inviting. There are a lot of area to sit and work. The ambiance felt very comfortable. I only stayed long enough for my breakfast and coffee to be made/warmed. The coffee was floral but bitter. I had to put sugar into it to try and balance the bitter burnt flavor. But given an option between a very popular name brand or this place, I'll stick to Happy Monday. The sandwich bread was burnt. I stopped by Happy Monday Coffee on the way to the Art Museum for some quick caffeine. Very good coffee and great chill, moody ambiance. It was quiet (around 4 pm on Friday) and not too crowded. You order from a kiosk so not too much to add about service, but my oatmilk cortado was fantastic. If I lived here, it seems like a great little coffeeshop to come read, work, or I even saw someone crocheting. The downside was that it seemed they don't have public restrooms, which maybe makes it hard to sit and stay awhile despite the cozy environment. read more

I stopped by this café to grab a coffee and get some work done. It's a very spacious place with lots of plants, which gives it a nice, relaxing vibe. I ordered a latte and a chocolate croissant. The latte was great, although I was a little disappointed that they don't offer "for here" cups. The chocolate croissant, unfortunately, didn't taste very fresh and was a bit underwhelming. The highlight of my visit was the staff. She noticed I was working on my laptop and proactively offered me the Wi-Fi password before I even had a chance to ask, which I thought was a really thoughtful touch. Yet, despite their oxymoronic name, Happy Monday Coffee is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As someone who doesn't often make coffee runs during the workday, this means my coffee time is relegated to lunch. Some more expanded hours would be helpful not only to me and others like me but also to boost business. Where the coffee itself is concerned, I love the creativity displayed in the latte selections. Even as someone who is not a big latte lover, this is the kind of beverage I always get here. Are these the greatest things ever? No. However, I can't fault them too much, as lattes by design hide the bite of espresso under milk and often sugar. The vibe inside is relaxed and modern-boho, with a tasteful DJ set playing at a reasonable volume on the flatscreen. While I always take my coffee to go, it seems like a comfortable place to relax with a cup for a bit. Finally, I want to give credit to the service. While there isn't often a long line, service is consistently friendly, welcoming, and fast. Their prices aren't the cheapest around, but they are in line with what I'd expect for premium beverages in a high-traffic, downtown area. Final Verdict: Does Happy Monday have the best coffee anywhere that has me stopping in religiously? First meal I had in Chicago! I came in with friends on a Friday morning to grab some breakfast. The place was busy and there appeared to only be one person working so there was also a bit of a wait. We ordered three drinks and a breakfast sandwich to share. To our surprise, not only was there a charge for alternative milk, but there was also a charge to have the drink iced. That said, their espresso here runs on the lighter roast side where there isn't as much chocolate/nut/butter tones but more fruity floral. Their recipes are definitely interesting and balanced; for example, the Bee Sting had a nice, light yet creamy earthiness to it but hit with a small spicy, sweet kick that lasted only for a moment before finishing with milk -- every taste was pretty much mild throughout, with nothing clashing or fighting with each other .. just different throughout the sip. Stopped by this cute cafe on a Saturday morning before my Pickleball practice. They have a limited but very creative drinks menu. I ordered Thyme is Honey which is a Cinnamon Iced Latte with Almond milk and it was so delicious. It is served in a cute bear plastic bottle that you can take along with you! The aesthetic of this place is modern, chic and classy. They just have undertones of white and gold which looked pretty good. They barely have any food options but a lot of creative drinks with ingredients like Ube or Kachava. Definitely coming back to try more drinks from them. They have a lot of seating space too. We were looking for a coffee shop and quick bites near jewelers row and were so pleasantly surprised to find this local coffee shop! Goddess and the grocer had long waits and we were able to be immediately served here! They had a nice tea selection and our drinks were great. We wished we'd come earlier, they were sold out of bakery items before we arrived. We did try their breakfast sandwich though and that hit the spot. The bun was soft and it had a sharp cheddar cheese, I loved it! My partner ate it, but would have preferred a milder cheese. The space is clean and inviting and they have some fun merch including mugs and cards available for purchase. I'll definitely be visiting again when I'm in the area.
